A black-coated figure slumps on the edge of the fountain next to James, wincing as bits of metal in him scrape along its surface. His jacket is seared smooth in places, and held directly to his flesh in others. Bloodstains cover his shirt, pants and shoes, and dried blood mats his hair. Most of the flesh visible is cut and crusted with dried blood. To top it off, he smells like bile. Recent bile. Woozily, his head bobbing, he turns to regard Mr. Black. He squints for a moment before managing to force out some lucid speech:

Gareth: "...is this the end of the line?"

Ai Leen
She hung up the phone, and while still being carried by Lyendi, noticed Gareth. She called out to him. "Ano....rest please~! There are healers coming!"

He smiles at her, his eyes not exactly focused, before he leans back and relaxes.

Gareth: "...guess so."

Gamma exhaled and produced twin jets of smoke from his nostrils. Apparently she wanted him to have the crop and the orb. If there was any sort of marblevision still in him, he'd recognize it with a sense of familiarity.

Then Stryphe would stay there, and lit his cigarette. The question wasn't really simple; Gamma had met here days ago. Business, deals, riding crops.

"She wanted."

Complete sentence. What, exactly, was totally irrelevant. Gamma wanted money, he wanted violence; he wanted what he wanted.

He kicked a woman's head in for a marble. He put a chainsaw through a man's chest for a good time, and a marble. He crushed some shade's head like a fruit for several more.

Gamma got what he wanted. There was a case of significant value in his pack, and throughout the duration of getting it he had a hell of a time. And that was power; to get whatever he wanted no matter what anybody else did.

Giving a nod passed Stryphe, he gestured to where the portal just was.
"Somebody else just wanted more."

James wouldn't stop her.

He was too busy having flashbacks of trying to stop white magic women, and the trouble it always caused.

"Keep it cool," he said nonchalantly... as if he actually had a meaning behind it. It was just something to say that wasn't 'goodbye'.

Maybe he could bum a smoke off of Stryphe. Being wet was really starting to get old.

Gareth: "...is this the end of the line?"

"No..."

James stood up, slipping the wet black overcoat from his shoulders and slopping it over the edge of the fountain to hopefully dry a little in the sun.

"...this is the beginning."

He'd wave to Disa, quickly tuning in and out of what the large man was saying.

"She wanted." He'd said, offering no other explanation. The rest was simple, and it made the most basic sense that anything could. The reply the man gave offered Stryphe no insight into what had just taken place over the last couple days, but, oddly enough, the demon man was satisfied with the answer.

"Guess that really sums it all up, when ya think about it."

And now here they were, after all that had happened in a few short days. Who'd they'd been working for or why didn't matter now- they both understood.

"Name's Stryphe," He added after a breif silence, smoke billowing from his mouth on each syllable before he blew it all out the side of his mouth.

Now they were just two men sharing a smoke.

But where was James?!

Vahn turned his head to the side, catching the last thing Gamma had said.

More... I want more don't I? ....Yea..

He took a good look at the man, making sure to lock in his face. It was brief, and he was following behind Owle so he couldn't tarry.... but it was there.

Fate threw out the course on which the future would be shaped.

Vahn was going to make it a point to visit Iron Man.

As he settled himself, Gareth was finally allowing himself to drift off to sleep, that everpresent healer, when James responded. One wearily drooping eyelid flips up to regard the man before him.

Gareth: "Good...less waiting."

His eyelid settles its way downward to join its twin, shading his eyes from what light there was as he waits patiently for something to happen. Soon, his breathing becomes lighter, and his eyes slide shut all the way. A faint smile crosses his face as he descends into dreams and blissful sleep with one last thought:

Gareth: I'm not dead yet. Life is good...

Stryphe
Now they were just two men sharing a smoke.

But where was James?!

Behind him, trudging through the knee-deep fountain water more weary than anything else after that quick session with the human battery.

"Hey," James jabbed Stryphe in the shoulder. Smokes all around.

"HEY!" He also waved over Vahn.

Again... smokes all around. Everyone enjoyed a good smoke after collapsing a universal nexus into itself.

Still sitting Miles would look to Gamma. Seemed something important had happened; but Miles was less concerned about that and more concerned about the money.

