Layna heard his voice touch her and glared up at him. A coward's dissent. But alas, they were indeed outnumbered. She grabbed the branch Ceon had been sitting up and as he jumped, she pulled herself up to the branch to follow him. But something gave her pause. She turned her head to peer around and spotted the one vampire that was hiding on the roof with the rifle, her eyes glowed like hot coals in the blackness of the shadows. "Tell your master that not all Lycans will kowtow before vampires. You attack me, you'll face the repercussions of the actions." The voice seemed to whisper in the vampire's ear like poisoned candy, sweet and deadly.

With a mighty leap, she sent her lithe human form spiraling through the trees after Ceon, her feet barely touching the branches as she made progress through the trees, careful to stay as invisible to the humans whom were beginning to swarm toward the park at the sudden light. Layna was no ordinary Lycan - she was gifted with something... more.

The team just sneered as the Lycans confronted them. Their answer was simple, a hail of SN bullets. 'Just die you filthy dogs!' one of the team yelled as he fired.

The UV flash discs were a blur, however they were not too fast for most of the team to notice, who all dived for cover. The vampire with the Minimi was not so lucky. Too intent on firing at the Werewolves he took the full force of a UV flash. He fell to the floor clutching his hideously burned face.

The kill team watched as the Lycans retreated, they laughed in the face of the female Lycan's threat. 'Just bring it, saves us the trouble of hunting you down.'

All across the City Nightwatch Kill Teams were on the prowl, hunting for Lycans to exterminate. The bloodletting had begun in earnest.

Blood, sweat, tears, fear: these weren't uncommon commodities to occurr within the vast confines of the big apple. They were all innervations felt by people and immortals alike. People's cries, their terror, their agony did not fall upon deaf ears. That being said, the hunter population within New York had severely dwindled despite all of Meredith's best attempts to keep them together and organized. Many of the non-human hunters had been lured away due to the noxious allure presented to them by their original factions. Some felt the vampires would serve to protect them better than the hunters just as some of the lycans had felt the lycans would prove to safeguard them more efficiently. Of course, Meredith Jackson did not believe that to be the case but all the same she had learned to cut her losses.

After all, there was no point in forcing anyone to remain against their will. She'd allowed them to waver, to return to their factions of origin out of fear. If one was ruled by fear then as far as she was concerned they had no business being a hunter of New York anyhow. It was not an easy life and it was by no means for those who were weak of heart, soul, body or mind. It required dedication and discipline: something even she herself hadn't fully mustered. However, the parting of her brothers had forced her to grow up, to face the facts: if you couldn't learn to move on, to let the past go, then you were doomed to be miserable. Sometimes a person just had to let go and realize life wasn't over simply because something hadn't worked out. These were rough times but what didn't kill her would only make her stronger.

Of course, they hadn't left the hunters without first being issued an ultimatum. Simply because they'd once been a hunter did not mean they would not be hunted in the future. Just as parents hated reprimanding their children, Meredith despised when she was forced to follow through with her warnings. Some former hunters had thought to play on her compassion as a former leader and ally of theirs, expecting she would not follow through with what she'd said. They'd been horribly wrong. Just as the lycan huntress had the blood of many a vampire and lycan contaminating her hand, so too did she wear the blood of former people she'd come close to considering family. She was a woman of her word and her resolve was not to be tested. To get where she was she'd been forced to prove herself, to show she was worthy of leading.

The hunter leader could be found sauntering through central park independently from the rest of the hunters, by no means an uncommon practice for Eden. Her heightened senses and intuition were tools she utilized to her utmost advantage. Being able to hear, smell or intuitively sense someone from a fair distance away made her a more than effective killer and stalker. It also meant she specialized in the practice of silencing lycans due to the fact she knew their habits like the back of their hand as she lived by many of those habits herself. Of course, her abilities did not solely help her with lycans. She could give any vampire or other being a run for it's money if it so chose to oppose her.

