Ah, Violet Town. The place was pretty idyllic. Assuming Scarlet didn’t die early or stay so energetic, he figured this’d be a nice place to retire to when he was around ninety. Everyone seemed so relaxed, there were plenty of people to fight. But there was always that one place in a perfect little town: Sprout Tower. The massive tower was apparently built around a 100 foot tall bellsprout, and it was generally filled with monks who for some reason seriously enjoyed battling with the tower’s mascot. The place was filled with memories, memories Scarlet had technically made yesterday, sure, but memories none the less.
“Ugh, don’t remind me.” Those memories mainly consisted of a four foot tall sentient gas blob trying to eat his Cyndaquil. Scarlet took the time to glare at the pokeball containing his Gastly, Terumi.
Not too much later, Jasper posed a very good question. “Oh man, I haven’t eaten since I met up with this guy,” Scarlet said, nodding over toward Jett. He always did forget to eat when he’d gotten too into something, and the sudden jolt of freedom and the thrill of capturing pokemon was most definitely a distracting enterprise. “I could totally go for some grub. How ‘bout you, Jett?”

Amy watched the Pokeball carefully as it twitched a few times before resounding with a successful ding! She stared at the sphere for a moment, eyes wide and mouth agape, before letting out a small cheer and hurrying to collect it in her hands. She cradled the Pokeball carefully, turning to see how Karrigan and the Vulpix were faring, only to find that Aegeus had just been incapacitated.
"Wow," Amy whispered, watching the redheaded girl fearlessly continue with Zaira. She hoped that the Electric-type would be too energetic for the Fire-type to handle, but still, she seemed to hold her own. No doubt she would've given Tyrogue a battle if they hadn't intervened.
"Go Zaira!" Amy cheered from the sidelines, smiling brightly at Karrigan and whispering, "Good luck," to her as she strolled up beside her companion. The Pokeball rocked faintly in her hands at the sound of a fight, and the brunette would imagine that if Tyrogue had been a bit stronger, he would've burst out and leapt into the action.
He was just the Pokemon she needed, after all.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"Lunkhead?" the man snarled, face turning the color of a Slugma. "I'll show you!" He aimed a sausage digit at the Bibarel, sneering because, as far as he was concerned, that Pokemon was just a Normal-type and no attacks would put a decent scratch on Geodude. "Tackle!" The Rock Pokemon grunted an affirmative and rushed the Normal/Water-type, positioning one of his shoulders to ram straight into her.
Jade returned the smile after a slight pause, surprised at the boy's kindness. She only hoped that he was a decent battler, because even though kindness was nice, someone who sucked would only make the situation worse. It would only further inflate this guy's ego, something she very much wasn't interested in. She frowned at Solaris' Pokeball, wondering how the Vulpix would feel about them getting a new teammate sometime soon. As much as she'd like to think so, Solaris couldn't win every battle by herself.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"I've never been in there," the raven-haired commented absently, eyes flickering to the Sprout Tower. "It's a wonder that it doesn't collapse, though. Looks unstable." If Allan was here, he'd probably lecture his little brother to death on the structural integrity of the building. Jett smiled at the thought.
Violet didn't hold much for him now; he wasn't exactly interested in a new Pokemon just yet and the Trainer School wouldn't help that much when three older trainer siblings was all he needed to learn all about the world of Pokemon battling.
But at the mention of lunch, the boy did realize how hungry he actually was and simply nodded. "I could go for some food," he said quietly, and he idled for a moment before heading to the PokeCenter. Once the three had collected their food from the surprisingly quiet cafeteria, Jett sat down with a sandwich, a bag of chips, an apple, and a bottle of water. He opened the water and took a drink, unsure of what to say for a moment before a series of words that somehow formed a sentence tumbled from his mouth:
"So... what do we do now?"

