[ With Omegas ] xxxx[MRD's. Of course it wouldn't be easy] xxxx[ and action!] xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Crossing paths with one of his former recruits surprised him to say the least, but there was absolutely no mistaking that mouth of hers. She teased him upon his greeting despite their circumstances. A lot of mutants were like that - humor served as a coping mechanism so they wouldn’t lose their grip on sanity with the things they were exposed to. “What’s to miss?” He asked, the way his grin formed over his lips left dimples in either cheek. “I mean, I certainly can’t miss language that would make my mama’s mouth drop in shock.” He drawled before sobering a bit. “When I got back to the academy I tried to check up on you - they said you’d left for vacation.” By the sounds of it, they had no expectation of her returning in the near future. But she would likely not be surprised that he’d asked about her - he tried to keep up on all of the people he brought to the Academy, some a little more than others.

Usually he would have tried harder to get into contact, but with the adjustment to the new base and it being an election year, he hadn’t the opportunity to press the issue once they moved. She mentioned showing him pictures later and he could not help but chuckle. “I will only request for you to share them if it won’t make me less of a gentleman to see them.” The twinkle in his eye insinuated enough on its own, but the way velvet seemed to twine with his words made it all the more clear what he was inferring.

I went back to a team - obviously. Less time on the road now. Minus familial commitments.” The cowboy intentionally kept his statements vague as he adhered a few more MRDs to the floor. Though, he doubted Alice would have any trouble keeping up with what he wanted her to infer. She’d known him long enough to know just why his family would keep him on a back and forth trek.

She asked what had happened to their old home and bitterness overtook his tone when he explained. He swallowed a lump of air instead of his thoughts about ‘people’ when she said she figured it had been their robotic nemeses. People were the reason there was a problem now; people had hunted those kids like they were animals that belonged in a cage.

Sadly though, the time was not ideal for this sort of conversation, and he returned his primary focus back to the chaos. Dutifully, he informed Narcissa of the tag-a-long to their team and started moving toward the sentinel once it crashed their party. “You actually arrived just in time for the show.” He said, trying to make it sound as though this were a treat instead of what it was - a nightmare. They ran toward the looming metallic body in unison and Alice made first contact with the machine once it fell to the floor.

Her control had come a long way since they had first met and the cowboy paid a compliment to her just before an arm swatted at the blond as though she were merely a fly. Alice sailed through the air until she received a crash landing into a column. Blake winced at the sound of her body hitting the floor. He called after her, yelling her codename across the cafeteria but with the sentinel still posing a threat, the molecular manipulator had no time to stare in that direction and look for any signs of life. Narcissa called out more orders - thankfully tending to making sure the newbie got out of the mall alive. “I appreciate you looking out for her.” He responded to the walking sun.

Aren too, answered via comm (his "Romeo" remark earning a roll of his eyes), bidding him to relax - he’d gotten Aftershock to safety. He heard a bit of Alice’s retort to the cowboys and indians remark in the background and the grin made it to his voice as he responded. “I think you need a history lesson, Tiny. In the end, cowboys won out over the red skins.” Blake relaxed a little with the conversation, knowing that his team mate would look after the human earthquake.

Ire replaced worry once he knew his old charge would be safe - at least from the hands of the MRD’s. Aren’s… however… He smirked at his wandering thoughts. The size-shifter was notoriously a flirt; she would have to hold her own or she’d be swimming in his charm like so many other women on campus. Though, he had no doubt a sparring match of wits would be little trouble. Even injured, Alice was a force to be reckoned with.

His orders were clear - and with his growing vexation it hadn’t been hard to convince him to follow Narcissa’s directions to the letter, though perhaps a bit too efficiently as the small woman had meant to help with her blasts of energy in his direction. He glanced back at the Omega queen, and wasn’t sure how to take what he saw. Narcissa spewed white heat toward one of the clothing stores, leaving destruction in its wake. “Are you more of an Abercrombie girl?” He asked jokingly through the comm piece, wondering if he was the only one who had caught their leader’s move. “Or were you a victim of their ill-sized shirts and now hate them forever?

Some of the other Omegas had yet to check in, and Narcissa kept busy with the people radioing back to her. After hearing Kerri say that she and her two would stay behind to round up the stragglers, Blake glanced over his shoulder to the team captain and made a motion with his head, hoping she would choose to follow him without it seeming like he was calling the shots. “Ready?” He asked, moving toward the rendezvous point as she’d instructed the team earlier. They all needed to be headed in that direction.

He kept the path clear, knocking back any officers that tried to rush him so that Narcissa would have minimal contact with attackers. Honestly, he wasn’t sure if he was doing it more for her benefit, or for them. The more people critically hurt or killed during today’s outing, the harder it would be for humans to accept mutants in the future; Narcissa’s power was lethal and there was no mistaking the damage she might unintentionally cause.

Fully believing that Narcissa was following in behind him, it didn’t take long for the Texan to meet up with the group. " He offered a shoulder for Alice to lean on as he came up from behind them and peered down at her, unconsciously frowning at how obviously injured she was. The blond lifted part of her shirt up and he sucked in a breath at how quickly her skin had changed colors. “We should get you to the medbay.” He observed gruffly. “But you will live.” He assured her, helping her hobble over to the portal.

Turning back around to say something to Narcissa, he paled a bit as it dawned on him that she wasn’t there.. “Solaris…” She’d not followed him. “She’s by herself in there.” He said in alarm before looking to the size shifter, wondering if he should make a call to send someone back in. “Solaris, where are you?” He asked through his comm unit.

Just as he asked though, Charlotte had indicated that there were six officers bounding toward them. Great. He grimaced; the last thing Alice needed right now was to be jostled about in yet another fight. He looked around the gathering, wondering just who should pass through first. Obviously Alice. His steps got a little more hurried, though he still took care to make sure his old friend could keep up.

Gambit’s on the other side of that portal with the kids we came here to rescue.” He told her. Already the officers were closing in - Charlotte made quick work of one and he breathed a little easier as Magda, Aren, Orchid and Roland sprung into their own skirmishes. “We need to get you to safety.” He insisted, gearing up to fight if anyone got through the line of Omegas. Alice likely wouldn’t appreciate the result if that happened - he’d push her out of the way before he let someone get their slimy hands on one of their injured.

Several of them took heavy hits, but all of their attackers were accounted for. Given that both Charlotte and Roland finished first, he linked his comms to theirs. “Can one of you escort Aftershock to the infirmary?” Being the most experienced team member in their area - he couldn’t leave them behind. “I’ll be sending the others through as soon as I know that this area is covered.

                                            OOC:

It was a little disappointing to say the least that the healer hadn’t thought of bottling up his blood for quick healing, but it was to be expected. Thomas didn’t go out into the field often. Only a handful of times total over the years. He was a doctor, not a field agent. It pained him to think that his presence was even required on these missions. If only the world was more peaceful. This world didn’t suit a man of Thomas’ principles too well, but doing this work, if it meant his friends came home safe, was a necessary evil.

As the group moved on the jeep, Thomas did his part to a guard stepping out, hitting him in the nose, and throwing him back to who he thought to be Macabre, but turned out to be Leo. As the others moved about dispatching the rest of them, Thomas waited until they were all disposed before bending down and checking each of their pulses to make sure none had been too wounded. He would’ve like to do more, but they were on a schedule and this was as much as he could justify doing. He told himself they would have medics on standby, and that was the only thing that kept him going at the sight of a burned guard.

The guards were loaded into the jeep with zip ties securing them, and then the group was on the move again. As they stopped Leo began giving out more orders. Looking at the map of the prison, Thomas listened closely, and accepted the keys offered. Leo attempted to make a joke, and Thomas tried his best to force a smile, but didn’t managed much more than a half smile, half grimace.

Looking to Lyn as the two of them were paired up, Thomas gave his best friendly smile. “Hello.” Leo warned them to never go off alone, and the healer nodded. That hadn’t been the plan in the first place. Thomas would feel too bad if he did, and then someone got hurt because of it. Lyn crept over to him not long after, speaking in a friendly manner. “Of course, and don’t worry, everything will go fine.” The healer spoke, possibly because the girl seemed a tad nervous, maybe. Possibly because that was just the type of person Thomas was. Probably a mixture.

Giving the redhead a friendly smile, Thomas turned back to the situation at hand as Leo made to have Tara bring down the walls. That was around the time when the Teleporter appeared with both Katerina and some newcomer they had apparently rescued. The newcomer asked a question immediately after arriving and Thomas turned his attention to the newcomer. Katerina next spoke in a low voice that Thomas could make out while Tara focused on bringing down the wall. What Thomas did hear was Katerina threatening the newcomer. Listening to the situation with a raised eyebrow, Thomas turned to survey the field and saw a forcefield of sorts covering the compound. Well that wasn’t good. Looks like this was all some kind of trap.

As the newcomer began ranting back, Thomas cleared his throat. “Arguing with each other is not going to help anyone. Let’s just focus on all getting out of here alive and then the rest can be sorted out.” He spoke to the two before turning to see the strain bringing down the wall was putting on Tara. She put on a brave face, but it wasn’t the first brave face that Thomas had seen. Not to mention the two had known each other for some time now.

In that stay she wasn’t going to be helping anyone. Pulling out a syringe, Thomas carefully injected it into his arm and withdrew blood. Moving over to Tara, Thomas cleared his throat. “Here, take this, and you’ll be fine.” The man spoke as he gently grasped her arm, cleaned the injection site, and injected the needle into it, before carefully injecting his blood. In the heat of battle he would have been much faster, but there was no need to rush it considering they probably would need to have a change of plans. After the blood was injected, Thomas removed the syringe and placed it back in the bag. Holding a small piece of cotton over the wound for a moment, after a short time he removed it and stepped back. It would take a few moments, but slowly she would start to feel rejuvenated. It was the least Thomas could do, Tara’s power was a lot more useful on a field of battle such as this, than his own.

“Try to be more careful Landslide.” Thomas spoke towards the woman before returning his gaze to the field. Hopefully Bella and the others were okay. Thomas might have made an inquiry, if he weren’t worried he might distract her and get her injured. Why did things have to be so dangerous all the time?

