Flint heard a vague whisper over behind him, but because it sounded like the wind, he ignored it as a light breeze. As he was waiting upside-down, something seemed to glint off Rok's ax. Flint turned his head in the direction where he saw something...but there was nothing there. He shivered slightly, looking back at the race.

((Only time I'll be on today. Two jobs...sucking the life out of me...))
Ashe took off her boots and her swords and placed them near Flint, Rok, and Luniya. "If I win we can kill him. There's something about him that I would like to figure out before we do that," she whispered to them. She then stood up and faced Contri. "No weapons, no fighting. First one to take the earring from the other wins." She shifted her weight forward and waited for Contri to move.

Contri moved slowly away from the others near the split in paths. He started walking sideways in a circle around Ashe. He wasn’t moving fast but he was holding back quite a bit, he wanted to test to see how fast Ashe could move. He circled around her for a bit and then dashed in at her side but quickly flipped backwards and then circled again to the right this time.
Let’s see how good her reflexes really are.
---
Sorrow had been away from the others but watched from afar. She wasn’t that far way just standing away from Contri and Ashe. She watched them move and noticed something. Contri wasn’t moving very fast, which she deemed to be strange considering he fast he was moving before.
He must be testing her. He’s pretty smart, not rushing in at full speed. Still there’s something about those clothes he’s wearing. Could he be a time mage? I’ve heard of those before; those with the ability to slow down or speed up time, giving you the edge in speed in a battle. If he’s a time mage then he must be very fast, even without spells. Should I warn the others, or stay silent? If he is a time mage that would explain how all those men died.
Sorrow looked over at the others, but the contest had already started and she was too far away to whisper to any of them. She waited silently, biting one of her nails, looking on at Contri and Ashe moving around cautiously.

"Nervous?" Flint asked, looking at Sorrow. "Relax, none of them have weapons, its just a simple battle of speed, dexterity, and reflexes. Whoever can unclasp an earing first. Now, if they where going at it with swords and stuff, then I would understand the nail-biting" he said casually, watching the two get ready out of the corner of his eye. "Still, who knows?"

Ashe watched as Contri circled her, her ears listening to the movement of the wind around him. He's testing me...Well, two can play at that game. She sidestepped when he dashed towards her and watched as he circled her on her right, again waiting for him to make the first move.

Without Ferghall with her, Tyr would have to rely soley on her own senses, and that was mostly what bothered her. She could still smell everything he could, hear what he could, and even to a vauge extent see what he could. It was like being a little kid and playing the imagination game for fun, though everything in front of her was clear, there was that odd vision of another place in her minds eye, the slight hint of a different smell in the air, and the whisper of voices in the back of her mind. Luckily, though, she wasn't completely and utterly powerless without Ferghall; she had the memory of the scents, she had her gut instinct of danger, and she could feel the emotions rolling off of the elves up ahead.
Back with the others Ferghall was keeping himself entertained by watching the contest. Hope you hurry back, Tyr. They're being kinda boring right now... Is something wrong? The fox had been joking with her, but the sudden feeling of her growing nervous caused him to stop. The longer fun down the back of his neck down to his tail rose suddenly; he knew that feeling well: the feeling of being watched. He shuddered and fell to licking his fur back into place, though he knew it wasn't him being watched. Those four elves you scented earlier, Ferghall? Tyr's voice asked him suddenly, causing him to pause in his administrations to the top of his tail. They do not feel like very nice people. She explained, and while the fox was still nervous for his friend he went back to his bath.
Tyr sighed out loud softly and continued her silent trip through the woods. Of course Ferghall was of no help to her right now, but she had needed to speak to him and to let him know her currant situation. Four elves, that should be a breeze for someone with her speed, silence, and "invisability" skills. So long as she could stay absolutely silent she could get in, get out, and let the others know what danger there might be; and if she got caught, then she could always rely on her speed. Besides, no one ever really notices petite blondes with nervous expresions who appear weak and helpless. Breeze, right?
So why was the feeling in her gut saying this was going to be dangerous?

