"Oh... look, these plushies kinda look like you," the geist mused softly to the small Kidden who seemed to be perfectly content following her around. The creature gave the sweetest noise in response, making Braelyn giggle quietly as she leaned down, gently picking the critter up to hold it close to her chest as they made their way over towards the booth.
It was some kind of ball tossing game, it seemed; get the ball in the cups and you could win.
"I'm... not really... a good shot... but I'll try," Braelyn muttered softly, gnawing gently on her bottom lip, before nodding, taking the first offered ball.
Three balls in three cups later, and Braelyn found herself cradling the small Kidden, as well as the small kidden plushie with her other arm, a smile on her lips.
Hailey was thrilled as anything that they were all going to go play after they were done with the festival. Something at a booth right across the way caught her eye, so she grabbed Malachi's hand and quickly dragged him over, leaning in to whisper to him -- even though they were clearly out of earshot. "Let's get these bracelets and give them to those two! friendship bracelets!" and she grinned and bounced excitedly.
A sound, somewhat akin to that of an 'oops' and 'whoa' came from Malachi's mouth as he was -- once again -- dragged off to a different booth. What in the world was Hailey up to?! When they stopped suddenly, he stumbled and bumped into her a bit, but she didn't pay it any mind. Leaning in as she whispered to him, a pout formed on his face as he whispered back in a whining tone "But I only have one more plant left to get. Haileyyyyy..." but there was that look she gave him and he knew it was futile to fight her one this. He kept his pout up, though, for once last try to no avail. Unsure if he should smirk at the way she was, or continue pouting was beyond him. And as she grabbed a bracelet up as well, off! they went... and he was dragged back toward the other two once more.
Grinning widely as they made it back to the other two freshlings, Hailey stepped up to Nikora and presented the bracelet. "Friendship bracelet for my new friend!" Little had she known that a curious little Skyfish had been following after her since they were getting the bracelets.
As Malachi puffed while trying to catch his breath again -- one would think he'd be in much better shape from this being a normal thing! -- he looked over at Charmstar and held the bracelet in his hold to him. "F... ah... for you." he managed to get out.

As Dodger wandered back to find Eileen, he couldn't help a few thoughts the were now floating through his head. Was she having fun? Did he come on to strong? and most importantly... where the heck are some gosh danged candy canes?! Aside from brittles and barks, one couldn't truly enjoy the joys of Winter Solstice without them! "Finally!" he exclaimed as he saw a good few choices of candy canes sitting and waiting to be taken up. With that Dodger grin, he set down one of the mugs in his hold, then tucked the candy canes into his jacket pocket. Once he made sure those things were going anywhere, he grabbed the mug back up and headed back out to find Eileen once again.

With the angry bird calmed and snacking, and the little fluffy dog contented and following with tail a-waggin', Bobbi wandered the ground. There was very little to catch the Litch's attentions now. Xe had gathered all the available books at the festival. Games were holding no interest and Bobbi wasn't really all that hungry... But then, out of the corner of xyr eye, Bobbi noticed something xe hadn't seen in quite some time. Walking over to the booth slowly, xe reached out and picked up a snow globe. It had the Academy in it. With a smile growing on Bobbi's face, xe tipped it upside-down and shook it carefully before flipping it back up once more. bringing the little trinket closer, those green eyes watched as the glittery 'snow' danced through the water and slowly down, resting on the 'ground'. Yes... this would be a wonderful thing to bring back home. With a still slight smile, Bobbi shook it up once again before wandering off.
After making a little pit stop to her dorm room, picking up some of her handmade trinkets, Ash had rejoined the celebrations, handing passersby bracelets and necklaces she'd spent hours working on, prior. She even spotted a few daydreams in the crowd and made it a point to make them feel welcome at the Academy, doing her best to smile at everybody even if her mind told her to shy away from all the people. Now, if only she could find a familiar face among all these people.. Buying a cup of hot cocoa, she stopped to scan the surroundings for Chi or her new Astronomy club friend, Frey. Surely he was here somewhere.

