"Lil?" She thought about it for a while. "Lil is fine. Or Lillian. I'm not one to have nicknames, but I would not turn one down if it was appropriate." She fidgeted a bit, uncomfortable. "I will admit I miss my books... and roof. I'm from Wall Maria, I live inside the the watch store with my brother and father." She watched him tie up the ropes, slowly cursing to herself. Her father and brother would be laughing if they were here. Then again, her father always did tell her she needed to talk to people more.. she was hating that it seemed he was right. She didn't quite know what to do with herself, having to be paired off with a stranger.
She caught the rope, and proceeded to tie it off to the branch as securely as she could. At least she knew how to do that. As he tested the rope her face reddened a bit. "I. Well. My eyes?" She twitched. "I.. got them from an accident when I was younger." She eyed him, and the tarp, trying to stay focused. "Most people just stare at them, but I've grown accustomed to it."

Ervette had to admit, this was stress relieving in the fact it was a bit of fun when the trainees winded up with silly structures. This next one was so-so, and would likely suffer from the effects of rain, toeing it with her boot revealed it was fairly sturdy. As soon as she got the word that another of her trainee pairs were ready for the bucket of water treatment she was quick to descend upon them. She waited until both were settled in the shelter before dumping the bucket over them. She watched with a certain amount of joy as it rolled down the tarp and poured onto them. She snorted as it did so, as if her water pouring knew how to seek out unsuspecting trainees. That was another two jackets of the six she'd made people have to hang.
"Ahh, looks like its not so sturdy over here, next time make sure you spread it out a bit more, its angled so it lets water roll and pool." She showed them how to tweak it a bit before nodding with some amount of satisfaction. "The sturdiness holds up, anyway when you two are ready go ahead and try your hand at practicing first aid if you'd like." Ervette chuckled before taking up her bucket and moving away from them.

Preacher's mouth dropped open in utter shock. Axel rejected Harper for her? Sure. He was awful, awful, terrible, and clearly only interested in getting physical easily. She snapped her mouth shut, teeth clicking against each other. A hundred urges surged through her: to hit him, bite him, ask him why, turn her head just enough that... Suddenly, cold water streamed down from the tent, soaking her thigh. With a yelp, she jerked to the side, colliding with Axel.
"Well, s**t. Thought I'da done a better job," she said to Everette, shooting the instructor a crooked grin. And if that grin was a little strained, well, it wasn't her fault. As Everette departed, Preacher stayed in the tent for a few seconds, face screwed up in thought before popping up and scrambling out of it. With a strange cry, she fell forward, ankle deliberately twisting funnily beneath her. Spraing ankle, right? She hoped acting as though it were real would startle Axel. It was a petty move, but Preacher was limited in what she could do to irritate him without getting them kicked out.

The expected punch never came, but a good deal of cold water did. Most of it wound up in his hair and sprinkled across his shoulders. Axel shook his head, wiping the water out of his eyes. It wasn't a pleasant feeling, but at least they hadn't been soaked. Axel had heard a few shouts of dismay as unfortunate trainees were splashed with water. "Next time we'll do better," Axel said, addressing Ervette before the instructor moved off to help the other pairs. Happily, she wasn't making them rebuild the tent. On to first aid!
Axel turned to Preacher, to ask her if she wanted to be the injured person, when the dark-haired girl hopped up and clambered over him and out of the tent. As soon as she was out she toppled over with a cry of pain. Startled, Axel hurried out of the tent after her, knocking one of the supporting sticks over in his haste. The tent collapsed behind him.
"Preacher, are you okay?"Axel asked, kneeling beside the girl and looking down at her ankle. His sister sprained her ankle more than once as a kid, and Axel was familiar with the way sprained joints swelled and stiffened almost immediately. Neither of Preacher's ankles were obviously swollen, nor did she seem to be in distress.
Wait.
Wait.
Wait just a minute.
She was funning him.
"Oh, Preacher," Axel said, covering his face in his bandaged hand dramatically. "It's my fault. It's my fault for building a shitty tent."
He fell forward onto her and clutched at her shirt with a tearless sob. It was a damp sob despite the lack of tears, thanks to the water still in his hair. "Forgive me!"
Lenore picked up the book of first aid basics before Zin began to "react" about her "injury". Staring blankly at the other girl for a moment, she turned her attention to the book. Fractures, broken bones, bleeding wounds, bloody nose... ah, here we go - sprains. Reading over the passage quickly, she turned her attention back to the giggling Zin. "It says we should wrap the sprained area tightly."
Setting the book down, she rummaged through the box for gauze. Finding it, she went over to her friend, who was still giggling, and gingerly wrapped the girl's wrist as tightly as she could.