With a resolve that could liquify the most frigid of ices, she wandered the park without expecting to find much until an all too familiar scent assailed her senses. It was death. There was no mistaking it for there was no smell to rival or match it. The scent was unique, there was no disguising it or hiding it from the beast within her. Someone had died here tonight. It seemed it had been rather recently as well seeing as the blood was still fresh.

Naturally she ventured further into the park to investigate. She not only came across the dead body of a police officer but of a tree that evidently possessed sizable gouges from claws she could only assume belonged to a lycan. Furthermore another tree appeared to have been scorched by something: she was willing to bet there had been some form of confrontation here. Oddly enough, though, the trajectory of the scorched tree and that of the police officer did not coincide. In fact, it suggested that perhaps the police officer hadn't even happened upon the incident before being swiftly murdered.

The lycan huntress knelt down next to the stagnant body placing her fist to her chest for a moment and nodding solemnly before inspecting the body. A blatantly visible bullet to the throat quickly determined the cause of death. Ironically enough, though, it appeared the poor soul had been fired on with a silver nitrate bullet. Of course, as a hunter she was fully aware the bullets were utilized for killing lycans via poisoning them through their blood stream. What she couldn't explain was why a lycan would have a silver nitrate bullet of all things which was what lead her to believe there had been a third party here this evening. Someone had been firing at lycans and human police officers. This left a couple theories up in the air.

However, as she wandered from the police officer's body to that of the tree she caught the faintest whiff of a foreign yet familiar scent. One she had known a long time ago. 'Ceon? What the ******** was he doing here? Since when has he bee-' Well, she definitely knew where she was going to head off to in order to get some answers. She doubted he'd be happy to see her, their relationship wasn't exactly normal but none of her relationships had been normal thus far. It just seemed to be something she had a knack for: running into the crazy ones.

Before withdrawing from the vicinity in order to tail her lead, she quickly brought out her cellphone, dialing a preset quick speed number. "Hello? Yes, this is Meredith Jackson. I have a body in central park, victim's been shot with a silver nitrate bullet. I would like the evidence disposed of. Clean up the scene as best as you can. Thank you very much." And with that she began the cross city trek she would have to make in order to reach Ceon's residence.

The front of Rogue's gun was in the werewolf's mouth. She pulled the trigger and blood and brains flew out in the night air. The wolf had been following her all evening throughout the city. It was true, she had struck first. It was almost law according to the Death Dealers. Kill or be killed tended to keep them alive more often than not. Since the recent break of peace with the lycans, she had to resume into the bloodshed.

She would be lying if she said a huge part of her did not crave the death and destruction the Death Dealers wrought onto the other races. Humans sometimes were not simply enough.

The blood of this creature now oozed onto her.
The sound of the shot did not give her much time.
She heaved the creature over and straddled it, biting into its neck, taking its blood, like a fine aged wine. She had developed a taste for it, though most might disagree to the underlying hints of the lycan's DNA.

Blood all over her face and mouth, she went in casual stride licking her lips and lighting a cigarette. Some would say she was being careless. Others might say she wore the lycan's blood as a warning. She could feel the presence of two or three more animals hiding in the shadows as she went.

Kaiel stepped into the park and breathed a sigh of relief. This is where he belonged. It was nice to get away from the confines of his office and get out into cleaner air. Well, as clean as New York City could get. It was bright out, most night creatures would be tucked into their hiding holes, sleeping until their sun came out fully. Kaiel had been having recent insomnia bouts so he'd taken to looking at the city in bright sunlight. The wind was cool as it blew across the park and it ruffled with his long hair, that reached to his shoulders now. Running a hand through it he wondered if he should have it cut but then shrugged, he liked it well enough that it didn't matter to him. He pulled out a rubber band from the pocket of his black jeans and tied his bangs back low on his neck. His shirt was black underarmor with no sleeves and he wore heavy black combat boots.

