Gwyn sighed a bit, it was a little disheartening to hear the only life after the academy was missions. There was no greater goal or purpose. There was only to live and die for the village. Gwyn would change all that. There had to be something greater then just missions and training. What use was power if there was nothing to do with it? The young girls personal goal was to find that missing answer. For now she would do her training and she would do her missions, but perhaps latter she would find her own goal, but no matter what happened she would always owe a debt of gratitude towards the village that was teaching her to grow into such a fine young woman.

Gwyn laughed a bit when Tenshi mentioned the bit about hearing stories. She must have perfected the art of appearing nonchalant when people talked to her to have them not realize she couldn't hear them. "I can't say I have ever heard such stories. But then again, I don't hear much of anything." Gwyn stretched her body on the ground, working out her sore muscles. As much as she hated sitting around doing nothing it was probably what was best for her body at the moment, she wasn't tired by any means but she had been holding her self lock armed for such a long time that her joints had actually started hurting. Laying on the ground she forgot all that pain, only to bring it again to the surface as she rolled on to her stomach to get ready to do another push up.

She did it with little trouble but as she got back down to the ground something began gnawing at Gwyns brain. It was Tenshi's earlier question about lunch. She was unsure how such a thing worked because this was her first day. She assumed that some form of lunch would be provided, that would after all be the most humane thing to do seeing as they were still all just kids. Then again this was the village known for pitting kids to fight to the death just to prove they were to most powerful, who knows what kind of twisted stuff this village could come up with. True that practice had long sense been abandoned, but it didn't change the matter at all. "I don't know." Gwyn left it at that, because really beside that there was not much more to say on the matter.

Gwyns mind once more returned to the future. And not just to lunch, but far beyond that. She thought of life as a Ninja of the Mist. Two team members by her side, each one with their own set of unique talents. She couldn't help but wonder if she would been teamed with Tarou and Tenshi, and if she was, what kind of advantage each would bring to the team. Hell, what would she bring to the team? She couldn't see or hear so she would not be the most valuable member of a search squad. Yet her instincts were so sharp she knew things that other with the gift of sight and hearing couldn't possible know, so she would be perfect for a search squad. Maybe they would be a team of battlers, the front line? Or perhaps even medics. Though Gwyn doubted that as the human body had never particularly interested her.

Finally having been able to finish a push up, Tarou felt more determined than ever.

Actually, not really. That was sort of a complete lie. What tarou did know now, was that stretching helped quite a bit. He didn’t really quite get the whole idea of his muscles being tense, since they had felt alright the whole time he was working on those pus ups. However, he was always open to ideas, and since Andou was their teacher, he was most likely correct in all possible aspects of their Academy life. Shrugging to himself, he got up to stretch again, trying out different stretches that his father had taught him

What would happen if he did graduate? He couldn’t even imagine graduating the academy, since he was such an incompetent person at times. He did lack will and determination and even confidence… However, he hoped that even with all of his faults, he would make it to at least a gennin before he died from running too fast, or something. Tarou got up to attempt to touch his toes, struggling a little bit and wincing at the strange pain at the back of his knees.

Would he be put in the same team as Gwyn? He didn’t really know Tenshi very well so he didn’t really care about being in a team with him. He did seem friendly enough though, and Tarou hoped that he could be the third person in their team. Besides, the guy had given him some advice! It was pretty nice of him actually, and maybe tarou was supposed to be focusing on the positive unlike the negatives. Yeah, that usually worked. He wasn’t even sure if the guy was giving him advice, but he decided to go with that conclusion.

Tarou could imagine all the little mischief they could get into. Although Gwyn was seemingly calm and Tenshi seemed like an angel, he was sure that with a bit of coaxing, they could become little devils. In the bad way, not the sexy way. He knew that the gennin had to do all kinds of tedious chores, such as collecting garbage and rescuing lost pets. They would sort fo be the volunteer help group for Kiri, and even though Tarou didn’t look quite so forward to that, at least he would’ve been going somewhere.

Tarou grinned almost wildly when he found that Tenshi’s advice had been actually really useful. He looked up to flash the guy a grin. “Hey thanks, it worked!” He said, then looked over to Gwyn and grinned at her too. Hopefully she could.. somehow… sense his grin, or something. Maybe if he grinned larger, a happier aura would be given off? He had no idea how that worked, so he decided to not dwell on that for a bit.