The Rocket Admin couldn't hold back a smug smirk as the Drifblim flinched from Siren's Astonish, and she nodded at her Pokemon, deciding it best to not let up the offensive. "Now hit it hard with a Thunderbolt," she commanded, her voice harboring a cold, icy edge. The Misdreavus gave a slight laugh, her neck gems glowing bright yellow. She thrust her head back, launching a powerful-looking bolt of lightning at the Balloon Pokemon.
Upon hearing her partner's comment, Mai turned to look at her. "And you think we're a better team than they are?" Mai laughed, grinning at Katie as the orange-haired girl commanded her oddly-coloured Staravia to perform a Wing Attack, but it soon became obvious that Noa had other plans. The Starling Pokemon swooped down with nearly unbelievable speed, homing in on the Glameow like a missile and striking it squarely in the chest. The feline was sent for a ride a second time, but this time it managed to flip and land safely on its feet. "Congratulations," Mai said, flipping a lock of blonde hair over her shoulder. "Your Staravia now knows how to use Aerial Ace."
"You'll need more than Thunderbolts and Aerial Aces to defeat us!" Penny announced loudly, pointing at the Staravia. "Glameow, let's show them your electric attack! Shock Wave!" The Catty Pokemon let out a low hiss, generating a static bolt of her own that she sent unerringly towards the Staravia, hoping for some payback after being thrown around like a rag doll.
=-=-=-=-= Upon hearing Amy's cheering, Karrigan smiled brightly, and nodded. "We've got this," she said quietly, pointing at the snide little Vulpix. "Zaira, use Tackle attack! We need to weaken her some more!" Zaira gave a little mew and charged forward. It was safe to say that the Fox Pokemon was easily the clever of the two Pokemon, and while she was angered that her Confuse Ray had seemingly failed against the relentless Shinx, she figured she could easily outsmart her. The fox gave a cry and quickly jumped to the right, timing her dodge just perfectly so that the Shinx crashed head-first into one of the rocks that had been previously thrown by Aegeus.
Karrigan couldn't help but slap her forehead with her good palm as Zaira, while a little bit stunned, had taken a moment to shake the cobwebs out before turning to attack again. In that time, however, the Vulpix had already summoned the fiery energy within and was in the process of unleashing a torrent of flames that encircled the little Shinx, trapping her completely. Zaira's terrified cries could be heard over the roar of the fire, and taking the opportunity once again, the Vulpix charged through her Fire Spin, shielded by her Flash Fire ability, with a Quick Attack. A split second later, Zaira was knocked through the flames, landing heavily on her side and covered in painful burns, virtually identical to the manner in which the fox had defeated Ikouma.
"...I can't believe this," Karrigan murmured as she returned the Shinx to her Pokeball, proud of her effort though thoroughly frustrated by the Vulpix. I still have Lennier, though... the redhead thought, glaring at the Vulpix. At that particular moment, she realized the fox could have easily escaped, but there she stood, preening and quite proud of herself. "All right, you've asked for it," she growled, releasing the Kadabra. Lennier appeared in a flash of light, tilting his head curiously at the sight of the little fox. "Lennier... will you help me capture this Vulpix?" Karrigan asked with her thoughts.
The Kadabra slowly turned, looking back over his shoulder at the redhead. "As you wish," he responded mentally, sounding quite enthusiastic.
=-=-=-=-= Is this guy that much of an idiot? Jake thought as the sausage-fingered man called out for a Tackle attack. From what he'd experienced from battling the Rock/Ground-types before, they had plenty of other moves at their disposal, most of which were far more powerful than a simple Tackle. Jake decided not to question the man's already questionable intelligence, and he nodded. "Bibarel, brace yourself, and counter with a Water Gun," he said curtly, crossing one arm over his chest while the other kept a firm grip on his aviator jacket.
Bibarel wasn't too keen on letting that hunk of rock slam into her, as she'd had more than enough of these Geodudes to last for quite some time. Her trainer's voice seemed different somehow, though, and she braced herself, dropping to all fours. Instead of tensing up, she relaxed, grunting a bit as the heavy Pokemon rammed its solid shoulder into her side. Refusing to show any pain despite the new-found ache she felt, Bibarel then jumped back, her cheeks billowing out as they filled with water which was then fired, high-pressure, at the offending Geodude.

The boy has a large smug smile on his ugly face. He even rubs his thumb across his nose like a famous martial artist did in his movies. He can't use that move! I use that move when training! His Riolu looks to his trainer then to the berry. The riolu eats the berry and smiles as it licks it's lips, yummy. Zii nods to me as I nod back to him. This tells him that it's time to end the small dog like fighting type pokemon.
Zii bends down onto all fours and with a sling shot style sprint, he races toward the riolu with determination to take it out. But, when Zii manages to get a few feet away the riolu shines with bright light. It stops Zii in mid sprint with it's amazing twinkles, and even has me in awe. What is going on?
I flip out my Pokedex and point it toward the glowing pokemon.
"Lucario, The Aura Pokemon; A well-trained one can sense auras to identify and take in the feelings of creatures over half a mile away."
I jump for joy as I finally get to see a Lucario! I see why that magikarp of a kid was grinning from ear to ear. I'd be high and mighty too if I evolved a Lucario in mid battle too! This is a once in a lifetime sight.
"Well kid you revealed something amazing today. I'm glad I fought you and got to see a riolu evolve into a Lucario. But, I'm sorry to say I'm still going to have Zii kick your Lucario's butt."