Kaiel began to meander along the park remember that time a few years ago when he'd been chased by the lycan Ceon, when Kaiel hadn't even remembered what or who he was. Now he knew though. He WAS a lycan, one more powerful then even Ceon was, the Alpha of the wolf pack. Kaiel was more peaceful then he was then, more at ease with his surrounds. He was virtually himself again, if he knew what his old self was like. According to what he remembers, he's was loyal to the pack. He put pack before all else, which is what it should be.Which is what he'll let it keep being. It was his pack now, and if anyone tried to harm them now, they'd feel his wrath, which some of them had already. The same though goes for his wolves, his any of them decided to kill an innocent in any race they were automatically set for death. He wouldn't stand for rabids among his pack.

Kaiel grinned slightly as he watched a squirrel get chased by another up a tree. The simplicity of the life they lived was what it made it so amusing to him. He had the feeling that the him from before had a complicated life but he wasn't sure what about. His grin widened as he watched a couple walk hand in hand, chatting about whatever came to their minds. Kaiel was given many offers of companionship from the female lycans but he turned them all down. He just wasn't comfortable when he spent time with them so ended up just announcing that he wasn't going to be taking a mate until a later time. His nose twitched ruefully as he smelled a kiosk with hot dogs cooking. He walked over and ordered one, putting everything on it when it was all paid for. He took a bite and grinned as he chewed it. It was good, really good, but then anything was better then living on ramen all the time.

Layna sat on the ground beneath a tree, her bare feet peeking out in the sun from the comfortable shade, her eyes watching two children whom played not far from the water's edge, a boy with grey hair that looked so out of place, and the other a young girl with deep brown hair. These were her children, her pride and joys, the only creatures in her dark world who as of late could bring a smile to her face. Since her meeting with Ceon, she had withdrawn all contact with everyone in the city, trying to create a bubble of comfort in the blackness that permeated the city. She had managed successfully, and had set her mind with caring for her children and keeping them safe.

She was a tired-looking female, with long black hair that hung in a braid over her shoulder, and foggy grey eyes. Her skin was pale, character of one who stayed away from most sunlight. Her body was thin, with tight, wiry muscles. She wore simple blue jeans, and a blue v-neck t-shirt. Her person was free of jewelry except for a simple chain with a ring hanging from it. On her lap lay a worn violin, which she played off and on, the bow running across the strings in a loose fashion, nothing particular being played.

It was only when the direction of the comforting breeze changed and brought the snatch of a scent that her mind pulled her awake from her dreamy state, her fingers reaching up almost impulsively to touch the ring around her neck. It was a familiar scent that brought no hardships to mind, but rather a warm feeling in her chest. This confused her and her eyes darted around, trying to pinpoint the source of the smell, but there were too many people venturing through the park right now for her to discern anyone in particular.

She leaned back against the tree, and blinked, turning her attention back to her children.

Wait, where was Gabriel?!

Layna stood up in a shot, her feet moving toward where Mariaka played at the water's edge, her little hands covered in mud. "Mari, where is Gabriel?" She said with a stern voice. The little girl seemed to point nonchalantly in the direction of the hotdog vendor.

And then she took notice of who Gabriel stood close to. It can't be, she thought. She gently picked up her daughter and walked over to where Gabriel was, trying hard not to run. It had to be... who else could it be? When she reached Gabriel, she shoved the dirt-handed girl into her son's arms, where she proceeded to wipe her hands on his clean clothes. "AUGH! Mother!" He exclaimed, making a face, but not setting his sister down. "It's your own fault for leaving her on her own to get dirty. Face the consequences." Layna said with a laugh. It took all her might not to run toward the man who stood there eating, white hair pulled away from his face. She was almost trembling with the effort, but she stilled herself. What if it was Razu? What if it wasn't? It had been years since she had heard from him last. For all she knew, he could have left New York.

Kaiel was taking a third bite of his hot dog when he smelled others of his kind near by, one running towards him. He looked around but he didn't see anything he then looked down and saw a small boy with dirty white hair. A lycan pup, Kaiel smiled with fondness. "Hi, would you like a hotdog?" He crouched down to look at the pup at eye level and looked up as his mom came and shoved another little one in his arms. He met the womans eyes and grinned carefree, "Hello! Did you just get into town? It's nice to meet you, I'm Kaiel, alpha." He stood up and held out his hand to take her hand.