Having had enough of stretching for the push ups, he sat up on the ground, at a loss of what to do. He was at a complicated situation; he felt too lazy to do any more push ups, drunk with joy. He still felt himself feel like he needed to finish it, and that was probably as important too. Sighing inaudibly, he supposed he should get back to the push ups; he only had one to go, after all. Besides! Gwyn was close to catching up with him, and Tarou mentally cursed. HE would never let that girl catch up! He had started before she had even started on the hand seals; she was so fricking fast, that it was unfair.

Snapping out of his over jealous thoughts he looked back at the patch of ground, some of the grass messed up because of Tarou’s knees, hands, and face all making themselves comfy in that exact area. He couldn’t help but feel somewhat proud of himself, and he went down into position, trying it again.

He could almost /cry/ with joy. He was finally done! In truth, he had only done 10 push ups in the span of about an hour or so, but he conveniently decided to ignore those details and silently clapped in his head. For himself. Looking over at Gwyn he grinned. “Hey gwyn, I just finished. It took a really long time, but I’m finally finished!!” He exclaimed happily. Although Tarou was easily put into a fit of jealousy, he wasn’t the kind to rub something in their faces. He was usually too caught up in the moment to do so.

Now that he had done push ups, he was one step closer to getting his forehead protector!! He imagined all the fun things that the three would accomplish. They could chase cats into trees, litter everywhere, put a knife against the mark on their forehead protectors… He was really looking forward to this.

Andou kept a critical eye on his students as they trained, although it certainly didn't appear so from outside. It seemed that Tarou had gotten over his mental block as he finished his set of push-ups and the other students were also doing well in whatever they were doing.

"Doing good, Yubei. Keep it up. Fubuki, focus on the task at hand. Good job Miyazaki! I bet you feel those biceps and triceps of yours screaming. You're done for now, but if you like, you can do what Fubuki is doing. Chakra molding," Andou clarified, perhaps unhelpfully depending on Tarou's logic and reasoning skills.

He then noticed an older boy walking up to him, looking kind of pissed off. Andou had noticed his presence for a while, and had suspected his identity and purpose, but well... springwater was sweeter with a seventeen mile hike wasn't it?

"I am that Andou," he stated, moving into a more formal and clinical tone. "You're Team Natsumi, am I correct? Well..." Andou's gaze swept over behind Batsu, "part of it anyway."

[+4 to Gwyn and Tenshi's next roll]
I was gonna give Tarou help, but then I realised Andou's actions here are anything but helpful. Sorry >_>

Keon nodded to the man and apologized for interrupting his class. Keon looked down the hall see where he needed to go and followed the man's directions. "Okay down the hallway…to the right." Keon said thinking aloud to remember the directions, "This door." Keon opened and walked through the door.

He was in the training grounds and noticed the person named Andou speaking with someone who looked rather upset. Keon thought to be somewhat calm on his first day and promised himself he'd behave, at least try to. "Hello, I am Keon Kamori and I believe I am your student, at least that was what I was told." Keon stood there awaiting a response from the teacher.

Batsu simply nodded. He was in fact from Team Natsumi, but wass embarrassed that his team mates were so damn lagging. Masaraku was back at the hospital, possibly showing her boobs to the patients and Shinzu was back at the grove eating himself into obesity. It was quite upsetting, but Batsu had to stay somewhat professional since he was in the presence of someone higher ranked.

"Sorry sir, I am not one for procrastination... and I refuse to let others slow me down. Shinzu and I got the message at the grove and the messenger you sent is at the hospital retrieving Masaraku. They'll be here... " Batsu rolled his eyes before looking to his right in an annoyed manner. It was then that it could be detected how he felt. "... soon."

Masaraku arrived at the academy and began to walk quickly toward Batsu and the man he was speaking with. She stopped by them and said, "I saw the messenger bird when I got back from training. Where is the other guy at?" She couldn't get over the fact that she had barely had the time to lay in her new bed since she had gotten out of the hospital, but already the Hoshigaki and the village were tasking her, how typical, the village never changed at all.

Gwyn's senses were once again being over whelmed. A flood a new people had entered her field of sense in a very short amount of time. Normally she wouldn't have a hard time adjusting to these new people but after having relaxed and having her senses settle on just the three students such a wave of new information was giving her a slight headache. It seemed there was yet another student reporting to duty. Almost a bit late seeing as training was about to be postponed for lunch. Then again if he started out on handseals like she had done it would not be past the imagination to do a bit of reading as he ate. He would probably have better time with the book then she herself had. After the student came two older people. Not much older, but definitely more experienced. they seemed to be talking to Andou, no doubt about a mission or some such silliness. Gwyn thought it best not to worry to much about it and turned her attention back to her comrades.