The concept of actually using Pokemon Centers was still somewhat daunting for Jasper, and he hung back slightly as Jett and Scarlet entered before following after them. 'This still feels so surreal,' he thought as he eyed the few trainers waiting in line to get treatment for their Pokemon before he and the other two found their way to the cafeteria, which was virtually empty. It took Jasper another long moment as he struggled with his pride and angrily protesting stomach, but before long his hunger won out and he grabbed a tray, now eying the various foods that had been placed out before them. He selected a bottle of orange juice as well as a good-sized orange before grabbing a couple of sandwiches. Normally, Jasper hated sandwiches, as it was one of the primary things he'd been forced to eat in his last foster home, but since it was free food, he chose not co complain. He piled on a bit more fruit and some kind of fruity looking pastry thing before he realized he should grab something for his Pokemon, and finally with a fairly burdensome tray he made his way over to where they'd chosen to plunk themselves down.
He unscrewed the cap of the orange juice bottle and downed about half of it in one go, wiping his mouth on the back of his sleeve as he looked to Jett, who'd taken a rare opportunity to be the first one to speak. "I dunno," he answered truthfully, releasing Ditto and Totodile so they could eat. He'd thought about letting Paras out as well, but he was certain the little Mushroom Pokemon would have taken off out of sheer fright rather than eat. "Are you going to challenge the gym leader here?" he asked Scarlet between mouthfuls of sandwich, eying his two bluish Pokemon carefully to make sure they didn't cause any trouble. * * * * * * * * * * 'Oh I hope I don't mess this one up,' Hayley thought with a frown, her eyes fixed on the two small female Pokemon in front of her. She fidgeted a bit with her Pokedex, bringing up the list of moves that Mya had access to even though she didn't think it would have changed much since earlier in that day. New to the list, however, was something Hayley remembered seeing during her initial look-up of the Rattata when she'd captured Mya earlier that morning - Focus Energy! Grinning, the brown-haired girl nodded to her Rattata. "Try out your Focus Energy," she called, and the mouse nodded, her tail and whiskers twitching as she concentrated, feeling a rush of adrenaline shoot through her.
At her side, the Nidoran seemed to look a little braver as she shot a glare up at the Spearow, giving a fierce growl. The pair of birds seemed to falter a little, feeling a little less inclined to attack the buck-toothed duo now. "You guys are doing great!" Hayley called as both birds swooped in for a Peck attack. "Mya! Tackle! And cute little Nidoran, try and Scratch 'em!" she called, having switched back to the Nidoran's Pokedex page. The two Pokemon nodded, though instead of attacking separate targets, Mya deftly dodged out of the way of one Spearow so that she could join up with the Nidoran. Mya's tackle hit hard, knocking the second bird out of the air while the first flew back up, looking a bit rattled. The Nidoran took the opportunity to deliver a fierce scratch to the Spearow's face, causing it to screech out in pain.

Scarlet shuffled into line, stroking his chin thoughtfully as Cindy scampered up onto his back, the now extinguished flame patches making her look a bit sleeker. After a few moments of quiet retrospection, some murmurs, and a bit of paw waving, Scarlet grabbed a couple of turkey sandwiches, a banana, and a bottle of milk. Piling up his little on a tray, he followed the others. Sure, it was sort of a bland meal, but the empty void in his gut kept him from thinking about it at all. He tore one of the sandwiches in half, holding it over his shoulder for Cindy. As the Quilava began happily nibbling on the bread, Jett asked a rather important question. After all, this was the point where they decided what they’d do next. Scarlet merely shrugged, then looked over at Jasper.
“I’m not really ready for a flying gym. Those birds are way too maneuverable, and Cindy’s all I’ve got to really attack with.” After all, Halibel, being a fish, and a depressingly weak fish at that, probably wouldn’t even hit, let alone hurt any of Falkner’s pokemon. On the other hand, Terumi, who was probably the quickest and most agile of Scarlet’s team, mainly dealt in ghost type moves that were physically incapable of remotely affecting any of Falkner’s half normal team. “It’s a pretty awful match up for me right now, so I’ll probably do it later. What about you guys?”
Scarlet looked over at Jett, blinking. “I mean, I imagine you’ve pretty much finished up your business here, right?”
---
The walk through the grass to the north was horribly silent. There didn’t seem to be very many trainers around, and other than a pidgey flying overhead, and a sentret popping out of the grass every now and then, everything was almost terrifyingly silent. Alex didn’t have much to contend with but her own thoughts, since the slumbering-but-somehow-active Blues apparently didn’t have much to say.
I am such a failure seemed to be a rather popular conclusion she kept coming to. After all, she ordered Roll to charge headfirst toward a bulbasaur, a pokemon that probably would’ve had to go out of its way not to knock out the larvitar in a single hit. And while Alex had her life goals, she only had one real responsibility: keep Roll safe and happy. The level of failure she’d achieved in that regard astounded her.
“Do you think she’ll hate me?” She looked over at the Abra who was keeping pace beside her. But his expression didn’t shift in the least. He didn’t say anything, nod, even turn around.
Guess he’s on autopilot… Alex thought. Her shoulders slumped a bit. She felt so alone. A constantly sleeping Abra and an angry toddler probably wouldn’t make the best travelling partner. But at least there was kind of a bright side. The Pokemon center was in sight, and with the danger for the most part passed, Alex quietly reached into her bag, retrieved Blues’ pokeball, and called him back. She walked into the shelter of the building as quickly as she could, approaching the front desk and placing the Abra and the Larvitar on the counter. After what seemed like an eternity of nervous stammering, the nurse simply smiled.
“Don’t worry. Your pokemon will be fine. You can wait here, if you like.” Nurse Joy nodded toward a nearby rest area, picked up the spheres, and headed to the back.
Alex smiled a bit and nodded, walking over to a bench and taking a seat. Hopefully, everything would be alright.

