OOC: I'll try to explain-away a somewhat healed-up leg...
IC:[Prior to Shuichi entering the room] *Floating into the building in which everyone was rushing, Shuichi, getting a rather interesting look on his face, finds a spell in his book that not only speeds up a slow-heal spell like Regen, but it will also strengthen the spell as well. The only downside is that it will leave a scar where the wound is unless the spell is stopped right before it begins healing the top few layers of skin.
Anyway, once inside the hall and outside of the room where everyone is, Shuichi hastily stops Baikasu and suggests he sit down for a bit.*
Shuichi: I found one! I found a spell that'll work on that leg of yours without havig an adverse reaction to Daewyn's attempt at healing. In fact, it should heal it right up, pretty much.
** Baikasu: "Pretty Much"? What do you mean, "Pretty Much"? What adverse effects does it ha-... know what? I don't care. Just heal the damned leg, I need it.
Shuichi: Uh, sure. Now, I'll have to stop te spell before it's completely healed. it will just be the skin that I'll leave unhealed, however. Now hold still...
*Shuichi begins to do his thing, and stops right before the skin is healed more then necessary.*
*Baikasu's leg is feeling less dead and painful... kinda. He felt a mild burning sensation through his leg, which was likely his nerve endings being reattached and finally allowed to relay all of the messages they had cached all at once, which was less than pleasent to feel. But he felt things improving in his wound, and he knew he'd be able to fight once more after this pesky healing was over, so he wasn't complaining.*
Shuichi: Okay, I left the last bit unhealed because that's just superficial and, quite frankly, you're better off with that protective casing Daewyn gave your wound than normal skin. It'll go away at it's normal pace, however, so do't get too attached to it. Anyway, I'm going to go join the others to find out what's up. you coming?
Baikasu: I haven't slept in a while. i think I'll just stay right by the door resting, propped up against the wall. That way I won't have to enter the drama-filled conversation unecessarily, and I'll be able to catch everything people say. Besides, I don't trust this place. I'll feel better watching things out here, anyway.

Face hidden behind a white, slightly painted mask, a figure clad in loose clothing plodded unevenly toward the building. Short brown hair tied back with a strip of maroon cloth had fallen messily around the mask, tangled in different directions and matted by blood. Several small cuts could be seen still bleeding on arms, shoulders, and hands. One hand was clamped over their shoulder as they made their way towards the doors, left leg dragging behind in the awkward stride. A black scarf had been tied around one leg, the pant's olive fabrics torned and slashed open in several places. Still making its way toward the building, it gave the figure outside a brief nod without slowing, and continued into the structure.

Naoko winced out of instinct, rubbing the right side of her temple.
"Hm? What's wrong?" Sion asked her.
"No...nothing." What in the world are you thinking about, Daemon?
.....
"There should be some water to the left of me," Reika announced to the group, her face noticeably in deep frustration as a bead of sweat dripped down the side of her face. "That standing pillar with the groove inside. Drink some and it'll heal your wounds a little bit."
She rotated her shoulders out of a habit that had been with her for as long as she could remember. "I'll try to keep this aura as far back as possible when you open the gate to the temple. Just be quick about it. I can't hold it back forever."
"And just how do we open the gate?" Naoko asked, ignoring the slight headache that she was starting to feel due to her ancestor's brooding.
Reika took her eyes away from her cousin and glared at Bryce. "He should know."
The soft glow of Phey's amulet began to pulse, and all bearers looked in surprise, wondering if their fallen comrade had revived.
((OOC: Since this is your temple, after all, Chibicid, I leave that up to you ^^. And Kaede, that's your cue to um..stumble in. ))

"HUH??"
That was the typical reaction he expected from Melchoir. The woman under the tree continued to smile as if the Master of Void had said nothing in the first place.
"You're right for once, Melchoir," Daemon explained. "Nobody would dare come out here out of fear. This woman is the source of magic that we had been feeling since Lilandre."
"Come to think of it..." Terra also turned her attention to the woman under the tree. "The aura does feel familiar."
"Wait, this doesn't make much sense," Anubi spoke up, shaking away the thick mass of his hair away from his face. "What are you two getting to?"
Daemon ignored the comment, continuing to stare at the woman. "What do you wish for us to do, fae?"

