Veroen opened his eyes once Alexz came back into the room. He glanced up toward her, relieved that there was silence and calm in the room again.
"The headache is subsiding. Thank you." he said calmly, leaning back into the pillows slightly.
He gazed at her, curiosity running through his head.
"So why are you helping me? I almost killed you..." he said, an almost unnoticeable hint of regret in his voice.

She shrugged slightly, "I'm not sure, to tell you the truth."
Crossing the room, Alexz gently fell into her couch. She looked off to the side for a moment, contemplating her reasons for helping him. Resting her head on her hand, she looked up at him.
"I guess it's because I understand what it feels like to be powerful yet have no control over your abilities," she paused, "And I've been a traitor to the Coven before, a lapse in judgment is no reason to hold a grudge."
She brought her other hand to her head and removed the elastics that were holding up her hair. Shaking her head, she allowed her red-auburn hair to fall and frame her face. Running her fingers through her hair to settle it, she returned to her former position, with her head resting on her hand.

"Kaei..." Xander had walked into Rogue's room. He had not seen her for a few weeks, but knew they had an appointment tonight at Bribonona, but she did not show. She had said if she couldn't make it, meet her here.
"Kaei, you need to wake up." He walked to the ebony coffin she slept in and pulled back the lid. She looked beautiful lying there. Both his sisters were...radiant as it were. They were all marked by their raven hair and emerald eyes. Their bone structure, and even some mannerisms were...similar.
He put a hand to her midnight hair and stroked a thumb gently down her cheek.
"Kaei..." He whispered gently to her.

Veroen looked at her as she spoke, and contemplated her words carefully. Her reasons were as good as any. If Veroen were in her shoes he probably would have done the same thing. He gazed out the window, various thoughts running through his head. He glanced at her as she let down her auburn hair. He couldn't help but admire her beauty as the moonlight from the opened window slightly lit up her face.
He made no expression, and the stern look on his face remained as he looked down at nothing in particular. He let out a sigh out of old habit than necessity.
"Well I am grateful for your acceptance." he said after a few silent moments in thought.

Rogue felt cold. She felt the blackness encroach upon her as she was not quite in the waking world. Tendrils of dark felt like they were making their way around her wrists and arms and legs, and she saw herself naked, beginning to be wrapped in darkness.
She heard a voice, but it seemed so far away. Kaei....Kaei...
The voice was so familiar. A hand was at her face, and her eyes flashed open, and she gasped as if she had needed to breathe.
Recognition then flooded her eyes, and a smile found its way to her eyes, then her mouth. "Brother...what brings you here."

His consistent facial expression made her curious as to what was crossing his mind. Though reading thoughts was convenient, so was reading body language; since the latter was the least intrusive of the two, Alexz often utilized it. But reading Veroen was rather difficult. Being an assassin certainly had made it so that his facial expressions didn't reveal his intentions and it made her incredibly curious.
"Well then, you're welcome for doing what's right," a grin spread across her face and touched her eyes.
Hearing Rogue stir in the other room, she turned her face to the wall that they shared. She listened for a moment to make sure she wasn't in danger. After recognizing the other presence in her room as her brother, she turned back to Veroen.
"Don't expect the same treatment from Rikku though, she'd be delighted to rip your head off."

"You were supposed to meet me tonight, and you missed the appointment. So, here I am."
He hoped something would jog her memory.
"You are not well." He merely looked at her face, but gazed at her aura, and felt the darkness there. He wondered what had transpired on this night that had made it so. He worried of the void, and its misuse.

Veroen nodded silently, and his eyebrow slightly raised up in curiosity at her ridiculously huge smile. after a moment, a smile slightly broke out on his face and he chuckled quietly and looked down. It wasn't often that Veroen's assassin demeanor was broken.
He looked back up at her, now in a somewhat jokingly mood.
"I have no doubt that she would..." He wondered what Rikku was capable of. He had yet to see her fight.

She gasped lightly, "You chuckled! I didn't think that was possible," she joked.
Alexz shifted in her seat to sit atop her legs. She thought of Rikku and wondered how long it had been since she had awakened last. Rikku often slept for extended periods of time, leaving her and Rogue to watch over New York.
"Wouldn't want to get caught with her in a dark alley, that's for sure," she chucked lightly.

