"You're even going that far? But my bedroom is where I relax...not wriggle myself into probably lacy silky things, which require effort to figure out." Pouting still but yet going along with it and she couldn't help but laugh at the news. "Ha! What? You expect him to actually go civilian? Oh man, I'd pay to see what Rennell comes up with for that one."

Bags in hand however she took a look at her nails. Jessica really indulged in such things despite how she, like Jelana, constantly had her hands in things that made nail care quite pointless? And she considered her hair too short to do anything with but maybe push back with a headband from time to time. "Just for a treat rather than the logical reason behidn it?"

Yes he had been let in on Jessica's shopping plans and quite encouraged to get James to go for the same thing. Which would probably be equally difficult as it was to convince the whiny Jelena. Looking across the table to James he smirked. "So, shopping. Bet those girls are going to go all crazy with it. You know how they get. All fancy and no pants and what not. You're really going to make her look bad, what with the military thing you have going on."

"At least we're not paying for any of this or I'd object more than I am now." Oh God she was getting pawned off. "Did I mention I have this thing about strangers touching me? I probably didn't..." But a look to the woman she had been handed off too. "Please don't torment me too much, I'm new to this kind of thing."

But of course as the story usually goes...fifteen minutes later she could care less about a lot of things.

He gave a casual shrug. "You're boring. And dress uniform makes you look like you're more important than everyone else around you. And again, casual uniform makes you boring. Even Jelena takes off her lab stuff and just goes casual from time to time. You look like you're on the job all the time. It's no wonder she still gets hit on all the time, you look like the bodyguard rather than the boyfriend." Play a bit of angle there.

Another light shrug as if this was so normal that it had become nothing to note. Which while yes he was exaggerating a bit, it was also true. "Lots of different techs, usually the younger ones. I would say mostly happening when she goes to get coffee. You know, she's usually alone and less eccentric looking, more approachable. You know how pleasant she is with a cup of coffee in hand."

But at least he had his attention. "Dress down to civilian. You don't have to be all frumpy like half of us but you could at least put on some jeans or cargos with one of those t-shirts that you mentioned. Maybe a nice button up. I don't prescribe to sleeves myself, but that's me and I have to have everything special order anyway. But you, you can walk into any of the places on Radiance. If people can pick you out as military, you're always going to be the bodyguard."

"More in line with or just as casual as most others. And I didn't say hide you were military because that would offend you and make you angry with me. I said tone it down. Then you're that guy who's hanging all close to Jelana must be someone she's involved with, not the bodyguard. What could it hurt, right?"

And some time later, there she was. Looking all quite relaxed and less confrontational in general. "You know what...I'm going to have to do that again. That was fantastic." Of course nails done and hair actually having some polished style rather than just the quick brush flip thing she did, and a little make up, went a long way for her. "Okay I'm more compliant now. What's next?"

"I think I like option B. It gives me time to throw up, have a cup of coffee, than change my mind a few times before you just shove me somewhere in strappy shoes and no pants without a choice in the matter. I commit without feelings like I'm commmitting to something uncomfortable. You think me knowing that would foil the plan, but I'll forget in a bit."

"Great. Besides you'll see that people won't bother you as much either with 'oh it's a military guy! help me out!'. Lot more free time." Thusly it was to some places with them and since it was a lot less complicated than shopping on a woman's level, it went faster. Soon James had a few piles in his arms. "Just go try a few on, get a look at them." Meanwhile a tap to the communicator on his wrist. "Ren to Jess, the bait has been taken."

"Um...have you ever been to my room? Probably not. I warn you now, it is a warzone." Heading there anyway and opening the door. "Let me go first and make a path for you." Because despite how many times James picked the place up, Jelena had to mess it up again later. So a few files, clothes, and books picked up later there was at least a path into the room. "Now I feel the urge to throw up...I've never liked taking pictures of myself."

He had to try not to laugh with glee. This really was just too much fun for him. It was like being all top secret and undercover and what not. It was exciting despite it being mundane. But he turned his attention back to a grumpy James. Which after a few sendbacks as he kept color coordinating into a military scheme of some sorts they were at least agreeing on things without the threat of Rennell being punched in the face. "See, this works. You still have some pockets to put all your fancy things in but it's relaxed, casual, and most importantly civilian. This is how us normal people dress."

"Oh don't try to cold logic me. It's still the same thing. A picture of me, thus myself, and I don't like those and thus the urge to throw up. Don't try to out science me." Setting her hands to her hips for a moment, "And yes yes it does drive him crazy. But it gives him something to do as well when I'm in the shower or sleeping or something."

But another surrendering sigh and a wave of nausea later she slipped into the bathroom to change her clothes, coming back out in black strappy shoes with a slight heel and in teh deep purple halter top style dress that was figure hugging up top and flowy from the waist to just above her knees. "This makes me think of high school all over again."

"No you don't. You look fine. Long as you're not looking military is the point here. You can still strap a gun to your ankle and what not all you want, long as it's not showing. Trust me, a woman loves a man in uniform but she also loves a rugged looking one, or one that's nicely crisp." Blinking then, "Geez...women really don't know what they want when you say it all out like that." But a shrug, "Look at it this way, how long have you two been together? You don't want to get boring. Spicing it all up a bit is fun."

"I hated my first date, and I got ditched for prom." Not that she really wanted to go anyway, but it was the prinicple of the matter that made a girl feel bad. But she played along, going through a few different styles and letting Jessica have her fun. "I see these anywhere and I shall hurt you, I hope you know that." But looking over them all just the same. "I still think I like the purple best. Gives me that girly overtone and makes my legs look great."

"It's not my fault you're both so very bland that I can only see your relationship as thus though. She's a workaholic coffee addict and you're mister high security paranoia. Like I said, boring." Rennell rolled his eyes and gave a pat to said arm where said cannon was stored. "Yeah well, let's try to not to resort to that unless we really really need to okay? Besides we got more things to do so keep frosty."
