"No," he admitted shuffling his feet. "But she will once she hears my Ode to her Tail." Giving a happy grin to Jae who confirmed what he wanted to hear and then shaking his head. "Nobody's gonna worry. They got enough to worry about with keeping their nipples clean and fightin' over men." He glared at Desdemona and hid behind Jae. "I won't go and you can't make me!" Looking at her quite disgusted. "I'm not a baby! And Lady Gem said I coulda stayed with her."

He watched Des slink off and then Savvy more or less lose it. He hadn't forgotten who he was dealing with but he was testing her. She reacted much the way he thought she would. Kelligrin shrugged. "Your call, Vryn. You look a little flustered though. Might want to sit down for a minute or two." Chuckling and uncurling his body before he left her.

"The young do not always wish for guidance. Perhaps he wants more than that." Shaking her head and crossing her arms then watching Lycear very closely. "It is not a parent's pride speaking but experience. You are correct that he does. He can handle the responsibility without fear. But greatness is created through strengths and weaknesses. Kaznec's inability to look beyond the logic will not win him favor."

Des marched right over and picked him up by his collar and held him up at eye level.

"Is that so? how do you plan on being able to stop me from taking you right back to Brishana? Where we're going is no place for a young dragon. Especially one like you. And if Captain Nereem said you could, then see if you can go find her ship. this is not her ship, and this ship's captain doesn't want children on board that won't work and can't pull thier own weight."

Setting his feet down on a table.

"So unless you have some grand method of being able to stop me from taking you back home and locking you in a room if I have to, you are going to go back to Brishana before we leave, where you will stay out of harm's way."

It seemed that the idea of staking claim in this particular context was still being misunderstood by him but at least Jae was there to clear a few things up. More specifically: the little dragon had touched without permission. That was enough for him. No moving for him though as it seemed Jae's tail had found a spot around his ankle again and he looked to her then back to Cyvalor, blinking for a moment at the n****e comment. There was something very odd about this dragonling. "Desdemona is right. This isn't Captain Neerem's ship and if this ship's captain doesn't want you here then you're trespassing and the consequences for that aren't pleasant." Shaking his head though, he turned his attention to Des. "No need to get aggressive. He's been harmless so far and deserves a fair warning." Aside from the little touching comments... but speaking of that. "Jae, do you know where he's from?"

Ode to her tail...said tail tightened on Kaz's ankle a bit more. That little guy was fixated wasn't he? Though she supposed it was kinda cute. But there was that pervy side of his showing through again and he was still unashamed as ever. Blinking though as Des got rather...violent with the child, which got a frown, but Kaznec saw to that and placed his own logical reprimand. She was surprised he didn't tell the dragonling to watch his language as well. "I think he lives in one of the brothel's here. And apparently Des knows exactly who."

Savvy listened to his heavy bootsteps depart before she dropped her hands and felt the familiar weight of one falcon on her shoulder. Stupid elf. Giving an angry look she turned her attention away from where he had walked off and made her way to where her and Shyrae has set up their things. Plopping into the hammock she grabbed a board, some paper, ruler and ink set from her things. She had a letter to write and then she was going to take her reverie guarded by serveral dead things.

"If I tell him what to do, he may think he cannot think of such things himself. Ever since Laricalu and that battle...understandably what happened to him there as well has weighed heavily on him and he doesn't trust himself as much as he perhaps needs to. I do not wish to be a crutch to him, only to have him stumble when I cannot be around." Sighing lightly, "Which is why Jaebelltiah stays an apprentice. By duty she is on his level of command and consult. I hoped that he'd feed off of what she offered to him in her opposition against Koto." Oh he was quite aware of the situation with Koto.

He was highly upset when he was picked up but instead of kicking out, he just kind of hung there, arms crossed. It didn't make much sense to him why Desdemona was being so mean to him but he could definitely tell that he wasn't wanted. "I didn't do nothin' wrong." Squirming as he was put down and then climbing off the table and running off. "Fine!" called back over his shoulder before he was off the ship and down the gangplank. They didn't want him then he wouldn't stay.