The sliding noise of one boot dragging a bit behind the other, more solidly stepping one, was the first announcment of the recalcitrant subordinate's arrival. Forcing the slight stagger under control, the figure dropped their right knee to the ground, left raised to a kneel, facing Reika. Her right hand's last two fingers were balled to her palm, the others extended straight with the thumb bent to a distanced parallel. Striking the right hand wrist to the left shoulder in a salute, the hand dropped to trail a semi-circle around the apparent soldier, trailing a bit of blood from a cut across the back of the said hand.
Still kneeling, a voice muffled slighlty by the mask clearly gave explanation. "General Reika, please pardon the impropriety of my deviation from orders. However, I could not risk further injuries to you or any of the greener members of the squads. How may I be of service." After finishing the respectful address, the maksed one bowed their head as an apparent gesture of acceptance for whatever order or reprimand might come.

"He should know."
*These words, combined with the glare of Reika, made Bryce's blood run cold. He did not, however, let this show. He met Reika's gaze with an equally fierce one of his own and held it until she looked back at Naoko.*
What the hell is that supposed to mean? She acts like I've been there before!
That's because you have.
That's impossible. The temple is forbidden to everyone but the Elders and a select few Ministers. I mean...I've seen it before in a few of my classes at the Mage Academy, but it isn't exactly easy to get to.
There are ways. And you, as the bearer of me, have gotten there through them.
What?
When you were just a boy, days after you got here, you went to the temple by accident. You were poking around, as usual, and stumbled across a strange door...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *A much younger Bryce walks through a dark corridor and enters into a very large room with a pillar in it. He, though young, could sense a strange presence in the room.*
I've never been here before...I wonder if the other kids have seen this!
*Creeping a little further toward the pillar, he notices a faint green glow coming from under his shirt.*
What is this?
*Pulling out the amulet given to him by his mother as he left Aneidan, he notices that a green light is emanating from it, pulsing slightly.*
Mom...what can this mean?
*He quickly looks around the room for something, anything, that would explain the light. Disappointed he steps forward slightly, and something catches his gaze from the corner of his eye. Looking to his right, he notices a green outline of a door etched into the wall. As he approaches it, the outline begins to pulsate with the same rhythm as his amulet. Confused, he walks up to it and places his hand on the door.*
What is going on in here? I just..don't understand...
*As he touches the door, he picks up the amulet with his other hand. He lifts it to the door instinctively, and jumps back as the wall disappears, revealing a small, circular room with a glowing platform. Ancient runes are etched into the walls and all around the circumference of the platform. A slight breeze filters through the now-open passageway.*
Is this...real?
*He slowly steps forward and onto the platform without realizing what he is doing. Still holding the amulet in his hand, he soon notices the green glow around him getting brighter. The runes glow in response, and the platform begins to shake. Suddenly, Bryce is knocked down as it shoots upward, rising through the heights of the Crystal Spire. Bryce notices the ceiling too late to be shocked, because by then the platform has burst through into the sky. It continues accelerating upwards until finally, it breaks through a layer of clouds and stops at the bottom of a wide, white, marble staircase. At the top of this is a single gateway, and behind that can be seen only clouds and sky.*
This must be...
The Temple of the Wind, child.
Who are you?
I am Narya, the Guardian of the Amulet you bear.
What? This?
Yes. I have been awoken from my slumber of centuries because you brought me here. This temple corresponds to the amulet you bear. Have you mastered its power yet?
It's power...what?
Each amulet provides its bearer with the attributes it embodies. You should at the least be able to conjure a slight breeze.
I didn't even know this was a special amulet...I just thought it was an heirloom Mom gave me...
Hm. It seems you have much to learn, then. Let us make the most of it. Go ahead and enter through the gateway that lies before you. We shall communicate with the temple's spirits and see what they can grant you.
*Bryce follows Narya's advice, climbing the steps through the ancient gate. As he enters through it, the clouds slowly dissappate, revealing a courtyard with a central shrine. He cannot keep the look of amazement from his face as he walks into the shrine. The room he enters is not very large, if it can be called a room at all. There are columns spaced evenly around the perimeter of the room, but the rear half has only the columns, and no wall. Instead, there is open air. An altar lies directly in front of Bryce, and behind that, a doorway that seems to lead to nowhere but open sky.*
Here. This is where you will recieve your training from me, and the gifts from the spirits. We need only wait for one to entertain our visit.
