Chiara gave the chemical leak a glare. What was it doing here? Who was so silly that they actually went and let something like this happen? Sure, it did make for some rather interesting moments. Scientists running around like chicken-beasts without heads. Trolls slipping in the goo and acid. The blueblood spotted a redblood she had been bothering earlier. "Heeey~" Chiara called as she sauntered over to the boy. "So, whatcha think?" She said gesturing to the panel of buttons and whatever. Before waiting for a response the blueblood poked the control panel, and then quickly stepped back, frowning. "Alright! Your turn."

As he continued to flip through the manual a voice jolted him out of his thoughts. Its owner was the blueblood from before. Ephias' face remained impassive, without emotion or flicker of recognition. He stepped aside as she made her way over to let her work. She looked like she knew what she was doing. When he saw her punch in a series of random (they were random) buttons however, he began to have his doubts.

“Wait, that's...!” Too late.

Electricity lanced out, spidering over the both of them. Ephias let out a yelp. He dropped the manual and proceeded to hop about, dodging the sparks. “I think that didn't help,” he said flatly.

"Never mind that, what happened to you?!" Scorpa gasped, pissed off upon seeing a bruise on Lorata's face. No one could convince her a mere chemical leak had done that! When she found out who was responsible they were going to eat fist! She didn't mind the missing shirt as much. While the seadweller's clothes were undoubtedly expensive, the chemical leak would probably ruin anything they were wearing anyway. Scorpa assumed Lorata had removed it herself to protect it. Scorpa wasn't known for being smart.

"Austri must already be in the vents." The yellowblood nodded as they approached the control room. Immediately she was overwhelmed by all of the tech inside. The oozing chemical flood was gross but at least it hadn't been confusing. As Lorata and Flydra looked over the controls, Scorpa hissed her displeasure at being unable to help and punched a wall to vent. This action bumped the wall hard enough to open the vent above and shower her in a toxic cloud. Coughing, the girl staggered backwards and waved the air away from her and her friends.

Lorata asked her to investigate the buttons and Flydra nodded obediently. It was her duty to handle any requests given to her by a highblood, especially a friend like Lorata. The seadweller was so charismatic and easy to follow. The tealblood followed her team mates insides the building, ignoring the obvious signs of disaster around every corner. The danger didn't faze her. Flydra never seemed too bothered by threat of injury. The body was incredibly resilient, she'd learned. Trollkind had not survived this long by sneaking around conflict like a coward. There was a reason their culture was so abrasive and violent. It was because they could handle it.

And so would the sirens.

"Judging by the console, it should be a simple matter. It goes like this." She had seen something like this before somewhere in a book. Top right, two in from the left, press the middle button twice and then- The vents did not move or close at all. Several red lights lit up like popcorn kernels exploding all at once and she took a step away from the machine in alarm.

"I've miscalculated. Lorata, please, stand back." The fumes continued to pour out of the vent and she coughed as she inhaled them. It was up to her, Scorpa and Austri to prevent any of them from reaching or harming their princess! Ugh, the stuff was painful to breathe in.

Chiara cracked up, and it turned into a vocal laugh as the electricity finally stopped its tingling. It would probably come back to bite her later, the electricity tended to mess with muscles. Chiara grinned, enjoying the pain for the moment. "Guess that wasn't the right one." Chiara winked at the redblood as she shook herself out, and stretched, an audible crack coming from her hands. "Not exactly pleasant... But hey, did you seen the acid burns that rampant packing bot spewed? Ill take this any day." The blueblood stepped back from the machine, giving the other troll room to try his hand.

Even as they danced around the electricity, the blueblood burst into laughter. Ephias did not bother to wonder why. So, she's one of those... The thought passed through his head without so much as a pause for consideration. He had seen too many trolls who were thrilled by danger to be fazed. Besides, he had better things to do than ponder the internal workings of every screwball he came across.

That was not very nice.

“I didn't,” he replied without any further elaboration.

Realising that they were not going to get anywhere by continuing to skirt around the issue (literally), Ephias braved the electricity and ploughed his way over to the machine. Ignoring the blue sparks that smarted against his skin and made his hair dance, he studied the system interface. Then his eyes roved over the controls. Some of it looked familiar. He recognised enough to do something, but...

“Take a deep breath,” Ephias warned the blueblood. He keyed in a command. Several lights blinked off on the ventilation readings. Overhead however, there was the sound of a shaft opening and toxic chemicals spewed into the room. Ephias pulled his scarf over his mouth.

You flip through the pages and glean some bit of insight about how this damn thing works, but you're starting to see double and pass it off to another troll in the hopes it can help. Chiara groaned, she knew what the acid felt like. The sparks hurt, but they were a new experience, the acid on the other hand made her feel sick. The blueblood managed to throw herself out of the way of a majority of the slime, only getting a few splatters. "Well, now ya know." Chiara said shrugging. "Here, I'll try and get that stuff off before it burns a hole through your think pan or something." Chiara turned to a nearby desk and grabbed two handfulls of what looked like a pile of oil stained rags. She chucked one hand full at the oozing redblood. As the blueblood lifted the second handful of rags over her head to throw, a book fell out of the pile. Chiara got a brief glance at the book before her vision started to get fuzzy. "I think, uh, I think I found somethin."

