Wynter folded her arms as she was ushered below deck. Once her eyes adjusted, she gazed about the ship. It was much like a submarine like the ones on First Earth, though there were less pipes and it seemed more advanced. It wasn’t long before they reached what seemed to be the bunking portion of the ship. Their group seemed to separate slightly as each of them were pushed to different rooms.

Someone came in and set a tray of food and swimskins on the table in Wynter’s room and began to leave.

“Erm, excuse me.” She called. The man turned back and looked into the room.

“Could you get me something to write on please? If it’s not too much to ask.”

The man nodded and soon returned with peculiar paper and a strange writing utensil. Wynter remembered the type of paper from Gunny’s journals. After the man left again, Wynter shut the door and changed into her swimskins. They fit fine, she just felt a little strange in them.

Taking a chair she sat at the table and began to write, but didn’t really know what to put down. She figured she would just do what Gunny did:

Journal 1

Hey, Jet. Sorry I left so quickly back on First Earth, you must be out of your mind right now. Can you believe this? It actually worked! The Journals were real, everything is real!

Hold on a minute, before I get too ahead of myself. You must be freaking out right about now. Just know that I’m alright. I’m a bit sore and tired right now, not to mention I have this huge bump on my head, but don’t worry about me. I know that’s easier said than done, but please don’t stress out over me.

I guess I should start telling you what happened huh? Wouldn’t that be nice, eh? First, let me start of with when I left you at the flume . . .

~*~*~*~*~*~

“I’ll wait for you if you wait for me.”

Wynter’s last words echoed off the rocky cavern walls as the light and music faded back to black. Jet stood facing the mouth of the flume, his eyes wide with fear.

“Oh . . . my . . . freaking . . . GOD!” he shouted, “Wynter?! Oh you crazy b***h.”

It had worked. How had it worked? So many thoughts and questions were running through his head, he didn’t feel like he could take any more. That’s when his ring began to twitch. It grew around his finger until it fell to the floor. He backed away from it dumbfounded.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” He mumbled. The ring acted just as the flume did and emitted bright lights and muddled music. Jet shielded his eyes and suddenly the lights and sounds stopped.

Jet looked to the ground quickly and saw his ring with something sitting beside it. He picked up a strange sort of paper and saw Wynter’s handwriting scribbled on it. He looked at it disbelievingly and began to read.

Journal 1

Hey, Jet. Sorry I left so quickly back on First Earth, you must be out of your mind right now. Can you believe this? It actually worked! The Journals were real, everything is real! . . .

((Yeah, although Bob_Henry/Bookworm is no longer in this and I believe you were with her character. I have to delete her character. You don't totally have to start over, just say she flumed somewhere and found someone. I might make another character to help move things along etc. so PM me on that one and I'll get you started.))

((And nobody's posting again. I guess it's because no one has anything to say XP. Let's see . . . let's get things going and get some Saint Dane action in here.))
Wynter made sure no one was around and that her door was closed before she sent her journal. If she hadn’t read Gunny’s journals she would never have guessed how to use her ring. It was a strange phenomenon as was the flume. Everything was strange now, nothing made any sense.

Wynter had already eaten so she decided to lie down. She would have fallen asleep had it not been for a knock at the door. Sighing, she stood up and went to the door and opened it. A tall man stood in her doorway with a smile on his face. She figured it was one of the ship’s crew.

“Can I help you?” she asked.

“They told us to check up on the guests. Is there anything you need?” he replied.

“No,” Wynter shook her head, “I’m fine.”

The man paused, seemingly trying to find a reason to keep her there.

“What’s that on your finger?” he said, taking a step forward. Wynter backed up and brought up her hand to cover it.

“A ring.” She answered shortly. Wynter’s intuition began to kick in, telling her something wasn’t right. She suddenly began noticing several things. The man was not dressed as the other members of the crew were – in the colors of crimson and gold.

