The Acolyte heard the release of the fireball and ducked behind some passengers.

Joe sighed and dissipated the fireball before it struck the wall, recycling the energy. "Tell me what you want with me," Joe said, advancing again as he flashed flares in a strobe pattern.

((I take it Paul's message never got to the Sages? Does that mean an Acolyte is going to interfere with his assignment too?
And make PAUL MOVE
or Fyrin would work too))

((This is about to be unstickied...
((Paul and Marco can arrive wherever when you're ready.
Bayer, Fyrin's either going to have to keep trying and fight escalating forces or abort; good luck.))
Fyrin discovered, the vents had indeed been locked down, if somewhat flimsily, with grates.
((As for why it's unstickying - we're entering endgame soon and moving on to Cabal's sequel, Twenty-Seven.
Watch out for the following arcs: The Lucifex Bomb Arc The Battle for Beijing Arc

And... what? We're starting a new thread? A sequel? Will we be picking up right where we left off?))

((Basically, Cabal is leading to SOMETHING EPIC.
I want to tie up Cabal's loose ends and let you participate in the epic climax of the pre-27 segment of this plotline, but I think 27 would be better as its own thread.
Basically, in 27 I'm going to open up every Council faction for players, with as few exceptions as possible - The Hive and Maskers, namely, will be NPC-only.
Also! In case a particular plotline or point hasn't been resolved and might not be on the list of things I'm addressing before 27, PM it to me and I'll be sure to cover it.))
((Edit: OH RIGHT CONTENT))
The Acolyte yelled "Stop that!" and forced a baseline human into a standing position. She was yelling something about not wanting her child hurt. The nozzle was against her head.

((Hmm. Perhaps Paul will show up once we hit Twenty-Seven.
Fyrin, in the meanwhile, has nothing more to do than to keep fighting. Although I wish you would make some unnecessarily easy and obvious escape method for his infantrymen. biggrin ))
The grates didn't matter. A low-power, carefully controlled detonation would knock them out, although it wasn't quiet. Because of this, he decided that if there were ever any branches, he'd split up his forces and have them detonate everywhere so he could hopefully get lost amidst the destruction.

((Exceedingly epic, my friend. I can hardly wait. Bayer, I think we could do something awesome with Paul and Marco. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you my idea, and we can work on it. And I would just like to say, in front of everyone, that I have first dibs on the Clockwork Knights. I will kill anyone that disagrees. Thank you.))
Joe stopped flashing. "Release her, and tell me what's going on here," he said slowly, lowering his arms. He had two plans in his head, so if the Acolyte didn't comply, Joe figured he would just kill him.
((Ohhhh, I can't wait! Are those two other arcs the ones you were telling me about, Venom? That would "rawk mah worldz" or something like that?))

((Lucifex Bomb is for the Cabal. Battle for Beijing is for you guys.
Also, these arcs WILL rawk your wharldz.))
The Acolyte began to advance, placing the nozzle against the hostage's spinal cord. "Do not move."

((Who's still in the Cabal?))
Joe rolled his eyes. "I'm not moving, tard. You must be a rookie." As the Acolyte advanced, Joe began to ever so subtly shift his mana around. Wind? He got a wordless response of acknowledgement. Would you like to play a game? It agreed enthusiastically. We're going to play Keep-Away, OK? The object is to keep all the Air away from that man. Joe let Wind focus on the Acolyte. If he gets any air, you lose. And you don't want to lose, right? It vigorously denied it. Good. Then get ready. Go when I say so. It nodded happily and "skipped" about the cabin, waiting to begin. It was, thus far, undetectable.

((And to answer, Takeshi and Agnese are the remaining active ones. You can take over Erik for the Lucifex Arc if you want?))

"Battery?" Joe drew a blank for a second, then started. "Ohhh, the battery! I don't actually know the people, that's why I was hired for the job. In case something like this happened. "And why does a Sage want to know? I didn't know the Sages were in bed with the Tyrg. That could have some pretty major repercussions, if it got out." Joe said this last bit suggestively.