Rusalka had been handed a glowing necklace by a passing Elf, who had called her pretty. She wasn't one for compliments, but had accepted the gift nonetheless and was now wearing it around her neck. It was kind of pretty, after all. Glittery and glowy. But at the same time, she would've preferred another book.. but maybe Above folk didn't read the same stuff they did in Below. Would make sense, since the two worlds had been separated for quite a while.
The little Imp hybrid squeaked, almost dropping their little potted plant when someone bumped into them. By a small miracle, the little claws managed to hold onto the planter and the child didn't even lose their balance too bad. Looking at the stranger, Rowan instantly burrowed into their neck fluff somewhat. Oh no, it was a really pretty girl with lovely purple wings.. "I-it's okay, I wasn't paying enough attention either", they stammered. "Um, would you.. maybe want to look around with me, if you're not with anybody? M-my name is Rowan, by the way." While the kids talked, some passing older student gently dropped a bracelet in the hybrid's hands.
Sindri had already managed to finish off his peppermint bark, and now his stomach was hurting just a tiny bit. Maybe he shouldn't have devoured it so quickly.. Oh well. At least if he managed to get his hands on some more, he would probably save the rest of it for his dad, now. Wondering about what to do next, he nearly bumped into a pair of two other Fallen hybrids - siblings, by the looks of it. Maybe they could be friends? "Hey! Have you guys managed to see any daydreams, yet?" he asked to start a conversation, grabbing some candy canes from a stall next to them, holding them out for the other two as well.
That day Cimara picked up a new book at one of the booths. He looked curiously at the title "The Goblet of Secret" it looked like an amusing title, and reason for an enjoyable evening.
Camrine giggled as she picked up the silver boa and draped it around her shoulders. Then she spun around happily, loving the way the pretty boa made her feel.
Glykeria picked up a pretty blue necklace and put it around her neck, the pretty color helped to cheer up her blue mood from yesterday. It was rather funny that a blue necklace was helping her to shake off her blues.

Coco was still thinking about finding a teacher to ask about making a big mural with the other freshlings at the festival. As like a good will winter solstice project. She stopped at a booth giving away cute reindeer hat. When she spotted Milo. Coco's face lite up like solstice lights. She went towards him. "Milo I've been looking for you" she said "I didn't like being around so many people by myself, but I got lots of fun stuff" she said cheerfully "Do you think we could find a teacher, to give us permission to start a mural on one of the walls near by?? So we could invite other freshlings to paint with us?? Like maybe the new Daydreams?? This is suppose to be about making friends with them right??" Coco said in an excited tone. Coco was an orphan, no one had ever taught her she was suppose to hate the Daydreams, so Coco didn't. She had been barely noticed most of her life, not in a hateful or neglectful way. Just she was never anyone's focus.

Gwen picked up a bucket of snowballs, she intended to use for her next research project, perhaps recording how fast the snow balls melted at different temperatures. As well as how far she could throw a snow ball, compared to how far, junior students could throw and snow ball and senior students. Gwen believed that the seniors would throw theirs the farthest.
"Aw, your new friend is adorable, Chries." Alioth cooed, sipping his hot chocolate and debating on whether or not to tell the imp that his flitterrat looked just like the rat Alioth had found. The rats were probably siblings or cousins or something. Mmm, probably not, he had a feeling it would just sour the Imp's excitement; it hadn't escaped his notice that they didn't like him much...not that he minded.
Foras liked him, and that was all that mattered. Alioth snuggled closer to Foras and drank his cocoa. "This was a good idea, Snuggles. It's nice to get out of the bustle and get warm. Plus the sugar will give us some energy for some more games." Alioth grinned at that, though he was already going to have issues with placing all the plushies. Speaking of plushies, the starry Fallen reached up and massaged the back of his boyfriends head where he'd gotten pelted by a plush. "You okay? I know they're soft, but it hit you pretty hard." Since he was looking at the hybrid, he didn't notice a bracelet and yet another plush being left next to him.

Julie shook her head, looking around at the hoards of people. "No, not yet. I just got here and you're the only person I've spoken to so far." And she couldn't just go up to one and say 'hi'. She just wasn't brave enough for that. Julie bit her lip out of nerves just from thinking about going up to someone and starting a conversation.
"Well," Julie looked around as she too grabbed a mug of cocoa. "Oooh, how about this one right here? You can win familiars!" Wagging her tail happily, she beckoned to Shannon and headed over to the booth. Taking some of the enchanted cotton balls, she was able to get three in the little bowls, freezing the water and winning herself a skyfish. Julie put a claw up to her new familiar and the fish nibbled on the tip. "I hope you win something too, Shannon!."