He gave off a very relaxed aura which compared to when he woke up it was quite an improvement. It was like losing his memories had made him more relaxed, less burdened.

She felt the words fall from her lips in confusion, "Razu...?" Had she been wrong? Those same eyes that looked at her, they were free of stress, free of the dramas that had been back then. This could not be him. She lightly took the proffered hand, squeezing it briefly. "Layna. And these are Gabriel and Mariaka. My children. A...pleasure to meet you, Kaiel?" She was in a dazed state, trying to wrap her mind around what was happening before her.

Even Gabriel, who looked at the man with eyes to match his mother's looked confused, his own memories of a man with similar features who had made him and his mother happy.

Layna pulled her hand away from the man's, and placed it over her heart. "I'm not new to New York, no. I've lived here for years. It's just been sporadic as of late, and I moved. Then recently I moved back with my two children... Wait... Alpha? Of which pack? The New York Pack?" It almost made her squirm in her confusion and perhaps a little sadness. "Then you've met with Jaden?" She had heard not hide nor hair of Jaden or his whereabouts.

Kaiel gazed at the woman. She was really pretty he had to admit, "A lot of people think I'm this Razu, I really must look like him. I've never met him before, even though I was part of the pack even before I lost my memory. As for Jayden," Kaiel winced, "He...passed the reigns to me. I haven't seen him since he did. It didn't help that I just barely remembered being made alpha. He said that since I was his right hand ma, he'd trust me with his spot as leader. That I was capable...." Kaiel stopped, realizing that he was babbling. "I'm sorry. I've always been really talkitive when it comes to thoughts, memories and feelings."

Kaiel knelt down to the young ones, "So you're Gabe and the little one is Mariaka? Nice to met you!" He held out a hand to the young one and he noticed his confused feelings, "Sorry if I upset you little man. "
PostPosted: Thu Jun 14, 2012 4:51 am

Layna just peered at the man with bottomless grey eyes for the longest moment, a soft grimace pulling at her lips. Perhaps Razu had had a twin she had never known about? Or perhaps this was some cruelly played trick... How could two people have that same smile, and those deep chocolate eyes that seemed endless in their depths? Shaking her head, she lowered her gaze, breaking contact with those eyes that brought back memories of a time when she had felt as carefree as this man felt. Could this be Razu? What if it was not? She didn't want to make such a silly mistake. But something nagged at her greatly, tugging at her like a bow string. Why would Jaden hand the leadership over to a stranger, one he deemed "his right hand"? There was only one whom she remembered holding even something remotely similar to that title: Razu.

As Kaiel turned his attention to her children, she let the questions finally fall from lips. "Tell me, what do you remember of Jaden? Where do you come from? Do you have friends in the city? Family?" She knew the questions were greatly prying, especially for one who was her supposed Alpha. But if this man was to lead her, she wanted to know exactly who he was.

She leaned down next to the man, her daughter running into her arms and nuzzling against her mother's warm skin. Gabriel on the other hand just stared at Kaiel with a a level gaze, confusion still prominent. After another moment's hesitation, Gabriel reached out and grasped the hand with his own pale hand, squeezing with all the childish strength he could muster. A firm handshake was a good thing, right?

Layna watched the proceeding with one eye in the past and the other in the present, reminiscing to a scene so similar to this that happened when her son had been younger, when her son had called a man with features terribly similar to Kaiel's, father. It was a little painful to see the distraught expression that had wormed it's way into her son's eyes. And then something gave her pause. She raised her hand from stroking her daughter's soft brown her, and touched the object that hung upon the precariously thin chain, gleaming against her shirt like a spot of ocean in the heat of the sun's glare. It was a ring which had been entrusted to her by a man who had wanted very much to take her hand and become a father to her children. He had cared for her without hesitation. Would this man who claimed not to be Razu know it?

