Layna could feel the snarl building in the back of her throat, but quickly pushed it away. She narrowed her eyes slightly, pulling back away from Ceon as far as possible so close to the walls of the building. "Stay away from her..." She whispered softly, her voice a soft growl of noise from between clenched teeth. She remembered what her tribe elders had spoke of. She had to protect what she knew was so easily damaged by malice and rage. The small noise was heard again, a tiny hand peeking out from near Layna's shoulder. Layna pressed a finger into the grasping hand, and a tight grip was applied to it, a heartbeat as soft and quick as a hummingbird's beating against her back.

Ceon was not happy with this one bit. Not aloud to touch his own daughter. "Layna..............please....let me see me daughter....I haven't seen your or Gabriel for a year...."

Layna stepped back farther, shivering, yet it was a balmy night. "No..." She whispered, her eyes wide, even...frightened, at the thought of Ceon touching, holding, looking at Maria. Gabriel was clearly on guard. He was not quite the same innocent child he had been, and though he was still a child, he was growing fast. Being within a large tribe with boys his own age had left him with a strong willpower, and lessons about protecting mothers. He stepped in front of his mother, and baby sister protectively, glaring up at the person who had hurt his mother deliberately.

Ceon stepped forward, chuckling at the fact that a five year old was trying to protect his family, "I can see you were taught well Gabriel," He then turned his attention back to Layna, "Layna....let me see.....the child......NOW. What would I do to my own daughter?"

Layna shook her head. "You...only...hurt...me..." She muttered. "You'll hurt my children. My children." She murmured, her fingertip brushing the small hand that grasped it. "Ceon...The reason I left...was because...was because of you. Because my heart couldn't bear anymore. I don't want that for my children."

"First of all, I gave you both children. They are OUR children. Layna........I need you in my life...I'm a mess without you.....and I can change......" Ceon's whole body shook as he begged Layna to come back.

Prometheus entered the city, looking totally different. Noone could tell who he was, but everyone stared at him in his mask and outfit. He walked through, not paying attention to the looks he got. He was across the street from two familiar lycans, obviously arguing. He stayed there and watched. he had a lot of free time on his hands. "Don't tell me you're going to go hero!" Gunter said in his mind. Shut up! I'm seeing if I can remember them...

Layna let out a soft whimper, and gently picked up the infant that was curled against the warmth of her back and sheltered by ebony hair. The little child looked up sleepily, her face screwed up in an annoyed expression at al the noises around her. Layna nuzzled the little girl close to her, and Gabriel looked up at his baby sister with a look of awe in his eyes at the thought such a small thing was his sibling. Layna smiled down softly at the sleepy-eyed child with golden eyes and dark hair. "Min lille barnet ..." She murmured, her nose rubbing lightly into Maria's hair. "Min lille barnet, jeg vil beskytte deg alltid." The tongue she spoke was Norwegian, soft and musical from her lips. It was her tribe elder's language, and she had relearned in her year there with them.

Ceon watched Layna sing a lullaby to Maria, and remembered how she would do the same thing with Gabriel. He held out his hands slowly, "Layna, please.......let me hold my daughter. I never hurt Gabriel, and I will never hurt her."

Layna was hesitant, her eyes if at all, a little scared. She felt wicked anger growing in her stomach at what had occurred one year ago, how Maria had been conceived, how terrified she had been. She could still feel the hands choking her, forcing her down. It scared her to let those same hands hold such a small thing. She slowly placed her in Ceon's arms, the grip on her finger tightening as Maria stared back at her mother with scared eyes at being held by a stranger.

Ceon smiled softly as he cradled his daughter in his arms. He stroked her black her as she looked up at him with scared eyes. "She has your hair and eyes. She's beautiful. What's her name?"

Layna curled her fingers lightly around her wrists lightly, questioning for a moment. "Maria." Layna said after her hesitation past. She was wary as he watched her silent daughter stare up at Ceon, blinking with a mildly indignant look in her eyes. Layna smiled. Maria showed her emotions clearly when she wanted to. "Maria....is four moths old." Layna said softly, crossing her arms, one arm gripped by Gabriel as he looked at his father with haughty eyes.

A tear rolled down his cheek as he looked up a Layna, "She reminds me so much of you. I'm just sorry for the way she was made. I can't apologize enough for that......"

Layna sighed softly. "What past is past...That's why I left." She muttered quietly, her eyes darting at the people as the passed them, some stopping briefly to look at the pair and the children before they noticed her gaze and continued on. "Let's move somewhere quieter. Maria hates loud places..." She said, her voice mild as she watched Maria begin to squirm, her face blanching at the squeak of tires and the loud horns as cars past by.

Ceon nodded and started to walk back to her old apartment. Though Ceon knew how she would react when she saw how crappy it had gotten when she left.
