He nodded lightly, crossing his arms behind his back under his wings and letting them rest in the small of his back above his tail. So the Learethe had decided to stir the pot on such issues? Possibly because they ran into riders and well...she would notice the similarities now wouldn't she? "Scale coloring, and I'm sure her smooth apperance as well. There are reasons for these things, and I can tell you both...maybe soothe some minds, and you probably both deserve to know."

"Muffins? What's that?" He knew biscuits but not muffins. He wasn't too sure what candied things were either. "Captain Nereem? Is she that nice lady cap'n who gave me cake? I'll bet she has some!"

He squeezed her thigh gently in agreement though he wasn't too sure she knew what that subtle signal meant. Of course his fingers released her immediately and he didn't try anything else so perhaps she understood. If not, he'd soon find out. Another bite of his soup and he glanced over Desdemona. "Don't be too sure."

He nodded, understanding completely. "Forgive me for taking advantage of the situation but that's what a pirate does. Never let it be said I am not one." Giving a nod and shaking his hand firmly. "Aye, we do. Now then, what's your plan for enticing Fang enough to keep him from ripping our skin from our bones with some of his voodoo?"

"Um...well they're kinda like mini cakes, but not as sweet and they have no icing." More playing with her food than eating it but maybe if she sat there and smelled it enough then she'd want to. "Yes the one with the red hair." Didn't know about the cake part, but Gem was the only female captain in port. "She always has muffins it seems. If you ask nicely you may get one."

What was that? Such gestures weren't forgein to her but they usually had a certain conotation. She was happy that his lacked that conotation with it's lack of lingering. "I treat my meat puppets just lovely thank you. Another one of your misconceptions of necromancers." Wrinkling her nose at that before eating a few bites. Kelligrin, man of few words. "If he had things well in hand, he wouldn't be rattled. Nerves are something that can cause a man to hesitate and in that moment of hesitation doom himself and others. I'm sure from that you can see my cause for concern."

"Nothing is certain on the sandsea. nothing but death at some point or another. But Hunter, even rattled, thinks on his feet and quickly. If things go bad, then they go bad. But I wouldn't give up on Hunter so quickly."

Glancing at the necromancer.

"Sorry for the misconception. but I imagine that if your puppets have any free will, it's not a pleasant experience to be ripped from one's afterlife and put in a rotting carcass. while you may treat them well, that has to be on what's left of their mind."

"The same way any pirate does. Parley. He's a pirate lord, bound by the code even moreso because of his station. If nothing else, it'll get us the opportunity to make our offer, and as long as we don't finish before we can get the hell off the Serpent, we should be golden. Or even better include that in the negotiations."

shaking his head lightly.

"I don't know what would possess a man to make a deal with that Captain. they could have me on the gallows and I still wouldn't make a deal with him to save my skin."

"Why eat 'em?" Cake was good because of the icing and being sweet. Chocolate and things like that were so much better. He finished off his stew in short order, watching Jaebelltiah for a long time. "You gotta eat... Worryin' don't look good on nobody nohow."

"Quick thinker? Good, he might just live." Yes, he was a man of few words because he'd much rather others come to their own conclusions and share them with him, just like Desdemona was doing right now. She was assuming the reason he'd made the comment. Well, she was wrong but that was just more amusing. "Only one way to know for sure."

"Yes, the dreaded Code." Taking another sip of his ale and leaning back in his chair. "You've got to remember that Fang is sneaky and he'll find any loophole possible to keep him from doing anything he doesn't want to. You'll need to work everything out beforehand and go in with eyes wide open." Quieting for a moment and then studying Richards. "Desperate men will give up everything if what they want is within reach. Jones makes them believe things."

"Some people like it that way." Shrugging lightly and watching as he more or less ate like every child ate when they weren't being rebellious about their food. Though a blink as he interrupted her thoughts which apparently she was "It doesn't hm? You're smart for someone your age, do you know what? Where'd you learn all this stuff?" Indulging the child but taking a bite of her own food...well it did taste good at least. "Do you want more?"

"You apologize for your misconceptions and then proceed to make more. You might want to still your tongue while you are ahead. You know nothing of what you speak or my practices with such creatures and methods." A bit of bite entering her voice as the dragoness proceeded down the very path that Savryn perhaps hated most. A few fools in the craft ruin it for those other practitioners such as herself and thus they had to deal with the slings and arrows of them. If Savryn had fur, it would of been bristling. Hunter paled to this matter for her personally.

Nodding, he fought down the urge to voice his questions all at once. If father had something important to divulge, he would do it soon enough. But suddenly aware of his surroundings again, he swallowed and moved towards the door, back outside into the empty hall. For some reason, it seemed wrong to stay in there. Usually he didn't stay for more than a few minutes, that was all the time it took for memories to get the better of him. Turning back to the older dragon though, he clasped his own hands. "Yes, her lack of spines. Very similar to the young dragon we saved from the Riders in a sense." And that was probably Jae's strongest frame of reference, wasn't it? "These reasons... You've kept them secret from both her and I for so long? Why?"

"I was not making more. I was explaining my misconception."

Desdemona crossed her arms lightly.

"Anything else you wish to complain about while I'm here?"

Richards shook his head lightly.

"Doesn't sound like the Hunter we know. I've never seen him willing to deal with anyone when he wasn't going to come out ahead on teh bargain. even in a figurative manner."

But a look over.

"How long you think you'll be in port, so I can arrange to get a little schooner or something that we can use?"

That was very strange indeed. He watched her for a moment like she was lying to him and shook his head then went back to his stew. "I had lots of experience with women."