Before his brother could answer, a hybrid showed up out of the crowd. Not just any hybrid either, he looked like a mutated Geist/Fallen like Mani and his siblings. "Hi!" he said, taking one of the proffered candies. "I haven't seen any daydreams, at least none up close. I think I saw a fey's wing, though." Mani shrugged, hearing his antler headband jingle. Oops, forgot about that, he probably looked ridiculous.
Snatching it off his head, he grinned sheepishly at the newcomer. "I'm Mani, and this is my big brother, Munnin. We were just deciding if we should go play a game or not. Wanna come with us?" a blue glowing bulb randomly landed in his lap. Looking up, he saw someone shouting and throwing them into the crowd.

When the chimera didn't answer, however, Kie fidgeted a little bit. "Alright, sorry, that was rude of me. What's the matter?" They asked, snatching some candycanes from a passing vendor and holding them out to the sad looking hybrid.

Tsuki blinked as the hybrid burrowed into their fur; that was, by far, the cutest thing she'd ever seen. Grinning, she decided she was going to go with Rowan, even though she wasn't technically here by herself. "Sure! I'd love to look around with you. I'm Tsukiyomi, but you can call me Tsuki if you like," She held out one of her candycanes she'd gotten from earlier. "Would you like one?"
As she was holding out the candy to the hybrid, someone walked behind her and dropped a plushie on her shoulder. Candy, a new friend, and a plush? Best party ever!
She nodded, moving back toward the table and trusting Ellis to follow. Since they were still so close, she thought she might pick up some peppermint bark to go with her candy canes. There was something about the flavor of mint that calmed her even through all of these crowds.
"Hot chocolate's the best." Though she was agreeing with him, Amory made it sound like she was daring him to refute her claim. She stood still once she had gotten her bark, the imp's huge plushie still claiming most of her carrying space.
Ellis shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. "I dunno." There was too much to see, even for someone with four pupils. He was overwhelmed.
They stood like that for a while, Amory piled with prizes and Ellis drinking his hot chocolate, until the smaller Nightmare felt something butt into his leg. A fennekit!
"Am'ry, Am'ry, look!" he said, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
It soon became very apparent that he should have stayed hidden. No toy cat and fetching plastic bracelet was worth this.
Attracted to his bright hair and unapologetically shiny clothes, a loud, toothy bird came in for a landing on Sidney's shoulder, pecking at his head quite insistently.
"Hey! Get off!" he shouted, waving his arms wildly.
Things seemed to be going pretty well today--lots of prizes all around. Next to be scored was a pretty snowglobe someone handed Oriset. It was of the front building of the Academy--cute! She rather liked it. As a souvenir of her new home, she planned to put it on her nightstand tonight.
The sock puppet table wasn't as full as Quilo expected--he'd expected it to be so full he couldn't get a seat--but there was space enough for Quilo and Ella. Quilo sat at the table and picked out a sock and some buttons, happily putting them together. Something soft hit him in the back of his head. He looked around to see what it was and saw a plushie lying on the floor with a pair of antlers on its head. He frowned, but picked it up, examining it. It looked none the worse for wear. He smiled, brushed it off, and put it in his stocking for later.