(OOC: Not the greatest but, eh. Sorry it took so long. Let me know if I missed anything, or misread anything.)

While some found “nerd speak” to be a good sleep aid, Magda, oddly enough, could never be put to sleep by something so boring. Instead, when faced with something uninteresting, her first reaction was usually irritation or annoyance. And that was usually followed by the urge to shove the person causing the boredom (ex. nerd speak) through a wall.

That was precisely how she felt about the current task. It was uninteresting and she wanted to push something or someone across the people filled halls of the shopping center. Children were nasty creatures. They talked too much, they asked stupid questions, they were messy and needy and just… repulsive. There was nothing about them that screamed “fun”. Why would she ever want to spend a perfectly good day searching for little kids? It was absurd.

This could very well be their first and last day out of the dungeon for a very long time and it made no sense to her to have to rip the mall apart to find some kids. Other Omegas could do it. Someone who actually cared could do it. In the meantime, she could enjoy her freedom and actually have some fun.

She decided on pizza and began leading Orchid to the food court. As they meandered through the sea of shoppers, Orchid spotted a video game store and told a story about how there was a game about her. Although the description had nothing to do with short people or the color blue, Magda once again made a comment regarding the Smurfs. It was just the first thing that popped in her head.

“And how exactly are you going to do that, Orchid?” That was probably not the best thing to ask considering all hell was breaking loose at the other side of the mall. But she simply couldn’t contain her curiosity. How was Orchid going to make her pay for her Smurf/Alpha comment? Was she going to dye her blue and make her parade around their underground home? She wanted to know but sadly it was not the time for that. They had enemies to fight.

The tiny girl was thankful that her roommate decided on platinum blond locks and a shiny black suit for the fight. It made her easier to follow. However, by the time her small legs carried her to her destination, the action was already over. She expressed her disappointment and regarded the kids in a slightly disgusted manner, not caring one bit that they might’ve found that to be offensive.

She followed the group to the clump of trees in the park where Gambit rushed out and snatched the two kids. Charlotte announced they had six targets coming their way before shooting one with her weapon.
“Nice shot,” She commented quickly before running off with Orchid.

The hair manipulator attacked the soldiers in a way Magda could only describe as fascinating. The tendrils of hair acted like tentacles as they pulled the weapons from the two MRDs. She extended her repulsive bubble in hopes they would ignore her long enough for her to find an opening to help her roommate. It worked… except the soldier originally coming at her turned and tackled Orchid instead.
                                                “Oops…”

She heard the crack of bones and immediately sprung into action. The second man Orchid was fighting turned his attention on her. She saw him reach for his handcuffs but knocked him back with a flick of her wrists. She made her way over to him just in time to catch him trying to sit up but with another blast, she knocked him back down with enough force to give him a concussion.

One had a broken neck, the second was unconscious with a concussion, and the third was trying to free himself from a hair monster. This day was turning out to be quite interesting.

Turning to the third soldier, she didn’t hesitate to send a forceful blast at the guy’s face. With the hair that was wrapped around the guy’s neck, the blast knocked his head back and a distinctive crack was heard. He, like the first guy, would not be walking if they ever regained consciousness. And that was something Magda could easily live with.

They had no tolerance for her and she had none for them. The feeling was very much mutual.

Walking over to Orchid, she extended a hand to help the girl up should she take it.
                                                “You okay?”

“It’s safe to say two of them won’t be coming after us any time soon. Not sure about this one over here,”
She said, nudging the second soldier with her boot.

“I don’t suppose we’re allowed to go back for pizza?”

                      xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOmega - mall

If his mask’s eyes could have widened with her remark, it would have. “No.” He said dramatically, though a smile played about his lips. He knew too well his lover wouldn’t allow such an atrocity to fall upon his head - not when she so loved to run her fingers through the dark locks when no one was there to witness it. He revelled under the weight of her stare feeling its warmth from a few feet away. Even now, in the midst of what would likely turn into an ugly war, he marveled over her perfection, was left in awe that she had chosen him.

That is what old men say as an excuse for their receding hairline - especially the ones that get the yamaka circle at the top of their head.

The time for jokes was cut short with the sentinel crashed their party. As per usual, the speedster and the size shifter minced jokes about each other - and neither of them ever wanted to let the other have the last word. Given his over-grown size, Aren couldn’t help but let out a booming laugh when his friend said ‘idolize.’ “You’re the one at my feet, Speedy.

Felix and Peyton brought the robot to its knees while he played distraction. He too went down with the gust, but quickly collected himself when the new girl caused their world to shake. He kept a hand on Narcissa’s back to steady her, ignoring the unbearable heat that threatened to scorch his newly mended hands. Once he knew she wasn’t going to fall from the waves underneath their feet, he couldn’t help but make a remark to Peyton too, saying something about how hard she could blow. “What if I liked it?” He countered just before the shockwave woman flew across the room. He moved quickly, doing as his leader bid - and dashed over to the point of impact for the new girl.

He missed exactly what Narcissa was blowing up, but the heat that surged through the building was unmistakeable. Worry raced through him, but he hardly had time to wait for confirmation she was alright. That he did not immediately feel any discomfort through their tether had to suffice, despite how much it tore him apart to leave her behind… Blake or not.

No one else had the vested interest in her well-being. Not like him.

Instead of following his heart, he followed his leader’s directions. Every step felt more impossible than the last, as though he had gorilla glue dabbed on the soles of his shoes. The sight of the Texan’s friend crumpled on the ground did quicken his pace, but the tether’s protest felt no less adamant. “Yeah… Amarillo is a little tied up….” He responded when Alice asked if he was offering a ride out of the crumbling building. He had to give her credit it - despite being injured, the blond attempted to stand on her own two feet… only that clearly wasn’t happening.

This might hurt a little bit.” He warned, growing larger as he said it. Carefully, the Native American scooped her up and brought her into his chest for the support a wall would offer her. “So you’re that girl those country artists use as inspiration for their songs…” Somehow he rolled his shoulders in a shrug without moving her. “I always wondered.

Alice informed him she normally wouldn’t stand for someone toting her out in such a fashion and he grinned behind the eagle’s mask. “I think this qualifies as the ‘threshold carry’ because you aren’t tossed over my shoulder.” He corrected, humor still threaded into his tone. “Expect hate mail from my fan club for the next few weeks.” While a part of him was simply dishing back what the woman gave out, that remark was partially said as a warning. Those girls weren’t particularly rational when it came to his ties to women. Cammi had received multiple glitter bombs, pranks and scathing looks just for them playing video games together.

While very few had been brave enough to cross paths with Narcissa, he had a feeling this new blond would be a nice new target for those delirious girls.

The girl in his arms exclaimed suddenly and Aren stopped moving when she said something about her purse. They didn’t have the time to go back and do a search. “Solaris…” He opened his communication line with his leader, his voice a little harder than usual. “Aftershock lost her purse in the fight… It should be under one of the tables.” She didn’t have time to look either, but she’d be effective in making sure no one else could find it instead. “Now no one will find it.” He said, continuing to dart through the debris.

One of the newer members announced their assistance and the size shifter nodded. “Nice to see a friendly face.” He said, his pace quickening now that he had someone watching him from behind.

It didn’t take long for him to arrive at the rendezvous point, where he informed Narcissa of the unaccounted for Omegas (Why had Kerri’s group not followed him out? They had been right there with him), and made a joke to Blake over the comms about stealing his girl - only for Alice to make a retort just before Blake decided to school him on history. “Actually, cowboy… the white folk only won after a plague ran rampant just before Columbus’ boat found the eastern coast. Before that, not even the Vikings could take us. Even with their superior weapons.

He grinned at Alice, and his mask seemed to emanate his expression as though it transformed as easily as he switched moods. “But this one is delusional… She seems to like that thick accent of yours.

Blake appeared shortly after and Aren helped Alice over to him, but his molten chocolate eyes didn’t leave the doors leading into the mall. Where was Ki’somma? The cowboy had been with her… His heart sank into his stomach when he heard Blake ask the same thing. “Ki’somma…” The name tumbled from his lips as an echo to what he felt about her being inside by herself. Hitting the transmit button once again, the size shifter connected to his lover’s line just as she sent her own about taking care of the injured. Blake was already seeing to that.

I’m giving you one minute before I come in there after you.” He said, his skull pulsing from a sudden headache. Trouble inevitably followed them out of the complex, and Charlotte pointed out just as he informed his leader what his choice would be if she didn’t get to him soon enough for his liking.

Orchid, Mags, Charlotte and Roland took on the brunt of the force while the Texan guarded the blond he’d carried out of the building. CHoosing to maintain his overgrown size, Aren didn’t have to work very hard to keep any stragglers from getting too close to the portal. The fights ended somewhat quickly and Blake started dishing out orders that the native paid no heed to, already determined to make good on his promise to Narcissa. “Solaris… I’m headed back toward you now.

Without a second thought, he pulled on the invisible strings that had sewn them together. He would find her.

You are most certainly a girl. And a victim of circumstance. Kat had experienced enough pain for the both of them, which saddened the telekinetic beyond what words could express. That her bestie did not think of herself deserving of enough respect not to be abused only proved that point further. “Especially now.” She said with a small smile. Even if no one else was willing to give the former Hydra agent the benefit of the doubt, Aurelie always would. That’s what besties were for, and while many had questioned just how the shapeshifter had earned her loyalty, Aurelie knew the feelings were reciprocated. Kat had been the one to make her believe she could be on a team. That her place here hadn’t been a mistake on Scott’s part.

Everyone deserved a second chance. Wasn’t that what Xavier had drilled into the senior X-men when he ran the school? Times hadn’t changed so much that the mantra didn’t hold true.

Arguing further about Gideon’s role in hurting her best friend would go no where, so she let the subject die. Kat may have just gotten here a few short months ago… but Gideon had been here for years. He knew better. No matter how the Italian justified his behavior, the Wolverine clone had not been one of Hydra’s weapons for a long time… Bella’s touch had been said to humanize him… She hadn’t been around to witness it, but enough people talked about the power couple around the school for others outside the Columbian’s circle to pick up a few things.

