Ebele was fired up! She was determined! She was so ready to charge the stupid fail copy and absolutely destroy it!
Charging was exactly what she would do. Ebele ran at the doppelganger, eyes narrowed and lips quirked in a smirk. She charged at fake Ebele's center, grabbing her around the waist and throwing her down with a loud roar. It was decently effective, at least, for a knock down from a first year student, anyway. But that was enough to make the previously very agitated Ebele even more determined and perhaps even more showy, walking away and stomping off with a victorious screech towards the sky.
HP: 28 - 2 = 26

Ebele may have already been excitedly showing off, but she wasn't letting herself get taken away by the sudden feeling of victory. No, when she saw that the doppelganger had gotten back up and had started running at her, Ebele lifted her fist and held it up, letting the other Ebele smash into it and probably hurt her fist a bit as well. But Ebele didn't care. She knew what she was going to do.
She was going to win!

Ebele might have been wearing herself out, because each successive hit was making less of an impact. She didn't seem to notice, though, too busy cackling and wailing on her doppelganger, determined to absolutely destroy this mockery and finally not be a loser, because she wasn't a loser, and she knew she wasn't a loser, Christmas just didn't understand!
She returned a swipe from the doppelganger with an equal swipe, and then took a moment to stand proud before jumping right back into it.
HP: 24 - 2 = 22

She was fairly consistently landing hits, and that was fine with Ebele. One swipe, two swipe, three swipe, four. The doppelganger tried to hit her, and she parried with a return hit, starting to feel the blood pump in her veins because she could smell the upcoming victory.
Or maybe that was just sweat.

Finally, the doppelganger managed to land a hit that did more harm to Ebele than Ebele was able to do to it. She made a small whine when the hit landed, but she straightened herself out. No! She refused to lose now! She was going to win!

She. Was going. To win!It was that final determination that refused to let her stand down or stand back, and she slammed her fist into the gut of the doppelganger, making it cringe back. It backed away, stepping back and clutching itself, before it just poofed away in a bunch of black smoke. Ebele cackled, leaning her head back and letting out a victorious roar. "SEE?!" She was shouting at no one, but she didn't care. "I WON! I told all you Christmas people that I WAS THE BOSS!" Acting like she had, in fact, just won in entire thing, she charged up the stairs like she was in a fighting movie and grabbed the medal at the top, lifting it up in the air and, once again, letting out another victorious roar. She jumped around and let out a few more victorious noises, bending down and doing a victorious dance. Ebele finally left the stadium after a few minutes of this, strutting victoriously all the while. Serafina was rather nervous. A battle? She had to prove herself with a battle?
She knew that she had, much to her surprise, done rather well so far overall. But none of the things she had done so far involved any display of strength or ability. Serafina was okay at battling, she supposed, but it was more luck than anything else, she suspected. She wasn't very physically strong, after all. She was a ghost.
But at the same time, it looked like she was fighting herself. She had done this before, right? She had to fight herself to even become a third year in the first place. There was no reason why she could not pull it off again, right? She just had to be patient. She had to take measured strikes.
Perhaps she would open by showing that she had the ability to take herself on. She closed her eyes and let her fingers lengthen into blades, waving them and tapping them against her wrists and upper arms. Then, cautiously, she moved foward, swiping her claws through the air.
What she didn't realize was that she was absolutely tearing through the doppelganger, swiping with strikes that left it crying out in pain much like she would with a bad hit. The sound made her nervous, and she uneasily moved back.
HP: 60 - 4 = 56

Alright. She just needed to evaluate her...self a bit further so she could kept up the onslaught and stay ahead. That shouldn't be too difficult, right?
Serafina pulled at her tank top nervously.
That kind of hesitance was, unfortunately, not going to get her anywhere in this particular battle. She found herself struck before she could do much more than a bit of a pathetic swipe of her claws back.

Maybe she shouldn't be that patient. Or hesitant. She had to try harder, right?
Or be faster, at least. A faster strike would serve her well. She hoped. She needed to stop hesitating. Serafina swallowed down her nervousness and looked for the right moment to strike against her oddly aggressive and definitely unfashionable self. When she saw it, she went down and swiped.
It was a success. There she went! That was how to do it...

Now she just needed to watch again, right? That was how she would win this, no matter her actual talent level.
Serafina clocked her doppelganger's movements, watching as it moved from left to right and all around in an attempt to fool her. She wasn't falling for it, though. She was patient, and she could make this happen.
Once again, she managed to make a measured hit just when she needed to, and it did a similar amount of damage. Serafina just needed to keep it up.

Measured, patient, and precise strikes. She could do this. She could win.
Serafina shifted once again, cracking her knuckles and leaning forward a bit. She was learning her horribly unfashionable self's movements, and she was getting better at tracking them. That showed with her next strike, one with near deadly precision. It cried out again, and nervousness entered Serafina's expression once more.
No, no, she couldn't get afraid. This wasn't her. She wasn't scared.
She needed to make her ghosts proud.

Could she possibly manage to pull this off? Serafina tried to push down her nerves, staring down herself. She had to win. She had to win for her ghosts and for herself. Patience would serve her well. She had to take a measured shot and -- there! Serafina smashed her fist into the side of herself, and the ugly sweater disappeared in a poof of black smoke, along with the odd version of herself with incredibly poor taste in fashion. Wait, she had done it? Serafina's eyes widened in surprise as she looked from where she had been to her hand and back again. She had done it. She had actually done it! Her fingers retracted back to their normal size as she tried to fight the tears coming to her eyes. She had actually done well. Serafina was surprised. She always doubted herself, but she had done well in every single event in the House Cup. How was she doing so well? Maybe it was herself, really. Maybe there were no outside factors. She kept this in mind with an odd smile, taking the medal and walking out of the stadium. All that Deacon could really think when he saw his own doppelganger was that it really had horrible taste in clothing.