"Blocking his emotions to keep from feeling his pain. It is neither wise nor foolish." There was too much at stake here to let Kaznec continue on the path he currently was. If she could confide such things to Lycear, perhaps she would but she could not. "Hopes mean little when no action is present. Dragonlord means to not approach the subject of marking again?"
PostPosted: Fri May 16, 2008 6:32 pm

No, he didn't really understand what the little dragon was doing here in the first place but there were other things on his mind right now. Bigger, more important things. If Cyvalor proved to be a threat or even a hindrance, then he'd deal with it later. For now, it seemed like Des' actions had done the trick and told him off. Whether it was to Gem or back home was anyone's guess. The brothel thing was interesting though... seeing as he didn't know exactly what such places entailed. Never been in one, never needed to be. Even in Ilindal, he had learned that such places ran on their own set of rules. He just kept to himself as usual. Turning back to Jae then, he glanced down at her tail and then back up at her face. "If he offends you again, I can deal with it. Right now though, we should probably get some rest. Is there anything I can do for you?"

Jae frowned. "Oh Desdemona, you upset him. He's only a little dragonling. Why would you be so mean to him?" Shaking her head lightly and giving a sigh…her attention turned back to Kaznec though and she gave a nod. “I’ll remember that…though I think he’s harmless. Just, doesn’t know personal boundaries.” Lightly touching a hand to his forearm. “Rest sounds wonderful just…stay with me?” She knew he got up sometimes during the nights and wandered. Siphoning off him for comfort…but in all reality he probably could use the company comfort as well through the night. They both had thoughts better left alone in their heads. Snuggling always solved that…or at least for her. Thusly giving a tug on him.

"I know, but he's struggling right now....if he looses the memory of his mother compeltely, I don't know what he'll do." His mind could only make this worse and worse as the Laerethe continued on. Yes sometimes he did think he had gone wrong with his son. "When he comes back home. I told him what was important about it for now." And his son seemed to realize that it wasn't 'all a good thing to do again'...yet at the same time he worried about what had already been put in motion. When that scent based bonding started to fade...would he begin to long for that like he did for his mother? One pain was too much for his son, Lycear hardly wanted another on him.

"He will not let it go, dragonlord. Do not fear for your son. He has demons, true, but all do." Eilynne watched Lycear for a long moment and recognized his worry and his own silent rebuke at playing with things he obviously felt were better left alone. He didn't understand all like she did though and that was why she felt better at excusing him from his current state of mind. "Bide your time. Things will happen and things will not. All will be well, you have my word." Making a sign in the air that shimmered in gold and then disappearing.

A light frown. "Professional boundaries either. I hope Captain Gem plans to deal with him in due time. He seems to have a connection to her but I wouldn't advise bringing him along when we leave port." And she was right; he did get up during the night sometimes. Partly because of habit and partly just because he couldn't get out of the cautious mindset as they were in unfamiliar territory now. Letting her tug him out to find their claimed corner though, he sat down by the wall and let her settle down next to him as usual. "I'll stay with you." Nodding in reassurance as he folded hands in his lap and gazed down at her for the moment. Wasn't sure how well he would sleep tonight but he would try and he could keep her comfortable in the process too.

"I do what I must. Brishana would be worried sick about him, wether she'd admit it or not. maybe when he's older, we'll take him on board but not as young as he is. he can't do the work, and Deacon would throw him off for it. if he can get with Gem, then that's another story. But I doubt she'd even indulge him that much."

Richards was still waiting on the dock by the Claw, hoping Thobias would have shown himself. but seeing as how that wasn't happening, he'd have to make the call.

"Thobias! Permission to come aboard?"