He very much didn't like her tone. Glaring at her for Savvy's sake, he settled her a little more comfortably in his lap and finished off his own bowl. "I don't believe anyone was complaining about anything. You asked, we answered. You misconstrued, we corrected. Simple as that."

"The Hunter you think you know. He may have been playing games with you the whole time he's been captain." Pausing again and thinking it over. "Gem's been talking about leaving but she wants to supplement her crew. I think I can probably hold her off for a few more days without suspicion. Anymore than that and you might just be on your own."

He followed his son out, pulling the door closed and then continued on, speaking as he did so. "Not just you two...but you two would be the ones to gain or lose the most from it. It is this way because we, the city, had made a decision to give something a try and it backfired on us. Forgetting is not something we did, but we decided that it was a subject best left alone after what happened and thus let the consequences play out as they may. You know more than you think, about all of this. It just doesn't click in your head, or hers, or anyone else's who is young or wasn't involved. But...if you're going to be a leader to the city you should know so maybe you don't repeat the mistake or fix a flaw in the plan should you try it again. And Jaebelltiah deserves to know what makes her doubt herself."

She couldn't help but give a light laugh at his short sentence. It was so classic considering the speculation on where he came from and all the rather mature things he talked about in inmature fashion. "What kind of experience?" And yes not she was just amusing him.

"You explain your misconception with further misconception. Do tell, what do you even know of death save that one ceases to exist in union of body and soul? Not much I'd say." Yes she was defensive about it. This was her work, her life and she would not be made a monster for the actions of others. A little resistant shift to Kelligrin's shifting of herself but since her hands were full with a bowl or weighed down by a falcon she let him have his way. "You can speak all you want, but do not lump me with the horror stories you have heard."

He listened attentively, nodding along the way. Cryptic answers... that's all he was getting. Decision-based conclusions that had happened in the past that could hypothetically affect both him and Jae and the city in the future. It was all very confusing, really. "It sounds very important. Perhaps a valuable lesson that we could both learn from." Briefly, he wondered if he had indeed read about something like it in the past and as his father said, it just hadn't "clicked" yet. And yet, he still didn't understand how something on such a large-scale could be so closely connected with Jae and her newly discovered worries. "If the information you wish to impart could possibly be overheard and used against us in the future, it would be more wise to bring her here for this. What do you think, father?"

"I can get a boat in a day or so. then you and me and be underway, and hopefully come out of this with our skins intact and out from under the spectre of Jone and the Burning Prince."

He got himself up, giving and nod and headed out, looking for available ships that could be manned by two people at a price he considered reasonable.

Desdemona frowned a bit.

"I don't claim to know. but I dabble in no magic. that would be Brishanna that dabbles in such things. I prefer fang, claw, steel blades and bullets to do my dirty work. They've served me well so far. other then any natural resistances or the like, anyway."

"Well..." Lowering his voice slightly. "I've touched lots of girls," nodding to that. Then he glanced around. "And they all really liked it." Then grinning up at her. "Want me to touch you? I could make you feel really good."

Thobias watched him go and shook his head, then turned back to the girls dancing about. Next question, was he supposed to tell Gem or leave it alone? She'd probably want to know but if he didn't tell her, it wouldn't do anything at all. She let him have his freedom and do what he wanted within reason after all. He'd think on it a bit longer.

As far as he was concerned Desdemona didn't really care about Hunter and that was just fine with him. This conversation seemed to have died a long time ago though and resurrecting it wasn't really working either. They were bickering and that never led to good things in Savvy's case. "You speak as if you do. Remember what I said about assumptions?"
PostPosted: Thu May 08, 2008 8:18 pm

"Well...it's not really something that can be used, it's in the past. But if she's already reacting badly then I suppose one could use it to rip and tear at her confidence and the like. You're probably right...Sylin." Turning his eyes to the ball of light that popped up not a second later after it's given name was spoken. "Go speak to the Laerethe, we need Jaebelltiah here. And then we'll have the young ones returned to the ships to continue on their journey."

Sylin flitted a moment before it was gone and back to Rahsaveer. "Lycear has Need of the Apprentice Strategist in Illindal."

And it was back to the awkward little child that Cyvalor was. "Oh you have have you...I thought girls were icky at your age." Shaking her head lightly and offering him a smile. "Um...no thank you Cyvalor. You already touched earlier anyway, remember?" Her tail did.

Kelligrin pretty much had it right and thus took the words out of her mouth. But she really didn't have the energy to be angry or to waste it on petty matters of perception. It was really nothing that was new to her but it did rile her everytime. A dismissive wave of her hand before it was returned to her spoon and she fished out a piece of meat, offering it to Chylithair. "No sense in arguing it anymore. I'm sure we'll have better things to worry over in the coming days anyway what with legends on the horizon."

"I speak about it how I have been told about it. As your friend her states, there are some among her ilk that do things in the most vicious, and painful manners they can, and Dragons are not immune to it. Even we have our legends. the last story I heard of any kind of active necromantic person of any power was a story told to younger dragons we assume to mostly make them stay within the territory of their Clan. But they said that there was a dragon of muscle and bone, who's eyes glowed. it took little dragons away to serve the purpose of it's master, because until it's master was satisfied, it could not die. and thus, it begged for a death that would probably never come, by sacrificing others."

shrugging.

"But all legends have bits and pieces of truth hidden away in them. But we've got nothing else on the subject. My primary concerns now are Hunter, the Prince, and that gold tadpole that better be off the ship before the next sunrise."