Contri quickly realized, she too was testing him, and she however was going to be reluctant to make the first move. Like a game of chess, he was going to have to outwit her. Contri dashed forward, holding his left arm up to block the taking of her earring, and darted above her, pushing his right hand gently off the top of her head. As he flipped over her he reached down with his left hand to try and grab her earring but missed. He then landed standing directly behind her and rolled forwards stopping at the tips of his toes and spun around on them. He wasn’t going to make any sudden moves that would put him in jeopardy of losing the contest, yet at the same time, having to be on the offensive.
“Are you going to come at me? Or am I going to be making all the moves?”
---
“Huh? Oh? Um… I’m just remembering I forgot to mail something. Don’t worry about me.”
Sorrow continued biting her nail even harder. The guilt was strirring up in her. She couldn’t warn the others or else the male elf could attack them. But at the same time if she didn’t and he won, he would walk away scott free and who knows when they would meet up again to stop him. She had to tell them, but she was afraid, too afraid to much of anything besides bite her nail.
---
The two archers were watching for the signal to begin firing. They could still fire over the rocks if need be, but for now they waited for the opportunity where the captive couldn’t escape line of fire to begin. The mage grew hesitant, sipping on the cheap alcoholic beverage he was holding in his hand, waiting for the half elf to arrive before springing the trap. The knight however was quite hesitant to do anything, he knew what a thief could do, and what he could do, and simply waited in his hideout in the trees waiting for the half elf to approach.

(( I was going to post this an HOUR ago! What happened was my computer went all wonky on me and the internet was down (still had a signal though) and I couldn't do anything. Lucky for me this happens all the time (Oo You know it's a sad day when you say you're lucky bad things happen alot) and I have a notepad on my desktop to copy and paste all my posts do before I push submit. So I didn't have to rewrite a word.))
A sudden rush of adrenaline made Tyr pause for a moment to take stock of what exactly she was actually doing. She always got that rush just before something bad happened, the bad something her gut warned her about, or she was about to do something sneaky and theif like; in Tyr's current situation she had no idea which one was which.
She was all alone, without even her security blanket named Ferghall beside her, and she was most likely walking straight into some trap someone had set up to catch people on the road off guard, or animals, or whatever whoever wanted to catch or kill.
Basically, Tyr could sum it all up in one of Ferghall's favorite expressions for when she was being stupid like this: You're screwed, elf-girl.
For some reason thinking about her gray fox friend made her smile, and her heart beat slowed down to a more reasonable pace. Sure, she was still nervous and she could still feel the danger, but she wasn't afraid anymore. Of course Ferghall could make her feel better, even in thought. They were closer than blood, and on a couple of occasions Tyr had even admitted to herself that having someone sarcastic around was the perfect motivation for someone like herself.
Still, as she finally continued forward, though now at more of a walk than the silent but almost leisurely stroll she'd been using earlier, she couldn't help but chant to herself: You can do this, you can do this, you can do this...
Though she would never admit to it in as many years as she would live, Tyr had a small stubborn streak and a slight bit of pride in some areas, and right now both were in full control. She simply couldn't help but continue forward, unkowingly into a trap, and it was for a number of reasons; she couldn't turn back now without any news, she'd gone off on her own so they might be suspicious, if she did turn back she would be giving in to the fear that she'd be struggling her entire life to keep in somewhat control , and most of all because that prideful stubborn streak wouldn't let her go back now that she was so close.
Whatever was planned for her, Tyr was at least confident she could survive it.

