i would say yea i play the flute too but its kinda obvious that i do cause im posting in this topic but i play in a small town high school band. we dont have a jazz band or a marching band we just play at basketball games sometimes and have 4 yearly big deal concerts. honors band concert, mass band concert, christmas concert and spring concert. we try to do alot but its a small town with only a population of 1200 and the band of only 40.

Yea I play the flute and it's really fun. The only thing is I can't quite play the G flat concert scale. sweatdrop I'm working on it though, lol.

yea right now im working on going to contest in march. im in a flute trio and a woodwind quartet and my whole band is going and on top of that im doing a chior solo and im in a ssa and a satb chior group going to contest. im just worried about my flute parts not so much the chior.

So, I'm pretty sure that I've got the memorizing part of my solo down, but the rest still needs some help... I think that I need to practice more with the piano.

My band has about 80 people in it, but for concert season the directors split us up into two bands. This is the first time they have ever did this. It is so hard going from 80 to about 25. My flute section went from 8 to 3! crying I like having the bigger section. Wahhhh!

lol Ive been playing flute for about 5 or 6 years idk what and Ive made 1st place in the solos and ensambles and Ive either been 1st or 2nd chair in the band and now I got promoted to the wind ensamble which is like one of the best bands ever!!!!! lol Go Flutes!!!

Holy crap! biggrin
I <3 flutes. Our band is 150-odd members strong, it's really fun when you know everyone. I recently moved up into 1st band from 2nd band and it's been... surprising. Honestly, I feel like I belong there.
I don't know what I'll do in college without band. I guess I'll go to the football games. :3

Thats about how many ppl attend my school! in the high school i'm going to next year it's almost double that... lawl. really crazyyy.

We have about triple that in my school, 3700, and we're only supposed to have 3200. We're a tad bit crowded >.< Two new high schools are opening up in the district though, which will be very relieving, although I'm graduating this year so, doesn't really matter to me. And my band is somewhere between 150 and 200 members strong O.o Putting it in this perspective, my school is freaking huge >.<

I wish our band was 150 to 200 people. I bet when bands are that big they have amazing half time shows.