Vederat's next stop was a darts game. He didn't have a lot of confidence for this one--after all, he was awfully short for this sort of thing! But it looked like someone had thought ahead to put a step stool so that freshlings could easily get their arms over the counter to throw. Vederat took three darts and threw them. The first one went too far to one side--drat! But the second and third ones, which he aimed more carefully, hit their targets. A pair of balloons popped, resulting in cards being ejected from within. The vendor smiled at Vederat. "You get one stuffed animal of your choice and a bracelet! Congratulations!"
Vederat picked a purple cat and a green and red bracelet. They were very pretty!
Perigor blinked as he accepted a mug of hot cocoa. "Wait, really? You can cook? Since when, Prometheus?" Cooking wasn't really Peri's thing, but it was a useful thing--something that someone could be admired for knowing. Cooking was fricking cool. You could make stuff! Stuff that you could eat! That was sweet. He couldn't wait to learn. The last time he'd come close to cooking was a get-together where the freshlings and their caretakers made cookies. Peri had burnt himself in that adventure. Not fun. Especially since it had taken so fricking long to figure out that he'd been burnt. No. Definitely something to avoid in the future.
He watched Prometheus's face. Was the Litch boy actually...smiling? Was that a smile? Peri liked the way it made Prometheus's face look. It made him look...happy. And nice. And...like a friend. He wondered how he could make that smile appear more often.
Histeol nodded. "I'll ask my mom as soon as I get home. She'll probably say yes--she lets Cal's best friend Eidil sleep over all the time. If Eidil can sleep over, then I'm pretty sure all of you can sleep over. My mom's sort a 'the more the merrier' type." He left out that his mother tended to be...obsessively motherly. Gave people a lot to eat, insisted on giving them more. That could be overly oppressive for some people--Promme especially, he was sure. "One thing I do have to warn you about is that my mom raises Fennekits, and sometimes during the winter she brings some of them into the main house. So it can get a little...noisy. But they're not allowed upstairs, so we can take shelter there." Teo accepted a candy cane bundle and followed his friends into the next house. There was nice music here, and the air smelled like spices. He thought heard the sound of baking--spatulas scraping on cookie pans, the sound of cookies on racks, oven doors opening and closing. Awww.
Wait...Prometheus had...? Ooooooh! Ustule grabbed her friend by the shoulders, her claws digging into Prometheus's sweater. "You heve...Borean recipes?" She couldn't keep the longing out of her voice. The endless yearning. The pain of her loss started to swell inside her, choking her. Her nose hurt. Her vision was getting blurry. There was a pounding sound in her ears. "You heve...I don't know eny of them! I've forgotten them all, I didn't..." She took a deep breath and released his shoulders. She had...she could have hurt him. She was...oh, Nine. "I'm sorry," she murmured. "I just..." She sighed and scrubbed her eyes with her sleeve.
Teo settled his hand on Ustule's shoulder. "You miss home," he murmured. "There's nothing like food to bring you home."
Ustule nodded weakly. "Yes...there ees nothing..."
Perigor took a stuffed animal from one of the attendants who was watching them and a snowglobe, putting them gently into Ustule's hands. Too late he realized that the snowglobe showed the school itself on it... "Nothing except maybe friends?" he said. "I don't know much about Boreas, but we can help you out, Ustule. If there's anything we can do to help you feel at home, then let us know, okay?"
In reply to this post, two pages after this one. Batholith frowned and inspected the psycho chicken. What could be used to distract it? Besides the obvious answer, which was Batholith's hair. He'd do a lot for a friend in need. But not that much. "What we should probably do is take it back to your dorm room as soon as possible. Either that or a muzzle. A very tiny muzzle." What could they use?
Batholith stepped in to throw the rings. He was nervous now--the pressure was on. He carefully tossed one, and then another. The second one was close, but the first one--and the third one--were not. Nowhere even close. He groaned in frustration. "You are in big trouble, little chicken."

Kunibert now had his arms full of three potted plants, and yet, he still felt like it was not enough. Not nearly enough. He looked around the room, seeking out brightly colored wings and gently fluttering antennae. Damn. No luck so far. He looked around for something else to do and spotted a ring toss game. Meh. Better than nothing. He picked up the hoops and started gently flinging them. He actually did really well--well enough to earn a plushie. But he waved it away. "No sanks," he said. "I vould razzer get a potted plant, if you have more of zose." The game mistress nodded and handed him another plant. He smiled. "Sank you," he said, and walked off to the next thing.
It was a while before Zalir returned to the festival. Zey wanted to get all of zeir things settled first--especially zeir new aetherjelly. Zey would have to find a name for this one later, but for now zey wanted to win a few more prizes. Maybe get some candy. That sounded good to zem. So with the plushies and the books put away, and the new jelly gently drifting through the tank to meet their new tankmates, Zalir walked back down to the festival with zeir new stocking.
People were handing out a lot of gifts by this point. Zalir wasn't sure why, but neither were zey going to complain when someone handed zem a pair of beautiful copper bell earrings. They muttered a hushed "Thank you!" and clipped them onto zeir ears. They made a pleasing sound.
Xenophon blinked. "You can practice being good at remembering people? How?" It wasn't like memory was a game or a musical instrument that you could be good at by practicing... He took the mug of cocoa and the candy cane, dipping the candy cane into his cocoa. That would give it a minty flavor, right? All the while, the Kidden refused to leave him alone, brushing up against him and generally being very friendly.
Xeno reached down one hand to scratch its ears. That's what you did with a goat, right? Well, the Kidden seemed to like it. He smiled at it, then looked back up at Corben. "I thought you wouldn't like Kiddens. They eat plants--doesn't that bother you?" Someone passed him a bundle of candy canes, one of which he offered to Corben in return for the other candy cane.
Okay, so they knew each other from a chance encounter. That all checked out. "I met Dad--Jurvik--last year when he started volunteering at the orphanage I lived at. He taught us music and stuff. It...was a while before we became friends. I didn't, um, I didn't trust him at first." He blushed and looked over at his Kidden. He needed to name it. Wait, was it a them, a she, or a he? And how could he tell?