*A distant rumble is heard from afar. The runes that are etched into the ceiling of the shrine begin to pulsate light, and the breeze picks up. Bryce's amulet glows and joins into the pulsating rhythm of the runes. An almost melody is achieved with the echoing wind off the walls.*
Narya...what are you saying to the shrine?
I'm...not doing anything, actually. I thought you started this?
What??
*Suddenly, the wind stops, and the altar glows green. Light shoots up from the altar and connects with the ceiling, enveloping many of the pulsating runes. Those not engulfed begin to move across the ceiling, continuing with the supernatural pulsations. Before Bryce realizes it, the pulsations become attached with voices, and a chant is heard. He cannot make out the words, but it sounds as if something is being summoned. A common sound is repeated numerous times. Garuda.*
No. It can't be.
Narya...I'm scared. What's happening?
Bryce...you have to get out of here!
*He quickly turns around, but notices that the door has shut behind him and cannot be budged.*
It won't work!! What's going on??
Bryce...the temple spirits...have found it fit to summon Garuda...
Before he could say anything, or inquire as to the nature of this Garuda, the room is filled with a burst of green light. As Bryce's eyes readjust to the change, he can just make out a large, winged figure standing on the altar. A giant roar is heard. And then, darkness. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I...I don't remember any of that.
That's understandable. It was quite a shock for you at such a young age. I can't recall much after the possession. Surely you recall that much?
No. I just remember waking up in the ward the next day, without any recollection as to why I was there. They let me leave soon enough, and you began speaking to me. And I didn't think anything of it...it just felt as if you had always been there. And I felt...something else...inside...
Ah yes. And I had to explain to you what it was. I believe you were a little frightened at first...but it didn't cause you any trouble.
Except for my expulsion from the Academy and Tuvidal.
Well...yes. But you seem to have harnessed it since then.
Fifteen years of wandering gives a person a lot of time to do that. And I haven't exactly been provoked like I was that day, except when I caused it myself.
Like in Halconia. But you weren't infuriated then, so we could almost control the power.
Yes. I suppose I'll have to confront Garuda again in the Temple. At least now I know how to get there, so I don't look like a fool.
*The sound of a boot sliding in the corridor snapped Bryce back into reality. A figure knelt before Reika and saluted her, mumbling something about following orders.*
This must be one of Reika's subordinates...she looks like she's been through a lot today...
((OOC: Sorry about the long entry...thought I'd give some further background information before we went off into the temple, plus I need to hold that off until the story progresses a tad bit. wink ))
Daewyn stayed in the background as much as possible, all through the temple and especially after they reached the room with the giant crystal thing. It came unconsciously to her with a shift in her state of mind, shoulders hunched slightly, drawing herself as small as possible, head slightly bowed. And everyone was so busy with everything else, it seemed no one was really paying attention to her. Which was fine. The tension in the room was so thick, Daewyn was more than happy not to be in the middle of it.
Even Terra is gone on some group meeting or something; she feels farther away, she mused. Daewyn could feel Terra's presence again, but even after getting out of that weird area that split her connection to the motherly guardian, it was faint, as if Terra's gaze was far from her charge. I wonder what she's up to...
The thought was cut short as she saw a pulsing red gleam in the corner of her eye. In Naoko's hand, the fire amulet was pulsing softly with red light. Phey?! Daewyn started to say something, but stopped herself just in time, recalling what everyones' reactions were the last time she tried to help her friend, reactions that still perplexed her. Daewyn continued her "invisible" act, watching the looks on the other party members' faces carefully. Most of them had noticed it, but no one had done anything so far. Damn them... she fumed internally. They don't even care...
You realize, of course, you should probably be in there.
I guess you're right, especially since that battered up chick just went into the room I was supposed to be guarding. Then again, I figure anyone that injured isn't looking for a fight.
Look, Baikasu. You should be in there, if only to be part of what's going on in that room. Besides, you'll get plenty of rest once everyone fially decides to rest for the night.