Standing up he walked over, nodding his head slightly to the others before looking at the theatrical mask.

"The case still safe?"

And so they were. It's not something Gamma did a lot. Lifting the cigarette back to his mouth and exhaled a billowy cloud of smoke, just taking his time.

He'd scratch the birth-given tattoo under his right eye with the back of a thumbnail. None other than a simple black depiction of the Deity Inc. logo, which anybody that went near the Heaven of Hell tournament would recognize.

"They call me Gamma." It was the same Greek letter he carved into the side of the Fist of Power building a couple days ago.

They also called him insane and a murderer. But this was a formal occasion. Because in situations like this, Gamma typically started doing violent things to the other person on the basis that they did something he didn't like. Exceptions could be made.

After all, Stryphe could have just been considered already dead. Gamma had since collected the bounty promised for doing generally violent things to these people, so there wasn't anything to be gained.

All Gamma wanted was a cigarette, but he already got that from him.

He'd lower the blood-crusty chainsaw from his shoulder slowly and glance around. He'd parked around here somewhere.

Looking over at Miles, he gave a nod. Showing that the mask had been lifted over his head, and remained there.

"Yeah, it's not going anywhere."

That was that. Miles didn't completely trust Gamma to divide the money fairly; but then he wouldn't mind cutting out the Spartan in the deal. Either way it would need to be an issue resolved later. Now was just not the time.

"Good."

Thinking for a moment he pulled out a knife he had stolen off of Raven's corpse, that had been a brutal killing. The annoying holo projector started talking and he clapped his hand over the speaker grill, muffling the noise slightly.

"Wonder how much the talking knife would sell for."

He'd listen to them talk for almost two seconds before he'd give a nod and step away, not wanting to hear about the money he was missing out on. He'd obviously just delivered something of value to these men but, really, he didn't want any part of it.

He'd remember the name Gamma, though- one day there'd be payment for the free smoke and portal-service delivery. He thought this with a smirk, fishing his halberd up off the ground and shouldering it.

Gamma'd turn the other direction and just walk.

"Less than what we already have." Because suitcases always had a ton of value to them, even over extravagantly complicated knives. Smoking the thing down to the filter, Gamma reached up and flicked the cigarette as far as he could get it far a high arc. In the same hand Gamma's fingers were wrapped around the haft of the crop and the tiny orb was pressed in his palm.

He'd whip the crop through the air a few times before just dropping his arm back to his side.

Hopefully nobody'd see him climb into a nigh-demolished orange Tercel hatch back. s**t like that is devastating to a person's reputation.

Why was it that every time he'd get sucked through a portal or something, Athan would experience the roughest landing possible?

Out of the portal he shot, and after rebounding off the side of the fountain, Athan hit the ground and skid on his shoulder for a good fifteen feet or so, tearing up nice bits of his arm and hand. The mercurial greatsword sparked along the ground behind him as he dragged it along with.

Once he finally stopped, Athan was about to move to stand like he was alright, like nothing happened. But the moment he rolled over onto his knees a violent coughing fit ensued, followed by a large deposit of blood leaving his mouth and puddling on the ground.

A real pleasant sight for anyone that happened to be watching.

For once, it didn't look as if he was going to be getting up on his own power this time. Couldn't even give a victory cry or anything. Just gargle his own bodily fluids.

The chaotic sword (Read: Still in TOTAL OVERCOMPENSATION mode) shot out a little bit later like a lance, embedding itself in a nearby building and scaring the piss out of anybody standing near it.

Stryphe caught sight of the struggling Athan, just before the man's sword came shooting out of the portal and embdedded itself into a nearby building.

"Wow," He remarked, stepping over to Athan, "someone got roughed up."

It didn't really seem like there was anyone around to help the guy out, as far as Stryphe knew. He spit his cigarette out after taking one last drag and knelt down. The man was large, but Stryphe would be able to carry him pretty easily. It was too bad Disa wasn't still around.

"Think you can walk if I give you a hand?" He asked, voicing the question with a very straightforward attitude and mild interest, not sounding like he cared all that much. Still, he was asking.

He shot a look up to James, wondering if he'd be able to call some help for this man that seemed to be dying. Maybe Deity?
