"Oh really, you couldn't figure that out? You think I would deal with you if I still hated you." Riko said rolling her eyes clearly thinking that this topic was one that she shouldn't even have to bother explaining. "I can go back to hating you if you want though..."

Mercy rolled her eyes, but she continued to grin at Riko smugly. "That's not what I said. I'm not surprised you don't hate me, just that you willingly admitted to it," she corrected the vampire. Riko was just reaffirming Mercy's belief that vampires were inherently bad listeners. With the food finished, she plated it and set it on the table just as the sisters came in. Then they all sat down to eat.

"I have never had an issue with speaking the truth." Riko said rolling her eyes. "I think you know that better than anyone." Riko sighed. But she let it drop as the other filtered into the room, she leaned back into her seat and watched as Mercy set the plate for everyone, she of course decided to pass on the food, but she could keep herself busy feeding Elle, so there was that alone to keep her around for a little bit.

The lunch conversation wasn't tremendously interesting to Mercy. It was agreed upon that Mercy would try to reach out to the other werewolf packs, attempt to persuade them to turn against Shiva. But Mercy had been skeptical. Her past interactions with Shiva and the previous alpha weren't a secret among the surrounding tribes. They knew what she had done, and what they thought of her as a result of that knowledge was still a mystery.

When night time came, Mercy was kept awake by these concerns. She ran through what she would say in her head, the evidence she would offer as support for her proposition. Her body, tired from the events of the past week, allowed her to remain alert, but drowsy. So when Mercy heard a noise near her door, she shifted her focus to it, stared, waited, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth investigating. And then she felt something cover her mouth, and she struggled, clawed at her attackers--because, she realized with panic as she tested her limited mobility--there was definitely more than one. Her body was beginning to shut down, to black out, and she fought consciousness, fought the creatures holding her down, their faces growing familiar as her eyes adjusted to the light. With better visibility, she scratched the closest person's face, and wiggled out of his grasp just long enough to make it to the door, yell a half-baked threat... and fall to the ground, unconscious.

She and any others captured would wake up in cement cells, one to a room, with crudely-fashioned bars serving as one of the four walls. They wouldn't be able to see each other from their rooms, but they would be able to hear each other. Mercy, head throbbing, would groggily push herself up from the floor and sit against the cold, gray wall. Rubbing her eyes, she would swear loudly and without restraint as she realized where she was.

"So you are awake finally?' Riko asked a bit sarcastically from her spot sitting near the door of her cell. She had to yell a bit to be heard as clearly as Mercy had been heard during her cursing. She had a feeling the wolf she smelled near her had been Mercy but there was no way to tell for sure when she couldn't see her. She also had a feeling that Delorna and Siobahn were nearby, but she wasn't exactly sure how close they actually were.

"Welp, you were right about one thing Mercy, they definitely did come to us. Heard them talking something about a trial. Just what I need on top of all of this other bullshit. Politics." Riko sighed loudly. Before grinning. Coughing roughly.

Mercy jumped to her feet and gripped the bars of her cell, half because she needed to to remain upright, and half because she was looking for Shiva's neck to strangle. No Shiva in sight, though. Just wall. No doubt Shiva was with Elle, wherever they had taken her--assuming that they had taken her. This thought only made Mercy angrier. She knew they weren't going to hurt Elle, but knowing they had their grimy paws on her pissed her off to no end.

Mercy's fingers squeezed and unsqueezed the bars, her body aching to rip them to shreds and break out of this dump. But nothing could be done. <********> She rested her forehead against the bars and shook her head. A trial. They were going to be put on trial. Riko apparently thought it was funny, but Mercy wasn't so amused. It was weird, though. Why hadn't they just killed Riko? Were Siobahn and Delorna here, too? Were all of them going to be put on trial? It didn't make much sense to Mercy. Hearing the coughing, Mercy asked half-heartedly, "Did they hurt you? What happened?"

"Hurt?" That was putting it mildly. They had did a lot of things with Riko while the others had been put to sleep, a lot of things she didn't care into go detail about. They had spent a long time trying to humiliate her in front of everyone, but had given up on trying to break her mentally when she hadn't so much as flinched when they started cutting holes in her clothes. So instead they went with plan A and kicked the s**t out of her. They then stripped her naked and hung her from the ceiling by chains and kept her blindfolded. For how long? She didn't exactly know, she had honestly been expecting someone to sneak and take it a step farther, but it seemed these wolves had some honor.

