Rep listened to the thing demand something else, this time Melvin and found himself bitterly pulling away from the situation. Melvin had been a friend once but these days he seemed to throw himself at almost anything, from psychos to Atlantis. He was struck with the sad and bitter feeling he didn't know the man any longer and that he would do whatever he wanted.
It seemed at least that things would quieten again back on the island, which was what he wanted, given that Mask was out and about and he didn't want him to get hurt.
It was a grim state of affairs, but it wasn't his to control any longer. Melvin would do what he had to do, whatever that was.
"Enjoy your ******** mermaids." he said.

Kim awoke alone in the pod room, a gasp of shock coming from her. She was alone, and cold. She looked around with slow mounting fear. No not alone, it was still dark, cold.. something was still there. She could tell and it scared her, it made her insides curl up. There were signs she wasn't alone the whole time. A chair to the side, Oh s**t.. her body still there. In the pod. She looked down at it, putting her hand to the cold surface then she looked around. Nothing but her, but still something felt like it was watching. This wasn't done yet, whatever wanted her was still with her, even though she had made it back here. She shuddered and sat on top of her pod, glancing down at her own face. This was a creepy feeling.

Luka didn't know what to do and in the wake of everything she had remained silent, standing there sopping wet next to her twin as they tried to figure out a way to appease Atlantis without fighting and then-
Melvin was being told to stay.
What did that mean.
Amber eyes blinked and she stepped forward, towards the seasoned hunter. "Can we...come back, bring you supplies?" They hadn't brought much with them on the mission. How was Melvin going to survive down here with so little? "Isn't there more we can do?

It was time for goodbye and he wasn't sure the extend of it. Stay for a while could mean anything but it also helped to think that it could lead to progress. As Seren came, he offered her a weak smile. "I can only do as much as allowed but I have no intention of giving up. I'd like to hear from you soon too. Right now I need you to focus getting back safe and sound and helping those who got injured in the infirmary. Alright?"
To Al he set a hand on his shoulder. "Al, calm down. It's okay. Atlantis had humans here before. I'm sure they know the limits of our bodies. They have also had power all this time too without our energy. It will be fine. Don't worry. Just get home to Noah." He told him that should be Al's chief concern. "Tell ...everyone I'll be okay. I don't want a fight starting because they think it's a hostage situation."
To Rep he frowned. "Yes well...thanks for fighting to get us here." But not for picking fights and not offering an artifact for peace. "Be safe."
He looked to Luka. "I should be okay. Just make sure no one takes my gear at the entrance as I will need it. I'm not sure you will be able to come back and don't want to risk anyone getting upset." Atlantis in particular. "I need all the gear I borrowed returned too. It belongs to Sun. Can you help with that?"
He waited to see everyone off.

She didn't like this, but she did her best to keep the negative thoughts from bubbling up. Atlantis said that they could travel safely, to and from, hadn't it? As long as Melvin stayed behind.
Maybe...Maybe they could come back later and leave stuff at the entrance for him.
Biting down on her bottom lip she wrinkled her nose, toying with the edges of her coat. "Okay." She sounded more sure than she felt. "I'll make sure no one touches your stuff and everything gets taken back."
The girl didn't know him very well, but she wanted to see him come back some time, surely he had more to offer to them than just Atlantis, but he said he would be okay and she chose to believe him.
"Don't make us wait too long, okay?"

Lena looked about as perplexed as her twin did at the request.
Melvin... stay? Stay where? There? And do what, exactly???
Luka seemed more confident, offering to help even. Lena could only nod her head for an echo effect, softly chirping up a "Yeah, we'll.... we'll do that."
None of it made any sense to her, but she wasn't in a position to ask any questions. So, instead, she simply stepped forward to draw closer to her better half as one hand moved out to take hold of her sibling's coat in an attempt to remain strong, herself.

A shoulder pat wasn't going to cut it. Al swooped his arms around Melvin to hug him tightly. "Damn it man, what if you.... what if you don't ever get to leave? What if it's ******** years? These robots have no concept of ******** time man." He buried is face against Melvin's neck. Such a child. Such a dumb child. Men don't cry. Grown men never cry.

He slowly wrapped his arms around him and patted his back. "You're....not really helping me not think about that. Let's instead think of me leaving sometime this year.....okay?" He managed, turning his head away from Al so he wouldn't sink into the negatives of what this whole situation entailed. A little break of a twig could send his whole composition snapping into one of being overwhelmed. He had to take a deep breath. Deep breath.
"Just....just don't let them take all my stuff or something if they clear out my room." He managed, patting his back a few more times. "Kay?"