The brunette carefully watched the battle between the two quick Pokemon, listening to the confidence in Karrigan's voice. Had she been that confident and clear when she was battling Tyrogue? Or that man from last night? Or even Jerome, in the contest? The thought made her wince; she was really letting Marshall down lately, wasn't she? No matter how many times she vowed to change and get stronger, all she was doing was depending on that poor Pokemon and letting him take the fall for her own mistakes.
Her attention returned to the battle at hand when she saw that the Vulpix had incapacitated another member of Karrigan's team. How that little fox had managed to defeat three of Karrigan's arguably strong Pokemon confounded her, and a little part of her was glad that someone was going to capture the wily little thing. Someone who would treat her right, for sure. The Fire-type would probably get so impatient with Amy. Tyrogue might, too, but that thought she pushed away for the moment.
The bespectacled girl smiled slightly, eager to see the outcome of this particular battle. No matter how crafty this Vulpix may be, she was sure that a Psychic-type would pose quite the challenge.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"Water Gun," the man repeated in a soft grunt, confusion leaking into his tone. Last he checked, Bidoof was a Normal-type, so why would it suddenly become a Water-type? He grimaced slightly, wishing sincerely he had acquired a Pokedex so he could learn more of his own Pokemon's moves. "Uhh, dodge it, Geodude!"
"Geodude," the Rock/Ground-type grunted in return just as his attack landed true, a nasty grin finding its way to his face. That grin was short-lived, however, when the opposing Pokemon leapt back and blasted water at him, eliciting a sharp, surprisingly high-pitched cry from the Rock Pokemon. He stumbled back, shielding his face and trying to resist the urge to faint from the super-effective move.
Jade watched the battle with mild interest; once she realized that the Bibarel was capable of Water Gun and checked her typing (Normal/Water, not that the stupid oaf knew that), she knew it wouldn't take too long. Good, the faster she could heal Solaris up, the better. She wasn't interested in boosting this guy's ego with a win at all, so she hoped that this stranger knew just what he was doing.
The more she watched the man, the more sorry Jade felt for him. It was hard to resist that surge of pity she felt when she heard him fumble to call for another Tackle attack, probably not even knowing that his Geodude had better and stronger attacks. Whatever, she thought with a small scowl. That's just his karma for getting in my way, not to mention the countless others he no doubtedly bothered. Serves him right.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Jett belatedly released River and Athena, muttering a slight apology. He handed the Psychic-type the apple to nibble on, who took it after a moment of hesitation, and offered half of his sandwich to Athena. Both of his Pokemon seemed generally displeased; Jett guessed that was because of his new discovery about River and that was Athena's general disposition. He was confused as to what he should feed Aerosmith, but when looking some information up on his new Pokedex, he read that Beautifly generally like to suck nectar and pollen from flowers. He'd be sure to take the Bug/Flying-type out to find some flowers later, then.
The raven-haired boy looked at Scarlet as Jasper followed up his question with a question of his own. He was rather curious to find out if the redheaded boy planned to challenge the gym or not, and smiled wryly at his answer. Falkner's gym had been quite the challenge, especially since none of his Pokemon at the time had been capable of going airborne. It was understandable why most trainers these days caught an Electric-type before challenging it.
"Well, uh, yeah," Jett said quietly, blinking slightly at Scarlet's directness. He took a sip of water and opened his bag of chips, eating one as he thought the question over for a moment. He really wanted to get to Azalea, but he didn't necessarily want to be alone. He didn't know the path that lay ahead of him. At the same time, he didn't want to be rude and stop any of his newfound friends from taking their own paths...
"I guess I'd like to go to Azalea, to challenge um... Bugsy?" he said uncertainly, suddenly very interested in the table. River glanced his way, catching the boy's emotions, and scooted a bit closer, patting his arm reassuringly. Jett looked back up at Jasper. "Well, what did you want to do? Were you going to challenge Falkner?"

"R-really?" Jason said suddenly, nearly dropping his pencil. Cynthia accepted his request! This was so amazing, how many people could say they got to see the League Champion's pokemon in action! "This is a wonderful opportunity for my field research, studying pokemon with trainers is just as important as studying wild pokemon, it is key in improving and understanding human and pokemon relations. To see how a pokemon can flourish in the hands of a confident strong trainer, this is awesome! Um um, Atlas is kinda tired even though he's feeling better...So he has to take a break." The boy said as he petted the rock snake's head, though the Onix protested eager to enter battle. But Jason just smiled and recalled him, sending out his other pokemon instead. is net ball opened up in the air, it's beam looking like a fishing net that released it's catch as a cute Mantyke took form. The Kite Pokemon smiled bouncing up and down happily, surprised to see the long haired trainer from before and an intimidating looking pokemon with it's arms crossed. "Heh heh, you remember Poseidon right? He and Zeus are the only other pokemon I have, guess It won't be a big battle. You guys ready to give it all you got?" Jason asked with a smirk, Zeus hovered around which Jason took as him giving his consent, and Poseidon's antennae waved excitedly as he bounced around. "Alrighty then! Poseidon's up first, we're ready when you are Champ." Jason couldn't stop grinning, this was great! either he didn't realized how outclassed he was, or he didn't care.

