Earendil chuckled as they headed off down the street to where a large crowd was dancing. Men and women, teenagers, even the children were dancing and laughing together and having lots of fun.
Since there had really been no culture at all on the island for the past several centuries - or longer - there was no really "proper" way of dancing; people were mostly making it up as they went. Arwen and Roydon were just about the only couple who were truly dancing, since Arwen had grown up having dancing lessons.
Earendil smiled down at Miyuki and Lin. "Shall we join in?" he asked them.

"Yay!" Miyuki exclaimed and hurried off the join the other children because it looked like a lot of fun.
Hopefully, her energy would be somewhat less by the time she decided she had enough.
Lin though wasn't hurrying, instead she looked up at Earendil not completely sure what to expect. The only dancing she had ever done was the type meant to be displayed, not to be danced with another partner, and she was pretty sure Earendil also had dance lessons at one point or another.

While Miyuki ran off to join the other children, Earendil looked down at Lin, a warm smile on his face, his eyes soft. He held one hand out to her, palm upwards, inviting.
"Might I have the honour of a dance?" he asked her softly, fully aware that she probably wouldn't know the dances that he did. He wouldn't push her if she didn't want to, but he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to ask.

She actually had to think about it, but seeing as it looked like Arwen and Roydon were the only ones who had a specific dance she figured it couldn't hurt. Taking his hand she nodded.
"I'd like that, but you'd have to lead."

Earendil chuckled and pulled her gently towards him, putting his other hand on the small of her back and stepping towards the crowd with her.
"Isn't that how it's supposed to be?" he teased her, his eyes twinkling brightly as he began to lead her in slow, waltzing circles.

Lin chuckled, she supposed so but who knew around here.
"I don't know, I've never danced with another person before," she admitted.
After all this was Lin Winters, she had until the day Earendil confessed to her, had never been out on a date, didn't do dances and wouldn't be caught dead in a fancy dress.
Which at the moment was kind of all of the above she was doing.

Earendil chuckled softly as they moved to the music. "Well, if you enjoy yourself today, perhaps we could do it a bit more often?" he suggested, a slightly hopeful tone in his voice. "Though you do realize ..."
He chuckled again. "... well, not to get ahead of myself, but ... as a future princess, you should know that there will be times when we will be expected to take part in some dances."
If they were ever at the palace, though of course it would be best to be prepared, just in case.

Lin laughed at that and blushed a bit. It was easy to forget that Earendil was a prince despite the fact she had grown up all her life knowing this one little fact. It was just, she couldn't really imagine herself being a princess.
"Well, it's another set of lessons I could always take," Lin replied.
It had been a while since she needed to take a lesson in anything.

Earendil tilted his head slightly. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" he asked, not entirely sure if it would end up being one of those lessons that she looked forward to or not. He knew there were some things that she did because she had to, rather than because she wanted to. He didn't want this to be one of those things ...

"A good thing, it's always good to learn new things, and this isn't like when I had to learn history, or math, or... science."
While Lin was not excellent in the magical arts, she was even worse when it came to the sciences. She understood basic concepts, but to even scratch the surface of what Kali or Shiro did was beyond her league. She wasn't even comfortable with a computer!

Earendil chuckled softly. "Then perhaps this world is exactly what you've been looking for, after all," he murmured. "We don't worry very much about those sorts of things, not unless we're really interested in it. After all, why learn about things that don't concern us? I've spoken with Shiro about some of the 'math', as he calls it, that you do in your world, and to be honest I just don't see the point of most of it."
He twirled her around and caught her in his arms again. "And you seem to be quite a natural when it comes to the things of this world," he smiled warmly.

Lin laughed at that, it was true. It wasn't like she was a genius the way Shiro and Kali were, she would never need advance math in her life. Just the basics would do her well.
"It simpler here," Lin admitted, "The kind of math Shiro does serves him well, it well allow him to create technology beyond I bet no one back home has imagined yet. Of course, there is little Shiro cannot do."

"I've noticed," Earendil deadpanned. "Seriously, he's almost like Rhea that way - except he actually has to learn instead of being able to do things just by being around people."
He paused thoughtfully, still dancing with Lin. "Though now that I'm thinking about it, I've never seen him do any magic."

Lin thought about it, she was pretty sure Shiro was capable of using magic. If what the story about Ura was true, Shiro was more than capable of using magic.
"I don't think it's really ever come up," Lin replied, "There's just so much of the sciences yet to be explored that I don't think he's actually touched upon that."
Well that, and Shiro seemed to love his technology.

"Possible," Earendil agreed. "Even in the time that he was here, so many years ... he was always so busy. One thing after another ..."
But that was just Shiro's way, he would always find some way to keep himself occupied - or obsessed, as the case may be.
