[ Bradley Fun Times in Sand: 13 + 19 = 32 EATEN ] [ Roll 3 / 5 ]
He was still some meters away from the top, but he figured he could make it with his trusty pole. It gave him leverage and clearly hit something under the sand that wasn't moving. Bradley looked around for another handhold, something, anything that wasn't teeth and potentially dangerous.
There was a snap and Bradley felt the pole bend in a way it shouldn't have beneath him.
[[ MINE! ]] Yzalin was panicked and would have tried to clutch him if she'd had arms or a body. No no non o not on her watch he wasn't dying this soon after she'd met him. Not again!
She didn't have arms though, she didn't have anything to grab him with and she watched through his eyes as the sand caught him and dragged him down... down... down...
Bradley did his best to miss the teeth. Wilson and Eva are going to kill me if I die now... he lamented as he came to the edge of the maw. He glanced back, hoping Nora would get out okay. The cutie was too cute to die here. He turned back to the maw in front of him.
Yzalin...
[[ I'm here. ]]
I'm sorry.
She made to retort, give some sort of witty comeback about surviving. She wanted to have it end on a happy note, for once, instead of a terrible, terrible one.
The maw swallowed him before she got the chance.Ol-j-man Mentioned and if Nora wants to her new acquaintance be eaten

There was no hesitation in Gale's eyes, only a fierce determination mingled with a terrible resignation. It was too late to save Ben, too late to save a lot of people, but he sure as hell wasn't going to at least try and save the girl he loved; and if that wasn't enough of a reason already, he was never going to let her face it alone.
Gale let go and leapt straight into the creature's maw after her.

Things were not going well. Cami was holding on with most of her strength but it was fading. Slowly. If someone did not get to her soon to assist things were going to end about as well for as they did for Peyton. Just thinking of the petite hunter with the pink-tipped hair made her heart ache, had her screaming again in horror and need. Falling into that dark dark hole was death and Peyton had fallen in. Fallen in trying to save her because she was a big ******** baby who was scared of everything.
Maybe she should just let go?

"CAMI! Hold on!!" He called down to her. "HOLD ON! I'll get you!!" He had no idea how he was going to accomplish that, no idea in the least but it didn't stop him from wanting to try. he watched someone else vanish into the hungry maw in his own slide and then slammed into something himself. He swore at the sudden pain of it, he'd torn open both his handsome new white coat and some of his side on a submerged tooth it seemed. The impact and his automatic lurch away from it sent him sliding further, sand really -sucked- in open wounds, but he skidded to a brief stop, fingers clutching into the sand, knuckles abraded and fingers raw. But… to be fair, he was right Beside Cami, or there about. Their situation was, to say the least, horrible, but he was pretty darn close to his target. So much for saving her though. "HI!…Fancy meeting you here. Think this sarlacc takes as long to digest as the one in the movies?" He was trying to joke but there was fear in his face. Distance: 28 HP: 35

While he was awake, he wasn't exactly in his right mind at the moment. But at the very least he was willing to listen to his weapon, and reaching out he grasped a long object that was stuck firmly in the sand.
"T-thank god." He whimpered under his breath, and pulled himself further away from the mouth.

Distance: 10 Okay, he wasn't out of danger yet but at least he was farther away from the star wars monster thing. As Jason looked for something else to drag him further away he couldn't help but look back at the monster with it's huge teeth and gaping hole of a mouth. As he watched he saw two hunters, one directly below him, just about to be swallowed up. And while he couldn't reach the other hunter, maybe.... Shrugging out of his hunter coat and summoning his sword, He then took off his scarf and tied one end tightly around a sleeve. He then shoved Zanthvos into the sand and, hooking one foot around the hilt he stretched out and threw his hunter coat down, holding onto one end of the scarf . "HEY!" He shouted as loud as he could. "OVER HERE! GRAB ONTO THE COAT, I'LL PULL YOU UP!"