Delicately, she unclasped the object from it's resting place, and as her son released the man's hand, she lightly raised Kaiel's palm to face upward. She dropped it into the hand and closed his fingers around it. "If you are not who I think you are, then I have no use for this. You... can have it." She murmured.

Kaiel looked into the velvety grey eyes and his eyes trailed to the lips as she tugged at them with her teeth. He dropped his eyes his heart pounding just a bit faster. He ruffled Gabe's hair affectionately and pondered the woman's questions, "All I know is what Jayden told me. His life story, his memories, him leaving me with his title...him..." Kaiel faltered as the emotions choked up his throat. He didn't like remembering that particular memory.

He looked up and and said, "Well, see that's the thing. I don't know anything about myself since about 2 years ago, when I woke up in the hospital. I didn't even know I was a wolf until I remembered about being made the alpha of the pack. Do not fear please because of that bit of information. I'm a very good leader." He felt the kid grab his hand and give it a good squeeze. Kaiel turned his gaze towards Gabe again amd smiled, experiencing a small pang in his heart. It felt like deja vu, "Good hand shake there Gabe!" He ruffled the kids hair again.

He blinked starled as soft feminine hands reached out and grabbed his hand as Gabe let go. He watched in fasination as she twisted his palm upward and dropped something in it. Curious as he always was he opened his fingers immediately after she closed them and stared at the ring. The same pounding in his head started as it had when he remembered about being a Lycan and the new Alpha. He didn't fight the spiraling sensation of falling head first into the black pit of his mind but all it did was bring him back to the present, leaving him one piece of knowledge, "This was my mothers...I gave it...to someone..."

Kaiel looked at Layna confusion twisted on his face, "You said this...guy gave it to you? This Razu?" The crushing feeling that he was this Razu fell upon him, heavy but why did he feel so detached if he was? That name obviously belonged to him but it felt like it was someone different. Like it was a twin he never had and never met, but maybe it was a twin, maybe this Razu was a long lost twin and the reason he'd been found in the subway was because he'd come to find his brother, but that didn't explain the ring. Kaiel was positive that the ring had been in his possesion, that HE'D given the ring to someone, this female with her children apparently.

Kaiel gave a a start. Kids. He stared at Gabe, he had white hair like Kaiel did, and Kaiel had always been partical to the name Gabriel. Was this HIS kid? Kaiel uttered softly, "I don't understand...? Why would I possibly forget giving this to someone?"
PostPosted: Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:28 am

The woman watched him with wary eyes, as if expecting a horrible reaction. Instead she got a reaction that send butterflies through her. Lightly, she grabbed Kaiel's hand and pulled him forward away from the vendor, where people were beginning to stare, much to her embarrassment. Tugging him toward the trees near the lake, she finally stopped, her children both giggling freely as they took off toward the nearby playground, though Gabriel was nursing a very bad case of bed-head from the ruffling. But whatever was going on, he knew it did not concern him, so he lightly grabbed his sister's hand and guided her toward the swings.

Layna watched them go, her grey eyes warm, before turning back to Kaiel and her trembling thoughts. The eyes she met were distraught, and she felt his discomfort. But what to say?

No.

The truth needed to be said. She grimaced, pulling at her lips for a moment, her fingers gripping the fabric of her shirt anxiously, before she allowed calm to flow through her enough for her to speak.

"That ring... was given to me by Razu.... when he asked for my hand... At the time... I could not answer. It was months after my first mate had fallen to his death, taking my happiness with him. But then Razu came into my life and..." She had to pause, her face unable to hide what she felt: love, worry, fear, uncertainty...