(Sorry for not being here for a while. I was busy with exams all last week, and then I needed a break from gaia, and thinking. But now I am back, I have read what happened as well, so I know what is going on. I am happy you managed to keep roleplaying. :3)
Lin looked at the group, she noticed the newest member of the group, the thief girl, was not around. She could sense her up ahead, as well as the other elves that smelt like the male elf with them. He was definately unable to be trusted, and she guessed his men, or women, or both, were on guard, ready to attack at any time to defend him. Once Sorrow had pointed out the shirt the male elf wore, she too found out what it meant after some time. It was the mark of a time mage, those time mages were dangerous, she just hoped Ashe would be fine since she was against the time mage in the contest.
A constant feeling made Lin decide to find the thief girl, and help her out. It smelt like there were three, or even four other elves up ahead. Her senses were very alert. After some time she finally came to a decision, she would follow the thief girl, and bring only Moondust along with her. After all, Moondust made her senses stronger seeing as they were linked by the wit. Slowly and quietly before the others could stop her, or notice her leaving, Lin slipped away into the forest and began to follow the smell of the thief girl. Moondust soon joined her, and told her that Mist was keeping a close eye on the other horses. He was smart, and could handle things.
Lin smiled at this, reassured of the safety of the horses, and their precious cargo, of food, and other things that were needed. She quickly managed to catch up with the thief girl, and gently tapped her on the shoulder before whispering into her ear. "I know why you are going this way, Moondust, and I can sense them as well. There are about three or four, they all have the same scent as that male elf, so they are obviously his people. I knew he couldn't be trusted, but I like to make sure of things completely. I don't suggest going on your own at all, even if you are skilled in the skills you have, against four, and perhaps it being a trap, you haven't much of a chance."
Lin smiled kindly, and kept close to the thief girl. She could sense them watching, and so could Moondust. Moondust quickly slipped away, obviously getting some of 'his friends' to come join them. After all, tigers liked to eat, and Moondust wanted to share the possible food with his friends. Lin smirked at the thought, it was funny to think of Mist in such a way.
(Oh by the way, check the annoucements on the first page. I updated a few things. We now have a main enemy. ^^)

As Flint was watching the race, a small breeze blew past him, carrying an odd smell. He waited until it started up again, and he sniffed the air. It was the smell of cheap booze. Of what type, Flint couldn't tell, but because he lived in a bar for a while, he could pretty much tell what it was. He doubted it was from anyone in the group. It could have come from the convoy though... He ignored it, the thought still in his mind, and seemed to stare into space instead of at the fight.

Ashe smiled at Contri. "Don't worry, I'll move." Saying that she jumped back and lowered herself close to the ground. She then sprung forward, running on all fours like an animal. Once she got close to Contri she made to look as if she was aiming for his earring, but feinted to the opposite side. As she was about to pass him she swung out her leg and caught him at the ankles which she hoped would cause him to stagger a bit. She was at his back now. She spun around and lunged for his earring.

((Ooo, sorry. Hope you're feeling better, though.))
At the sudden tap on her shoulder Tyr jumped and swung around, one foot landing on a small branch and snapping it loudly, barely able to stop herself from screaming in the terror tht had come from that surprise as well as the fact she had just been touched without her knowledge or consent to the action. Ferghall had warned her ahead of time that Lin was coming, and her own heightened senses had warned her that Lin was close behind, but she still hadn't expected that. "Thank you," Tyr whispered in a very soft and polite voice. "I know I really shouldn't be ging alone, but I thought if I could find out and warn you..." She shrugged her shoulders lightly and looked ahead through the trees.
Tyr had already know there were at least three or four elves up ahead, and the danger feeling had already warned her it was a trap, but admission of such things had always gotten her in trouble as a child. "We're going to need to be very careful. They definately know we're coming now, if they didn't already know before," She warned, then she began to continue walking towards the trap. "I'm very fast, so I can serve as a distraction if you'd like..." Tyr suggested, relaxing slightly now that she wasn't alone, but still on edge.

