Well your tea is hot water flavoured with dried crushed leaves, correct? Gion asked. What we call tea is quite different - in idea it is the same, but it is a sedative, made from the fimlas plant.

Yes generally these days that is what tea is used for back home but as a sedative... I do hope it isn't bad going down if you need it. The only time I've heard of tea being used for medicial reasons is willowbark but it's nasty stuff.
Daemon replied back he didn't like it.. he tried once.

Oh, no, it tastes absolutely delightful, Gion assured Daemon. It tastes exactly like a peppermint plant ...
He trailed off. Well then peppermint leaves would make a good non-sedative tea, wouldn't they?

I don't think I shall look at mint tea the same way again.
Daemon replied as if to echo Gion's thoughts, though he didn't know it.

Gion was surprised. You actually have peppermint tea? he asked curiously.
Looking back on it, he realized it was a silly question.

Oh yes.... though it is not a sedeative it's quite soothing and easier on the digestive system than other drinks or teas for that matter.
Daemon replied back happily. He would know.

Gion smiled. Well then, he replied, I'm going to have to find some and ask Ulani to make some for me when we get there, aren't I?
He chuckled inwardly.

There's a thought.
Daemon replied cheerfully.
Those times were fun back home, tea time.

Something like our family time, I would imagine, Gion nodded, smiling faintly.

Yes, exactly so, the four of us would have tea and whatever baked sweet together. Kara use to like to dress up for that, it was easier to get her into formal clothes than Kyoko... that was a bit.... well it was interesting when we had to.
Daemon chuckled remembering the few visits to the Mizu family house.

I take it she didn't like dressing up? Gion grinned, stopping for the night. He unslung his pack and stretched a bit, then sat down and took out some food.

She wasn't so fond of dresses or her robes for that matter, the first because the dresses she found too frilly and the latter because formal robes you can't really run around in them to be honest.
Daemon replied back with a chuckle.
So every time they were needed we spent half the time chasing her and trying to help them both, since Kara had been incapable of doing up her obi. She managed to tangle herself up in it in the most interesting ways.

Gion chuckled, wondering what Daeron and Earendil would be like if they had to dress themselves. Some of the formal clothing could be pretty confusing, even to Gion ...
He started eating.
What kind of formal occasions do you have in your land? he asked curiously. Or celebrations, or holidays?

My family.... well... my parents and sibling celebrate Christmas as gathering holiday of sorts.... Yume's family doesn't though, they celebrate the Lunar New Year, so we tend to do both. Though they're not really formal more celebratory, though traditionally people wear new clothes on the Lunar New Year.
Daemon explained.
Both Yume and Long's people celebrate it, though how they go about it varies slightly. For example, Long wears red and gold on this day, just an example. Anyhow those are our main celebration days.

Gion grinned.
Nice and simple, he nodded, taking a drink from his canteen. The sun was setting now, and it was growing colder, so he pulled his blanket and cloak from his pack and covered himself to keep warm.
We have only two celebrations, he told Daemon. Yestare, the New Year - and the Enderi, the middle days.