"Ah of course of course, disculpa me Lieutenant. But of course you are correct, this is a battle indeed!" Carlos strummed in excitement as Maria dove in striking the pikachu again, it looked like this one was in the bag. But one could only expect a pokemon getting beaten on to sleep so long, and before her attack could take full effect the young pikachu managed to wake up and jump away from Maria's beak. Carlos's rhythm got destroyed as he awkwardly strummed random strings watching helplessly as Maria looked up at the acrobatic pikachu, her cheeks sparking as she fired a bolt of electricity upon landing. Maria tried to recover from her interrupted attack, but a pain surged through her body as she became paralyzed again, not that it made a difference considering the nature of Shockwave. The little song bird cried out as she was struck nearly point blank with the electrical blast, hitting the floor dazed, cooing weakly and slightly burnt. "Aye no Maria! If only that Pikachu had slept longer, should have expected this when I sent out a flying pokemon. Bueno, shall we continue?" Carlos said with a sigh, recalling Maria to her pokeball as he released the next one. "Julio, vamos a bailar!" He called out as the Lombre erupted out of his sphere, twirling in place as he landed. "This time it won't be a one hit victory!"
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Don't play dumb with me. I know all about your plans and your tricks!" Crenu called back, his cold steely grey-blue eyes locked on hers, though as he watched her eyes start to tear up he felt a sharp tug somewhere deep in his heart. His gaze wavered for a moment but he shook his head as the voice in his head reassured him that this was a part of the act, of course she'd keep trying to trick him now, she was good. But every time he looked into her teary eyes and at her face he couldn't help but feel that tug deep down inside. "Y-you've been against me from the start haven't you! You and your red haired boyfriend, you're both in on this... taking me for a ride! Pretending to care about me so you could have an easy pass into the finals, you can't fool me!" His left eye twitched as he stared at her, as if part of him was protesting, in pain for giving her a stare with such murderous intent. But that part of him was small and overpowered by his paranoia.
While Crenu fought with himself, Poliwhirl was fighting with Akima, and as he pulled his fist out from the smashed in stage he rubbed it lightly, trying to ignore the radiating pain that was pulsing through it. That was twice now he'd smashed the stage with his fist, and it was kinda sore from him using it to slingshot himself around. But he wasn't giving up until that damn sneasel was pulp! Throwing all those hard full strength attacks one after another were taking their toll on him though, and Poliwhirl was visibly breathing harder. He smashed his fists together and started running at Akima again, not needing any command to keep going, ignoring the cold blast that washed over him. Oblivious to the crystals forming around his legs slowing his movement, Poliwhirl powered through it charging into the bind Akima blew, this was his match! He wasn't going into storage forever, never ever ever! He laughed maliciously pushing into the attack head on, fist aglow. A quick nod from Crenu letl him know that he still had his go ahead, not that it mattered, and so he pushed in towards his target swinging another massive Brick Break at her.

Ditto and Totodile had taken their respective meals beneath the table, though the former of the two Pokemon had shifted its form to that of a Pikachu, its favourite guise. The gator Pokemon was still somewhat unnerved by her teammate's baffling ability, but it seemed like a nice enough Pokemon so she ate in silence, realizing she wouldn't have known that the mouse Pokemon before her was a fake if she hadn't witnessed the transformation first-hand. Jasper only knew the two Pokemon were still there, because if he tried to move either of his feet even slightly, he'd kick them both, and he knew better than to do so. Not only did Ditto look the part of the electric rodent it currently mimicked, but it was fully capable of dishing out a rather fearsome electric shock if it wanted to.
Jasper's thoughts were still revolving almost entirely around the Magmar he intended to capture in the hopefully near-ish future, so he startled a bit when Jett asked him a question. "Me? Nah," he said, shaking his head. "Well, someday, yeah, but not in the near future. I mean, Ditto could probably hold his own for a while, but Totodile's still young and inexperienced. My other Pokemon is a Paras, laughably weak against birds seeing as he's a bug and grass type." His mind ran over the lists of potential moves his Pokemon could learn in the future, and he knew there was a lot of training in his future. "Doesn't matter to me, I can always come back to Violet someday anyway." He bit into another one of the sandwiches, chewing thoughtfully. "Bugsy, eh?" he said, eying Jett. "That'd be a match I'd like to see." * * * * * * * * * * 'Mya looks so... confident, so determined,' Hayley thought, watching her tiny Pokemon with wide eyes. The little mouse Pokemon let out a growl and deftly hopped to the side to avoid a swooping peck attack that had been launched by one of the Spearow, while the Nidoran had held her ground, rising up on her hind legs and batting at the second Spearow with her sharp claws as it dove into her. The brunette couldn't quite understand why her Pokemon seemed so eager to battle after that humiliating loss they'd suffered earlier, but as she watched the Rattata battle, she started to understand. Mya wasn't fighting alongside the Nidoran for her, she was fighting for the Nidoran, and for herself. The determined look the Rattata wore was reminiscent of the one Cynder wore whenever Hayley sent him into a battle. Despite their pitiful string of losses, the Charmander had remained steadfastly loyal, and determined to do his best, not only for her, but for himself, as well. A few tears welled up in her stark green eyes but she quickly wiped them away. She was still new to this whole trainer thing, and she still had a lot to learn, so she couldn't let a few (okay, so it was more than a few by this point) losses get to her.
"Show them your Quick Attack!" Hayley found herself shouting, surprising herself in the process. She very rarely raised her voice like that, but she knew one of her major downfalls during a battle was the fact that she would freeze up as if she'd been hit by an Ice Beam and be more or less useless when her Pokemon needed her the most. Liking her trainer's tone of voice, Mya gave a cry and poured on the speed, zipping around like a tiny purple comet before she slammed into the poisoned Spearow, sending it for a loop. These two birds were quite a bit weaker than Jan's had been, but Hayley either didn't care, or didn't notice. The Nidoran was proving herself to be no pushover as well, as though her only attack seemed to be Scratch she was making good use of it, tearing into the Spearow that had attacked her and ripping out clawfuls of feathers in the process. The two birds seemed to be second-guessing their choice to attack that Nidoran, even though she had been foolish enough to wander onto their territory.