*Baikasu shifts his position a little, as his previous position was less comfortable and wasn't wise in case he had to move.*
Ah, but you forget one thing, Macnor. I always get stuck with guard duty at night, even only for one shift. At the moment I just want to curl up into a fetal position and lie there for several hours uninterrupted.
You're not the only one, though they're probably more for Phey's death than anything else. Not to say you're unaffected.
Oh I'm still really pissed off and torn up about that, but I know that it's best not to deal with that sorta thing when you have more pressing matters. And considering my past, it'll be easier for me to deal with this than, say, Daewyn. No, at the moment I'm more worried about food, bad guys, and rest than anything else. Maybe when we get some food and rest we'll be able to deal with bad guys and bad things happening a bit better.
Right. But until then, get off of your lazy a** and rejoin the party. You can lean up against the door or something.
*Baikasu gets up off the floor by the room's entrance, streching.*
*Sigh* Fine, I'll go in there. I just hope that next time we all have a camp set up, I can get a full night's sleep.
Hopefully so. I like spending my nights alone, and you being awake all the time is annoying.
Hey, I'm not the one that shoved you into that crystal.
... I'd rather not talk about that. I miss having legs.
Yes. I know. You've made me painfully aware of that. I'm going in there now.
*Baikasu slowly enters the room, and leans up against the wall by the door, and takes the entire spectacle in. The people standing around. Nida's mutilated arms. The glowing amulet, however, was of great interest. He knew that no one took off their amulet, and that there was one less party member, Phey. Logic told him that it was Phey's former amulet, an amulet which should not be glowing after the bearer dies, as far as he knew. So he begins to think that either Phey is alive, or once an amulet bearer dies then the amulet immediately changes bearers. In either case, he breaks his silence.*
Baikasu: Naoko, might you explain why Phey's amulet is pulsating?
OOC:Someone had to have a reason to mention the blinking light, and since Naoko isn't talking about it, I might as well bring it to attention.
OOC: I apologize for delay...been working on sewing costumes all weekend long sweatdrop sweatdrop
IC:
Reika, quickly losing her temper now that the newcomer had entered, glared at the woman and sent a small flash of fire her way as warning.
"You idiot! How many times do I have to tell you to NOT disobey my orders?!?"
The soldier had winced despite her injuries at her commander's outburst, especially when the flame was very close to incinerating her hair.
"It's too dangerous in here for you to even be here with your kind of injuries! Why in the world did you come back in the first place?"
Naoko had glanced at their group at the moment, wondering what everyone might have been thinking at the moment -- especially Daewyn's thoughts since she thought the younger girl as somewhat of a little sister (for having never had a younger sibling, her relationship with Daewyn was what it felt like), when the glow of Phey's amulet in her hand caught her attention.
What in the world...
"Naoko, might you explain why Phey's amulet is pulsating?" came Baikasu's voice interrupting her train of thought.
The pulse was a lot faster than what she hand seen before. Naoko held the amulet up in her hand, glancing back at their newcomer -- apparently one of her hot-tempered cousin's subordinates -- with suspicion.
Daemon....what do you think?
Of course there was no reply from her ancestor, as he had been dwelling upon something for quite a while since the mention of hurrying into the temple. Naoko glanced down at Phey's amulet again, concentrating on what the pulse was leaning towards to. When she had first encountered everyone, she hadn't thought much about the pulse of the amulets much, but this was new. This was Phey's amulet. She had died, that meant that her guardian died. Or at least should have.
Unless..
Now that she thought of it, she remembered that Phey never really spoke about her amulet to anyone other than it having acted on its own volition without her say. Usually the guardians would speak to their bearers, as how her mother and Daemon did, and she remembered that once in a while the others would be lost in thought as well -- a familiar look of speaking to their guardian -- but Naoko never once did see Phey openly speak about her guardian, nor did she ever try to open its abilities out of her own will.
"Reika," Naoko ignored Baikasu's question for the moment and broke her cousin's tirade against her subordinate, also noting that the aura she had been keeping back was dangerously close due to her cousin's inability to concentrate since the outburst. "Can you introduce your....comrade to us?"
Good. Reika had turned in her direction and the aura once again fell back.
"What?"
This woman...she couldn't be...can she?