Their conversation switched to something much lighter, where Aurelie and Kat made poor Dominik the butt of their jokes. Kat accused her boyfriend of being gay, and it took some effort to stifle her laugh. “I don’t think he is now…” She said, mirth sparkling in her eyes, making them resemble precious gems. Turning to Dom she grinned puckishly. “But… if you ever did decide that you no longer liked women… I totally expect compensation for being your cover for as long as I have.” She teased, unable to help herself when Kat was so good at encouraging it.

Unfortunately, the exchange with Bella soured her mood, and she vented to her boyfriend about how demeaning the leader had appeared. Pressing herself to let it go for now, Aurelie made a few glib remarks to the rest of their group. Gabriel - the boy she had intended to make trip over himself - mostly ignored her. Alarm shot through her, but Bella addressed it and she left him well enough alone.

After only a few short minutes of jokes and teasing did they have to start to focus - the guards on the outer perimeter of the compound were headed toward them. The execution of Siren’s orders made quick work of the group, but how easily their leader hypnotized the MRDs left her feeling uneasy, which didn’t go away when Bella said that they wouldn’t stay like that for long.

Love for us, or for our parts, Playboy?” Aurie teased right back, swallowing any more complaints she had about tearing the guns from the MRDs. Bella’s encouragement only confused her… why be saccharine after being so condescending just before the mission?

She stuck her tongue out at her teammate and he didn’t disappoint when he responded to her innuendo. “WuKong was definitely not what I was talking about.” She said, feeling her cheeks heat up ever so slightly. She’d toed the line, and without Kat to keep her right there on it, she didn’t go further with her remarks. “But… now that you mention it, please don’t singe any of his fur… Burnt hair is a smell that never leaves your nasal cavity.

She couldn’t help but express her fear about what was going on with the other group of Alphas - her mind specifically honing in on her worry for her best friends. Bella did what she could to assure her that they would know if something wasn’t right, and she tried for a nod but remained unconvinced enough to follow through with the gesture. If things were going well, wouldn’t they have said something about that too?

She decided then that she hated waiting. Sighing, she had started to shift her weight from one foot to another when Julian finally appeared with the key. She had opened her mouth to ask about Kat - but before she could form the words the teleporter disappeared once again. They began to press forward again, quickly reaching a wall. As the resident telekinetic, Bella asked her to help those who might need assistance in scaling the wall. Raine asked before she could draw up a force field from beneath the whole of the group’s feet. With a bit of concentration, she specifically elevated the girl, the back of her mind falling to an old Sinatra song. “Not at all.” She said, lips quirking toward the sky.

Just as she helped the last who needed it, Bella warned that things had been a bit too easy for them thus far and that they shouldn’t let their guard down - only for her words to end with the sound of gunfire. Reflexively, Aurie drew up a shield around them, closing her eyes in response to the sudden sound. Anyone that walked too far from her would get a face full of telekinetic shield. “Not a bomb. Not a bomb.” She murmured to herself, clutching her elbows as she shivered. Licking her now cracking lips, the telekinetic forced herself to peer up at the world. Now was certainly not the time to panic.

The rest of the team was still in here, potentially being shot at. Kat or Leo could be getting shot at. The image of them being peppered with gunfire caused her will to steel over, and she moved when Bella barked out more directives. She could panic later. Finding Dom’s hand, she squeezed it for support when Bella split them up. “Be careful.” She uttered before following her leader further into the compound.

Dimitri brought up a good point when Bella told them to respect any prisoner’s decision to stay, but Aurelie’s mouth thinned into a grim line. No doubt there were some that might - it would all just depend on what they had vested in their situation. “I certainly wouldn’t want to stay either.” She said quietly. Hell, the deeper they went into the compound, the heavier her chest felt. She chalked it up to her earlier trepidations about being on a mission again after her last one, and not to instincts insisting that she turn tail and run as far away from the mutant jail as possible.

Aurelie pushed one of the MRDs into the wall with an invisible hand, causing the cement behind him to crack, hairline fractures racing to the ceiling. His temple bled, but the falling and rising of his chest said he was only unconscious. They met up with a prisoner that one of the MRDs had been escorting, and Bella introduced herself using her codename on the field before informing the others of incoming trouble.

Something was approaching them. Her insides tightened at the words, twisting impossibly into knots.

She swallowed a lump of air and glanced back at the prisoner who hadn’t shown much brain activity going on behind his eyes. The telekinetic wiggled her fingers toward him and offered a friendly smile. Was he even aware of where he was? Giving him a once over, it didn’t look like they had harmed him too badly… his wrists were free of abrasions; he wasn’t hunched over the way she had seen a lot of other victims of abuse. He reminded her nothing of the people in the mall.

But before she could question it, another onslaught of soldiers headed their way; Bella reacted violently, eventually bringing herself to break a guy’s arm at his elbow. Wincing from the sounds coming from the Alpha leader, Aurie telekinetically pulled off their weapons as she had at the compound’s edge. “Playboy… melt these down.” She said, tossing him her newest set of MRD loot before taking a pinky to the inner part of one ear, as though the motion would clear out the memory of that awful sound. Dimitri made a remark about it and Aurelie found herself grinning. “Right?

Invisible pulses of force shields pushed a few more soldiers down, and she held them there as she took their weapons. “You won’t be needing these anymore.” She informed them tightly. “Siren, any word from the others?” She asked, hesitant to follow her back to the watchtower when Leo’s group was likely still in the building.

Glancing back at their one prisoner from over her shoulder, she kept her tone neutral. “Keep up.

She didn’t want to leave them behind. She heard more gunfire behind them, the sound muffled enough by the walls for her to be able to tell it wasn’t directly within their vicinity. Her hand reached for her comm before she could stop herself. “Kali? Renaissance man?

In the confusion, she didn’t realize the prisoner had started to move until cold metal pressed into her skin. She sucked in a sharp breath and impulsively pushed all around her, hard enough that if Dimitri, Esben and Bella didn’t get out of the way, they’d be knocked over. The prisoner shot just as she did so, and the bullet landed in the cement wall, causing bits of it to come down on her. Blood trickled down her temple from where the debris had hit her head, leaving her hairline feeling suddenly warm and then cold again.

Siren.” She said, fire in her voice. “Our prisoner…” She trailed off, but the man was now hanging upside down in the air.

Charlie setting up a sparring "date" with Kerrigan, their supposed probation officer, was a nice little surprise for the werewolf. He knew that between the two of them, Charlie was definitely the friendlier one. Christian liked to think he offered more wolfish charm than his Arizona friend, a strength each handled well and took advantage of in social situations. Really, Christian was glad that Kerrigan was made their little chaperone: her affinity with the physical arts was probably a boon to their quick chemistry, even if Christian was didn't hit it off as well as Charlie had did with her. Christian might have even accused his friend of flirting with their lady friend, if he didn't know that she was already spoken for. Whatever the case, he knew that this was the start of a good friendship in the Omegas. Now they just needed to extend these good vibes with the rest of the team and they'd be set for being best pals with all of them; no small task, if the their reputation proved to be more than just idle rumors.

Under the guise of gym friends, the trio made their first stop at Finish Line, to keep up with appearances and to use the shop as a possible vantage point to look for their twin set. It didn't take long, however, for their communicators requested their assistance at the food court, Charlie's earlier wish for excitement being granted. Christian's stellar acting skills were put to the test, but they fell flat as Christian realized that playing normal when under pressure, when it counted, was harder than he thought, finding a barely okay reasoning for his communicator going off as he hobbled out of the store, probably creating a bigger scene than trying to lessen it by dropping a shoe and likely bumping into a few patrons. Charlie, as his friend, was his best critic, letting him know that his future in the industry was not guaranteed, something he returned with an equally sincere disregard for his opinion. Charlie was one of the few people Christian could remember to goof around with on a daily basis, almost forgetting they were both outsiders to the world they lived in. In these little moments of almost sibling-like joshing, they almost felt normal.

It was time to move into changing into their uniforms, to avoid being recognized sometime down the line due to Youtube or some cheeky smartphone video on Facebook. Christian's suggestion to use the bathroom was a quick one, one that was met with warm acceptance by his partners, and they made their way into their respective gender's rooms. After grappling with the idea that barefoot uniforms and public bathrooms were not ideal conditions, he and Charlie emerged from the bathroom, clad in their borderline comic-book uniforms. It wasn't about looks, just about hiding identities, but Christian's childhood dream of being a superhero with his own uniform was fulfilled, and he was even on his first mission. He'd be giddy about it later.

Kerrigan's own uniformed appearance drew Charlie's attention for much longer than what could be considered friendly and wandering into staring territory, but it wasn't long before he revealed his fascination with her suit, and not necessarily her, well, form. News of a Sentinel, supported by the thunderous booms heard through the mall, were met with mixed reception from the group. Christian was right to be nervous, knowing that large force like that was not to be trifled with, yet Charlie was the first to ease his concerns by making light of the situation. Surprisingly, it was successful in bringing Christian into more confident grounds, but it came at a price: Kerrigan snapped at the two for not meeting the Sentinel threat with appropriate concern, something that was met with a quick apology from the two. However Christian leaned into Charlie a bit and whispered a quick "Busted!" to his friend before chuckling. His friend's efforts had worked well enough: despite Kerrigan wanting them to keep a serious tone for the attack, Charlie's cheer and attitude brought Christian's bravado back, along with his child-like humor.

They headed towards the way of the battle, as suggested by Charlie following the direction most of the mall goers were running and a few others running towards. A few of these suspect onlookers turned out to be MRD mooks as three intercepted them and attempted to take them down. Each of the trio took on their own foe, Charlie making his first move a tackle towards one of them, Kerrigan taking her own opponent on in her own scuffle, leaving Christian to fend off his own opposition.

However, that poor grunt was up against a werewolf, and very little training could possibly prepare him for the horror that he went up against.

Christian's battle became trivial at that point, the MRD grunt being disposed as easily as litter. Charlie and Kerrigan fared well in their own fights as well, and the three of them continued to make their way to the food court, skillfully taking out any MRD that dared to come forward to stop them. After all, what use were they against three physically capable mutants, especially when one of them towered over them, and could crunch their bones between his fangs?