[At the Sahara] Upon arriving through the portal, Hanna immediately found herself on her knees, breathing sand in the most uncomfortable way. She holstered Adelphe on her back and covered her mouth with her scarf, immediately wishing she wore goggles. She settled for slamming her eyes shut and groping blindly instead. Unfortunately, loose sand was not much to grip onto at all. "CAMI!" Hanna screamed, searching for the girl whom she had entered with. She could hear her screaming, and it curdled her blood. "HOLD ON!" Her hand flashed outward, but there was nothing to grab, just more sand, more sliding sand. If she had been able to see, Hanna would not have been comforted. Instead, she instinctively clung like a koala, squeezing until the nails on her right hand began to bleed. Her free hand wrenched the Lady free. The weapon bore hooked blades, which was useful for this moment. With a muffled slam, Hanna slammed Adelphe into the shifting sand as hard as she could, trying to make as much of the leverage as she could. Slipped 14 yards

The strangled cries of Cami ripped at Hanna. She had no reason to feel responsible for the girl, but as the oldest sister of three, she found herself perpetually trying to protect others. Even though it hurt, she whipped her head around and squinted toward the sound of the voice. The stain of Cami's red hair was visible, as was the moving hump of several other bodies.
"Please, don't--" She wanted to say a lot of things, but the violent whipping of wind made communication all but impossible. In the torrent, she couldn't see the teeth of the thing that awaited them. It was a cacophony of voices, each one more terrified than the last.
Worry about you. Two dead hunters is twice as useless as one dead hunter, Adelphe snapped.
Shut up, I'm serious -- SHUT UP. We are a ******** team, Adelphe, and you are a goddamn part of it.
A team in a graveyard is useless.
Hanna wasn't the only one worried about Cami, it seemed. She heard others call out to her. She thought, too, that she heard Shu's voice, but it was far off. Perhaps Hanna should have been hoping someone tried to save her, as opposed to the other way around. Oldest Child Syndrome. She was worried about Cami, the girl was flipped at the sight of the headless corpse.
Had she heard Peyton scream? Hanna couldn't be sure. It was all chaos. The only voice she was focused on was the one she had dragged to this place at the start. Cami had come here because of her, in some part, and she couldn't leave her stranded. "Cami, it's okay!" she shouted, muffled against her scarf.
Another wind buffeted against her, loosing the grip Adelphe had given her. Hanna tumbled head over heels for several feet. She stopped with a sudden thud and cried out. Her hand slipped out, reaching for what had stopped her.
It was a dead body. Impaled on a tooth. The same tooth that had cut a nasty gash on her inner thigh. It bled steadily, but not terrifyingly -- a flesh wound, for all intents and purposes. Hanna gripped the tooth for dear life and then lashed Adelphe into the sand again.
Enough worrying about Cami for right now... if she wasn't careful, she was about to disappear into the abyss.

Apparently morbid thoughts summoned a multitude of options for a person. First it was Peyton who had been lost trying to save her. Now it was Jasper who was laughing and smiling next to the redhead as if they weren't in mortal peril! Sand was gritting in her eyes making it impossible to see his fear, to do anything but reach out and try to grab at his coat. She was fairly sturdy, rather sunken in, and unlikely to fall unless she tried to move much. Hearing another voice calling her name was just too stressful. Lifting her head she cried out, as loud as she could. "Hanna NO! Try to get out! I'm too close to the edge you'll just get sucked in!" Like Peyton. Like Jasper was going to be if she couldn't reach him. Like she knew she was going to, eventually. Energy was flagging and Kidana couldn't hold on forever. They would be buried if not consumed. Turning back to Jasper she felt someone else reach out and pull him away, leaving her again alone and stranded. Alone? Alone! At the edge of darkness, with no one there to help her because she'd told them not to come. But this was good, wasn't it? He'd survive. Hanna had to survive too!