"Oh, I feel much better now," Zin said, sitting up to examine her bound wrist. "You did a good job," she said, trying to bend her wrist and finding it tightly secured. "Have you done first-aid before?" As was her habit, she continued to speak without an answer, "Oh! Now it's my turn! Fake your injury!" She rummaged through the box for more gauze while attempting to watch Lenore at the same time.

Oh! How had she gotten so lucky? To have accidentally picked out the person she was going to be partnered with? A shy smile rose to her face as she held her hand out to shake Hilda’s. But they didn’t exactly shake…Rennati wasn’t one to make fun of people but when Hilda switched from a shake to a fist bump and she hadn’t noticed in time, Ren found it hard to repress the smile that forced itself upon her when her fingers bumped Hilda’s hand. This is going to be fun! She thought to herself.
At least the first interactions had gone well. And on the bright side, she hadn’t tripped and fallen and made a fool of herself…yet. As she had finally met up with her partner, the two started towards the trees. Rennati was glad that Hilda knew what she was doing even when her instructions were a little confusing. In any case, she marched on after her looking at the trees as well. A lot of them were bigger than they really needed, or had branches that were too high up or too flimsy. It took them a little bit of walking but then Hilda stopped in front of a decent sized tree that would probably work when the other started asking her where she was from. ”I’m from Karanese. My Father is a carpenter so he liked being next to all the big trees. And yourself?” Taking a moment to walk around the tree, she tried to figure out exactly what Hilda had explained that she wanted to do. ”So do you want to put the tarp on one of these branches and then tie it down? Or tie our rope between two trees and throw the tarp over it and then weigh the edges down with stones or something?” She asked curiously. Having found what she hoped was the location they would set up their shelter, Rennati put the rest of her things on the ground. When she looked around, she noticed that a lot of the other pairs had already finished the shelter portion of the exercise, some successfully and others not so much. She hoped she and Hilda would be in the former portion of those two sides but she supposed they would just have to wait and see.

Lenore shook her head at Zin's question, but it seemed the girl had already moved on. At the command to fake an injury, Lenore suddenly felt really sheepish. Was she really supposed to act like her partner had just a moment ago? No matter how she looked at it, that was impossible. A bead of sweat traveled down her forehead. "Uh- uhm... Ow. My wrist. It hurts. Woe is me." She said the words as dramatically as she could muster, which wasn't very much at all, as she clutched at her "injured" wrist, blushing furiously.

Zinnia held back a laugh at her friend's flustered expression, instead calling upon her inner actress. "Don't move!" she cried, seizing the gauze. "I'll save you!" She quickly bound Lenore's wrist as the younger girl had done moments before. "I think you're going to make it," Zin announced solemnly.

You got all 800 words? :3
"Uh. Ah, thank you. Zin." Lenore stammered quietly, still horribly embarrassed. She tried to move her wrist but found herself unable to. "You did a good job, too."

Ervette noticed some trainees hadn't jumped into the action. Walking around to her assigned groups the woman looked thoughtful, pursing her lips slightly. "Say, since neither of these are two bad why don't I have a couple teams collapse and join up." She smiled thoughtfully, pointing out Mykanos, Mehtab, Rose, and Hazel alike.
"Youre issues are kinda simple...well in terms of simulation anyway. I didn't bring a mountain of gauze apparently like I thought I did, so pairing up gives you guys a little more resources before the goods are all gone." She chuckled. Really, Ervette could have ran back to camp, but who then would soak unsuspecting trainees?

