After some walking Strider stopped in an open field and turned. "Ok Jake I am going to teach you..." Strider disappeared. "How to teleport." Strider was behind Jake and had whispered in his ear.

"Yah!" Jake jumped in place and clamped his hands over his ears. The fur on his tail bristled in alarm, but flattened down after a couple of seconds. "Don't do that!" He said, whimpering a little. "You could give somebody a heart attack one day!"

"Sorry. I couldn't resist." Strider laughed a bit. "Now teleporting isn't just dissappearing and reappearing it's a bit more complicated. It's more like you transform yourself into a semi-magical form and use the flow of magic to get to your destination. on Earth this would be much harder due to the lack of magic in many areas. Here though it should be very simple. Now the further you travel the more time it takes for you to reach." Strider thought for a moment. "Though I usually don't have very many problems, maybe cuz' I made the stuf, but anyway you shouldn't be hurt. Now to start you must think of your destination. Like say that flat rock over there." Strider pointed at a large rock with a flat top that could easily be stood upon. "Once you've thought of your destination you have to watch the magic around you and see if you can reach it useing the 'flow'."

Jake glared at him but smiled too. He probably would've done the same thing. "So, it would the flow would look kind of like a river? Or something...?" He mumbled, glancing over at the rock. He took his hands away from his ears and his tail stopped drooping so much. "And I would just follow the trail that the magic makes...to the place I want to go?"

"Yes. It's quit simple when you say it like that but that is pretty much the procedure. Just imagine yourself standing on the rock and will yourself to stand on the rock and the magic shall do the rest." Strider stepped back to allow Jake a try. "Most mortals don't seem to understand that the more you try to control magic the more harm you can do to yourself. Instead the real way to master magic is to allow yourself to flow with it and not against it."

"Kind of like how walking in a river downstream is easier than going upstream?" Jake grinned, then his gaze flicked over to the flat rock. "Okay, I'll try..." He closed his eyes and imagined the top of the rock. It wasn't too far away, just a couple feet or so, so it wouldn't be too hard teleporting over there. He felt the ground leave his feet for a moment and tried not to get scared. Then he felt a solid surface again and he opened his eyes. "I...I did it!" He exclaimed happily, then had to windmill his arms to keep from falling off the edge of the rock he had reappeared on.

Strider appeared beside Jake. "'Fraid not my young friend. You actually went almost half way round the planet." Strider was impressed all the same. He had managed to land on a solid surface much like the other stone but half way around the planet. He was glad he had picked Jake. "Oh and that's not a rock. That is a rock turtle and the like to bite." Strider stepped back a few feet.

"Wha-what?" Jake sputtered, his face going blank. "Halfway...around the...really?" He would have probably kept stammering, but the rock turtle's head came up to scrutinize him balefully. He gulped nervously. Holding his hands up to show he was defenseless, he backed off slowly.

Strider laughed as the turtle began to chase Jake. "Hahaha. Did I forget to mention that Rock turtles run faster than turtles on your planet?" Strider laughed so bad he was starting to cry.

"This isn't funny anymore!" Jake yelled back at Strider, his voice cracking as he ran from the rock turtle. He slipped down it's hard shell, but then thought maybe it would have been smarter to stay on it instead. Though then the turtle would be able to snap at him easier. He continued to run away from it, ducking it's angry head as it lunged at him with his ears up straight and his tail stiff. "Oh-my-god! It's gonna eat meee!"

Strider laughed a bit more and cast a spell of sleep on the turtle. "I'm sorry. Hehehe. That was pretty funny. I'm the one who brought you here actually. Though you were successfull in your teleportaion spell I had to teach you the value of a good laugh. I haven't heard you laugh before. Now come on it's good to laugh at ones self sometimes." Strider smiled at Jake.

"Wh-...You--?" Jake stuttered in disbelief again, then got angry. It wasn't really anger, he was just mad at Strider for fooling him. "How could you--?! I could have been eaten!" He bent and picked up a rock, throwing it at him, but started to laugh anyway. "By a giant turtle! You--!" He laughed harder though, and went to find another rock to throw.

The rock barely missed him. "Hey don't make me wake up that Rock Tortoise again. I'll do it." He dodged another. "Hey your gonna brake my shades." Strider began to laugh himself as he picked up a rock and threw it.

Jake dropped down to the ground and the flying rock barely hit the tip of his ear. "Yeow!" He rubbed it with one hand and returned fire with the other. "I'll knock your shades into next week!" The rock hit Strider's shoe and Jake scrambled to find another.

"Oh yeah? I'd like to see you try." Strider threw another rock. "Your aim isn't as good as mine."