The scene at the food court was intense, the giant robot fighting two fellow mutants (even if one of them was one he didn't recognize being on the team before) being the focal point of the battle. But, it wasn't Christian's group to fight, as they had received orders from Narcissa herself to give protection to Tiny and the other mutant who he didn't recognize, who was now severely injured from the battle with the Sentinel.

Christian sprung into action, reaching the objective and scaring away any MRD dumb enough to try and get too close to the group. Charlie and Kerrigan both worked together to take out the ones who got distracted by the werewolf's size, before he and Charlie gave them the okay to move forward: they would be giving them safe passage to the exit. And that they did, which was only threatened by a few that thought they could take Christian on: they were wrong.

With Tiny and his protection out, Narcissa called for a full evacuation, something Christian was willing to listen to, if Kerrigan hadn't faltered for the slightest of moments. She contact two people, the first being a Paladin, and then a Chameleon. The first was out and evacuated already, while the latter still remained in the mall, near the food court, from the sound of it. Kerrigan gave surprising orders to he and Charlie, to find Chameleon and Jinx and get them out. Their second protection detail in the same mission.

Even more surprising, Narcissa gave them the go ahead to go forward with the mission, with strict reminders that they had a small time limit to get them out, or risk sending in more people to get them all out, all while evading the MRD. Christian slammed his hands (Paws? Claws?) together, cracking his knuckles before taking off to go find the two...even though he was still unsure about how their uniforms looked. He wasn't exactly on a first name basis with the two, but at least he'd be able to find within the short time span, given that they were near the food court already. Charlie and Kerrigan would be lending a hand too, so it wasn't like he was operating by himself.

He bounded on all fours, head scanning around him to see any Omega members that traveled in pairs that hadn't been...accounted....for

There were two Omegas standing in a doorway leading into the food court. He didn't know they were that close.

Christian slid as he adjusted his course and vaulted towards the pair, noticing an MRD grunt running towards them as well. Unfortunately, he was in the werewolf's way, and would be dealt with accordingly. All it took was a powerful running shoulder check to send the grunt flying across the floor and come crashing into a table, flipping over it and sliding to a halt in a pile of flipped over tables and chairs. Out of the way, and out cold.

He barked as he reached the pair of uniformed Omegas and attempted to come to a sliding halt in front of them, nearly losing his balance as his great size made for an awkward full stop, his weight making it hard to have control over his traction. What result was his slamming into the wall near the door and letting out a yelp as his snout connected with the wall, Christian backing away from the wall and shaking his head to relieve the pain. He turned his muzzle to face the two, and hoped that these two were Chameleon and Jinx. He pointed to the X symbol on his chest, to show he was a friendly, before barking at them again. He then started signing to them in his basic American Sign Language, as it was the only way he was going to be communicating to them in this form that wasn't a bark, whine, or howl. He signed to them "Chameleon" and "Jinx", asking them if they were indeed the pair they were looking for. The sound of MRD shouting at them caused him to look behind him, then back at the girls. "Friend", "Guard", "Leave", and "Now" were his next signed words, pointing towards the exit, where the portal lay. It was likely that his huge form attracted more MRD towards them, unfortunately. However, Christian was a suitable defensive lineman for his cargo, and Charlie and Kerrigan were a fearsome force in their own right. They could take on a few more MRD in helping to evacuate this potential Chameleon and Jinx.

Christian felt a sharp p***k in his left shoulder suddenly, whipping around swiftly in response. He saw a dart stuck into his skin, and his gaze hardened. He'd been shot, his size likely making for a good target for some MRD that was smart enough to realize that shooting a monster like him was preferable than going toe to toe. Nevertheless, Christian grabbed at the dart and throw it the wall, spinning to face the MRD that shot him, who stared at him as he realized that he made the giant, ferocious werewolf angry. The tranquilizer was likely enough to take down a human...but there needed to be a bigger dose to take down a beast of Christian's size. Still, he felt the effects immediately, his vision already starting to blur, and his muscles beginning to feel less tense, his balance growing shaky. But Christian wasn't going to succumb to a dose that size, just feel some of its effects, and he certainly wasn't going to let the MRD get that one in for free.

The werewolf took a few steps to the nearest food stall and ripped the cash register from its spot, the wires and buttons on it making a cacophony of money music. Then, with sluggish coordination, he pitched the register at the MRD, who turned and tried to run away, but got pelted with it on his leg, knocking him down and making him roll on the ground, clutching his leg in pain.

Christian walked back to the two girls, growling and scratching at where the dart stuck him. It was beginning to numb, as he the effects were likely to grow as time went on. It was best they made a move on to the exit now. Charlie and Kerrigan would have arrived by now, and brought out a conversation Christian couldn't have right now. Talking wasn't his strongest point when transformed, as he was more of a beast of action.

Gracie scrunched her features in distaste when Daylia mentioned the herps. “Yeah, I’d rather not get gonorr-herp-a-syphilitis.” She agreed. “Just not worth the time for the risks and emotional entanglements.” The hex generator said pensively. “Who here has that kind of time anyway?” What with their team schedule, she didn’t think anyone on the Omegas really made dating a priority.

When they got to the mall, the first place their route took them was the food court, which really was no surprise to either of them. Daylia liked to eat, and Gracie enjoyed her company and the occasional splurge on junk one could only find at a mall’s food court. She did mention, however, how the molecular manipulator’s food habits were going to force her into going to the gym more often. “Maybe that will be my workout plan then.” She said with a grin after Daylia threatened to punch anyone who tried to rouse her at three a.m. to hit the treadmill. “I’ll wake you up and then have to outrun you. That’s sure to burn some calories.

Emlen offered a few other ideas to keep trim, and both decidedly latched onto the awful idea of tapeworms. “Friends don’t let friends ingest parasites.” The Georgia peach affirmed when Daylia reluctantly agreed to exercise with her. Even getting up before the chickens had to be better than ingesting a worm. Just the thought of it caused her to shiver in repulsion.

Like most women, they didn’t stay on one subject for long, and after they finished their lunch, the two started ‘shopping’ in order to look for the kids at the backs of the stores. From girls’ night and dressing Luke up like Bo Peep, the two settled on finding Daylia a sense of style - which resulted in Gracie tossing clothes over to her faux red-headed friend as she passed the racks. “Rummaging through Cissa’s closet is far from torture, doll.” Most of the girls on campus would kill for that kind of opportunity.

Granted, she might dress a little skankier than you’d be willing to…” Gracie trailed off, trying to imagine Daylia flouncing about the way Narcissa did. All she could picture was her poor friend hugging the bare spots of her skin, shifting uncomfortably. “On second thought, we’ll ask her to go shopping with us.

Just as Gracie had been ready to ask for assistance in getting a dressing room, a MRD called out from the front of the store, announcing to the entire populace that there were mutants there. Both of the girls ducked into a dressing room that was luckily open, but it was a tight fit. “Obviously the plus sized don’t shop here.” Gracie muttered, figuring the pair of them would make one plus sized individual. It was nothing short of a miracle that neither lost an eye while trying to recall the motion used to activate their uniforms.

They both sniggered about the potential for a rumor to start from their escapade. “Monkey boy would totally make the ideal victim.” She agreed. “Anything with a tail just opens up the can of worms on themselves.

At some point while they were floundering around like fish out of water in any attempt to remember the activation motion, Gracie compared their space to Superman and his telephone booths - to which Daylia asked just who had those around anymore. “True. DC comics are obsolete. But I guess then so is Maroon 5.” She then sighed, glancing down at the tops of her shoes - that song would be running in her head for days at the mere mention of it, and she only had herself to blame this time.

Just as soon as the uniforms materialized, a man started beating at the door, his fists hammering into the slanted wooden slats in an effort to break them. Both Daylia and she offered up a few one liners to the guy, as though they were un phased by the very real threat he posed to them. Hurriedly, they devised a plan to sneak out the back wall. The experience left a little to be desired, and the hex generator gave a small smile when she said she’d leave the going through things to the professionals - but pretending to be like Kitty Pryde for the day was something few girls would complain about.

Gracie took very little time to supply her friend with a bottle of water, the signs of fatigue clearly etched in her features. Meanwhile, she threatened the poor boy taking his break in the room they had found, insisting he keep his mouth shut on which way they were headed. Daylia downed half the bottle in what seemed like one gulp and Gracie’s eyebrow raised in question. “Slow down, lady and save some for the cows.” And then more seriously, she added, “You’ll puke.

They made their way out and decided on a path to get to the portal, both entirely unsure that they were headed the right way. The mall didn’t have a map for the staff. Daylia muttered that they should have known better than to traverse through shopping centers and Emlen mutedly agreed by bobbing her head. Bustling crowds with lots of security… and the X-men’s experiences in this setting all defined what they’d come to as a bad idea. “A little late for that revelation… but at least we can pen a note for the future.” She said, trying for a small bit of optimism despite their circumstances.

Not that it would really matter in the end. If duty called them back to a mall, a mall was where they would go.

As they walked what they both hoped was the exit, the chaos that ensued on the other side of the wall promised that they were on track. The building shook and Gracie nearly lost her footing, taking an extra few steps to try and steady herself. Daylia latched onto a wall, and Gracie’s arms went into the air to help with balance. The phaser answered her question with an honest guess and the brunette grimaced at the thought. It really did sound like war. How many people were going to die as a result of the MRD’s hunt?

Narcissa asked for their status through her partner’s comm, but it was the hex machine who answered, explaining their intent to do just that - save they were a little worse for wear and it was going to take them a bit of time to get around the MRDs unnoticed. The leader seemed to agree with their strategy even without Gracie explaining just where they were. “Right on point to our method of escape.” She responded, the grin reaching her tone. “We’ll be out soon; don’t worry about us.” If push came to shove, she would simply start pointing at people until they got the message: stay out of her way. Bad luck and jinxes always followed a finger point.

They opened the door to the far end of the food court, and both took a second to process all the destruction - from the burning stores, to the caved in ceiling, the rocked foundation and the sentinel on the ground… Her mouth fell open in shock. “Definitely heard a war.” She murmured, rounding back to their guesses on what was going on earlier. Hooking her own arm into the crook of her friend’s, she pulled them both back behind the door. Obviously, they were going to have to find an alternate route. “There’s got to be an employee exit somewhere close.” She promised.