Her leg was bleeding, but sand was quickly collecting in her wound. That... couldn't be hygienic. She spent awhile considering whether it was better to cover the wound on her thigh, or her mouth. After a moment, she reached under her shirt, tearing free half of the dirty tank top she had layered under her t-shirt. One hand groped to wrap it around her thigh, but the job was sloppy. She could barely see; she just wanted to know that there was SOME kind of barrier between her bleeding leg and this terrain.
Somehow, Cami's voice reached her in the disarray. She told her to save herself. Save herself? Yes, that was important to Hanna. More important than was probably noble. "OKAY," she said, "BUT I WILL COME BACK!"
Hand over fist, Hanna used both the tooth/impaled body and her weapon, Adelphe, for leverage. Like a mountain climber, she pulled Adelphe from the sand and then drove her hooked point back in deep, slamming the weapon so hard that her biceps trembled. Little by little, Hanna managed to move herself 10 yards away from her previous position.
It offered her little more than a small degree of protection. For an instant, the sands churned in such a way that she was provided a glimpse of what waited for her -- a gaping maw cut into the ground, the cousin of Star Wars, a fate much more terrifying than having a headless body drop from the sky.

Come back? No. She couldn't come back! Panicked the redhead realized that as long as they knew she was standing at the edge of oblivion they would continually try to save her. A voice in her head that was not Kidana's told her that she needed to struggle against this, needed to beg them to come back and save her, but it was a part far removed from the numb-with-shock trainee that was standing at the edge of darkness alone. Maybe if Jasper had still been there she might have been able to hold on. Might have been able to wait.
Was that Peyton's voice, calling out to her?
Turning she released Kidana so that the bow was once again nothing more than a totem around her neck. Immediately she was thrown against one of the sharp teeth, crying out in pain as it tore a furrow through her leg. Overwhelming was the screaming voice of Kidana in her mind to summon her bow to fight but she couldn't. She just couldn't.
Without turning to look back Camille Ryland leapt into the darkness. She didn't know what was down there, and it was probably death, but damn it she was going to face it head on. If the darkness was going to finally kill her it would be with defiance burning in her heart.
Or maybe just a bit of insanity.

He took the offered coat in desperation, she had an odd sort of point, if he had a good leverage then he could reach back for her, a human ladder to make their way out of this hell hole of sand and teeth. "CAMI! I…" he started to call back to her, but when he looked, when he looked she was gone. His mouth felt so terribly dry at that moment and it had nothing at all to do with the sand, just the realization that the sweet girl with the pretty smile and the fear of the dark… was gone. He turned back to the hunter who'd helped him up and gave a shaky nod. He felt so…cold, and he on some level understood that it was shock. "Thanks." He said almost a whisper. There was no laughing now, no jokes. There was determination though, and with much pawing and hunting he found something under the surface to latch onto. // Failure...// Noni whispered quietly in the back of his head. //But.. batman had many losses before he became great didn't he// Shut up he thought back angrily. Just shut the ******** up.He was…out, by some god damned miracle he was out, but Cami, and the others… it just wasn't right, and it sure as hell wasn't fair. He turned back and tried to think of a way to help the hunter below him. "C'mon man! I found something to grab right in there! You can get out too!" @ 10 from poke -10 from roll = 0 HP:35

nora distance: 16 2/5
Shite, it was getting hard to keep herself above the sand. Nora struggled to keep ahold of her pole for dear life as Beatrix barked and yipped and otherwise enjoyed being a noisy worrier in her head. She remembered several of the other trainees from the tour--ah and look, at least one of them was still being upbeat about it--though as Nora watched, one of them got swallowed. Hell, the one who had started freaking out before with the corpse to boot. Still . . .
The guy had been pulled by someone else, but the girl was still out of reach . . . Damn. She frowned deeply. "Got a good hold?" she asked the one who was yanking the guy forward. She needed to see if she could make a difference out in the field; it was driving her nuts to be stuck in a current without anything to do except hold on.
"Couldn't help but overhear you three. Star Wars? Never got to watch, but if you blokes ever have a marathon, I want in," she told them quite casually, as if they weren't avoiding a man eating sand worm or sarlacc or whatever it was they called the beast.
"Keep your head up, missy," she half-encouraged, half-instructed the other girl, remembering she had introduced herself as Hannah before. "Not the pods, can't be sleeping. Remember those breastrokes." Don't let one potential death lead to another.