Reika once again glared back at the female soldier before reconcentrating her energy back onto the aura. Although she wouldn't admit it out loud, she was glad that her cousin had given back her focus onto the aura again. It had come just inches away from her this time.
"It's none of your concern, cousin."
"Her name."
The look in Naoko's eyes told Reika that this was not a request, but a demand. She, too, finally noticed the pulse of the amulet Naoko had in her hands and she knew that it was not hers.
Reika inwardly frowned. What was her cousin getting to? The girl had nothing to do with her cousin and her comrades' quest. This was a matter of her own.
Although...she began to remember a bit of the prophecy that the elders had told her when she was a child.
Yet before Reika could speak her soldier's name, a deep, rumbling voice from the amulet Naoko had in her hands had spoken: Verdis Talamar.
"Look, can this be taken into the temple?" Nida and Xachta griped, perhaps with uncharacteristic impatience. "They figure that there's a bit of a time limit and whatnot. They'll concern themselves with the whole 'passing of the torch' bit soon enough." Indeed, at this point it was obvious what was going on, or so Nida and Xachta assumed. Their snappishness came from a wellspring neither had initially realized they shared: a realization of the lack of connection with Phey they had.
Nida's understanding had come as she had searched her mind for the person who would most need comfort in the wake of Phey's sudden demise. She'd come up blank. People were shocked, people were shaken... but that was more by the proximity of death, by the death of a bearer; when had anyone had an opportunity to form a bond with Phey? With any party members, for that matter? Even that week of downtime in Halconia had been largely spent in introspection by most of the party. Nida certainly had little connection to anyone. Her friendship with Daewyn was hardly worth the name; she merely felt drawn to the girl, but hadn't done anything to develop the relationship. She felt a connection to Baikasu's loss, and he had been kind to her in the past, but for most of the trek, he, too, had been another face in the crowd. Was this all a problem with Nida? Or with the party?
Xachta, as usual, had a more direct and pragmatic view of things: its fellow guardian was trading bearers. More the better, in Xachta's view; the poison spirit had held no animosity toward the fox-girl, but neither had the fox-girl had any conflict with her amulet. By all indications, neither partner had been very dynamic. Xachta may have been more confrontational with Nida than with its previous bearers, but it still hadn't invested itself in her; less still must the spirit of Fire been invested in Phey.
Both Nida and Xachta had been taken aback at these realizations. Nida, of course, hated to see such a cold truth. She was still an idealist at heart. Still naive. Xachta, on the other hand, had thought that its analysis of its fellow guardians was complete and accurate. This unexpected, sudden turn from the usually predictable guardian shot a hole in that comfortable theory. Now Xachta would have to bother with paying more attention to its peerage. What a bore.
I think it's just her personality...she is very much of a "little sister" type. OOC: Kinda like Relm from FFVI or Eiko from FFIX. OOC: Anyway, as I know Baikasu hasn't gotten any sleep for a while[or rest, and I don't count being knocked out as sleep], his mental complexity dealing with things at the moment is at a somewhat low level. He can only converse on a relatively normal level with Macnor the way he is at the moment only because of their mental link, so very little effort has to be made to talk to Macnor than to others. OOC: Basically, in this case with Daewyn's depression and hatred towards the group, he pointed out the blinking thing that shouldn't be blinking, unaware and, due to his condition, somewhat apathetic of what Daewyn was thinking at the moment. OOC: At least, that's what I'm rationalizing it as. I mostly just wanted to have someone mention that amulet because blinking lights drive me nuts. rofl
(( OOC: Uh, Ayame, how would they know if she winced or not when she's wearing a mask? sweatdrop *dodges thrown objects*))
"You idiot! How many times do I have to tell you to NOT disobey my orders?!?"
When her commanding officer lashed out at her, the first words were expected, and she felt a bit of sweat collecting on her brow from the effort to remain still as she received the reprimand. The fact that the flames reaching out toward her were putting quite a bit of heat around her didn't help much, and she blinked behind the mask as the prespiration dripped into her eyes.
"It's too dangerous in here for you to even be here with your kind of injuries! Why in the world did you come back in the first place?"