Something yipped at Wyrdda. She looked around to identify the sound, only to hear it again. This time it was accompanied by something putting its paws against her leg. She looked down to see a crimson Fennekit. She reached down a little and scratched its ears with her claws. It nuzzled her hand and yipped again, twice. Wyrdda smiled. It looked like she'd made a new friend!

It seemed that Ganymede was alright after all. Good. He didn't want to think of his nemesis as someone with feelings to hurt. That was...a bad way to put it...but honest. He nodded and pulled the candy cane away from his new pet, who squeaked in protest. "No more for you. I don't want you vomiting everywhere." He looked up at Alioth and smiled. "Thank you, Alioth. He is a very gorgeous little boy." It was true the little critter wasn't his usual favorite color, but...he was lovely nonetheless. Nice delicate colors mixed with the brilliant passion of the scarlet.
Anchriesel turned back to Ganymede to listen to him. He nodded gently and murmured back in Ganymede's ear, "They seem to be having more fun showing off than they're having hanging out with us." Gany's way of putting it was....blunt, but sort of accurate. They were moving far faster than he and Gany wanted to move, and that wasn't just in terms of flitting from game to game. "I agree with Ganymede. Maybe we can meet again later sometime." Something struck Anchriesel in the back of the head--a stuffed cat with a necklace around it. He stuffed both into his bag and turned Gany towards the matching game. "Let's get out of the rain," he said. "It's a little dangerous out here in the open." The Flitterrat on his shoulder squeaked in agreement.
Eilwen took the plant carefully into one of her free hands. At this rate they'd probably have to head back to their dorms again. She knew Gaius liked plants a lot, but she didn't quite realize that he liked them to this extent. He'd probably go home with all of them if he could manage it! Still, she wasn't bothered at all by her offer to help lighten his load.
"The really do! It's a lot of fun." She hadn't really known what to expect for this sort of event honestly. This was her first Solstice that she wasn't celebrating with her family for a change. As they continued to wander around she found a little booth with Snowglobes, she was instantly attracted to the one with the little Asphodel Gardens Academy in it. "Look at this, it's out school!" She held the little snowglobe between them so that Gaius could get a good look at it as well.

Piper stopped in her tracks as Arya pointed out the bugs of hot chocolate. Oh my, those looks delicious and she was pretty thirsty. It would be alright to take a little break and drink some cocoa. She picked one of the more festive colored cups and sipped at the Cocoa cheerfully.
"Mmm, this is some really good stuff." Her tail was wagging behind her as she found a little table to sit at and enjoy the cocoa. "What house are you in Arya? I'm in Enoch!" This whole time they'd been running around she hadn't even thought to get to know the Chimera better!
"Ahaha, sorry! Didn't mean to push you two into anything you'd be uncomfortable with. Have fun you two~!" He supposed not everyone could handle the level of affection Alioth and him had achieved. He might have felt a little bad about it. But his goal had been to bring Chries and Gany a little bit closer together, after all Gany talked about him quite a lot when they were in the dorm together. He had also wanted to spend some time with his roommate as well...
Ah well, as the other two left he waved goodbye and then snuggled even closer into Alioth. With those two gone there was no need to sensor his affection at all. "Ah, it wasn't that bad. At least I wasn't drinking my cocoa!" He put on a cheerful smile for his boyfriend and didn't even notice some slip more candy into his stocking.