He took another couple of slow steps forward and Wynter kept their distance by moving backwards.

“Ah,” he mused, “It’s been a while since I’ve seen one of that variety.”

Her mind was racing as the man continued to encroach upon her. He had seen the rings before? Yes, he was even wearing one himself. That’s not right, Hezex is the traveler from Cloral and he doesn’t have an acolyte. Taking another step backwards Wynter hit the wall. It was as if the wall had tapped into her a deadly realization and she froze, a single name creeping into her mind. Saint Dane.

She had to get out of there.

Wynter ran forward pushing herself past the man before her – Saint Dane in disguise. He grabbed her hair as she flew past him and pulled her back. She delivered a swift punch to his neck and he let go with a strangled shout. Bolting out the door, she clambered along the ship’s passageway, her footsteps making a loud racket.

“Hezex! Azrael! SOMEBODY!” she yelled. Someone grabbed her wrist and she swung sideways, colliding with the wall. I’m tired of getting the sense knocked out of me, damnit!

Somebody tugged her to her feet, pinning her against the wall and she fought back dizzily.

“Somebody hel—!” her words were cut short as a hand closed around her throat. Gazing to the owner of the hand, she came to the face of Saint Dane, though she knew from Gunny’s journals that he was not in his true form. But he still had the cold, listless blue eyes as described. She was afraid the descriptions didn’t do them justice.

“I thought I was done with you stupid kids!” Saint Dane seethed as he lifted her up higher on the wall. Wynter struggled for air as her feet lifted from the ground and dangled uselessly.

“Bobby and his generation were supposed to be the last, by why did you come back?!” he shouted. He paused to compose himself and smiled at her maliciously, “More fun for me I guess. Now I’m almost glad I haven’t killed that miserable traveler from Second Earth. So where are you from eh? I’ll be sure to destroy your territory first.”

Wynter fought weakly, darkness beginning to cloud in on her vision. She blinked, trying to keep from passing out, though she knew she could only keep awake for a little longer.

“Go home little girl.” Saint Dane said, “It’s already almost too late for Cloral. You will never catch up with what’s been going on in time to save it. Just give me nod and I’ll let you go and send you off home.”

Wynter grimaced as she struggled to breathe. She couldn’t just give up, she knew. She couldn’t just go home and act like none of this had actually happened. It wasn’t just about saving the existence of other worlds, other lives; but it was also about what would happen to her home. Saint Dane would get to it and it was only a matter of time.

With what little strength she had left, Wynter glared at Saint Dane and kept eye contact with him, shaking her head no.

“Have it your way then.” He chuckled, closing his hand around her neck tighter.

((oober long, but -- viola, Saint Dane.))

Celiene and Caesar made their way up the mountain, with surprisingly little quig attacks. The most were at the lower part of the mountain; closer to the village. Celiene just stuck with using the whistle. It was rather effective, and she just didn't want to use her spear. There wasn't a true need, and taking lives wasn't a hobby. So she and Caesar settled with the whistles and hiked on, neither making true attempts to conversation.