That Vulpix has taken down Ikouma, Aegeus and Zaira, so it's up to you, Karrigan thought-spoke towards the Kadabra, who nodded once before turning to face the small fox. The little Fire-type was glaring daggers at Lennier, who simply twitched an ear and twirled his Twistedspoon once in his oddly-deft hands as the fox gave several short and angry-sounding barks.
'...that's a rather rude comment for such a tiny Pokemon,' the Kadabra retorted, his telepathy broadcasting to all in the vicinity. The Vulpix growled in reply and her eyes flashed, and immediately Karrigan recognized it as a Confuse Ray. She'd been about to shout a warning to Lennier, but in the blink of an eye he'd vanished, reappearing a split-second later behind the Vulpix. The Fox looked utterly bewildered as to where her target had gone, but by the time she realized he was behind her, she was too late. 'Enough of that,' said the Kadabra as he raised his spoon, and sent out a peculiar wave of energy and Disabling the Vulpix's sneaky Confuse Ray attack.
The fox seemed a bit lost, as she could no longer recall what she'd been trying to do, so she simply whirled around and blasted the Kadabra with a strong little Ember. Karrigan admittedly felt a little awkward with Lennier taking this battle into his own hands, so she simply withdrew a second Pokeball and waited for an opportunity to throw it. Sensing his new trainer's apprehensive thoughts, Lennier glanced at her, stepping back out of range of a second Ember attack. 'Apologies, Miss Karrigan,' he said, but Karrigan blinked, and waved her hand.
"By all means, teach the brat a lesson," the redhead said, her usual small-smile appearing once again as Lennier turned to the Vulpix, who was rearing back for what looked like a Fire Spin. The Kadabra raised both his hands and sent out a bolt of kinetic energy that blasted the fox off her feet and sent her rolling along the ground. When she came to a stop, Karrigan didn't hesitate to fling the Pokeball, inadvertently crossing her fingers as the fox was sucked into the sphere...
=-=-=-=-= It wasn't until he heard the Geodude's pained cry that Jake's ice-cold glare began to melt, and for a moment he faltered, leaving an opening for the now-soaked Rock/Ground-type to once again ram its shoulder into Bibarel's chest. The Beaver Pokemon shot a rather nasty look at Jake, snapping him out of his mild daze, and he shook it off. "Err, sorry, Bibarel, Water Gun, once more," he said, running a hand through his naturally-messy blonde hair in hopes of smoothing it out, but the motion was in vain as the stubborn strands continued to stick up like they always did.
Bibarel's cheeks bulged once again and she loosed the stream of cold water at the Rock Pokemon, not wanting for that annoying thing to ram into her again. Jake averted his eyes from the Geodude, not wanting to watch it get slammed by a second super-effective attack. That poor Pokemon, he thought, shaking his head, but he quickly pushed any thoughts of pity away. This was a battle, after all, and this awful trainer had obviously been pestering the young girl that was now sort of hiding behind him. He chanced a glance at her but averted his eyes a second time as he saw the small scowl etched onto her otherwise pretty features. Oookay then.
=-=-=-=-= "All right, Baby, nice work," Surge called out, his voice echoing loudly off the walls even though he hadn't really raised his tone all that much. The young Pikachu flashed a grin back at her trainer and gave him a thumbs-up, though as she looked back at the fallen Swablu as it was recalled, her ears drooped a little as she felt a little guilty for hurting the poor thing like that. She shook it off, though, having suffered a few losses herself, as handed out by both Mr Reid's Pikachu, and Surge's Raichu, but she knew the only way she'd get tougher was to take on tougher opponents.
Both Surge and the mouse Pokemon tilted their heads slightly at the sight of the Lombre before them. It was safe to say that Baby had never seen one before, and Surge vaguely recalled that the thing could turn into some sort of dancing-duck-billed-sombrero-wearing-pineapple-duck thing, though when he glanced back at Carlos' attire, he laughed heartily, recognizing the pattern on his poncho. "AHAHAHA, That's great!" he laughed, though it was good-natured. "Okay Baby, this one will be trickier, so let's show them that we have a few tricks of our own! Give 'em that Attract you've been workin' on!"
The Mouse Pokemon nodded and brought both her hands and tail up to cover her face before peeking out from behind her tail at the Lombre and giving a sweet little wave, batting her eyelashes. "Chuuuu," she called out, being sure to pour on the cuteness.
=-=-=-=-= Lucario once again glanced back at Cynthia, not entirely sure this was the greatest of ideas. His trainer's aura was resolute, and though he knew this poor boy was way out of his league in challenging them, they certainly didn't plan on going all-out against him. If anything, Cynthia was more interested in seeing what Jason's young Pokemon were capable of. "Ah, yes, I remember that little fellow," she said, giving the little Mantyke a nod. Despite its massive weakness to Jason's Magnemite, the little guy had made it quite a fight before his capture.
"Okay, Jason, I hope you're ready," Cynthia said, smiling lightly. She glanced to Lucario, who tensed, the tendrils at the sides of his head rising slightly. "Calm Mind," the champion said quietly, and Lucario bowed his head and closed his eyes as he cleared his mind of all stray thoughts, a slight bluish hue covering his body as he did so. "Your move," Cynthia said, nodding to the hat-wearing boy.

