Well, I'm a fan of the A-Wing, so I thought that was pretty cool, and that all 4 were modified to have hyperdrive, and one of them could even have a second passanger.

All rebel fighters had hyperdrives. The A-wing moreso than the rest. It had to do hit-and-run missions, so speed was a necessity.

He's right. Once the X-wing came out, almost all rebel fighters were required to have hyperdrives.

Hmmm... Maybe it wasn't a hyperdrive... Maybe is was stronger shields... Hmmm, I can remember...

Thats about the best thing the rebs had: shielded, harder hitting, faster fighters with hyperdrives

Well, and the best pilots. And if you say the Imps had the best pilots, remember how many rebel pilots started out as Imps.

The thing that saddens me is the lack of care the Empire has for it's pilots, in the beginning TIE fighters did not even have shields.

True, but TIEs were very maneuverable.
Great pilots, like Fel, didn't need shields to stay alive. And you have to consider the size of the Empire.. Its not economically satisfying to have shielded craft...

Nelowulf True, but TIEs were very maneuverable. As the countless Rogure Squadrun-induced nightmares I have had are any indication... Damn, those things are annoying!