It appeared Tarou had finished his push-ups. Gwyn was almost done, so it was good to hear she had caught up to him in what felt like no time at all. if she kept pushing herself the way she was there was no doubt that one day she would pass the Hoshigaki in power. Was it sinful to think that way? The Hoshigaki was supposed to be the most powerful person in all the land... No, it couldn't possibly be bad to think that one day she would overcome even that person, perhaps she would take that spot... But Gwyn felt she was destined for a greater life. For now it was all about doing training and missions. With Tarou by her side she knew greatness would be done, she had yet to see Tenshi's potential, but knew it was only a matter of time before his true powers also came in to fruition. That all started with this next push-up.

Gwyn had forget to stretch however and found the push-up to be increasingly difficult. She paused with her face inches from the ground and quickly dropped to her side cramping up. Her arms were in a lot of pain and not even Andou's words of wisdom could help her through this failure. Gwyn simply kept a clean look on her face as she stretched, this minor misstep would not stop her from her goals.

When Masaraku came up to him, Batsu didn't flinch at all. Like his team mate, he was clueless. All he knew was that he was summoned to the academy. The male continued to look at Andou and waited for some sort of explanation as to why he was here. In response to Masaraku's question, Batsu merely replied...

"... the grove."

Tenshi forgot that their sensei was watching their every move and noticed his lack of concentration. He felt ashamed and had to make up for the failure by trying harder at remaining focused and calm. "You are welcome Tarou," he replied with a small smile. He continued focusing on his task and dived into his pool of chakra and tried molding it in his hands. He knew it was rather pointless, but he still wanted to try. Due to his chakra being out of control at such a young age, the gauntlets suppressed most of it and allowed a small amount to remain on his hands. He gave a bigger smile as he successfully did another molding of chakra. "Four down..."

Gwyn closed her eyes taking deep breaths in and out. She was so close to the end that she could taste it, yet was far enough away that she didn't have time to be distracted by outside forces. She wanted so dearly to finish, so much so that her mind was consumed by nothing but that want of crossing the finish line, to prove to Tarou and Tenshi that she was not as week as she was showing right now. Not that they though she was week, on one occation Tarou had mentioned how he envied her speed in her earlier stages. So why wasn't she being fast now, she felt like hours had passed between the point she was at now and the point where she had compleated her first push-up.

Gwyn closed all those thoughts out of her mind as she got ready to do another push-up. She had been sure to stretch this time so that holding her body up in the plank like position didn't cramp up her arms and cause her to fail for silly reasons. There was no way that she wouldn't do this one. She was so confident about her success that she was almost willing to do it one handed... Yes that was a good way to prove her strength, doing a one handed push up was not an easy feat, and compleating it would surely be quite astonishing... But if she failed she would look like a fool. Was it worth the risk of looking like an idiot if the reward was so so sweet? Gwyn weighed it over in her mind before deciding whether or not to go down.

Unfortunitly Gwyn never got the chance to decide. Before long her arms began cramping again, she had waited to long, and was now paying the toll. Gwyn attempted to lower her body by her arms refused to budge, they were locked in place holding her weight and a pain was growing in her joints. Gwyn dropped herself on the ground tears beggining to ball up in her eyes. She attmepted to keep a calm face and hoped no one would see the tears. How could she be failing, she was so sure of her strength, how could something as stupid as her arms locking stop her? Why was she such a damned failure, any other person would have finished this silly task by now yet here she lay a ball of useless garbage.

Gwyn cursed herself over and over in her head, but let nothing show on her face. Even the tears had stopped in their tracks, as if not daring to betray her will. Anger was swelling up inside the girl as she clenched and released her fists. How could it be that she was being stopped so easily. She had gotten through her first 6 as if they were butter and she was a hot knife, but she couldn't do these last two to save her life. What was causing her to fail. Gwyn though hard about what she had done differantly from the first few, the only things that had changed were her breathing and the fact people were now swarming her field of sense... Perhaps that was what it was. The mass of people? People had always held her back before, why should it be so different now.

Gwyn decided she would work on her first issue first. She would change her breathing to suit the exercise. It had worked before when Tenshi had brought it to her attention perhaps it would work now. She focused on her lungs, heavy it seemed with cold air. They expanded and contracted with a steady rythem, being gripped by the cold mist. She noticed her breath had gotten much heavier compaired to when she had started the exercise. When she began she was lithe and could breath with no issue, but now she could hardly speak while working. Not that Gwyn was much of a talker but she was a little peved that the option was closed to her. Finally keying in on her breathing tempo Gwyn once more raised herself on her arms. She vowed not to wait as long as she had been before going down and dived right into the push-up without thinking about anything else.