In a few minutes, it became clear to both of them that they were nowhere closer to finding a way out of the mall - and Daylia complained before Gracie got the chance, asking just how there weren’t any directories available. “Likely because the people using this area would know where they were going anyway.” The Georgia bell said, her features pinched with her growing frustration. Being lost sucked. “How close are we to the Canadian border? We’ll just ride some moose back, then we won’t need to worry about that deadline Solaris gave us.

Daylia pointed to an exit sign, and Emlen nodded. “Thank you, Jesus.” She muttered, moving toward the neon letters. Once they got there, the obvious need for another plan caused them to pause. Just how to proceed… Daylia suggested that Emmi run ahead, with her tagging behind, invisible to the naked eye. ‘Do you have the energy to sustain that form for very long?” Gracie asked, in tune to how exhausted her friend was already. “How about we go on ahead side by side, and I point at anything that gets in our way?

It was then that Kerrigan asked for their location and Gracie swallowed a sarcastic retort given how lost they had been for the last ten minutes. “Good question. We’re still trying to figure that out.” She said back into her comm. “We saw the food court about 50 yards ago, and we’re in the employee section.

Soon after, a very large dog came up to greet them, his paws nearly skidding in his effort to stop - which the wall made a lot easier in short order. She sniggered at the sight and then held a hand over her mouth as she made a comment to her friend. “I’m guessing he’s lost his blind guy.” She said, wondering for a second just why else a dog would be in the mall. “Aww look! He comes with his own costume!” Gracie exclaimed, resisting the urge to scratch behind his ears and tell him ‘good boy.’

Yes, she was grasping most of what the werewolf was trying to communicate, but he totally deserved to be teased before they accepted his help. After all… both of the girls had been on board with finding some moose instead of going through the tingly portal again. “Oh sweetie… neither of us are deaf. We don’t read that mess…” Not to mention the fact that he was missing a few digits to do the signs properly. Her mind tried to sort out the letters… but every time he switched motions, she started singing the ABC’s again in her head to put what she thought she saw to the letter it belonged to.

Just as she finished her last line to make a few jabs at Mr. Furry, someone shot a dart between his shoulders. He pulled out the dart with his teeth, and spun around to see the officer who had the gall to shoot him. Christian made a show of throwing a cash register and pelting the guy with it and Gracie bobbed her head in appreciation. “Nice.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Think you could carry Chameleon as a passenger? She’s a bit wiped after dragging me through a wall.” Her lips tipped upward into an impish grin when she glanced at Daylia. “He might not be a moose, but I think he’ll do.

At this Location: Mall Arcade then Food Court then ParkThinking About: Extraction Plan While on Team: Omega

                                              User Image

They had almost made it out of the food court and to the safety of their extraction point when a woman bumped into them, her purse releasing an alarm that notified the MRDs of their position with their precious cargo. Blake called for them to take their wards and run, Charlotte not wasting any time (since there was none to waste).

Grabbing the twins, she broke off from the group, Roland on her heels, as all hell seemed to break loose around them. MRDs flooded the Food Court, a sentinel dropping from the skylight as the rest of the Omegas made their way to the location, engaging the enemy. Charlotte kept running with her wards, bursting through an exit at the back of the food court, doing her best to avoid or incapacitate obstacles that planted themselves in her path. She was able to keep them moving, trying to blend them in with the flocks of frightened civilians rushing away from the scene of the chaos. Unfortunately, she soon found herself surrounded by several MRDs, stepping forward to place herself between the twins and their captors. Her mind started working on how she was going to draw enough fire to allow the twins a chance to get to the woods, where she'd told them that rescue was waiting.

Roland, Orchid and Magda came to their rescue, quickly dispatching of their attackers while Charlotte found herself relieved to see them. She armed herself with a second tranquilizer gun offered to her by the savage girl with prehensile hair. The redhead could only nod as the woman explained that she would be able to get more use out of the weapon than she could, which was a bit of an understatement given the severity of the attack she'd just seen from the girl.

Orchid promised Magda that they would make sure to keep an enemy around for her next time, since they hadn't saved an MRD for her out of the pack. It seemed like an odd promise to make someone, but then she was starting to suspect that some of the odder ducks had been assigned to the Omegas. Expressing how happy she as to see them, the redhead introduced the group to the twins, casting Orchid a sideways grin as she girls simply stared at them. Clearing her throat, she offered an apologetic smile to the kids before they set off once more as a group. "Don't pay her any mind. She's really quite pleasant to be around, I swear. I promise, they're here to help us. Just stick close to me and we'll have you out of here in no time."

Once they made it to the extraction point, Gambit burst onto the scene, taking the twins with him through the portal while they waited for the rest of their team to show up for extraction. She couldn't help but laugh slightly at Orchid's lamenting the fact that he had taken their "human shields" away, "Remind me never to ask you to babysit. Ever."

By this point, some of the other Omegas were starting to arrive at the rendezvous, including Blake, who had someone she didn't recognize in tow. She was glad to see that he was alright, blue eyes turning back towards the mall as he pointed out that Solaris was still back at the food court, apparently alone. Her eyesight picked up the movement of 6 MRDs that had followed them, still a ways off. Pointing them out to the rest of the group, she took aim and disposed of one of the approaching MRDs with a single shot. Offering a shrug as Anima complimented her aim, it was apparently enough for the rest of the group to leap into action.

Roland broke off to engage two of the soldiers himself, while Anima and Covett paired up and took cover. Their behemoth disposed of them with a baton-like weapon that grew out of his armor. Rather than going in for the final blow, however, he seemed to pause, choosing instead to handcuff the man (much to his own apparent bewilderment). It didn't seem his style - from what she remembered in previous missions, he had always been the wildcard. Maybe he was growing soft...

Meanwhile, the dynamic duo engaged a trio of MRDs zig-zagging their way through a clearing, managing to bring the situation under control despite some momentary difficulties. Charlotte was impressed with their efficiency, relieve that she found herself in such veteran company. After all, she'd not been on the Omegas for too long, even now.

Blake's voice activated through the comm, asking if she could escort Aftershock to the Infirmary. She hated the thought of leaving before everyone was back, but knew that it wouldn't do much good for her to stick around. After all, enough of them were out now that the portal was protected. He confirmed that he would be sending the others through as they arrived once he was sure that the area was covered. Besides, this seemed like one of those situations where it might behoove them to have a berserker on hand to assist in crowd control as opposed to her. That only left one answer, as far as she could see it.

"Without my bow, I'm not going to be of much more use here. You don't need me to hold this position, so I'll take care of her," she responded to Blake, giving him a curt nod to emphasize her words. Making her way over to the portal, she cast them one last look before disappearing through, instantly walking back through at the base. Immediately she caught sight of the face she didn't recognize, being Alice, and closed the distance between them. She tried to put on a pleasant smile, moving to assist the girl in standing and walking, if it was needed.

"Hi there, I'm Charlotte. Blake asked me to see you to the Infirmary." She wasn't sure how the girl had ended up in such a state, but she would see to it that they made it to their destination.

“You’ll do great.”, Luke reassured Alex, sounding a lot more confident than he felt. Whatever disturbance he’d glimpsed left him feeling uneasy. Especially because he couldn’t see it anymore. Had it been some kind of optical illusion? What if he’d been sequestered underground too long and real sunlight made him hallucinate? Like too much of a good thing? He alternated between following Isabella’s group, and Leonardo’s. He hadn’t really met the latter, but R-Man seemed capable enough. Kind of like he had a stick where it didn’t belong sometimes… But a good guy. Smart, at least. Smart was what the X-Men needed… It wasn’t his place to judge the rest. “Just don’t forget to keep an eye on our six.”

His attitude was a little less cavalier as he gripped the gun carefully, ignoring sweaty palms. He couldn’t tell if the teams were taking too much, or too little time moving forward. “Even as far away as we are, whatever I saw seemed pretty big…I’m hoping it was just a passing airliner or something in the distance.”

He really, really didn’t want it to be reinforcements. But how could a plain government run holding center afford that kind of protection? Some kind of object capable of rendering itself near invisible to the naked eye, and completely removed from radar? He supposed it was possible…But it seemed unlikely. Why spare so many resources on mutants that they didn’t seem to feel the need to feed or properly clothe?

Even at a distance he heard the gunfire begin, quickly readjusting so that he could look down his sights to try and find the source. Flairer, see if you can find out where that came from.”

He visually scanned the yard and eventually landed on Isabella’s group. He focused on the Siren herself, and attempted to find an opening…But he couldn’t take a shot without possibly hitting his team leader. He tried to radio in to warn the songstress about more soldiers approaching, but the comm didn’t seem to be working. “Siren? Siren, do you copy?”

“Is your comm working Flairer? All I’m getting is static.”
, it felt like they’d suddenly been cut off from the rest of the group. He fiddled with his ear piece but to no avail, and kept his focus on the yard…Hoping that the team leader would give him some kind of direction or sign. “Siren?”

He swallowed hard when he realized that Isabella couldn’t hear him. She’d seemed so confident in beginning this mission that for a second, he’d forgotten that she was a five foot two girl. Seeing soldiers take pot shots at her, and some of the others, reminded him how fragile they really were. Maybe it was over apparent because of his birds eye view... But he had a sinking feeling in his stomach that was slowly getting worse.

His head shot up from the scope when he heard what sounded like a cannon go off. Luke stood up without thinking, and a tree branch wrapped around his torso to keep him from falling from his perch. His eyes widened as he saw something bright and dangerous settle over the base and surrounding area. Some kind of mesh, or a net? Dafaq?

“…The hell is that…”, he spoke without thinking, deciding to take a few test shots at it. The bullets didn’t penetrate what he was quickly figuring out to be a force field. This was a trap, if there ever was one. A sham, designed specifically to draw the X-Men in. Crap baskets. Double crap baskets.