Farvardin helped when Shun gave a yank on the branch. It broke off with a satisfying snap and dropped down. "Whoo! This branch is perfect! We can cut off the smaller branches... or... try to... break them..." She grunted snapping off one of the smaller branches, "And use them too. They seem pretty sturdy."
She dragged the bigger branch over to the other sticks they had found and began breaking off branches. "Now we just need a good tree to lean it against. We can probably cut some of the rope off to tie the main branch to the tree and then drape the tarp over the lean-to. Tie the top of the tarp up to make the water run down it and anchor the bottom with small sticks from this branch."
It wasn't long until she had broken off all the smaller branches from the big branch. There were still a few left on it but they would have to be cut off or Shun would have to try breaking them off. "Alright partner I got off the ones I could get. If you could try to break off the rest that would be great... or use your knife if you don't mind. Hm.... what do you think of that tree?" She asked after looking around. She spotted a bigger tree that could possibly work for what they were going for.

The young woman looked at her newly formed group. Three guys. One of them should know how to construct this shelter and then they can continue on to her specialty. She had been watching the others build their shelter out of the tarp and rope and it seemed easy enough, although she was sure there were a few who did not pass the bucket test. Hazel did not want to speak up and broach the subject; already she had left her comfort zone by confronting Rose and asking him if he knew how to build a sturdy waterproof shelter. She shifted uncomfortably from right leg to left leg; her gaze looking somewhere off in the distance.
C’mon Hazel, where is your confidence? Where is your voice? Tell these boys what they should do. C’mon! Just imagine you are with an injured patient, you are always so confident then. Her internal dialog continued, but it did not help boost her confidence, instead it seemed to make herself worth sink even lower in her mind’s eye. You are truly pathetic. That thought sparked some reaction out of her, she was no longer the pathetic weakling she was while she lived under her mother and the Monster’s roof. She had grown since then; she had learned how to fight and how to ride a horse. She was a different Hazel Snow than she was a few months ago.
“Um, so do a-any of you k-know h-how to build a w-water proof shelter?” Her words were mumbled and quiet, but at least she had spoken them out loud. Why could they not do first aid first? She was sure she could treat a concussion and/or something in the eye. Although she did not really come across those types of injuries while she was with the doctor, it would be interesting to see how they were to be treated. After this I really must find the medical facilities here and ask if I can shadow one of the doctors. There is so much I still do not know! The thought filled her with delight and distracted her from the embarrassment of having to ask for help with building a simple shelter.
Remembering her manners she quickly introduced herself, “Oh yeah, uhhh… I’m Hazel.” She hoped that knowing the names of each of the young men would make it less awkward, but she was not sure that was entirely possible (for her anyways).

Shun nodded lightly at that. He helped break off a few of the smaller bits that were left behind. One of the pieces was being a bit stubborn though. With a sigh, he pulled the knife out and went on to cut it away. It took a bit of time, but he eventually managed to get it.
"There..." he uttered before tossing the sticks in with the rest of what they had. He turned towards the tree Farvardin pointed out, then gave a sort of shrug.
"Sure. You seem to have a better idea about all of this anyway," he stated. With that said, he picked up the pieces of wood that were strewn about, then made his way to the tree.

Farvardin gathered up the tarp, rope, and bedroll while Shun took care of the main branch. She placed those by the tree they would be working with and went back for the rest of the sticks and small branches. "You've never been out in the woods camping before?" She asked when he said that she had a better idea about this stuff than him.
With the rest of the wood by the tree Farvardin began to mentally note how everything should be placed. "Okay...." She murmured to herself as she grabbed the big branch and held it up to the tree, "This should be high enough for us to at least sit under it while it's tested." She held up the branch to the tree measuring it for the height. Once she was satisfied she looked at Shun.
"If you would get the rope, you can tie one end here and then loop it around the tree. Make the loop tight and then cut off the right amount so you can tie the other end." She said pointing to one side of the stick and then the other spot, "I'll hold it up and steady. After that we can put in the side of the lean-to which will help support the main stick and then we can put up the tarp with the rest of the rope."