((And switch))

Jae was curled tightly into him, her tail wrapped around his ankle and her head tucked under his chin, naturally and comfortably tilted back some of course to accomodate for horns so his chin rested inbetween and just before them. Her mind was at ease, comforted by his scent invading her senses all night long and into the morning, making the worries of her mind settle at least for a few hours, as well as all the new knowledge that she had learned...and promptly stuffed in a corner so as not to face it just yet. A twitch of wings and a nuzzle at his throat spoke of her internal clock going off though. Whether she was going to look forward to the day or not was debateable....subjects were bound to come up.

Savvy had been up to the deck and promptly come back down to sit in her hammock with a guard thing or two, letting Chylithair go hunt. She didn't like the feeling to the air...felt like there was going to be rain or winds were going to be up at the very least. She very much hated weather...feeling around till she found her bag she pulled it over and pulled out a wrapped package of travel food.

Gem was up with the sun and already had a muffin in hand as well as a cup of coffee in the other. Standing between the ears of her figurehead, she peered out over the atoll, watching how it had never really gone to bed, just switched shifts. Handing off her coffee to a passing deck hand, she grabbed her map from her belt and flipped it open. Hm...if they were here...then how far behind would Fang be and how soon could she get out of here. Get her new crew members had just become first priority. A blink though at early morning screaming. "What are you screaming for my first mate for?! It's bloody early you know!"

((I make it work.))

As predicted, he didn't sleep much himself. It was the usual occasional dozing off only to be awaken again by racing thoughts though this time they were invaded by the image of the painting on that black scale. But without any sense of time in the darkness and with Jae sleeping soundly against him to remind him of his promise to stay, he didn't move. He could hear the sounds of pirates stirring and starting their work above deck but for the moment, he kept his eyes closed to shut out any distractions though that didn't do much for the internal ones. Even as Jae shifted slightly, he merely stayed where he was, with one hand on the pouch at his belt where the scale was safely tucked and the other across her lower back protectively. There had been a slight breeze during the night and they had been effectively sitting on the blanket, but he decided that his natural body heat was better than nothing.

Giving a yawn, her eyes fluttered open and she lay still a moment before she pushed away from him gently as if realizing she was probably a tad too close for his comfort...though she couldn't go too far seeing as her tail had hold of him still and his arm was around her. That was new. But looking to his face she gave a blink and then frowned. "Something unpleasing on your mind?" She could take a few guesses, but it was hard to get him to talk unless he was triggered. Like back at the temple...but she just didn't know what triggered him to let go that particular time.

There was a down side to this staying below plan...she had to stay on this stupid boat and the crew weren't looking too hurried to leave anytime soon. So sick of this boat. But with the possibility of rain she really really really did not want to be anywhere where it was going to come into direct contact with her, or somewhere that it was going to be worse from echocing and splashing and such. Finishing up her food she pulled out her rob and pulled it on over the rest of her, flipping the hood up. Pulling a book from her bag next she resolved to distract herself, running her fingers over the raised markings on the page. She'd let people have breakfast before she'd torment them with shard knowledge...people were just pissy when they hadn't eaten.

He wasn't going to wake her unless the moment called for it and seeing how they were still anchored down, it was still alright to rest. All the activity was in his mind anyways. But apparently she was coming to and he watched as she pulled away to look at him. "Not unpleasing. There's just a lot to think about." Tilting his head slightly and then moving a hand to brush out her hair that was mussed from sleep. "Did you sleep well?"

Hunter was on deck this morning, sorting out the buisness at hand, and making all appearances that he was entirely unconcerned with Richard's apparent absence, Desdemona taking up the slack of keeping men in line. While he drank from a bottle, and kept careful attention on progress, whil walking his ship from rudder to prow, checking her condition.

Richards smirked lightly.

"not too early for me and mine. I have buisness to discuss with your first mate, about something we talked about yesterday. It's important."

Desdemona was handling the men alright, slipping into her old role like a worn and well oiled glove. people coming and going on deck, bringing supplies, repair materials. and of course, the ever valuable information from informants and the like.