"Wait! I think I remember something about this!" Scorpa hollered over the loud panic of her friends and general sirens wailing (which could really describe both of those things actually). Pushing her way to the control panel, the yellowblood began to key in a succession of button while reciting an odd memory puzzle. She thought she'd heard some other trolls say it earlier when they'd first arrived, though she hadn't paid it much mind. Now was her chance to shine and impress Lorata!

"I! M! Sofa! King! Stew! Ped!" The girl attempted to match lettered buttons with the strange chant. With a final slam on the P button, she let out a triumphant yell and grinned, waiting for her victory. Instead the machine began to short out with the chemicals flooding the room and the sequence opening all of the overhead vents in the room.

"s**t, it got worse!? Then what the hell was that?!" While Scorpa's affection could brighten up other trolls' nights, her brightness was known for being of a limited kind.

"Yes, gorgeous, I will!" How embarrassing, she had completely failed in front of her seadweller. Getting it wrong had disastrous consequences too, filling the room with awful smoke and haze that made it hard to breathe and see. It couldn't end like this. Scorpa flooded the room with more gas and Flydra knew they couldn't keep this up for long.

"Scor, please, don't get too close to the vents." Austri and Scorpa were their fighters in case anything went wrong so they needed to be in top condition. Rolling up the sleeves of her labcoat, she eyed the buttons and looked for a pattern. There had to be something that made it all make sense. Pythag's theorem perhaps and then... or maybe it had to do with...

Pressing a few buttons, she watched and waited. Something slowly emerged and her droopy eyes widened in anticipation. Was it a shutdown trigger of some kind? It had a small light and-

Z-Z-ZZZZAP!


"I can't see! It's all DARK!" Flydra's voice was shrill and panicked as she fumbled around the room temporarily blinded and she crashed into several items in her desperation. Long pigtails trailed behind as the young siren searched desperately for a familiar and friendly voice calling her name!

"Ohhh, it's torture, Cleo." Amonee moaned dramatically as the two teens wandered through the toxic maze. He was a boy of fresh air, nature hikes and watching the sun rise on a cool clear morning. Not someone accustomed to dark brooding buildings full of chemicals and science. The whole experience was very uncomfortable and he was only in here in hopes of preventing the catastrophe from coming true. Pollution floated in the air and he coughed and covered his mouth with a hand. Nucleo found a book of some sort and the two stepped aside to thumb through it. The other boy motioned at a counter to sit on and Amonee shrugged as if to say 'what could it hurt?'

Pulling himself up, he sat his bottom down on the counter comfortably before crashing through with a scream.

"It's a vent! It's a vent, Cleo! HELP! I'm scared- I can't!" What they had taken as a counter built along the wall was actually a metallic vent with weakened structural integrity that had easily crumbled under the weight of Amonee Brycer. Legs flailed in the air as the boy tried to scramble back up and out of the hole he was half trapped in. His eyes were brimming with tears from the pain of the fumes and humiliation as he switched between a coughing fit from inhaling after his breathless scream and kicking around to get out.

Gnash went to the site of the chemical leak, despite the protesting from her lusus. She thought if she helped out in something so dangerous, other trolls would have no choice but to admire her! She held her breath and punched in some buttons she thought might close off the leak, but when she did, suddenly the monitor lit up with red lights, indicating more leaks. She gasped, and coughed. Oh no... She started hitting more buttons frantically, which only made the coughing worse as she began to breathe in more chemicals. She held a hand up to her throat, and rested her head against her lusus. This was going to be bad...

More disasters! This one was particularly insidious and dangerous for the trolls in the hub. A chemical leak could really hurt someone. She momentarily suspected that perhaps Chittentown was trying to sabotage them with a dirty trick like this, but even for sabotage it seemed a bit harsh. This was supposed to be a competition, not a war.

She punched buttons she was sure would close some panels and decrease the number of dots on the monitor, but something went wrong. Suddenly there were many more dots, and frantically Eostre tried to change it back, breathing in some fumes and chemicals.

Eostre dealt 6 damage to the chemical leak.

Natash tried to write down locations of buttons, keeping her breath held. Her long, scrawling hand wrote down a bunch of information, but she had been holding her breath for too long. She sucked in a breath and resumed her coughing fit, tears stinging her eyes. She was getting really dizzy too and wanted to throw up. "Angel..."she cried between coughs. Her lusus wheezed alongside her, but opened her mouth. She could take refuge instead... her skin crawled. She would rather try to sit outside just a bit more. It wasn't that bad yet!

She decided to wait and take note of what others were doing, to try and reduce the amount of time spent directly inhaling horrible fumes. Her respiratory system was delicate, as an athlete. She didn't want to damage it. Finding a logical succession of buttons to press, Eostre clicked them rapidly, only to be shocked on the sniffnode. "Ugh," she groaned, and then more lasers zapped at her feet! She tried to avoid them, which successfully wasted a ton of her time until she managed to reverse it, by waiting for the panel to reset. What a waste of time!