Finally at the top, Celiene desperately searched for the flume she had heard so much about from her father, Alder, in his letters. Caesar sat on a craggy rock, looking doubtful. Celiene whacked him with her hat again. He looked up at her as if to say, 'what? I came here, didn't I?'
"Just help look," Celiene said in return.
With a shrug, Caesar stood up. He walked toward a cold, damp cavern. Poking his head around, he saw it was perfectly normal, no flash of lights, nothing---except for a crudely carved star on the far wall.
All the color drained from his face.
Celiene jogged by. "Anything?" she asked briefly, still refusing to make eye-contact, still rather annoyed with him for not believing her father.
Caesar didn't answer.
"Hellooo?" Celiene asked impatiently, then looked in herself.
Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest. "See?" she shouted triumphantly. "It's here, I told you it would be! Father wouldn't lie, I knew it, I knew it..." she stopped. Caesar was staring at the ground. Celiene whacked him on the head again with her hat. "C'mon, it's okay, just admit I'm right," she broke into a playful smile.
But when Caesar looked up, he was anything but smiling. He looked as if he were to cry, if Caesar cried.
"Caesar!" Celiene said in alarm. "What's wrong?" after she said it, she realized how stupid that was--confirming there's an evil-doer out to kill your territory wasn't a great comforter.
"Well," he said quietly. "You're leaving then, aren't you?"
Celiene looked puzzled. "Huh?"
"Well, duh! You're the next Traveler. So go."
"But--y'know--Caesar..." she sat down cross-legged on a craggy rock next to him. For a moment, she couldn't find the right words, and they sat there in awkward silence.
"I'll let you be my acolyte," she finally said, as if she were offering to throw him a party.
"Gee, thanks," he said sarcastically. It was obvious Celiene didn't have anyone but Caesar to make acolyte anyways.
"I'll write to you?" Celiene said in a question, as though asking if it made the situation better.
"Special." He turned away.
"Well, do I have a choice?"
He sighed. "Guess not..."
"I don't want to leave."
"You don't?"
Another whack from the hat. "Are you mad? Heck, no! Risk my life to save Halla, for what? I'd like to live, thank you very much."
He smiled. "But...promise me something."
"Sure. Anything."
"Y'know how your father wrote about Bobby...how he had Courtney, but then he met Loor, and...y'know..."
Celiene stared at him in shock. "What're you saying?" she asked, playing dumb.
"Don't...do that," he said weakly, meeting her eyes directly for the first time that day.
"I won't," Celiene said back, and held him in a tight, quick hug.
She surprised the both of them when she gave Caesar a quick peck on the cheek. He looked at her for a moment, a puzzled smile growing on his face.
"I'll see you soon," Celiene said, a tear forming in her eye, because she knew both of them knew it wasn't true, it was just a flimsy lie to hold on to so they wouldn't loose hope.
"Sure," he said vaguely in reply.
"But..." Celiene felt the ghost of a smile on her lips. "I wouldn't have to go yet."
"Why?"
"Because my father said that the time's different, and when they need me...they'll come."
"Are you sure--?"
"Yup," Celiene confirmed. They sat in silence for the remainder of the time they had together. Neither of them seemed to mind, either. On the contrary, they were perfectly content. It wasn't until the sound of mixed, sweet notes were heard that Celiene bit her lip in anxiety. She was going to leave soon. She was actually going to join the battle against a seemingly insane antagonist, with her life on the line. She was having second thoughts, suddenly...but no, she told herself. Don't think of it that way. Look at it in the light of following your father's footsteps... a small glimmer of hope appeared amidst all the worry. She suddenly felt at peace. She'd be following her father...

"im telling the truth i swer" hezex pleadedd "oh i bealiev alright." ezeal said sarcasticly "i beleiv that you need to spend some time alone in your room so you dont tell my man any of this." "WAIT" hezex yelled "let me show you u can diside for yourself whether im full of crap or not, you owe me that much." "fine ill get all the supplies you stay here." in afew minets he returned sith everything they needed, "im going to go for a swim with my friend" he said to one of the crew, then they jumped off the side of the ship.

((ummm, did I miss something?? cuz I dont remember u saying that u would hijack my character like that, but w/e))

Azrael looked at the gaping hole in the rock face, still unbelieving bu accepting the fact that it could be possible, after everything that he had gone throught on Zadaa, nothing seemed impossible. He let his mind wander as he got bored, how exiting could a hole be after all? when he sensed somethng was wrong. "Hezex, something is wrong on the ship, come on." He started back into the water. "Wait! how do you know this?" Hezex asked in a desperate but confused tone. "I cant explain right now, on the way there ill tell you, but we have too leave!"...

Back on the ship, Wynter's vision was receding to black...