Now here she was in this cell, the blind fold still on, but she couldn't do much about it, her arms were chained behind her back, and she had this collar on, part of the humiliation. Though it was laced with silver, sapping her strength. "Something like that." She coughed another chuckle.

"Guess this is your second strike with Claire huh?"

Mercy frowned. She didn't know what something like that meant, but she was choosing to believe it wasn't as bad as she was imagining. Then again, Riko was a vampire, and that alone was reason enough for Shiva and the pack to hate her. But she was also a vampire that had crossed paths with Shiva several times now. Something like that was, without a doubt, something horrific.

Whatever afflictions Riko was suffering from, she apparently still had enough strength to continue joking. Claire. Mercy hadn't thought of her once since waking up. Even now that she was brought to mind, Mercy couldn't make herself worry about the girl or their relationship. "Yep," she replied distractedly as she looked for a way out. She felt along the walls, tested different bars, trying to see if anything would come loose, if anything was concealing something useful. "Guess she's all yours, if you want her." When Riko coughed, Mercy heard the faintest jingle, like chains. It looked like Mercy was going to have to be the hero in this adventure. If they take us to trial, we're dead...

"Nah, I don't think I'll be able to take you up on that chance." Riko said with a sigh, she didn't really think she had much of a future to plan for at the moment. She was pretty damn sure that she was going to be dead within the next few hours. She'd be surprised if she lived to see tomorrow. "If you don't mind. I'm feeling a little tired all of the sudden. So I'm just going to close my eyes for a little bit..."

Mercy nodded distractedly as she searched her pockets for something that might be useful. Of course, they had been emptied. "Okay, sure, rest up," she said. Hold up. Since when did Riko sleep? Did those assholes give her a head injury? If she had a head injury, could she die from it? Weren't you not supposed to sleep if you had a head injury? Even if Riko couldn't die, who knew when she would wake up--who knew who would wake her up. Suddenly more alert, Mercy yelled, "Waitwaitwaitwait!" She walked over to the bars and gripped them tightly as she tried--and failed, naturally--to see around them into Riko's cell. "Hey, bloodsucker, you can't fall asleep on me! You need to help me find a way out of this. Don't skimp out on me like the night we ********> Maybe that would rile her up a little.

"So annoying." Riko groaned to herself, the silver was sapping her energy, she really wasn't feeling up to whatever it was that Mercy wanted her to do, but she didn't want to fall asleep and wake up right before her death.

She didn't want to die period, so she tried to fight the exhaustion that was creeping up on her. "Ok, I'm awake. but I don't see how it matters. I don't have a plan. I can't even ******** see. And you just woke up. I doubt you've had time to think about much of anything." Riko mumbled to herself.

"And I didn't leave you hanging, I left you unconscious."

"Not because of anything you did," Mercy jabbed, though she was distracted again by her exploration of her cell. Frowning, she asked, "What do you mean, you can't see? Did they blindfold you?" Jesus, they really wanted to make a point with Riko, didn't they. Or maybe they were afraid of her. But here Mercy was, unchained and completely able to see, apparently not as much of a threat as her vampire companion. She joked humorlessly, "I'm almost a little offended that you're getting all of the attention, Riko." Almost.

"Have you heard anything useful?" she asked. The door to the cell hall was probably pretty heavily guarded. And where were Siobahn and Delorna? Not in here, from what Mercy could tell. They were being kept somewhere else, then. Maybe Riko had gotten some idea of the layout of the place, of the people holding them hostage. If Mercy knew the werewolves guarding them from her previous experiences with the pack, she might have an advantage.

"Yep, Chained, Blindfolded, and they put this nice little mutt collar on me. I feel real special right about now. You should be very jealous." Riko quipped, leaning heavily against the wall and sighing again.

"I've heard footsteps, voices, and some barking and growling. Doesn't seem that this little gathering wolves isn't exactly on the most comfortable terms." Riko replied. "But that's to be expected right? Bunch of bitches in one room, of course its going to get snarly." Riko joked, but she didn't have much heart to laugh now.

"I'm more concerned, that I've not heard Elle make a sound, I don't know where they are keeping her, and also Delorna and Siobahn are still out. I think that's them in the cells near us. I can smell them."

Well, Riko was useless. Mostly. It was worth remembering, though, that there was tension among the wolves, perhaps even within Shiva's own pack. Riko had also smelled Siobahn and Delorna nearby, which was good news. Probably. She was about to respond, to say that she wouldn't be surprised if Elle wasn't in the same building, when the door opened.

