Hey there. I'm Cyprian, aka James. I live in the gloriously green South, I work in the nonprofit sector, old enough to know better yet young enough to do it again (read : 36), am a slightly amazing cook (according to my very significant other, and can go on and on and on and on unless some poor fool is brave enough to shut me up. Had an account couple of years ago but it went poof. I'm back for good, or until the aliens get us, whichever comes first. lol

my name is debbie, you may call me deb if you like. i am twenty one years of age and live in bermuda. a visual artist, currently studying art & design. i do mostly two dimensional mixed media and a bit of film photography.
i had been thinking about becoming vegetarian for a few years, but only after seeing food inc. last year did i fully commit to an alternative diet. although technically i am pescetarian because i do still eat fish occasionally.
not only have i stopped eating most meats but i try to buy organic food and local produce when possible; nothing with artificial ingredients. i also use natural healthcare products, and have stopped using western medicine.
sustainable living and development is both interesting and important to me. i do my best to reduce my carbon footprint, so to speak. i'm really glad to have found a place to discuss such things with like-minded individuals.

Hi James! Feel free to share recipes and such in the food forum. My other half is the cook and he's not too shabby himself. (Last night we had carrot lemon grass soup.)
Welcome Deb! I went on a meat free diet on the last thirty days (basically vegan except for a bit of honey and milk/egg product in bread). I can imagine the plethora of great food you get in Bermuda. I also approve of your size 15 font. 3nodding

I am musician, and gardener extraordinarily! Am currently (home) studying medicinal plants, wine making, cooking, poi...still trying to get a few music projects together; things are going okay there.

Hey all!
My name's Corky or Karla, I'm twenty-four, and I currently reside in the South (or the S-th, if you prefer) with my significant other and a dog.
I just graduated with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, but I'm at that "What do I do now?" stage with no real idea except that I need a full-time job and I want to built a small garden on my balcony.
Finding this guild was a bit of a blessing as I don't really have anyone around me who is as interested in being more green as I am (I have support, but little conversation). So I'm rather excited to be able to chat, read, and share ideas with all of you here.

heeey folks, i'm new [obvs]
my name is lu, [you can call me Lu.] and i'm a 21 year old kid [no oxymoron there] from a certain very famous metro area in northern cali. i live in a small apartment with my sassy kitty, magic.
i started developing a conscience regarding my relationship with mother earth in my early teenage years, when i would go on week-long backpacking trips with my all-girls school.. in addition to being taught to ~leave no trace~ (pack in, pack out!) i found the forest fascinating.. that animals and plants and even people could survive and thrive without electricity, phones, supermarkets and other modern-day conveniences.
those experiences in the "middle of nowhere" shaped my lifepath in a huge way. my ultimate dream and goal is to be completely self-sufficient-- i'm talking log cabin in the woods, veggie patches, berry bushes and edible weeds being grown and utilized, water pumping, clotheslines and open-fire cooking. mrgreen for now, i do little things like riding a bicycle instead of driving, or freecycling/upcycling instead of trashing unwanted items.
that may have been a bit verbose rolleyes anyway, i'm looking forward to sharing with and learning from y'all. thanks for having me~

Welcome all! What instruments do you play? I'm getting "into" herbs myself. I can't have a real garden (space + bears) so herbs it is! It's really fun and amazing what "weeds" have amazing uses. Congrats on your graduation! Feel free to share your balcony garden trials, tribulations and pictures over in the Farm & Garden forum. 3nodding I love sassy cats! Hi, I'm Java. ((not comfortable w/saying my real name here yet))
I'm only a teen; but I'm interested in living green.
I've tried countless times to start my own garden, and failed.
Hopefully I can see what I did wrong here, and learn some new stuff.
I love animals, but some insects are rather scary from my point. (spiders)
My parents currently don't really support me in 'living green'. But I hope they will in the future c:

Hello! I am Dusky, a female who resides in the mountains of USA. But I will soon be moving depending on which company accepts me. I am a video game writer who is trying to get into Bioware or Bethesda. Very long progress. confused I am thinking about going back to school in the UK if nothing happens by the end of the summer.
I love to cook, travel, study history, write (of course), workout, and watch movies with my little black and white chihuahua Willow. I love to Roleplay and play video games. My favorites are Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, Halo, Fable, and the Elder Scrolls.
I fear large amounts of water like swimming pools, the ocean, and big puddles. I feel that they are going to swallow me up and make me drown. I've almost drowned two times when I was a little girl so it has stuck with me.
I hate cats, disgusting vermin. But I love big cats like lions and tigers. My favorite animal is the owl and foxes. I'm a forest girl so I can't help myself in forest environments with all the smells, tastes, and landscapes. Fall is my favorite season it's not to cold or to hot just perfect and all the autumn flavors in breads and pastries make me literally die. DX
I eat mostly organic foods and make a point of making most the food I eat. Kashi is the best cereal brand and no unnatural sugar! Te best! I'm a sucker for green tea ice cream,french macaroons, spice breads, and pies OMG. I believe I do well in being eco friendly with foods and conserving water but I am horrible at plastic water bottles and energy. I can't bring myself to turn off my computer and I'm playing video games all the time and if the video games are not up then it's a movie. I hate the taste of tap water so I always use flavored water or bottled water. But anyways lets us leave that be, I am ashamed of it.
I'm horrible at crafts so I don't even try, it just ends up making me angry after awhile. I just stick with digital crafts like my writing.
Well now I am losing control so I am going to force myself to stop now. If you would like to know more about moi then go ahead and throw a pm! I am very happy to be here! biggrin

Hello to all that may or may not read this! mrgreen
You may call me Demonia, or Demo for short.
I am 21 years young and trying to go back to college. I moved from a big city to the beautiful mountains. I am a U.S. citizen, not completely proud of being an American, mostly because of what our society has become....
I have experimented with gardening on and off for almost two years. I'd really like to learn as much as I can about growing food organically and leaving a lighter "carbon footprint". The best I have managed to learn about on my own so far is creating compose (which I've actually only began to learn about) and recycling xp
I do enjoy shopping at health food stores and local farmer's markets, but I know there is so much more I could do to make a good difference in the world.
