I enjoyed the books, admittedly most of the cast are jerks. I see that as more of the still growing up stage of life. Part of it is just also to be the humor of the book, such as how unconsidered Scott tends to be. But I think it boils down to immaturity and lack of responsibility on most of the cast.
It's not for every one, but I still enjoy it; my older brother however doesn't enjoy it as much bust still reads it. Hell, He read vol one some time ago, didn't like it, but then wanted to read it again when iFanboy.com made Vol 5 there book of the month. rolleyes But while we are on the topic of unlikeable character, Scott may be a Jerk, but he not nearly as bad as the guy in 'Scorsese's Apprentice'. To quote Spill.com "that dude is the biggest Dork, that ever Dorked, in all of Dorktum". Truly the film might have been better with out that guy, he was such a whiny wimp and he is the guy you are suppose to relate to. I would say he is the second worst main character, next to that guy from the movie 'Jumpers'

Also, I think you meant "Sorcerer's", not "Scorsese's"; I have a feeling the latter would be a vastly different movie. xd

It looked like it was going to be a stinker just from the trailers, so I'm not surprised smile

Hartley Rathaway Yeah, I'm looking forward to the movie. What the book fails to hook me on (and I can see why other people espouse it as such a great read) is that, basically....all of the characters are assholes. Scott is the main character but he's a jerk, and worse he's a really DUMB jerk. He's not even remotely self-aware of what a huge jerk he is. Ramona's a jerk, Scott's a jerk, most of the cast are just jerks. Scott's gay roommate is affable, and Knives is pitiable, but otherwise they just strike me so much as the sort of early 20's-self-centered-entitled jerks that I avoid. I like the idea of a world where video game rules are actually THE rules, I really like the art style, and the overall concept is a fun one. But the story just doesn't do a lot for me personally. I've read every volume and finished going "huh. Well, okay then." Maybe Scott's the poster child for the generation below me where if you're just YOU long enough, you special little snowflake, everything you want will come your way with no other effort. It's true. The most relatable line in the series for me is, "Scott, if your life had a face, I'd kick it in the balls." It's a super-charmed life, but it failed to charm me. I found myself aggravated by minor details like, if Scott's roommate has a job, why can't he afford a shitty studio apartment... in the basement of a house? I was even more aggravated by the, "OMG! YOU SMOKE!?!?!?!?!?!?!" and the like. I like Knives. I agree with you about the concept, and maybe that's why it's so frustrating. It's a great concept being wasted in favor of a bad Degrassi story arc. The end of Vol. 5 made it clear to me that this will work much better as a movie. It's lazy, and it makes me resent it for having to read the lazy words. Just show me the pictures and have it talk at me.

Eh, to each his own. I just hope Scott Pilgrim doesn't become the subject of debate on it's popularity, much in the same way the popularity of Twilight, Harry Potter, and James Cameron's Avatar are. I have a feeling it won't be, and likely will never be, but you never know.

I agree that most of the cast of Scott Pilgrim are jerks, but I don't really see that as some kind of negative thing. It certainly doesn't annoy me, I actually like it. I don't see them as being part of the mythical "me generation", or being a representation of immaturity and lack of responsibility. Mostly I see people - people who in some ways are very much like myself and my friends.
Post college, lack of goals, group of friends who rotate in and out of annoying to endearing with odd histories to each others beds? Yeah, honestly, I see a lot of my daily life in a series that pumps its self up to be so ridiculous. I know a Scott, he's just a she. I know a Julie and a Kim - I've got a friggin' Knives in my regular social group under similar friggin' circumstances. I know that with my friends, if annoyed enough for whatever reason, someone will tell someone else to their face they are a unimaginable b***h; then hang out a few days later. I think a good deal of maturity is enduring the faults of those around you, not simply rejecting the characteristics of people because they're not fitting towards your ideal friendship/relationship. If anything, Scott Pilgrim is a representation of that-them-kids favor of quick references, fast editing, and shiny lights and flares in their film, TV, and music videos.
In contrast to what-does-not-look-like-a-similar-series-but-is; Pilgrim is kind of the opposite approach to what Ross Campbell does in Wet Moon. In the first book of Moon most of the cast is instantly dislike able. Slowly, book by book, through character's blogs, diaries, and interactions, everyone comes into view and everyone is still a jerk but the detailed insight (and remaining mysteries) into their idiosyncrasies makes them too complete to simply ride off as "jerk" or "non-jerk", much like real people. O'Malley gives a bit of background information on his cast, they're just not nearly as detailed and deeply revealing as within Moon.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra has been greenlit.Quote: The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern “Avatar” world, Republic City – a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large. I believe the proper phrase here is "w00tness abounds".

Man I just realized I still haven't watched the final season. *face Palm*
I just read the final vol of Scott Pilgrim. Once I started, I could hardly put it down. I found the end you be very well written enjoyable. I think I may reread it again in a few days after I let it digest for a bit.

So according to Wiki, there was a Highlander: The Series reunion special made back in 2008. It stars Methos, Amanda, and Joe, and filmed at one of the creators' beach houses. They basically sit and talk about Methos getting married to a mortal woman for 17 minutes. Timeline-wise, it takes place 10 years after the series and between the 4th and 5th movies.
It's odd watching. Has anyone else seen this?

Limbo is awesome, but I have no idea how I will ever make it through with less than 5 deaths.
...Razzafrazza last achievement.