If she wasn't confused before, Riza was definitely confused now. Crenu was shouting across the stage at her, and though she understood the words he was saying to her, she had absolutely no idea where all this had come from. Playing him? Tricking him? The word 'paranoid' quickly came to mind as Riza found her shock and hurt swiftly changing gears into anger and annoyance as he continued his onslaught of accusations, one of which now accused her of scheming with a red-haired boyfriend. She'd been about to shout back at him that she didn't even know any redheads when she remembered that one time in Slateport. 'He thinks I've been sneaking around with Keegan?' she thought exasperatedly, and she very nearly started laughing right then and there, though she held back as she didn't think it would help the situation. In all honesty, she hadn't seen Keegan since the night of the Breeder's Gala, shortly after his very kind mother had given her Eris and the redhead had that outburst with that annoying twit of a blonde girl, Kasiya or whatever her name was. Admittedly Riza had started to develop an attraction to the redhead, though it quickly became apparent that he had eyes for the blonde and no one else, prompting Riza to give up on him.
The raven haired girl shook her head, glaring at Crenu across the battlefield. "Are you crazy, or just plain stupid?" she shouted, very much aware that this was really neither the time nor place for them to be having this argument. The crowd's cheers were loud, however, so she doubted anyone but Lillian and the judges could realy hear them. "I guess you just haven't noticed me caring about you these last few days, as you're too busy being jealous over someone that's not even a blip on my radar!"
Her grey eyes quickly went back to the battlefield where she saw Poliwhirl rubbing his hand, which must have been starting to hurt him a lot from his repeated smashings of the stage. Crenu gave the OK for another Brick Break, and Riza suddenly had an idea. "Akima, try to avoid getting hit, but give his fist a Brick Break of your own!"
Akima grit her teeth, not liking the idea of going toe to toe with the brute of a Pokemon, but Riza's command made sense. The swift Sneasel darted forward, her own claws glowing brightly as she planned her every movement in advance. Poliwhirl's big fist swung around towards her but she threw herself to the ground, sliding beneath the tadpole's glowing fist like a runner stealing second base in a baseball game. She could feel the air rush by her as he even grazed the top of her head, but she recovered quickly, already on her feet and lashing out to strike Poliwhirl's already injured hand with her own relatively strong Brick Break. * * * * * Siren's Thunderbolt shot through the air towards the Drifblim, looking like it would hit until the Balloon Pokemon puffed up its body and drifted up and out of the way. "Nice job, Drifblim!" Adam called. "Stockpile, again!" Despite the continued use of Stockpile, he didn't think his Drifblim knew how to use Spit Up or Swallow yet, but it was a nice move to use to bolster the Pokemon's defenses. Its large body glowed once again as it continued to store power, floating ominously above the makeshift battle field.
Katie, meanwhile, was growing tired of Mai's irksome comments and she scoffed and kept her attention on her Staravia as the Starling Pokemon tried to outrun the electrical energy that was in hot pursuit. It sped along right behind her, taking every shortcut it could until it chased her down and struck her from behind, snaking around her body with a loud hissing and crackling. She could hear Penny's obnoxious cheering over Noa's pained cries, and Katie growled, clenching a fist. "Noa! Show us that Aerial Ace again!" she shouted.
Noa trilled loudly in reply and sped down towards the Glameow once again, her wings tucked in against her body to help cut down her wind resistance. The Staravia's body glowed brightly as she homed in on the Catty Pokemon, not wanting to be attacked by another Shock Wave.