The second phrase caught her slightly by surprise, but not immensely. She was used to Reika being angry, she was used to inciting her rage by disobeying orders as she saw fit, but she wasn't accustomed to any expressions of concern, be they verbal or in tone. Of course, the general still sounded angry. Perhaps I've just imagined it, she thought to herself, mentally shrugging off the notion that Reika could, or more so would have any reason to be concerned for her, even given her condition. She was, after all, merely a soldier. Though she served a few special purposes and performed tasks most had never even heard the barest mention of, she could be easily replaced. This was what she believed.
She was about to speak up, when another pressence in the room did so. A member of the group standing around Reika, though they clearly were not from the general's ranks.
Reika, can you introduce your....comrade to us?
From behind the slits in her mask, she glanced at the woman addressing Reika. Her features are familiar, similar even. She thought shortly, before looking back to her general, awaiting her reaction, or more likely her outburst.
"It's none of your concern, cousin."
"Her name."
Watching the heated exchange, she could feel the tension in the air, the crackle and clash of the two women's personalities. Then it happened, before Reika could respond, something boomed her name. Not just that, but she felt something inside her, something completely unfamiliar, and yet somehow...
Bloody, she clenched her jaw beneath her mask, fighting the urge to clutch at herself in pain, spirits be damned, it's everywhere. And suddenly, it was gone. Brows furrowed deeply, she was vaguely aware of some other person talking - one of that other woman's. She twitched her head to the left, blinked, and then looked back up at Reika, having not received orders, and quite perplexed by the seemingly contemplative expression on her face. Taking a shaky breath, for loss of blood, she tried not to waver in place as she raised her head to gaze directly at Reika's glare. Though she knew no one could see her eyes, she could certainly could see clouds in her general's.
"General," she began, knowing such ought to be sufficient to gain her attention, and hopefully some explanation.
((OOC: Sorry for the lateness - can't wait until I get more into this though ))
OOC: Bear with me *sticks tongue out at Kaede*; you know how my mind sometimes goes out of whack.
And Dae's the baby of the group xd . When I read the post that you did, Kelwyn, I was like *awww...it's okay, Daewyn -pats head-*
Super-duper long post!! (the joys of doing NPCing...)
IC:
Crap, this was what she exactly had feared. She knew the girl had something odd residing in her and some strange affinity of some sort, but Reika did not think that the role as an amulet bearer would be the string that would tie the knot.
Reika ignored the soldier for the time being and switched her gaze onto her cousin.
Though she never showed it to them, each and every one of her soldiers was under her sole responsiblity no matter how low in the ranks they were. She had also singlehandedly chosen Verdis on her own along with many others -- others who had since lost their lives since the invasion by Dante, Ryden, and their troupe.
"She is not coming with you, do you understand?" she told Naoko.
"It's not my choice if she goes or not," Naoko calmly replied, holding out the amulet in her hand. She then placed it on the floor near Reika and the young soldier called "Verdis". "It's whatever the guardian and bearer decide together. If the bearer decides not to follow, then the guardian will abide by it. If the guardian wants to go, then the bearer will have no choice."
She knew she wasn't making much sense to the fiery general, but this was what she understood from being with Daemon and her mother for so long.
"I pray for your safety, cousin," she softly told Reika as she turned away. "This aura isn't likely to be held back for long."
She had the odd feeling that they were being watched, and to put it simply, it didn't settle well in her mind. Plus, she knew that Nida/Xachta was getting impatient as well as herself and probably the rest of their exhausted yet somewhat refreshed group.
"Bryce, do you remember how to open the gate?"
Whoever was watching them, she wanted to make sure that they were all in the temple before then.
......It would be best to enter quickly.
The familiar tingle in her head had returned, indicating to her that her ancestor had come back to the reality of the situation.
You've been gone for a while. What in the world happened?
Nothing of your concern. However, it would be wise if the girl come with us with him.
Him? You mean the fire guardian? Wait...you don't even remember the guardian's name?
It's been a long time since he's fully awakened, child. I don't have a good of a memory as I used to.
"General --" Verdis began to state again when Reika once again cut her off.
"You will remain here with me until these people pass onto the Temple of Wind," she ordered, glancing back at her. The pulse of the amulet was now feeding through her mind. It had stopped glowing, but she could still feel its entity trying to contact with her subordinate.