Contri watched in amazement as Ashe had began running on all fours. She had caught him off guard, but he knew with a tactic like that, he would need to increase his speed quite a bit. Just as she had hit his leg, he increased his speed. The half second advantage she had was taken back down to zero, as her fingertips touched the earring slightly, but his head turned quickly out of reach. He smacked her other hand out of the way lightly and ran forward then turning around quickly almost gliding as he did so. He began to circle around her again this time moving a bit faster than the previous time he circled. “You’re good, but not good enough.”
He dashed in forwards sliding underneath her and used his heels to stop just behind her. He pushed his arms up spinning forwards using both hands to defend and attack. With this amount of speed he had collected it would be almost impossible for her to reach the earring. But Contri’s speed wasn’t at its peak; he was only maybe at forty to fifty percent of his maximum speed.
“Try and keep up.”
---
“Wait there’s two now; two elves, one half, one full, and a beast with them. They might be on to us, but they are approaching your position now. As soon as they are in range begin.” Deltia spoke.
The elf mage, dressed up like a hobo, stumbled forwards towards Tyr and Lin. He stumbled around belching loudly following it up with a fake hiccup. He slowly approached the two, his footsteps were light and seemed to be making clicking noises. He peered at them, his eyes very jumpy, and then spoke.
“Ey there, got any change? Hic.. I could sure use some more booze. Hey you wann’ play a little game?”
---
Sorrow looked up from biting her nail and noticed something strange. Something strange was going on with the contest. Sure they were dueling without weapons, only using speed, to get the others earring but she noticed something else. Contri didn’t seem to be trying very hard to get the earring. It seemed as if he was buying time. Almost if he was just stalling till his followers up the road had engaged with Tyr and Lin. Also, it wasn’t just that he wasn’t trying to get the earring. He was watching her. He was following Ashe’s movements not by sight, but sound. His eyes were rested on her; he was watching her, the whole time. His eyes were beginning to make her feel a bit uneasy.
---
It was true Contri wasn’t watching Ashe, he wasn’t watching her at all. His eyes were focused on Sorrow. He watched her every move, yet at the same time, used his other senses, ears, smell, and wind direction to judge what Ashe’s movements were. He was spinning around in a circle at extremely fast speeds. Yet at the same time his legs were not moving much. His legs quickly shifted as if he was a spring, he dashed around moving at quite faster speeds. It’s almost as if he was a windup toy. His body spinning to build up speed, and then when finished, he unleashed a fury of speed much like rubber band. He darted around making circles around Ashe lunging forwards only to dart to the side and then rush from the opposite direction in some sort of figure eight position.
---
The mage quickly threw his hobo clothes into the air, tossing a long wooden mage staff and hat up with it that was hidden until now. In one quick swoop he caught the hat with his right hand placing it on his head, while grabbing his wand with the left, quickly lowering his right arm and catching the bottle he had dropped to grab the hat. He smirked and pointed the staff at them. “I am Lavian, an elf Black Mage, and this is your graveyard.”
He took a quick swig of his alcoholic beverage and spat it outwards. While he was doing that, at the same time he was casting a fire spell. The spell missed Tyr and Lin, but seemed to serve a different purpose. A large ring of fire rose around the two blocking any path for retreat or advancement. He dashed over to the center of the rocks and motioned with two fingers. Soon the archers had began firing at the two trapped inside the circular pit. Their arrows darted through the flames, igniting and began to make small explosions inside the pit of fire.
“Those arrows are not ordinary arrows; they’ve been imbedded with gunpowder, as well as being razor sharp. I doubt you’ll last long. “
The mage flapped his large dark green cape and turned his back to the two darting off through the path past the two archers stopping half way to watch them squirm.
---
Why is he watching me, does he know what I know? Can he read my mind? No I don’t think time mages can read minds. She let out a soft sigh of relief. But why is he watching me, I thought he was trying to win the contest. But then again if he does, I can still tell the others and there will not be much of a point to winning. What’s the deal with this guy?
As Sorrow watched the two spin and dance around each other she became uneasy once more, not because of the eyes that seemed to follow her movements, but because of the fact that now he was becoming quite fast. She was getting dizzy just watching him spin around. His movements had become very rapid, and she was getting nauseous just looking at him.
She turned and faced away trying to stop herself from vomiting. She leaned her arm against a tree and started breathing heavily.
My head is spinning, and if this keeps up, I may pass out. Oh I don’t feel good.
---
Contri began spinning in place again noticing that those watching them were beginning to get a bit dizzy from his almost super human movements.
Good, she’s getting weak, soon I’ll make the snatch, and then ‘he’ will be pleased.
After spinning in place for another ten seconds he dashed again coming at one angle, then bouncing off into another, coming up at her side where the earring had been and grabbing her earring as hard as he could pulling on the ear, not caring it was attached. He would rip it off if he had to.
[I encourage anyone to interject post in-between where the breaks are. Nightwind you are free to make counters in at any point.
