Well damn. The pain hurt, but adrenaline and instinct now overwhelmed it. These people were obviously out to blood and Finnegan wasn't about to let it be his.

Acting only on trained instinct, Finnegan, still in his downed position, flipped the knife, pinched the blade, and threw it at the man in one, swift movement.

The moment the knife left his hand, he did the best he could to get out of the way should the knife somehow miss.

Elizabeth, under no current attacks, nommed.

Clarissa yelped as she hit the floor. Her arms subconsciously came up to her face when her back met the ground, and she was lucky for it. The man's knife was aimed at her neck, but it never reached it since her hands grabbed the oncoming wrist and broke it.

She quickly sat up and bit the junction of the shoulder and neck of the Hispanic soldier.

OM NOM NOM NOM went Elizabeth. As it turned out, the conflict was much too hot for anyone to even notice that she was doing it. She managed to finish the "ordeal" without any further trouble.

In fact, after it was over, she was not troubled any further.

(Finnegan: -2 AP)

Finnegan, by some miracle, managed to do what another man had just done a second earlier. The knife did not make a fatal blow, though; the desperate maneuver merely drove it into the man's dominant arm. This seemed like it was a fairly good thing as Finnegan more or less threw himself onto the ground and out of the way, seeing as the only way he could use his leg was to reinforce it using his Sigil-energy; unfortunately, the enemy was obviously not untrained with this weapon.

After a single curse, the man bent down (he had dropped the weapon), picked it up in his off hand, and brought it back to guard. He wasn't ambidextrous - his position wasn't quite on - but he could still fight. This did, however, give Finnegan time to stand up.

(Clarissa: -2 AP)

Clarissa's instinct-driven defense luckily worked, too; she grabbed the man's hand past the knife (barely avoiding cutting herself), twisted it back hard, then pulled down and dragged the man within rich. Biting into the junction was the final straw; the man was disabled. She'd dealt with her attackers.

Clarissa sat up and saw the three dead soldiers surrounding her on the floor. She had a tiny smile on her face (still crying in a rather scary manner) before she promptly threw up on the bodies.

Hey, no one else was around, and it'd be a waste of food. So she set out to eat her meal in relative peace.

Elizabeth crept up behind Finnegan's opponent, wrapped her arms around him from behind, and performed a German Suplex of Anger.

Helena gave forth a feral growl, but upon seeing the truck her eyes went wide. "Bad day, bad day!" she shouted, turning away from the front door and scrambling farther into the room. Her eyes immediately caught sight of another helpless man- Elizabeth's suplex victim. Laying as he was, Helena couldn't help but dive forward and drop to her knees, blades stabbing at his face.

It was gonna get ugly, but that was the least of her concern right now. Even as she attacked, she shouted, "They've got a machine gun! We've got to get out!"

The room was now empty, save for the dead or the dying. No more soldiers seemed to be interested in coming in.

Now it was time to plan an escape.

Clarissa stopped mid-chew. Machine gun?! People, she could deal with. Bullets...not so much. "Window escape?"

"You mean like I suggested earlier?" Finnegan pointed out bitterly, working on a way to deal with his injured leg.

Helena pointed with one blade toward a window facing the backyard- or what she could only hope would be a backyard, she couldn't quite tell from where she stood. "Yes! Check please, let's go!" Seeing all the soldiers as they were riled up in her the urge to devour, but she swallowed it back down. Survival now was crucial to future feasts. To make it blatantly clear she was serious, Grissom did something she had never once considered doing in her life: she crashed through the window pane, blades to the front and covering her head. It was a rough landing, stumbling and failing to find her feet, and finally flopping on the grass with an oof! The glass had left a number of cuts as well. "********! Such a bad idea!" she realized in retrospect; after all, the movies always used sugar or something much less dangerous for their stunts. Helena obviously hadn't been thinking this plan through.

Helena broke into an alley.

Four soldiers outside the window shouted in surprise. One raised a rifle and fired a burst, missing both Helena and the soldier on the far side. He dropped behind another, who was carrying a - wait, what? Nunchucks? Seriously? That was, however, what he was carrying. He spun them with practiced skill, not moving forward to attack but waiting for her. On her other side, another man with a rifle and one with yet another knife bracketed her in. A wall lay on two sides, a pair of soldiers on the other.

They were, notably, not beyond all of the windows in the house. If the other hosts knew, they could probably get out from behind them...

Hearing the gunshots, Elizabeth immediately pursued (being woefully uninformed of the combined flanking/nomming opportunities), diving through the window and rolling on her shield, allowing herself to slam against the other side of the alley to stop the momentum. Briefly acquainting herself with her surroundings, she ducked, pulling Helena with her, and raised her shield sheltering them against further bullets.

"Keep with me, I'm going to move forward. If the nunchuck guy gets any stupid ideas I can just run him over with my shield," Elizabeth informed Helena, doing as she said and shuffling towards the nunchuck end of the alley.

In the heat of the moment, Helena rolled with it rather well, or so she thought. When Elizabeth came bulling through the window like a flat-nosed rhino, the artist couldn't help but be a little impressed by her, and disappointed in herself; that was a MUCH better idea. She hunkered beside the shield-armed Host and nodded emphatically. "Right behind you. Heave ho!" While they moved, her eyes were fixed on the pair opposite the shield, her blades held up defensively despite the distance.

The two got pretty lucky. Either of the riflemen could probably have begun shooting, except that the nun-chuck man did make a stupid decision.

The problem with Elizabeth's shield was that she couldn't really effectively see what was beyond it. So it came as quite a surprise when it drove itself into the ground as the nun-chuck man came over the shield, one hand on top of it and the other driving a knee into her face. It was a glancing blow, but it still hit. His hand was very, very carefully positioned so as not to be injured by the spikes, Elizabeth noticed on a tangent.

As he came over, he brought his nun-chucks down to strike Helena in the back of her head and shoulders. He himself landed directly between the two, striking a few times at Helena before trying to kick Elizabeth away.

At that moment, there was a very loud noise - the sound of machine-gun fire from just outside the house. The massive .50 caliber rounds punched straight through the house's walls. Everyone still inside hit the deck, and miraculously the bullets missed, but they probably wouldn't be so lucky again.