Luke had suspected that all of this was just a little too easy, and he ran a hand over his bald head. There was some kind of metal box that seemed to be stabilizing the force field, and he reached for his pocket to pull out the anti-sentinel ammo Siren had suggested that he carry. If it could punch a hole through one of those tin cans, maybe it could do this too.

“Try and see if you can listen for the team, or try and keep your eyes on them…Are they okay?”, he questioned the young woman beside him, hoping that’d she’d not be completely scared stiff. He exhaled slowly and took a few shots with the anti-sentinel rounds, hoping that the sounds that echoed through the area would make their position hard to triangulate. Either way, they wouldn’t be able to stay there long.

The anti-sentinel rounds made a bigger boom, but also seemed to fail at damaging the net. The tree branches that held Flairer in the air slowly lowered her to the ground whereas Forrest simply walked off the edge of the branch. Tall grass reached up from the ground to catch him, as if comprised of fingers, and lowered him safely to the ground as well. He shouldered his weapon not long after, trying to suppress his own anxiety. The plant life made him feel better, but he kind of wanted to throw up still. “I think something is blocking our communications… If bullets can’t get into the force field, I don’t think we can either. We need to get help.”

Maybe if they got far enough from the base their comm’s would start working again.

xAfter changing into their uniforms, the trio met up again, and Charlie couldn’t help noticing the sleek, armored design of Kerrigan’s suit. He tried to convince the redhead that he needed a uniform more like hers, his really didn’t provide as much protection as he’d like… But was told that he would need to prove he was worth the cost first. “Alright,” he replied after considering what Kerrigan had said for a moment “Let’s see how it goes...”

The friendly smile that had come hand in hand with his words soon faded when they heard a loud crash, and the mall suddenly roared into a panic. A message over their comms informed them that a sentinel had landed, and as Christian’s mood grew dim, Charlie’s almost instinctively lightened. He joked about fighting giant robots and Kerrigan was quick to scold him for not taking the situation seriously.

He assured the Omegas’ second-in-command that he was focused - that he wasn’t just screwing around and she could count on him to be at his best - and it seemed to smooth things over. His friend leaned in to whisper to him. Busted. Charlie shot a slight grin in the werewolf’s direction and shrugged. They’d only just met Kerrigan so they couldn’t know what they could get away with, or how they were supposed to act. He was just glad to see he’d been able to chase off Christian’s grim mood. And after a brief discussion over which way the food court was, Charlie suggested they move against the frightened civilians who were undoubtedly running away from the sentinel.

They fought through the crowd, the panic did make it easier to spot the MRD soldiers around the mall. They were unsurprisingly calm amongst the chaos. And it likely made the Omegas just as easy to pick out. Even if they hadn’t been in uniform, moving toward the danger rather than away from it would have been a dead giveaway. But still, it wasn’t easy to avoid the soldiers, and they quickly ran into a few. Charlie paused and his companions did as well. He didn’t let his demeanor crack. To say he wasn’t afraid would be a lie, he had always had a light-hearted way about him, but he wasn’t stupid. And it was his first time on a real mission. Put him in an octagon for a one on one fight, no problem. That was easy, he had the experience, there were weight divisions, rules, round lengths, etc… Being in the middle of chaos was a far cry from what he was used to.

It wasn’t that he wasn’t afraid, or that he was overconfident due to inexperience. He was focused, and adrenaline was surging through him. It kept him going strong as they engaged the MRD they had run into. He was glad they were matched evenly in numbers. And couldn’t help getting at least a little excited when he took down his first real enemy - outside of a simulation.

Christian’s transformation had been disturbing at first but the probability sensor had grown used to it over their friendship. As used to it as he could anyway. It was always a little unsettling, but he was too focused on not getting cuffed or tranq’d to see the transformation this time anyway.

After taking down the MRD he had been fighting, he glanced to each of his companions and Kerrigan ordered them to keep moving. The two followed without question, Charlie giving the large wolf a slight grin when he barked at him. They would always make sure the other was okay, and would never leave each other behind. It was a trust they had built up over the years. If there was one person that Charlie knew he could always count on, it was Christian.

That was why there had been no question about who they would pair up with for this mission. They weren’t easy to separate. But Charlie also felt lucky that Kerrigan had teamed up with them. She gave the vibe of a seasoned soldier, and undoubtedly had an excess of experience. She knew what she was doing, and stepped into the role of the trio's leader without skipping a beat. Charlie wasn’t sure what they would have done without her, and doubted they would have fared so well on their own.

She was nothing if not a force to be reckoned with. As they moved toward the food court and she faced enemies head on, he started to wonder if it had been a mistake to bet on himself in the match they were going to have. Maybe Christian had been right after all. Though there was no way he was backing out. Seeing her in action only made him look forward to it more. If he lost, at least it was only ten bucks…

Shockwaves rolled through the food court as they arrived, and Charlie’s gaze found the sentinel that some of his teammates - and someone who wasn’t in uniform - were already fighting. But while those with more heavy hitting abilities did what they could to stop the giant robot, Charlie and his companions fell into more of a crowd control role. They did what they could to help any civilians out, and hold off any MRD soldiers. And as the civilians thinned out, the MRD became more prominent in the area, and more of a problem.

Soon enough, Narcissa called for the trio to escort Aren out of the mall. Kerrigan remained the lead of the small group, directing them to their teammate. Christian was the first to spot Aren, and took off in his direction. In his wolf form, he could bowl over anyone in his way, and he was fast. It left Charlie and Kerri to follow after him though, for the most part, the large wolf cleared the way for them.

When they caught up with the teammate they were supposed to be providing protection detail for, Charlie let him know that they were there to watch his back. He seemed glad to have the help, and the trio saw to it that no enemies got too close to the size shifter.

As long as he was up against one soldier, he could hold his own. Two was iffy but so far he had managed. Luckily he hadn’t had to face three on one yet. His ability was utilized sparingly, only when he really needed the help. He was sure Kerrigan and Christian were doing most of the heavy lifting, and it was slightly discouraging. He had to remind himself that it was his first real mission, and that he didn’t have an ability like Christians. His required more finesse, more experience. He would just have to train harder, and maybe when he had more missions under his belt he would stand on equal ground with the redhead.

At some point they were held up and didn’t make it out of the mall with their teammate.

Narcissa called for a full evacuation, but both Charlie and Christian paused when Kerrigan paged two of their teammates instead of moving out. When one of them revealed that she wasn’t out of the mall yet, the redhead told the boys that they couldn’t leave their teammates behind. She must have been a friend of Kerrigan’s. If it were Christian, Charlie wouldn’t be able to leave him behind. So he gave Kerrigan an understanding nod. He would follow her back into the chaos to help their teammates out. Christian cracking his knuckles signified that he was willing as well.

“Lead the way, Knoxx.” A friendly smile brightened his face before they took off again.

Christian again was faster than them in his wolf form, and he ran off ahead of them. When he found the two he ran over to them, and Charlie and Kerrigan met up with the three as the werewolf was trying to communicate through sign language. Even Charlie wasn’t sure what he was trying to say, and couldn’t help a small grin, but Kerrigan’s response to the girls was enough to confirm that they were the Omegas that the trio had been searching for. He gave the girls a smile but let Kerrigan do the talking. She knew them, and introductions were probably best saved for later.

The werewolf was still trying to communicate with their teammates when he suddenly whipped around. Someone had managed to hit him with a tranquilizer dart. Charlie’s attention swiftly turned to the MRD that had taken the shot.
“You alright, bud?” he asked his friend. but doubted the large wolf had heard him as he ripped a cash register up and flung it at the soldier.

Well, he was a little angry…

Charlie backed up to make sure he was out of Christian’s way. And noticed, right before the register took the MRD out, he’d panicked and shot another dart in their direction. It missed Christian, but Charlie had to dodge out of the way. His friend may still have been going but he was sure he wouldn’t last long if hit by the dart, judging by what he had seen. He hadn’t been hit but…

He hadn’t realized how close he was to one of the girls (Gracie), and bumped into her as she’d been giving the werewolf her approval.
“Whoops!” Was the reflexive response he gave, turning his head to assure her hadn't knocked anyone over. First impressions…

At least he hadn’t been sedated?

((Let me know if the post needs to be edited))

Alex nodded and smiled over at Luke. “Thanks.” She said simply, her mind still trying to figure out exactly what she saw. She wished the strange object hadn’t up and disappeared. Then, maybe she could have gotten more of a hint of what was going on. Maybe a particular noise or the sight of a familiar object could have given her the clues needed to figure out what was going on. But, the sighting had ended way too quickly for her to do a thing. “Right.”

She needed Luke’s reminder more than she knew. She took a deep breath and did her best to get her focus back on Bella and Leonardo’s groups. As she did so, Alex noticed the progress of the groups in terms of getting in there and freeing the mutants. She sighed in relief at seeing that their mission seemed to be on the right track. Albeit with an unknown thing hanging about all of their heads.

The sound of gunfire caused her to cringe. She didn’t think she would ever get used to the sound. “Alright.” She kept her sight enhanced as she quickly shifted her gaze across the prison camp. Soon, her eyes landed on one of the watchtowers, seeing guards shooting their guns at Bella’s group. “There! The watchtower on the left side closest to us. That is where it is coming from.” She hoped Luke would be able to take it from there and help Bella’s group out.

However, Luke couldn’t get a hold of Bella. Alex raised an eyebrow before fiddling with her own comm. “Siren? Do you read me? Me and Forrest need you to respond.” She frowned when all she got was static. “Siren?” She tried again only to get the same static sound coming through the comm. “Sorry. My comm is not working either.” She told Luke while her frown grew more.

If the odd sighting hadn’t unnerved her, the fact the comms stopped working really did the trick. She never recalled a time she couldn’t reach one of her teammates via the comms. Now, she personally experienced the sense of being detached unexpectedly and not liking the feeling. She took a series of deep calming breaths to calm down her racing heart. Nerves would do her no good in trying to figure out what was going on.

Unfortunately, the sound of something similar to canon fire caused her to jumped a bit. “What is that?” She asked as she stared at an object falling onto the base. Quickly, she enhanced her sight to see electricity arcing along the edges of the object. “That is not good.” She said more to herself than to Luke. When she noticed the prison camp disappear from her sight, she gulped. “Oh no.” She tried to remember what might cause such an occurrence. Only when she noticed Luke’s bullet bounce off seemingly nothing did she figure out what happened.

