"He's...he's a...Vavvian," William shook his head in disbelief. He could SMELL Little Guv on her! She was lying...she had to be! He gave her a final look-over before sighing and smiling.
"Thank you for your time," he said and sauntered off.
He'd be seeing her again. He'd be sure of it...

Pacing outside Rabid's room, Crow was in deep debate with herself.
"Okay. I go in, we talk, la-de-dah, possible bloodshed, I leave."
There was a pause.
"OR, she comes out, we talk, possible bloodshed, most likely another nervous breakdown on my part, and then enough angst to make an emo-kid shake their head in disgust."
There was another pause, longer this time.
"Alright. What the hell. Here goes."
Taking a deep breath as though she was about to enter an execution chamber, Crow knocked on the door.
"Rabid? It's Crow."

Liam stood from his writing at the dining room table and walked to the front of the room, a pen stuck in his mouth. He opened the door to reveal...ah...Crow.
"Actually, it's me," he slurred, "but Rabid'll be right out. Come right in."
Rabid stood in the bathroom, trying to fix her ill appearence with makeup. It wasn't working very well. Upon hearing Liam answer the door, she quickly wiped the gook off her face and peeked out of the room. It was now or never, although she would very much have liked to skip this part of the healing process.

Feeling color rise into her face involuntarily as Liam opened the door, she put a gloved hand to her throat and gave him a shy smile before scooting inside.
Wringing her hands, unaware of sharp nail tips already stabbing through the leather finger tips, she looked around the apartment awkwardly.
"...Hi."

Liam gave a quick wave before retreating back to the table. He'd been asked to stay and keep things sane, although not by Rabid. He was a bit zoned out, but he was sure that the mandatory eventual arterial spray would snap him out of it.
"Hey, Crow," Rabid gave a weak smile as she entered the main room. She motioned for Crow to sit down at a small table situated as far from Liam as humanly possible. A teapot whistled on the stove, and she went to retrieve it. Anything to stall for time.

Taking a seat and ignoring the nervous flutter in her stomach, Crow bit at a newly-exposed claw tip unconsciously and rested her elbows on the table. She was tense as a bowstring - it had taken serious deliberating and arguing with Lenore to force herself down here in the first place.
"So..."
She coughed, trying to ignore how her sudden nervousness had made her mouth go dry.
"Uh. How're things?"

Rabid returned to the table with a black tea set and poured 2 cups before taking her seat.
"Things are...okay. Clemmie's good. Clematis, I mean," she paused for a moment and took a swing of her horrifically strong tea, "How about you?" Her voice turned quite concerned as she said this. With all she'd been going through, she could only imagine how many times worse it was for Crow...

Crow gulped the hot tea down absently, mindful not to slam the cup down like a shot glass as she swallowed.
"That's good. I'm glad she's doing well - Len was a bit worried about her."
Tipping the cup back to catch the dregs of tea at the bottom, she toyed with the cup's handle, thinking.
"Tired. Very....very tired. Haven't had a decent night's sleep since we got back."
Abandoning the tea dregs and setting her cup down quietly, she looked Rabid directly.
"Is...is there anything we can do to fix this?" she asked, her voice tinged with regret.
"I'm not sure if it can be like it was before."

Rabid placed her cup down and sighed, resting her head in her hands.
"I don't know. I really don't know," she said, fighting back sudden tears, "I don't see why it can't...well...yes, I can...but you know what I mean. Neither of us has done anything that d--" She quickly decided there was nothing to say and sniffled a bit. This was a horrible, awful idea...

Crow's eyes twitched into slits and her mouth twisted before she could control herself.
You guilted and shamed me down here, and you're gonna go through with it, dammit! she thought rather poisonously, not caring if Liam heard.
"Let's just get to the brass, alright? You an' me are having a bit of a tough time...adjusting. Th' only way we're gonna get the hell out of this funk is if we either kill something or start talking."
Unable to remain sitting, she pushed her chair away from the table and started pacing.
"And th' only way to do that is to start being honest with each other. I'll go first - the first few days after we got back, I wanted to kill you."
Her voice was raising with passion, buried emotions surfacing at long last.
"And I was gonna do it-" she paused and reached a hand under her frock coat, drawing a long object out from a hidden sheath,
" - with this."
She unsheathed the blue-bladed knife and set it onto the table top. The knife was the twin of its red-colored mate, identical down to the last detail.
Crow looked at Rabid in shame and turned away.
"I wanted to...but I never would have. I swear I never would have hurt you. I'm sure you've felt that way before....right?" she was suddenly deeply disgusted with herself - five minutes into the conversation and she was confessing her desire to murder?
Brilliant. Just freakin' brilliant.

Rabid looked up to Crow as she paced.
"I never wanted to kill you. I wanted to help you any way I could, but I knew you wouldn't let me," she stood, anger growing, "How ignorant do you think I am? I know you hated me. I knew it then and I know it now. I tried to kill myself the night after it happened, Crow. Once again recently. I almost succeeded, too. I felt so goddamned guilty that I'd ruined your life, I actually tried to terminate my existance. You should have." Sure, she was rambling like Hell, but she was finally able to say what she'd wanted to for so long.

Her shame evaporated fairly quickly, replaced with a rather alarming apathy.
"You tried it the night I found Len, didn't you." It was more statement than question. She found breathing steadily to be quite a challenge as she tried to sort through her thoughts...
"Look, I know you wanted to help. You did. You saved me - you and him. You...you....ISHTA!"
She cursed, letting her voice slip into its natural twin tones.
"This was a really bad idea, wasn't it?" she asked dully, picking the knife up off the table and watching the blade shine with its strange internal luminescence.
"I gave it to him, you know. The knife." She balanced it on the tip of her finger by its serrated point, a blatant show of her mental abilities in as non-threatening a manner she could think of.
"It's traditional - the red blade goes to the boy, the blue to the girl. I forget the whole meaning behind it, though..." she said, more to herself than to Rabid, eyes fixed on the blade as she balanced it on her finger.

"Amazing. Really," Rabid glanced at the blade with disinterest, "C'mon. Do it. If it'll help, take a good stab at me. I learned fairly quickly that I'm damned hard to kill. Gun shot residue is a b***h to get out of your hair."
She took a step out from behind the table, her arms spread wide, "C'mon. You know you want to. Go for the heart."
She had no idea what she was doing, or why. Her voice was sympathetic and trembling, but her tone was something else entirely. It was almost sarcastic, although she didn't mean for it to be. Part of her wanted to snap her friend's neck, too.
...ex-friend.

Crow blinked in apathetic surprise.
"Okay."
Every denied feeling, every desperate argument with herself on whether or not to kill...
Forgotten.
Her face twisted into an echo of what the tattoo-seal marks hid - animal-like, cruel, and savage. Crow had seen her real face only once - the memory of it still haunted her.
I wish I could show her.
The knife was clutched in her white-knuckled hand and whistled through the air as she swung it down in a wide arc. It sunk into the flesh of Rabid's chest, and she gave it a twist before yanking it out again.
"There. Guess we're even. You could take a swing at me - don't really give a crap, either way."
She hesitated, wiping the blade off on the tail of her shirt.
"Or do you need a minute to catch you breath?"

"Nope," Rabid said nonchalantly, wincing in pain as the wound healed. She gave a convulsive cough and covered her mouth with her hand. A gob of fresh blood appeared in her palm. She peered down at the wound and, seeing it healed completely, her eyes grew wide. She gave Crow a frightened look, her hands clasped over her mouth, and ran into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her.
Liam stood now, glaring at Crow and trying to keep his breathing even.
"You have 2 minutes," he growled quietly.