"He brought me and my son happiness... he opened my closed heart and showed that I could still feel that love. He gave me this ring, even though I did not accept, and I knew...he awaited my answer. But when I went to find him, to finally give him an answer..." She was trembling now, mainly from the onslaught of memories and emotions that she had not thought over for some time. "When I went to give him an answer, he had vanished without a trace. No one would tell me where he was, or what had happened. Even... even when I came back a few months ago, I found myself searching for him still, hoping... But nothing came. And I gave up." She sat down then on the ground, her eyes staring at her feet, and then at her hands. "I fear perhaps I made a stupid decision back then, when I could not give him an answer. He had stolen my heart, and had become a father for my son, one who was kind and loving. And I pushed him away. I am a selfish woman, unworthy of that kind of love." She raised her eyes, and smiled almost sheepishly at Kaiel. "It is the reason I give the ring to you. I may never see Razu again, and give him my answer as I had wanted to. To hold on to that ring, it... makes me keep searching..."

She pressed her face into her hands, rubbing her face vigourously before letting out a weak laugh. "Forgive me for boring you with my pitiful story. You are not Razu. You are Kaiel. I... perhaps I must face that Razu has gone. Perhaps he has found his happiness somewhere else. In which... I can be happy for him for that. He deserves happiness. In all his giving, he never asked for anything in return."

Looking away from Kaiel, she stared at where her children played without a care in the world. "If I could go back in time, I would have given him my true answer. And perhaps, Mariaka could have been his." It was a sweet thing for her to think about, to dream about as she did when loneliness grasped at her with cold fingers. "I must sound like a weak woman... But please, do not feel pity... I hate feeling pitied. I have made due with losing those I love, one by one. Those two children out there are who I have left, they are what make me happy, and which I treasure and protect."

Kaiel let himself be dragged away from the vender and watched as the young ones left to play with the swings. He then turned and his heart nearly stopped at the adorable sight of the lycan girl figeting. He shook his head trying to get rid of the thought. It was unlike him, even if he had given the ring to her she obviously wasn't important enough to remember or she did something so wrong this 'Razu' wanted to forget what she'd done to him.

Then she began to explain that this Razu basically gave her his heart and she held onto it without giving hers back in return until it was too late. Kaiel scorned the guy he shouldn't have been so open, obviously when he found out this Ceon was still alive (which he was because Kaiel was nearly killed by him-how did that come about?) and she went with him, his heart obviously got torn to pieces in her care... wait how did he know that the crazed wolf from before was her supposedly dead husband? It made no sense that he knew...but he was certain this was it.This was his answer why the lycan had hunted this 'Razu' whom Kaiel bore an uncanny resemblance to. This 'Razu' had stolen his girl while he'd been dead. What an a*****e...

Kaiel watched as the girl trembled at the memories she was obviously reliving. Her face an open book, and it was so attracting Kaiel nearly kissed her, but he threw that urge off quickly. He wasn't going to do that. He wasn't like that 'Razu' guy. He wasn't up to stealing other peoples girls, plus he had already told people he wasn't looking for a mate and anyways when he mated, it was for life. If this Razu came back, she would obviously go back to him no matter her claim to give him up. She loved HIM now, not her ex husband. The envy of the two obviously star crossed lovers burned him, he wished he had that love directed at him.

Kaiel's eyes widened and he shivered, his train of thought was seriously scaring him. He didn't want to get serious about anyone. He'd do one night stands only and obviously Layna was not the kind of wolf for that kind of thing. He repeated this over and over as she continued to speak, to subtly inform him that the Mariaka wasn't this Razu's and not even Gabe was his. A sense of loss fillled him. Unable to take the thoughts anymore he spoke,"I won't pity you." His voice held a little icy chill to it as he desperately tried to get his thoughts in order again. "Perhaps you'll find someone else." Realizing he was being rude, even if it was to protect himself, he softened his voice, " The kids look lonely, I'm going to play with them." He offered an easy, lopsided grin and loped over to them.

"Who wants to go REALLY high on the swing? I'll push them!"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 16, 2012 5:01 pm

"I want to Ra Ra!" Gabriel jumped on to the swing the man calling himself Kaiel came to stand behind, leaving Mari in the baby seat next to it. He kept a careful eye on her as Kaiel began to push, slowly, not even breaking Gabriel's own height at the highest point. He was about to say something about it when, with a sudden push he went up higher then ever before. He laughed screamed enjoying the heights given to him.