“It is a barrier.” She didn’t care if she said something others might call a no-brainer. She felt compelled to say what had just occurred out in the open. “The rest of our team…they are…they are trapped in there….” Alex frowned and trembled. She didn’t know if Dice and Siege were amongst those trapped inside the barrier. But, if they were, then she and Luke were the only ones able to escape the trap. “We have to do something!” She said in a panicked manner.

Before she could go further, Luke’s voice calmed her enough to follow his instruction. Once again, she tried to see past the barrier. No matter how hard she tried, she could see nothing but open wilderness. The barrier completely cut her off from seeing Bella’s or Leonardo’s teams. Then, she took deep breaths to make it easier for her to concentrate on switching enhancement from her sight to her hearing. After she did that, she tried to listen to anything within that direction.

The only noise she heard was Luke’s gun. “Forrest…I am getting nothing.” Even as she cringed and bit her lip at hearing the gun so loudly now, she tried her best to make sure she didn’t miss a single sound. Just hearing someone breathing in that direction would have sufficed. “I am getting nothing at all.” Unfortunately, she couldn’t even be granted that much.

Slowly, she felt herself lowered to the ground. She lessened the enhancement on her hearing to make it bearable to her. But just in case, she kept some enhancement to make sure she and Luke didn’t get someone sneaking up on them. By now, she forced back the panic through sheer will and determination to help her team. However, she couldn’t stop the faint trembling of her hands or make the frown go away from her face. The main signs she still felt the weight of the sudden change on her shoulders.

“Y-you are right.” She managed to say with only a hint of a nervous stutter. “Our powers are not meant to break through barriers.” She took one long deep breath to make concentrating on their new task easier. “I will do my best to make sure we are able to get away and not get caught. You do your best to keep reaching someone back at the underground base and get us the help we need.” She surprised herself at being able to suggest something sensible in her current state of mind. She guessed determination could override fear in some cases.

Once she made sure she didn’t hear anyone coming, she walked in a direction away from the prison camp. She would run normally. She just had a feeling walking would make less noise and make it harder for anyone to find her and Luke. Hopefully, they could get said help before anything bad happened to their imprisoned teammates.

Alice had to bite back the laugh in her throat. He may act all tough, but that sweet gent did miss her, she knew he did. He was just being sarcastic as all hell. And honestly, she needed that. She needed normal, after what she had witnessed. She only smirked at him out of the corner of her eye. She couldn’t believe that they were catching up right now, in a time like this. It was hardly appropriate, considering the chaos around them.

“Yeah, I’ll tell you about it when there aren’t so many eyes and ears.”

She bit back another laugh when she mentioned the pictures. “I’ll be sure to sort them into separate piles.” She shook her head and reached up to push her hair out of her face and catch a few stray strands that fell to the shaved side of her head. Her eyes were on the fighting, careful to track the movement of any other MRD’s that may enter the area and start something. She nodded as she reached up and clapped her hands together. A wave shot at one of the MRDs that Blake had stopped in their tracks, a gun exploding into nothing in their hands as they tried to draw it. A few of the darts that held the serum stuck into their hands and she smirked as they squealed in pain like an animal caught in a bear trap.

She wanted to talk to Blake about the Academy, and what happened there, but the giant sentinel b*****d standing in their midst was obviously a bit more important than a backstory that she could hear about later. Right now, they needed to work together as a team to take this thing down. And honestly, their plan, though unspoken, was a good one. In theory. However, execution ended with her having at least two broken ribs.

She ached as she hit the floor, the shock of the impact, shooting up her body and making her nearly bite her tongue as she almost screamed. It was like her own powers shot through her body and tore her apart. But at the same time, her head was punishing her.
Dammit, Alice, you’re not weak. This is physical pain. You can handle this. You’ll be sore for a few days, rub some dirt in it and walk it off. You. Are. Not. Weak.

She looked up when a shadow loomed over her to see that it belonged to another member of the group. She nodded, agreeing that he take her. He was snarky, and honestly, it made her feel a little better. She needed something to focus on. “God, I hope not or else I got a lot of dead dogs, broken trucks, and shattered hearts to account for.” She focused on tugging her gloves onto her hands, flexing her fingers when they were safely in place. “Don’t wanna slap you on the back and break your scapula.” She wiggled her fingers at the native.

Her eyes almost went black with annoyance instantly as she looked at him.
“Don’t even think about tossing me around like a sack of potatoes, I’ll disintegrate your kidneys.” She relaxed quickly after the angry words slipped out of her mouth. She felt a little sorry, she was pretty harsh, but she wasn’t going to apologize. She was cranky and in pain. It should be understood that she would be a little lippy.

Her shoulders shrugged, forcing her to hiss in pain from the movement.
“Jesus, I’m not even going to be able to sleep right after all this. Better have some good drugs in medical.” She shook her head. “I’m not worried about a fan service. If there is one thing that crazy girls don’t expect, it’s an even crazier breed of crazy.” She might hand out black eyes over glitter bombs. They’ll learn. Eventually.

Her eyes shot to Aren as he mentioned her ‘purse’ and she fought the urge to reach up and flick him in the throat.
“It’s a backpack, you a**.” She kept herself pretty well quiet after that, letting the other two duke it out when they reached Blake. Honestly, she was relieved to see him, because it meant that she was going home.

She moved carefully as she was switched to stay with a different keeper. She looked down at the damage that was done to her body and hear the sound that was sucked through Blake’s teeth.
“That’s really helpful. Great support. You’re supposed to say ‘Nah, it’s fine, sug, you’re gonna live.’” She was sure to provide the best-worst southern accent she could as she mocked him. Her eyes dropped as she looked at him. “You’re bad at convincing people. Good thing you’re a mutant and not a salesman.”

She moved with him, albeit slowly, but she was trying at least. As they got closer to the portal though, there was something that caught Blake’s attention. They were missing people. Team members. Her eyes looked around the area. There were a lot of people she didn’t know. Or if she did, she didn’t remember them. But when the southerner mentioned Gambit getting her to the infirmary she shook her head. “Dammit, Cowboy, you’re not thrusting me off on someone else and going to fight the bad guys. I ******** up when I left. I shouldn't have. And I'm not doing it again, leaving people behind and risking their lives for my own surivival. You can't make me do that.” She started reaching for her gloves. “I can still help.”

Her eyes went to a female that moved in close and started talking to her. She narrowed her eyes. “Charlotte, no offense or anything. Safety protocol and all, but I’m not weak and I’m sure as hell ain’t broken. And I’m not jumping through that portal until everyone else is clear. If you wanna stay and babysit me, that’s fine, but don’t expect a tip for your services.” She finished tugging off her gloves and shoved them deep into her pockets. “You’ll have to drag me, kicking and screaming, into the portal. And trust me. The last thing you want is to take a boot to the chest.”

Leonardo was glad to see that Landslide was so eager to step up to the plate. Although, sometimes, Leo wasn’t sure if her enthusiasm was authentic, or if it was just a way to cope with the stress of the mission. Either way, the animal mimic watched her very closely as she started to focus on her ability, careful not to distract her, but being close enough so that he could held a supporting hand if needed. In his head, he was already thinking of how he would attack by himself – he didn’t know the pure scope of Landslide’s abilities, but he knew that this was still pretty big, even for someone with experience.

While Tara was working on the wall, a communication came over the waves from Bella – one that worried Leo immensely. There was something coming… flying apparently, from the siren’s description. His head moved as if on a swivel, pointing to the direction of where Bella described the ‘thing’ as being. His eyesight strained, but he couldn’t see anything. No Sentinels, no fighter jets or drones… nothing. There was something though… something ominous, causing the hair on the back of his neck to stand up. His eyes fluttering shut, he took a deep breath and tried to listen for anything out of the ordinary. For some strange reason, he was feeling something… familiar.

And then he heard it, faintly. The rumble of the engines – the same ones that used to put him to sleep most nights for nearly three years. It was a helicarrier, more specifically, a SHIELD helicarrier. They were here, and not by accident or coincidence. Leo’s eyes widened as everything started to click. The fact that the perimeter defenses were lacking should have resonated with him sooner. This had been too easy.

This was –

His thought was completed for him as Katerina appeared with Julian and the one prisoner – a ******** trap. Just then, the wall came crumbling down, as did all of their plans. Leo sucked in a quick breath as he tapped his earpiece, broadcasting to all of the Alphas: “Abort, abort! Everyone get out of there right now!” The thought that he might have been superseding any sort of order Bella might have given didn’t even cross his mind. Right now, the only thing he was focused on was getting everyone out of there – alive. No sooner had he given the order to evacuate when the electric barrier dropped from the camouflaged helicarrier and surrounded the entire prison. Unfortunately, his group had managed to be just inside of the barrier’s range, so for now, they were trapped.

“Dammit,” he muttered under his breath, the gears in his mind working overdrive to figure out what to do. He desperately tried to suppress the fear that was rising in his chest – they were trapped, and he knew better than probably anyone on the Alphas just how good SHIELD’s containment fields were. Katerina was speaking, but it was mostly things he already knew – they had to escape. Although, he found it slightly interesting that they actually had a prisoner for their trap… one that Leonardo immediately did not trust. He could be a mutant, sure, but he might not be on their side.

“Can we trust him?” Leo asked Katerina, pointing to the man they had brought along. An ironic question, he knew, since he was asking someone that he didn’t trust at all.

Suddenly, Leo could hear his and Kat’s codenames being said by Aurelie over his earpiece, worry laced within her words. His stomach flipped – he had no idea where the other team was and how they were faring. Not wasting any time, Leo pressed his earpiece into his ear as he started speaking rapidly. “Allegra – get everyone inside and isolated. The best thing we can do right now is not captured and build a defense until we can figure out a way to get rid of the containment field.” Taking his finger off of his earpiece, he looked to Katerina and Julian. “You guys were in there. Is there anything we would be able to barricade ourselves in?” Leonardo had looked over the blueprints for the prison, sure, but that was nothing compared to having boots-on-the-ground intelligence.