Needless to say, Lillian was a little more than baffled by how this semi-final round was playing out. Never before, in all her years of emceeing, did she ever witness two coordinators having an all-out shouting match across the stage, the contest round itself almost seemingly forgotten save for the occasional commands spoken by either Riza or Crenu, though for the most part, the latter had seemingly let his Pokemon run wild. "Poliwhirl's fierce attacks may look devastating, but in reality the only thing that's being devastated are Shiro Crenu's points thanks to Akima's splendid and graceful dodges!" Lillian called out, more than a little aware of the already-commanding lead Riza and her Sneasel had taken in this round. "Crenu and Poliwhirl had better shape up, or all their points are about to be shipped out! Also, coordinators, this is your three minute warning!" she called out just as the clock ticked down from 2:59. Despite the massive gap in the two coordinator's points, however, even Lillian knew that if even a few of those powerful strikes from Poliwhirl were to connect with the Sneasel, this match could go in a totally different direction.
=-=-=-=-= I think I hate that Pokemon, Mai thought indignantly as the ridiculous Balloon Pokemon floated safely out of the reach of Siren's Thunderbolt. Not only that, but the thing kept stockpiling energy, and Mai was more than well aware of just how devastating a fully-powered Spit Up could be. The admin's mind raced through strategies as she plotted the best way to deal with this tricky Pokemon. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the orange-haired girl's Staravia take a solid hit from the Glameow's Shock Wave, but she appeared to be quite able to continue battling as she dove down for a second Aerial Ace. Of course the move was unavoidable, but that hadn't seemed to register in Penny's mind as she'd been screeching for her catty Pokemon to dodge, but it was, of course, to no avail and once again the feline was sent for a ride, though this time it had difficulty getting to its feet. Mai raised an eyebrow, glancing between the Staravia and the Drifblim. "Siren, new target," she called quickly. "Glameow. Confuse Ray. Now."
The Misdreavus moved quickly and positioned herself in front of the Glameow as it recovered, the dark pearls of the Ghost-type's necklace shining with an eerie glow. The Glameow had no chance to try and avoid it, and the feline began to stagger almost drunkenly as confusion set in. "No! Glameow, Faint Attack that Misdreavus!" Penny screeched, but the cat Pokemon didn't seem to be paying attention to anything but the ground at its feet, which it seemed to find particularly interesting.
"Katie, focus on the Drifblim," Mai told the girl sharply; her tone highly indicative that it was not a suggestion.

Katie's long ponytails whipped around behind her as she turned her head to stare at Mai, her ruby coloured eyes wide with both surprise and anger. She'd been about to argue, but her mind replayed how easily the Drifblim had been evading Siren's attacks. 'Of course, it's a Balloon Pokemon,' the girl thought, narrowing her eyes. She pointed up at the Drifblim while casting a glare at Mai. "Fine, but only because it's strategically beneficial, not because you said so," she snapped, her tone purposefully venomous. "Noa, use Whirlwind on the Drifblim! Take him for a ride!" she called, her gaze now following her shiny Staravia as the bird gave a happy trill to show her agreement. Noa's wings flapped rapidly as she soared above the Drifblim, sending a strong gale of wind rushing down at the Balloon Pokemon, hopefully making it lose control of its own body so it would become an easy target.
Adam, while significantly cleverer than his little sister, was a little slow on the draw this time, and didn't realize what was happening until it was too late. "Drifblim, no!" he shouted. "Push yourself back with a Gust!" Drifblim's terrified cries could be heard as Noa's fierce Whirlwind sent him towards the ground, and even though it unleashed a strong wind of its own, it wasn't enough to counteract Noa's Whirlwind. Drifblim's cries were drowned out as it went face-first into the ground below before bouncing up again, clearly dazed from the strange, albeit successful attack.

Kimiko was gliding on her hot pink bike along route 205. Her black and pink mini skirt had ridden up and was exposing her blue and white striped panties. Something she hoped would happen on accident, she did just receive the “kawaii” pair the other day, why not show them off?? The wind whipped back her fiery red hair, for the moment she felt like a kid again, a kid covered in self-tanner. Her bike hit a down slope and Kimiko extended her legs out in front of herself. “weeeeee!” she exclaimed. The Eevee sitting in the bicycle’s basket yipped in excitement. As the ground leveled out, she felt a pop and her bike wobble. “Woah!” she squeaked as she stopped the bike. A very audible hissing sound buzzed in her ears, “UGH! A flat!” she groaned. The Eevee yipped again, “No Kadaj, I can’t do it again. We have to go get this fixed!” She scratched his head with her long pink nails. “I guess we’ll have to walk to Eternia city from here. We’re lucky there’s a bike shop there.” She quickly pulled down her skirt over her butt, though it barely covered it. Along with Kadaj there was something wrapped in the basket, she delicately unwrapped the top. It was an egg, something her grandparents sent her; she laid her hand on it and felt how warm it was. “Still very warm, good…” After a brief pause, she began to walk her bike into Eternia city.

Mag continued to watch the contest from backstage. This round between Riza and Crenu had been relatively boring. It wasn’t much like a contest at all at this point, it seemed that Crenu had forgone flashy attacks in favor of a brute force offense that was fairly ineffective at the moment. But a good hit would definitely be painful for the Sneasel and it could even turn the match around. What was stranger than the all out battle approach was the fact that the two coordinators seemed to be fighting about something.
=== “What do you think they’re talking about?” Rajasi asked Claire as the two sat in the audience. The boy frowned as he watched the nimble Sneasel dodge another Brick Break just in the nick of time.
”I dunno. But it seems more important to the two of them than putting on a show for us.” Claire replied. To be honest, she was a bit disappointed that Crenu wasn’t using crazy tactics like freezing the floor and making ice pillars this round. His Poliwhirl definitely got style points for destructive power, but the fact that Riza’s Sneasel was able to dodge every blow meant that he was always losing the more vital score points.