It reminded her of the time her cousin had first encountered the amulet she wore now.
"And if you like pretty toys like that," she murmured quietly enough for only her (and perhaps Naoko, who she knew had good hearing) to hear, "you can take it if you want. However, don't listen to whatever that voice says to you."
((OOC: I say we should get on going, shouldn't we? ...Did everyone heal up yet?))
~~~~~~
She had stopped following them as soon as she had seen one of them, the man whom another boy called "Baikasu" (that was the only thing she could understand, anyway), stop and rest against the doorway. Layla found a small niche in the passageway and hid, watching. She knew that it was foolish of her to hide herself, but she didn't want that woman to come out of her again and attack. It was hard enough for her to just ignore Ryden nonetheless control her.
I wonder if brother can help me...
The priestess knew that was impossible. Her brother Kato was in Halconia, and she was in a place that she didn't know nor could she understand what these people were saying.
It's almost time, my precious girl.
Layla held back a sneeze and bit her lower lip. Stop it! I won't let you hurt them!
Hmmm...trying to resist are you?
She heard a familiar voice talking, and she knew that Naoko was inside. That had given her more confidence of resisting, and the woman inside her hissed as she faded away from the recesses of her mind once again.
When the man walked inside, Layla found the chance to slowly inch closer, though she could see quite clearly in her distance. The aura she felt inside scared her as well as the booming voice that had suddenly echoed in the passageway. Of course, she could not understand what they were saying as she did not know their language but she had an idea what was going on. At least a small part of it.
She saw the aura that tried to leak out of the large structure in the center of the room, and its eyes seemed to gleam in delight at her presence, which scared the young priestess all the more.
Give me more power... it had hissed to her mentally.
Layla scooted away back to her niche, green eyes wide with fear. What is that??
~~~~~
Sion quietly watched the situation unfold, deciding to refrain from any comment and moved to the back of the group. Something else caught his sight in the corner of his eye and he peeked back into the doorway.
Huh?
What's wrong?
The water bearer took a long look at the passageway before turning back to face the others once again.
I could've sworn I saw something out there.
Hmm...you feel it too, then?
Feel what?
Something's watching us. ~~~~~~~
((OOC: Now, where in the world is Dante?? Hmmm.... wink ))
Crimson eyes stared at the horizon that was coming towards him and he thought of how beautiful it would look if it was spilled with the color of blood.
"Master Dante."
He turned around at the call of his name, facing a middle-aged woman with green hair and eyes. Her ears were pointed and on both sides of her cheek were dark birthmarks, signs pointing to that she was not human. The claws that barely peeked out of her tunic further indicated the notion, but to the Master of Wind, the woman was nothing but another fallen predator who had lived for more than a thousand years.
"What is it, Nyra?"
"We are almost to Demetrie, but is it wise to leave that girl in Tuvidal?" she questioned him. "Ryden hasn't fully awakened yet and those bearers will continue to capture more pieces for Nekleska. She could very well die if the girl begins to learn how to control her."
A faint smile appeared on his face. "Ah."
He turned back to watching the horizon from the window of his room as the ocean waves kept their ship moving steadily along.
"There is no need to worry about her. Rather, everything is falling into place."
Before Nyra could question her master's orders, a crash sent their ship tipping a little off balance and panic began to settle among the human crew.
"Check what that was at once!" a voice echoed through the pipes of communication.
Dante regained his balance, glancing around the room for the source of magic that suddenly appeared. He and Nyra went outside on deck to see more of their pawns become engulfed by the waves and for once, fear began to settle into Dante's mind as a thought crossed his mind.
A wisp of black that was not his and crimson eyes the resembled his own flashed by his eyesight. Inwardly, the Master of Wind was surprised though he did not show it. It couldn't be possible for the dead to come back to life.
"You certaintly are the cause of all trouble, aren't you, Dante?" a voice yet not a voice echoed around them.
The Master of Wind's eyes narrowed as he began to search for the owner, calling upon the wind to shield from the ice needles that suddenly began to form from the water. He knew that voice. A voice he hadn't heard in nearly twenty years.
"You..."
((OOC: *gasp* Who's this new person, huh? New NPC Profiles will be up later on 3nodding ))