Kaiel's mind was not entirely on the kids as he'd asked them if they wanted to be pushed, instead his mind was still stuck on the kids' mother. There was no way he was this "Razu" guy and forget her. She was simply...perfect. The loving mother, a loyal woman and wife, taking this long to even come to the decision to let him know of her feelings. She was strong but unafraid of letting her feelings show at the drop of the hat.

Wrinkles between Kaiel's eyes began to appear as they crumpled togther in thought. Why was he suddenly feeling disgusting romantic thoughts like that running through his head. Sure, he thought the lycan mom was pretty, but he didn't know anything else. Actually he thought both she and that Razu were both idiots, sappy romantic idiots, but still idiots all the same. He was glad that he hadn't been leader at the time this kind of stuff was going down and he actually felt sorry for Jaden who had to go through it. Not that Kaiel ever wanted to be leader in the first place. After all he'd told Jaden when they first met that he was glad he wasn't a leader of any kind. Wait...no he didn't. Kaiel had told Jaden he was fine with it. He knew this was what was going to happen and was fine with it. He'd agreed to it. Finally something pulled him out of his revere and it was something that had been said by the kid he was pushing absentmindedly.

'Ra ra'

Kaiel pushed the kid hard and dropped to a knee, holding his head as a head ache appeared, feeling like it was literally splitting him in two. He saw the word in doubles for a brief moment. One in bright hues, the freshest of the everything around and the other as for what it really was, a park in the middle of a smog infested, demon infested, vampire infested city. Then everything went dark for Kaiel as he was pushed to the back of his mind, no memory to come this time, it was like being locked up in a cage, back inside his mind when he couldn't move, only listen but even the silence was loud, he could hear nothing but his own breathing.

Rasheed looked and blinked, wondering where he was. He'd heard Gabe call for him and ran over from the cave he'd been in, but on the way he'd gotten dizzy, losing focus and then found himself stationary in a completely different place. He noticed a swing coming toward his face and stood up and out of the way just in time for the swing and it's occupant to pass by. Eyes widening he reached over and plucked the child off the swing as passed by once again. "Gabe? Is that really you?"

His eyes trailed to the little girl next to them who watched them with wide eyes, she looked like Layna...Layna's second child. Not seeing the woman immediately in his view site he spun around and jumped startled as he spotted the woman, "Layna..."

The cold night air blew softly through the trees of central park, all was quiet. a couple of homeless men huddled around a barrel with a fire brewed inside of it across the street under an overhang of a nearby building. The two of them rubbed their ragged hands together and held them out palms first as close to the fire as they would dare to without getting burned. Theywere silent, broken by the cruel world that they watched from alleyways during the day. Life was a cruel thing to them... Both had been dealt a bad hand, and they were left with nothing...nothing but themselves and the clothes on their backs.

Silently they stood, keeping warm next to the fire that burned inside the old oil barrel. One turned his head in the direction of a subtle noise across the street that sounded like a mans whisper. He stared towards the trees, mouth slightly agape, breath fogging in the cold midnight air. His eyes moved slowly towards another tree. Still nothing. His mouth closed as he swallowed instinctively.

"Weird things out there at night..." he muttered to the other homeless man. And just as he was about to turn back toward the other homeless man, the air stood still, the cold grew, and an instinctive shiver went down his spine. He looked to his left and then to his right, the eery feeling instensifying. He looked at the other homeless many, who met his stare with his own. They exchanged glances for a moment, before the other homeless man's stare averted into the direction behind his friend. His eyes grew wide and his mouth opened slightly. The homeless man turned around to see what the other homeles man was staring at, and his eyes widened as well as he saw a black orb, floating silently about 10 feet behind him, about 4 feet off of the ground. It was perfectly round, and was slowly rotating, an occasional arc of black energy leaping from one side of it to another.

