In the past the Ball has primarily been hosted in the forums, but we have been thinking of expanding it to include many of the various hangouts like towns, zomg, etc. Our main issue seems to be that not everyone is able to access those flash hangouts, but we believe there may be enough of us who can that we can try to incorporate it into our themes. As for music, if you would like to create something like a playlist/soundtrack I would encourage you to use something like playlist.com. It is very possible that we could have that playlist added to the ball mule's profile and/or link it onto one of our threads for our users enjoyment. It could be very fun for everyone to submit various songs that they feel accent our theme. ^^

Damn it Envy! I want your brain D:
And about the teams thing, if we go with that and there are problems of people switching teams, why not disable the ability to switch? Once you're in, we list their name somewhere or something and they are no longer allowed to change teams. Makes things easier for us, and also avoids people suddenly switching when they see their team is losing or something. On the case of people no 'mingling' cause everyone is just there to make sure their team wins, how about we put some sort of team event thing? where they have to actually communicate with their mates somewhat to actually win the event? like coming up with an answer...etc etc?
Although right now I am a bit confused as to which idea you guys are more focused on, the Labyrinth, or the Board Game. I think the Labyrinth is like a board game anyway. We can make it into one, perhaps? The board game IS the Labyrinth?

The credit really goes to all of you-- not me. What I do is try to listen to your interests as well as the problems that you guys come up with-- and then I try to come up with solutions and compromises. Sometimes its the simplest solution that gets overlooked the most. That's why when you guys don't like something-- its very useful to know why you don't.
anime-- about the team issue. If we revolve the entire ball around the board game than the competition is really more between the hosts/main characters. Like professional sports- and fans supporting their favorite teams.
I think we would over work ourselves if we had to assign everyone to a team and make sure people were not constantly switching teams. With as large scale as the ball, we would have lots of updating and moderating. And likely a few headaches. If we make the focus too centered around winning people may not even sign on for a team until they see the team having a chance of winning. Not to mention the ball is about coming together and making people feel welcome-- so if we segregate people too much we might lose sight of our overall objective.
HOWEVER-- lets say this board game becomes just one side element to the ball.. like on the scale of the individual books in the 7th-- I think it would be a tad more manageable to assign people to teams and focus on getting to the finish line first.
Assuming we did revolve the ball around the game-- where as we might keep the allure that winning is the objective-- the real objective will be having fun and interesting RP. With the adventure element its just as likely the losing team could have more fun than the winning team.
In short, I don't want us having to spend the bulk of the ball policing our guests. razz And I might be being pessimistic when I say I think that is what we would likely end up doing in one way or another unless we made it easy for people to switch teams.

Kid - I like the towns idea! But like Envy said, not everyone has access to them. Also, some people like forum rps better. But if we did a little of both it would be alright! Like have our normal forum but have a meet up on towns at some point as well? Also the playlist idea is really cool. We'd just need to make sure people could find it. That's easy enough though! And if we have different themed rooms we could have playlists for each room.
Envy - I love your bubbles! <3 They'd solve so many problems. We could even type out and have all of our plot updates ready to go before ball time!
Also, with the board game / labyrinth thing... I think this is turning more into an adventure rp than a ball. Like I said earlier, it would be really fun to rp this. But I just don't think it's really a celebration as much as it is a competition. It feels like one of Gaia's holiday events where people join a team and then try and do something better than each other. I think that this would defeat one of the main purposes of the ball which is to unify Gaians. And also, I don't think there'd be too much dancing. But perhaps it would make a good room if we went with the Celebrations idea? [And you all thought I forgot about my obsession over Val's idea. <3]

♥♡♥♡♥♡♥ I think you may have missed something, so I'll fill you in on the ball idea for Labyrinth. There's still a main ball room, but you have the choice of following the rest of the story as well. And there is still dancing and celebration in the rooms the "adventure" follows. At least, that was my understanding. I'm not as sure on the more board game themed idea, as that was more Envy. ^_^ And I doubt anyone could forget your obsession over the Celebrations idea. smile

♥♡♥♡♥♡♥ Right-o - Forums will always be the priority focus of the ball. After all, that's where it all began! But I also feel that not expanding to at least one or a few of the live action areas would be a shame. kid's one of the few to actually suggest it here on the boards, but its been suggested by many others who haven't visited the guild. ^^ We could come up with some interesting activities to do. :> And, your concerns about the board game/labyrinth are valid Angelisha. I love friendly competitions and contests-- but I don't want the entire focus so revolved around winning that people miss out on the fun and the aspect of coming together. The labyrinth and board game idea will also encompass dancing and celebrations while also having an adventure element to it. I think there has to be some sense of balance. Not enough dancing and it wouldn't be much of a 'Ball'-- but having nothing other than dancing to do and we'd likely all be bored before it was over. I'm going to sift back to see just what her idea was again. We prolly need to start compiling these ideas up into neat lil paragraphs to have them at easy reference and so they're not lost each time a new idea is brought to debate.

I think I keep walking in at the wrong time... I'm glad that we are hammering out ideas that are detailed, thought out, and adds a new spin to the ball, but I think we are straying from the ball. Then again, let me look over the whole gameboard idea. I am not sure that I even caught the basics of it. From glancing at it, it is interesting, but a bit complicated.