Gwyns face met the ground with little resistance. She went from up to down in less then half a second. Dirst filled her mouth and the taste of nature overwhelmed her system. Slowly she began to clench her fists, anger filling up her mind. How could she fail so many times in a row? She was discrace to the Yubie clan, a worthless ninja. How could she even think about such foolish ideas as power to match the lords when she couldn't even do ten push -ups? What a stupid girl. Gwyn spat out the dirt and released the ground being clenched in her hands. She wished all these people would leave. It was their fault she was failing, she had been doing fine until they had arived. Who were they to think they could just walk around disrupting her training? She wished they would all just leave.

Gwyn now filled with rage thought about nothing. She simply driffted in a world of dark silence, blocking out all other outside forces. There was nothing but the cloth against her skin, mist on her face, and grass below her. There was no Tarou, no Tenshi, no distractions. That's all people were right now. Obsticals that needed to be removed. All Gwyn needed right now was to finish, she didn't care about anything else. Life was secondary to this training, and she didn't care if she pushed herself to death so long as she finished. Gwyn didn't know why this was so frustrating, normally when training wasn't going her way she would just take a deep breath and stop caring, but for some reason doing it in front of other cause her to hate herself for every time she failed. Soon she would have to practice alone for practicing under such self-destructive ideals was not health for a child.

Gwyn lay there floating in space for some time, eyes closed, breath heavy. Her heart was beating faster then ever before and she needed to calm down. So she lay there for what seemed like forever breathing in and out to calm herself. Clearing her mind so all anger disperced into nothing. When she had finally calmed her entire body Gwyn decided to give the push-ups another try. She had to go in to the exersice with the mind set that fail or not it didn't matter, all that mattered was the effort given. Gwyn didn't have time to worry about other perceptions of her, she had to craft perception with her own hands, and anything other then things proven didn't matter.

Gwyn raised herself on to her arms but quickly fell in to the mud. She lay there not moving, not caring about anything. But she lay there, she had given up for the time being, there was no use doing this if it wouldn't progress herself any farther. And to think the row of failures ment anything else was naive. So she lay in the mud eyes closed giving up. What was the point? If she hadn't done one by now what was the point in even continueing to try even another time. There was no motivation. There was no purpose to training.

Gwyn lay there for a while before weakly getting herself on her arms. She barely got the chance to even attempt a push-up before she fell once more to the ground. She was to weak to even hold her own body up right now, she wondered where all of her energy had vanished to but at the same time she didn't care, all she wanted to do right now was sleep. Sleep until she regained the strength to try again. She quickly and without any trial she drifted into sleep, regaining her energy.

Gwyn dreamed of her home in Iwa, before her and her family had moved to Kiri. She dreamed of her parents teaching her to walk and to talk and overcome her curse. Of a life long forgotten in the cold unforgiving mist of Kiri. For a while Gwyn had been happy with her life. Truly happy, not the feign happy that she had in Kiri. She used to live without a trouble in the world, but as she grew she became hateful. So many times she had been on the recieving end of a prank that she had grow cold. So many times had she wished she was dead so she would no longer have to deal with such people, and so many times had she wished for the strength to kill them so that other would not have to deal with the likes of them. Neither of those wished had been granted but she was slowly working her way to the later.

As Gwyn slept she rarely moved. If one had been looking at her for even a distance of ten feet she would have apeared dead. But she was quite alive, and quite calm. So Gwyn simply rest at peace, though she knew even in rest that as soon as she woke up she would be furious with herself.

Gwyn Curled up into a ball thinking of her past and her future. Even deep in sleep she could not avoid these thoughts. They haunted her like a nightmare, keeping her awake even in sleep. Her parents sometimes joked about why Yubies eyes were the way they were. They said Yubies had black eyes because even in sleep thoughts kept them up so their eyes were always buisy. As to if Gwyn believed that was doubtful, but in her time of sleep now she gave it a small ponder. Perhaps it was possible. Beh that was just the sleep getting to her. In a state of dream and relaxation the brain was most vulnerably to the attacks of stupid notions and other such nonsensical gibber-gabber. A Yubies eyes were the way they were because of their Keki Genkie, nothing more nothing less, and to think otherwise was lofty and foolish.

Gwyn didn't notice how hard she had been pushing her body until now. But as she lay their in her half and half state she noticed how sore her muscles were and how much her hands hurt. She didn't even think of the physical toll she had been putting herself under, she had been to concentrated on getting done that she had pushed aside her own well being in order to speed progress. In hindsight it was a stupid way to train. To maintain a balance was what should have been achieved. But at least through her failures she was learning about herself, and to achieve such a level of thinking made the young girl feel very mature.