He also knew that at some point, his group would probably have to link up with Bella’s inside of the prison. They were too exposed out here, just lying down in the brush. If they hadn’t been spotted yet, they were going to be soon, and trees such as these weren’t such great cover when it came to firefights. There were other thoughts swirling around in the back of his mind, like: How could they have been this stupid? Where was their intelligence coming from? Why did it fail them? How bad was this situation, really? Those things had to all be pushed to the side, as Leo was focused on only one thing: getting everyone out of there alive.

Looking up, he spotted the helicarrier, its camouflage now deactivated since there was no more need for it. If he could get inside, and if nothing much had changed in the past few years with helicarriers, he might be able to deactivate the shield and get everyone out of there. The fact that there was a teleporter next to him was probably the first thing that stuck to his mind. Depending on how many people Julian could take with him, Leo could take a small strike team up to the carrier and take out the barrier. The question was, who would be the best people to take up there? Katerina was, surprisingly, one of the first names that came to mind. That woman hated SHIELD probably more than she hated Hydra, so Leo knew that she would have no qualms with the chance to rip into some government agents. Not to mention her training in infiltration would come in handy.

There was no time to nitpick and figure out who should go and who shouldn’t. Quickly, he turned to Julian. “How many of us would you be able to take up to that helicarrier at once?” They needed up get up there, and fast.

Then again, how many people actually got to retire from the X-men game? Daylia gave a half sad sigh followed by a frown. "Oh well."

Once on the other side of the tingly portal the pair made their way to the mall, and their first stop, the food court. They jested back and forth about Daylia's eating habits, and that Gracie was going to have to do something to stop herself from gaining weight. At the mention of her friend possibly ingesting a parasite to keep with with her own eating habits, D agreed, albeit reluctantly, to work out with the dark haired girl so she wouldn't have to do that.
"Oh yeah, constantly being woken up at three am wouldn't be torture for me at all." She said with a sigh. "Can we just like, do it before bed or something?" She whined. At least there were a few pluses to that, one being awake already, the second tuckering herself out for a good night sleep. She gave her friend a firm nod as she reiterated what friends wouldn't let friends do.

After their lunch was finished, they began their shopping spree though the mall. Daylia made the mistake of asking Grace to help her find a sense of style in return for helping her look for pants that show off her assets. Unfortunately the hex witch threatened to get the red queen involved if D refused to try on the wears she suggested.
"But it would be." Daylia whined. "Could you imagine her standing over your shoulder going, 'No, not that. Not that either. Nope.'?" She asked, doing her best to imitate Narcissa. Though as her dark haired counterpart went on, Daylia couldn't help but shake her head in horror. "Oh my god, shopping with her would be worse." She said before acting out the scene. "'I'm not going into that store. How about this one?' 'I can't afford anything in this one. How about here?' 'I'm not going where the mundane shop, ew.'" She said, switching between her own role and that of Cissa. "I will pass on that time consuming event, thank you." She said as she snatched the clothes the other woman had picked out for her.

Just as they were ready to find a fitting room, some of the MRD's tracked them into the store. The pair ducked into a now vacant dressing room. Was it the best idea? Probably not. After all, in every horror movie you never wanted to be in an enclosed space with only one exit, but what other choice did they have? With no bodily harm done to one another, they managed to get their uniforms on, all whilst debating on what story they could spread and about who. They had settled on monkey boy.
"Not everyone with a tail. Nightcrawler? I think I'd let him whip me with his tail." Daylia said. She couldn't explain what she found so intriguing about the older mutant, but the infatuation was there regardless.

Gracie brought up the Superman comics, and Daylia threw in the fact that there were hardly any phone booths left.
"Hey, Maroon 5 isn't as obsolete as that, the lead singer, Adam whatever, is still kinda hot... Now if Superman was like Wonderwoman, he wouldn't have to worry about finding a place to change..." Daylia said before she paused in her search for the activation pose of her uniform. "Why are men so dumb with those kinds of things? I mean, she found a way around it, why couldn't he?"

It wasn't long after the superman debate that they activated their uniforms. They tossed some lines to the man outside who had decided to beat on the door to the dressing room in hopes to make him stop for a moment as they debated on a plan. Eventually Daylia decided it might be safer to go through the back wall. She wasn't all that confident in her ability to get them both through, but decided not to let Gracie in on the lack of self faith. They went for it, and actually made it all the way into the next room. It took a lot more out of Chameleon than she thought it would, and had to pause for a moment to catch her breath, and was all too grateful when Jinx handed her a bottle of water.
"I see no cows here, just a very thirsty woman." Daylia responded once the bottle was away from her lips. She pushed the thought of puking to the back of her mind. All she knew at that moment was that she was thirsty, and wishing she was deaf to the sirens going off.

After a quick threat and rest in the employee break room, the two were off again, this time in search of the food court, where apparently all the action was taking place. Daylia couldn't help but state the obvious, which Emlen seemed to agree with.
"True, but at least I'm with my own team this time, and not the alphas." She said lowly. They took their best guesses in the halls, hoping that they were picking the right road to lead them to the rest of the team. Though as they reached the food court, it became obvious they were not getting out that way, at least not with Daylia slowing them down. She cursed under her breath as Gracie confirmed that it was a war they had heard through the halls.

"God I hope there is." She wasn't going to tell Gracie just how exhausted she was, knowing that the other woman was able to tell some of it. Now they were going to have to double back and find another exit. They paused long enough for Jinx to get a message to Narcissa, making D feel even worse about her condition. "Sorry." Daylia mumbled to Gracie, knowing that she was the reason the southern bell was still stuck in the building. She didn't bother to radio their leader, knowing that she would get an ear full once they got back safe.

She couldn't help but complain about the lack of maps in the employee area.
"Maybe... But what about new employees? They're not going to know on day one." Daylia asked. She gave a rough sigh as she shook her head. This seemed to be more trouble than it may have been worth. No, saving innocent people is never too much trouble. She corrected, reminding herself as to why they had been there in the first place.

A brow rose in Emlen's direction as she mentioned a moose.
"I would so be down for that plan. I've always wanted to ride a moose. I'd look majestic as ******** style="color: #ca0404"> She said, a small grin crossing her face. "No one would ******** with me then."

Finally they found an exit, but with that came another pause as they planned out the next move. Daylia made her best suggestion, and attempted to call her power into play once again. It was slow to spread, but if she pushed herself, maybe she could at least get Gracie out. Maybe make up for having her stuck in the first place. Though Emlen questioned the plan, and Daylia let her power fade from her wrist down.
"Probably not..." She admitted, unable to lie to her friend. "But, you shouldn't be stuck here because of me."

She gave pause as Jinx offered up a new plan.
"That could work." She said, agreeing to the other woman's plan. Though before they could put the plan into action, Kerri's voice came through her com, asking about their position.

"Dude, your guess is as good as mine." Daylia responded as she held her wrist unit to her mouth. Thankfully Gracie had a better response to their red headed friend, giving Knoxx an approximate distance from the food court. Kerri messaged them back, telling the pair that they were on the way. "Thanks, you're a doll." Daylia said as a smile crossed her lips.

She looked to Gracie for a moment, the exhaustion showing fully on her face now.
                                                                  "Guess we get an escort."

Not long after the brief conversation with Kerri, a large dog thing came their way. She blinked several times trying to discern what exactly the creature was. She cast a questioning glance to Gracie before watching the ungraceful creature slam into a wall. She winced for him.
"From that display, I'd say he lost his seeing eye human." She couldn't help but giggle at the comment about his uniform. She was too tired to even feel bad about it, or to even try to conceal it.

She shook her head slowly as the animal began to sign to them. With another questioning glance to her partner in crime, she opened her mouth again.
"What is it Lassie, did Timmy fall down the well again?" She asked as she looked back to the semi-human creature. She made a few of her own hand gestures before throwing her hands up in a shrug as she shook her head again. There was no hope in Daylia understanding what he was saying with his paw hand things, and apparently Gracie felt the same way. The dark haired woman had been the one that was kind enough to tell him neither understood. "Sorry."

Unfortunately the joking came to an end when Sparky was shot by one of the oh so lovely MRD's. Oh that did not make doggie happy, which was pretty evident when he threw a cash register at the man. The rest of the rescue team had popped up just in time to see the event.
"Ouch." Daylia said at the same time Gracie said nice. "Guess you checked him out." She said before giving way to a fit of giggles. "Get it?" She asked as she looked to Gracie, only to see the newbie bump into her. Another giggle bubbled forth. "Watch out Jinx, I think someone is trying to hit on you." She said lowly. Oh how the exhaustion was beginning to catch up with her. "I know, I know, to the shame corner with me when we get back."

"Heyyy." Daylia said, greeting the more experienced Omega of the trio that came to get them.

Her eyes went back to her partner in crime as she asked if the wolf could carry her.
"I don't think he's going to be able to carry me and himself." She said as she shook her head. "He just got hit with a dart, and while it may not take him down..." She stopped for a moment, forgetting exactly where she was going with her train of thought. She shook her head again. "He's gotta worry about getting himself to the portal." She paused for a moment reflecting on how badass it would be to ride a wolf. "It would be interesting, certainly more ferocious than a moose... But I don't think that's going to happen today." She said, some remorse in her voice.

"We, just... Go." She said, pointing in the direction that Knoxx and company had come from. Daylia had made it maybe a yard before stopping. She could feel the salvia grow in her mouth as her throat became slick. She looked to Kerri first then Gracie. "You may have been right about... That water..." She said slowly as her stomach began its revolt.

She turned away from the group and bent forward, her mouth open, unleashing the contents of her stomach to the ground. No sound came forth, except for the splash of liquid and food bits hitting the grass before her. She gave a slight gasp before the second wave hit. She attempted to pull any stray hair out of her face to the back of her head, knowing that it was better not to fight it. Once the second wave was over, she spit out the remainder from her mouth, trying in a vain attempt to clear out the nasty taste of bile.

"Aww, there went my pretzel and burrito." Daylia whined. before looking back to her group. She then focused on the dog creature. "Please don't eat that."

                                                                      User Image
