Yuan silently scowled at Rhone and his suggestion, baring gritted teeth. His hand to his chin, Kratos creased his brow into a look of disapproval.

Azura folded her arms as she observed how the childlike spirit reacted to Rhone's proposal, turning her head and watching as he stood before the holographic projection of the vortex in a defiant manner. "Oh, will you look at that. Seishin's actually opposed to the idea for some reason." She sounded a bit confused because for someone who found himself somewhere that is definitely not home, she thought he'd be dying to find a way back.

As she turned and cocked an eyebrow at the tall and dark elf, the lasers projecting the holographic image of the vortex began to power down. "Which is just as well," she continued, "because I'd actually recommend against it. World-jumping does kind of inspire a spirit of recklessness, but it's also important to exercise caution. Portal magic and magitech draws truly massive amounts of energy, you see. When I'd conjure portals with my friend, we always make them go to or from our home world of Gaia because it actually has the issue of an overabundance of energy, and we can make the portals draw energy from there. But making a portal that connects Aselia and---er, where was it that he said he came from...?" She raised a hand to snap her fingers, mentally cursing her faulty memory.

"Rieze Maxia and Elympios," Kratos reminded.

"Right, thank you. As I was saying, making a portal that connects this world and those might endanger either one. Even if we made it draw energy from both places, the drain would still be immense. You may be magic, but I doubt you are made of endless energy." At the end of her statement, she was holding her hand out as if expecting something to be placed into it. The spider-like pieces of the device were making their way back to her while she was speaking, and by now they were crawling up her side to reform into its card-like shape upon reaching her hand. Putting it back into her coat pocket, she continued, "Secondly, you're proposing to pull that sh*t when we're practically next to the f*cking Tree? Seriously?" Having learned the importance of the World Tree from Kratos, Rhone's suggestion sounded all the more audacious, which is why she was taken aback enough to use a bit of crude language.

Mentally brushing aside said crude language, Yuan sighed in relief and nodded in appreciation and agreement before he slid into the conversation. "Thank you. Yes, astounding that someone actually not a native of this world would be considerate enough to think ahead that much." He narrowed his eyes at Rhone. "You can say that whatever may come out of the portal could be short work for us, but that doesn't mean that's exactly what's going to happen."

Kratos countered, "Technically, provided they're not beings like most of us present, any incoming invaders should immediately become suppressed by the barrier spell set around the World Tree. However, Azura's point about the energy requirement for the portal still stands. The drain might even dispel the barrier. Thus, I advise against the idea as well."

((Imagine we're viewing this as a game cutscene and the cusswords are replaced with bleeps. That's what I mean by the asterisks. XD))

The two teenagers seemed to have made their decisions. Not really having any reason to protest, and not wanting to, Gaius entered the inn and walked up to the counter. He set Serenity on her feet, but kept an arm out so he could support her if she needed it. He looked at the elderly woman that tended the counter. "Three beds, ma'am, if there are any available." The woman smiled up at him before stating the price the inn cost. One hundred gald wasn't so bad at all. Then again, gald was never an issue for him.

Arianna glanced behind her to see Arlin on edge. She couldn't help but smile at it, though. He must really care for Natalia to be this uneasy about leaving her behind. When he turned his attention to her and asked about her Pokémon, Arianna looked forward. "You already know Hōpu and Efreet, the...dragon from earlier. He's a Charizard, as I believe I mentioned. Anyway, I have seven of the Eevee evolutions. I have the eighth as well, but she wasn't with me when I was brought here." Arlin probably had no idea what an Eevee was, or it's evolutions. Arianna smiled a bit. "Aqua and Glacius, the Vaporeon and Glaceon from before. They're evolved from Eevees. Eevee is a special kind of Pokémon that can evolve into several different Pokémon, depending on the conditions at the time of it's evolution. It was a lot of work getting the full set, but I did it. Anyway, I'll introduce them to you and the others when we're out of the city. I suppose I could introduce Ignis....He's the most calm of the group. Tends to avoid causing trouble. If you'd like."

Serenity stood next to Gaius, though her legs seemed to be holding her up fine. Still, she didn't dare move in case she actually needed that arm of his. She looked over at Hubert and smiled a bit. "Yes. I'm fine. I'm not dizzy anymore and I don't feel so sick either." Could she walk? Serenity hesitated before decided to take a few steps to test it. It looked like she could walk again. That was great! She didn't need to be carried anymore. Serenity would still have to lay down a bit, though, just to make sure.

Natalia listened as Sophie praised her friends, or family as she called them. They sounded like good people, though she seemed most fond of someone named Asbel. The girl spoke of him greatly. Natalia had to wonder if she'd get the chance to meet him. "Being able ti sympathize with your enemy is a trait not many people have. I can't even do that, so I envy this Asbel. What of your other friends? You mentioned a Cheria, and a Richard earlier. You said he's a king?"

Right. Her dragon-like companion from before. Efreet sounded like a very powerful name, and suited the beast nicely. When she explained the others she had with her, as well as this Eevee creature, Arlin was amazed. One creature could change into eight different forms of itself. "Ignis....If you truly want to bring him out, I have no objections to meeting him."






Hubert was relieved Serenity was recovering. That attack looked like it should have crippled her. He walked into the room after Serenity and went to sit on a bed. He listened to Gaius and nodded. "Indeed. Now would be a good opportunity. Our first order of business would be to find a way back to our own worlds. To do that, though, we'd have to find out how those vortexes opened...."

All was a blur to her in her stupor-like state. Anything that Pascal could recall from her crash landing on this foreign land felt like a nightmare gone wrong. The portals that swamped the Ephinean seas, her Fodran shuttle being engulfed by darkness and her missing friends felt like icy cold stabs at her heart. The cold, hardwood floor that pressed against her cheek was no help to her state at all, not to mention the warren of dust bunnies that kept her company under the bed.
Hrmm . . . my head, my guts-- everything feels like blargh . . .
Amidst her drowsy state, she could hear the soft murmurs of others whilst being accompanied by the squeaks of an old hardwood floor. The bed that
shielded her from the light sunk above her, matched with a faint but familiar voice. Squinting her eyes, she could make out the outline of a boot from the glaring light.
Groggily, she grabbed the shadowed object by the heel. "H-Hey . . . Wuzzal th' ruckus up thar?"

Arianna smiled a bit before grabbing a Poké Ball and calling Ignis out. The Flareon appeared and scratched behind his ear before letting out a happy call, jumping a few times and circling Arianna. She knelt and pet him. "Hey, Ignis. Glad to see you're alright. I want you to meet someone. This is Arlin. Say hi to him, and be nice." "Flare~!" Ignis went over and sniffed Arlin before yipping and jumping in circles around him, too. Arianna laughed a bit. "He likes you."