They stared at it for what seemed hours, stunned by what they were looking at, and unable to think clearly. Suddenly the black orb stopped spinning completely, and the air around it seemed to expand. All sounds ceased, and the air stayed as still as it had been. It bulged slightly, and an arc of black energy was thrown towards the side of a nearby building, pulverizing the wall and collapsing the corner of the building. The two homeless men jumped, startled by the sight, and goosebumps rose on their skin, and fear krept up their throats.

The orb then suddenly completely shank down to the size of a pea, imploding on itself as if its own mass was too much for it to handle. Then, in a burst of energy, the wind was blown forcefully away from the orb, creating a shockwave that shattered windows, and threw the two homeless men backwards off of their feet. They landed onto their backs with a thud, scrambling backwards a little, staring at the sight in front of them with a horrifying look in their eyes. The orb burst open, and a dark portal was formed. The portal of dark energy was like a vaccum, sucking in the air around it like a black hole, everything in the portal itself unseen from absolute darkness. An arc of dark energy cracked in the area, followed by another, as the air continued to be sucked into the portal. A tall, dark figure slowly emerged from the portal, stepping out as his figure became more defined like water freezing into solid ice. The dark shape formed into the shape of a man, a man with long white hair, pale skin, enveloped in dark cloth wrappings. A slither of darkness followed him out of the portal and grew into the size of a blanked, and shifting around the man, until it resembled a black cloak. Another sliver simultaneously rose, elongated at his side, and formed into the shape of a katana, and solidified. The dark figure now cloaked and armed with a katana, looked up towards the two homeless men with a blank expresion upon his pale face. A scar was visible that extended from above his right eye and stopped just next to his cheekbone. His right eye was completely black except for a white ring that might be considered an iris, while his left eye was plain, except for a crimson iris.

They homeless men both stared in horror. Time slowed, and as they blinked, it was all gone. The air settled, and the portal, the dark figure with the white long hair, all of it was gone. They both looked around wuickly, trying to make sense of what they just witnessed, One fell through the ground, into his own shadow, screaming as his shadow melted into the concrete, until his scream faded into silence. The other homeless man scrambled to his feet, eyes wide with terror, and ran as fast as he could towards the trees and grass of central park across the street.

He didnt make it across the street.

Veroen darted from the shadows, too fast for the human eye to see, and even too fast for anything but a Vampire Elder or Lycan Alpha to see. The homeless man suddenly bumped into what felt like a wall, and fell down onto his a**. He blinked, startled and dazed for a second from the impact. He looked up into the mismatched eyes of the figure he had seen. He helplessly stuttered out the word 'please', but thats all he could get out before Veroens hand found its way to the mans throat, closing tightly. The man was lifted off the ground, face instantly reddening as he choked for air, panicking and clawing at his throat depserately, trying to free his neck. Veroen looked deep into the eyes of the man, enjoying the sight of the mans life leaving his eyes slowly. But just before the mans movement slowed and death began to take over, Veroens head was instantly at the homeless mans throat, fangs in his flesh, and gulping down the mans blood as if he hadnt drank anything for hundreds of years. The mans body twitched and was limp at once,

Veroen fed, oh how he fed...It had been too long. Far too long since he had set foot on this plane of reality. He was different, not nearly the caring man he used to be. The Void made sure of that. You spend enough time in the Void, it will surely break you. And Veroen was beyond broken. He was consumed by the Void, nothing of his former self left in the hollow shell that was Veroen of the Void. He dropped the drained and lifeless corpse, licking his lips fervently as the mans body landed on the ground with a thud.

He was back, and even stronger than before when he fought two Vampire Elders simultaneously. He had led a crusade on the coven, for a now unimportant secret uncovered. Old Veroen might have cared, but Veroen of the Void did not. He had his own agenda, and it was unclear what his agenda was. His glowing crimson eye that had once been bright darkened into a deep crimson, a sign that his hunger had been satisfied for the time being. His other eye, all black eexcept for a white iris, radiated darkness. It was one of the focal points of his connection to the Void.

He lifted his black hood over his head, and began walking into the wind, the smell of insignificant dogs filling his nostrils.