In walked Shiva, looking smug as ever, despite the gauze bandages wrapped several times around her eyes. She grinned and slowed as she passed Riko's cell, as if marveling in her pack's accomplishment, but stopped when she reached Mercy's. The two other werewolves following her, one familiar, the other not, halted behind her. Mercy turned slowly to face them.

"This is it, Mercy," she said, smiling almost peacefully, with just a twinge of triumph at the corners of her mouth. "You've evaded us long enough, but not this time. Why not spend the last few hours before your hearing in peace? In repentence?" Mercy made a crinkle-nosed face of disgust, which caused Shiva to sigh and shake her head. "All these years, and still no remorse."

"Yep. I sleep like a baby," she replied quickly with a shrug. "Speaking of..."

Shiva sensed Mercy was trying to change the topic to the infant, but she wasn't going to play along. "You're being accused of at least three counts of murder, Mercy--and within your own pack. And Leigh's death--"

"--is the one I regret least," Mercy interrupted. "She would have killed hundreds, maybe thousands, of innocent people if I hadn't killed her first."

Shiva's lips spread into a thin, firm line. "It was for the good of the pack, for the good of our kind."

                                                                "Was it?" Mercy asked skeptically.

"The human race--no, all other races--have oppressed us for too long. Leigh had a vision of power, of bringing strength back to the werewolf packs."

"So run for president or something. She didn't need to ******** murder everyone. We already had enough blood on our hands, from our own people, no less..."

Shiva snarled, drawing closer to the bars. "Leigh was a brilliant leader who knew when it was time to be fair and when it was time to make difficult decisions," she said coolly. "She was a strong, wise, and just alpha."

"No, she wasn't. And neither are you." That accusation earned Mercy a bigger reaction than she could have predicted. Shiva didn't say anything, didn't lunge at Mercy, didn't anything obvious. But the change in her expression was enough. Shiva wasn't just angry with Mercy; she was insecure, and Mercy and hit her where it hurts. Curious, Mercy watched Shiva silently for a few minutes before smirking at the significance of this discovery. "Oh, Shiva. You crazy b***h," Mercy clucked. "This isn't even about the baby anymore, is it. Maybe it was before, but it isn't now. Your pack's turning on you. You've got to prove yourself."

Shiva gritted her teeth, then barked over Mercy's snickering, "I think you need to be prepped for trial." She signaled with her head, and the other werewolves opened and entered the cell to handcuff Mercy. They escorted her down the hall, and Mercy caught a glimpse of Riko as she was dragged out. In the blink of an eye, her expression went from vaguely amused, to seriously concerned.

Whatever Mercy had imagined Riko looked like, the reality was far worse. Riko looked bruised and broken, unclothed and tired. "What the ******** did you do to her?" she snapped, looking between the werewolves walking with her, then back at Shiva.

An hour later, Mercy returned to her cell with the understanding that "prepping for trial" really meant "throwing you around." They threw her into her prison, and she rolled across the floor, blood dripping from her mouth and various other places on her body. She wasn't in as bad of a state as Riko, but it was fair to say she now knew what punching bags felt like. She groaned, both for show and because everything ******** hurt, as her captors exited the room. Once she heard the door shut behind them, she stopped complaining, reached carefully into her mouth, and pulled out two bobby pins. (Getting the keys had been her real goal, for obvious reasons, but it was harder to get to than the girl with her hair pinned back.)

She sat up slowly, trying not to overwork her body until she needed to, and crawled over to the door. After bending the pins to create a lever and a pick, she got to work on her lock. s**t, this was harder than she remembered. The angle wasn't helping. Seven minutes of swearing and tired arms later, Mercy managed to unlock her cell. She quitely walked over to Riko's cell to open hers. "Riko?" she half-whispered, "You still awake?"

"Something like that." Riko responded from her place on the floor. She didn't really feel like moving now after she had just been through round two of the Riko experience, complete with steel toed boots. Honestly, she felt she was a sidewalk in Harlem for the amount of timberland boots she had shoved up her damn a**.

"If the sounds of those pins wasn't magic to my ears, I swear I'd try and kick your a** for somehow managing to talk your way into getting both of our asses kicked." Riko sighed as she stayed prone on the ground still, "Though I will ask that you hurry up thanks. I want to finish ripping that over sized raw biscuit eating bitches eyes out for blindfolding."