"No, brother. I am not well." She half smiled at him then and began to rise, a hand to her skull still feeling a throbbing where Alexz had locked onto her gaze and...put her into unconsciousness.
Alexz. Veroen. Gabriel. Revan.
In that moment, she wanted Gabriel dead from what she saw in his blood. He was a willingly succumbing to Revan even if it brought him pain. And Revan...well. She had her own opinions. He had wanted to make Rogue his. But she belonged to another then. It ached even to think his name. She pushed Cady Ap-Morthwyl to the back of her mind, and the desire to kill Revan for good still lingered.
She knew her brother would see her mind. She was letting him.
She slowly began crawling out of the ebony coffin and felt a pain and dizziness in her from the void begin to stir. DAMN it. There was a chuckling low within her mind. She lost her 'footing' and fell to the floor, knocking her head on the side of the coffin, cutting the skin there on the corner of the wood. Her blood flowed for a moment down the side of her face, and then the wound closed. She put both hands to the floor, making her way to stand, and a feral growl could be heard deep in her throat in frustration...moreover at herself.

Veroen looked up at her exaggerated surprise at him showing emotion with a sarcastic expression of his own.
"Oh, you didn't know? Assassin's have souls too. Well, except for me of course. I kill without remorse, and without hesitation." He flashed a fanged grin at her, obviously joking back.
It had been a while since he had joked around like this....
"And I'm sure I wouldn't." he muttered under his breath, replying to her comment about not wanting to meet Rikku in an alley.

"Without remorse and hesitation, hmm? Well aren't you the baddest wolf in town? I'm shaking in my boots being in the same room as you," she smirked.
Rising from her seat, she walked over to her desk and made herself a drink. Bringing the mixture of red wine and blood to her lips, she took a sip.
Looking over her shoulder, she asked, "Would you like anything?"
She gestured to the blood packs and liquor she had stored in her desk.

Stumbling from the shadows, she caught herself on the edge of her desk before her momentum and her injuries brought her to the floor. Blood trickled down her thigh as she removed the hand that covered the gauges caused by the bullets from the damned Nightwatch. Muttering curses under her breath, Alexz closed her eyes and focused her attention on the three bullets embedded in her flesh. They began to wriggle, pushing against the tissue that had already begun to heal, causing her to grit her teeth. They each pushed out with a pop before dropping to the floor with a clink and rolling beneath her desk. Breathing a sigh of relief as her wounds healed naturally, she began stripping herself of her bloodstained clothing and headed into her bathroom. Stepping into the steaming stream of water coming from her showerhead, she leaned against the shower wall and shut her eyes, allowing the water to calm the bubbling frustration and distress within her as she wondered where Hibbsworth was as Kensington was being manipulated like a puppet.

Rogue's overrun mind entered the Coven, and made her way to the Elder's chambers, covered in blood that did not belong to her, a good portion down all over her chin, covering her dark clothes. It reeked of not only vampires but the humans she had destroyed only moments before. She walked with a slight tremor in her hand...Kaei trying to grasp control but failing.
Her hair was messy and slightly out of its tied back bun, the midnight mess falling here and there, a few strands in her blood covered face. Her eyes were wild as she looked down at the handle on Alexz's door, her nails and teeth fully elongated in the more natural Sanguinarian form...the rawness of the predator that was Rogue.
Kaei herself was rarely seen in this form...her whole essence and manner was derived around controlling the animal and using its strongest assets to be harnessed in battle. The goal was to obviously never fully get to this point... to be susceptible to the weaknesses of blind rage and feral nature in battle was to get quickly killed by lack of peripheral intellect. The bloodlust was painful to each vampire, regardless of their gifts...but the Sanguinarians for all their strength, felt the weight of the bloodlusting pain far too quickly and far too strongly.
She growled quietly...speaking wasn't her forte at the moment, and if Alexz was inside, which Rogue could sense she was, Rogue knew Alexz would hear. Kaei tried again to gain control, but the Sanguinarian stayed her ground.

In an effort to calm her mounting frustration, Alexz moved her face beneath the stream of water and sighed as the droplets massaged her tensed face. Her brief moment of relaxation was all too short, however, as it was interrupted by a growl at her door. She tensed as she failed to identify the individual based on smell and took a moment to focus her energy to regain her usual high level of awareness. Once she realized that the identity of the aggressive presence in the hallway was Rogue, she immediately stepped out of the shower. Pulling on a charcoal gray satin bathrobe, she rushed to the door, fearing the Rogue had been injured and confused as to why it was so difficult to identify her.
Upon opening the door, she gasped. It was terrifying to be faced with the physical manifestation of the monster which existed in each of them. Seeing Rogue as her Sanguinarian self was like holding a magnifying glass to all vampries. As much as they tried to fight against their nature, this was who they truly were, feral animals.
"Rogue..." she said slowly and firmly, her eyes searching the emerald green of the animal standing before her, searching for any trace of her friend within.