"I won't let them," he promised with a burble in his voice. "I won't let them touch any of your s**t, no even your room. They'll have to ******** go through me man." He meant it too with every fiber of his being. Letting them ******** with any of Melvin's s**t would be like saying he wasn't coming back and that - wasn't okay. He refused to accept that possible outcome. Be strong. You can be strong. Stop crying. He'll be back and okay... and maybe only a ******** yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr.
He was ******** crying.

"Well don't get podded over it. Just take the stuff to storage." He pointed out, not wanting it to get too out of hand.
It was not clear Al was cry, and as he patted his back, he looked around for anyone who might be able to take Al away and see he made it out of Atlantis.

Auburn brows arched in obvious shock as the judge seemed to more or less relent. The storm was over, the island was safe, and they'd all be allowed to leave. Well, not all. Zeke glanced at Melvin as the other man agreed to the terms, lips pressing into a thin line before h shook his head and blew out a breath, one had coming up to push fingers through wet hair. This didn't seem like the best idea, though holding onto the best case scenario, it was better than he'd been expecting. If this was the alliance Atlantis was making it out to sound, Melvin wouldn't remain there longer than was safe for him. He'd wait for everyone else to say their bit before walking over to lay a hand on Melvin's shoulder, leaning in and speaking lowly. "You're absolutely sure about this?" Zeke did't want Atlantis closed to them anymore than Melvin did, but it also wasn't his own neck on the line here. "Do you have your phone? Does it work down here?" At the very least, maybe they can keep in contact.

Glancing over her shoulder, Soleil shot Zane a long, worried look. Things seemed like they were just moving progressively faster towards a resolution that was less than ideal, and she didn't have a ******** clue how to stop it. As if the lot of them was standing on a set of train tracks in the center of a tunnel, and the light of the approaching train was baring down on them. Impending disaster and dread. Wordlessly she reached back for him, but her hand stilled at the mermaid statue began to speak again. And was apparently far more reasonable than she'd seemed up to this point. Soleil blinked, spirits lifting considerably. Right up until the status said Melvin had to stay. That had her turning to stare at the blonde that had led them there, worrying at her lower lip.

To say Oliver was unsettled by this turn of events was an understatement. There were too many unknowns in the situation, and the reassurance of safe passage was not enough to put his mind at rest. Melvin's own desire to do research with a willing and friendly Atlantis was not enough. He approached next to Zeke. "If you are going to stay here for an unspecified amount of time, can we at least ask Atlantis about supplying you with the necessities before we leave? I-in case the phone doesn't work... a-and you can't give us updates..." Oliver nervously brushed an imaginary strand of hair out of his face. "We can accept that you want to stay, but we can't up and abandon you."

Melvin turned to look over Al's shoulder and patted the man to then help him aside so he could talk to Zeke.
"I'm sure as these options give us. Limited causalities. No outright war. Atlantis could deliberate and decide if it wasn't to continue allowing us to be connected to them then shut off completely. In the grand scheme, it's the best option, and the first thing I wanted to do once this all settled was to continue researching Atlantis so.....it's just doing that....for longer." It was clear he was struggling to turn everything into a positive despite hos tightly he was gripping the Atlantis artifact.
"It will be fine. I have my phone but...this place drains runic energy. It's why I need you guys to assure everyone that for the time being, I'm here to try and make a good connection with Atlantis and to not act hastily. If it takes time, it takes time. We insulted Atlantis. Insulting an entire culture doesn't take a night - pretty sure. ....I haven't actually done something like this before." He gave a strained laugh.
"Zeke. You dove with me before. You have diving experience. Can you make sure everyone has their gear on properly and gets back to the surface. I don't want anyone having second thoughts and trying to come back or having trouble with their equipment. If anything is malfunctioning or low then.....just take mine." He whispered to him. "Can you do that?"
To Oliver, he shrugged. "They have been listening to use since. You could ask. The worst they can say is no. I'm not sure they will open the doors until whatever decision they make it made. I just don't want to betray the trust they apparently have given me. And it's not abandoning me if I wanted to do whatever I could to keep a fight from happening. I could have given the bare minimum and left with all of you. I want to stay to see if we can do better than that. I want Atlantis to be our comrades. We need this, and I want this."

As Melvin pushed Al gently away, Jordan moved over to take hold of the younger man's shoulder and steer him back. "Get it together, man," he said quietly, not unsympathetic. "This is Melvin's choice. He wants to keep this alliance, and these are the terms. It wouldn't be demanding he stay if it couldn't keep him safe while he's here, not if it's offering this as a compromise." He hoped he was right. The reasoning made sense to him, and the only alternative would be to drag Melvin out against his will, and that might bring the anger of Atlantis's guards back down on them. That would be throwing away all the progress they'd made since they entered the city and taking away the choice of a peaceful agreement.
