Ben seems to be thinking rather hard about this explanation. He nods in time.

Hmm...what an interesting...well...concept. I never thought of that. The weird thing about being here though...it is just so free...I mean...when you are part of a rich family with lots of pull, everything you do is scrutinized...you know? I have to talk this way, walk that way, wear my hair this way...so stressful. I am glad things aren't that way here...I am, um, working on expressions though so be patient with me.

He watches you head upstairs and then sees you again as you come downstairs.

Nice change, Goodness knows I wish I had more than these outfits to wear...I spent so much time at my other role with the shipping company that I got lots of outfits like this so I always wore a uniform of sorts. I don't have much else and haven't taken the time to get anything else. Perhaps I should...

((**Wonders where on earth Turk went**))

*Synge shrugs yet again as she looks around her. Each time she finishes looking around she seems a bit surprised that she hasn't seen anybody or anything out of place.*

Expressions? What do you mean by that? I suppose it is very free here, at the moment at least. Who knows what could come up. Old ghosts from the past perhaps. I don't think you would have anything like that to worry about, am I right?

*When her change is complimented she looks down at her simple jacket and pants and then back to you.*

I just have a few variation. I seem to pick stuff up as I travel. If I wore the same thing all the time I would get very bored I think. Do you?

((Also wondering haha))

Yeah...I have a hard time expressing myself sometimes...I just don't want to mess up...ya know? Yeah, ghosts can haunt you no matter what you do.

He continues to think over clothing but decides to not worry about it.

I pretty much got used to wearing the same clothes or variations of them every day.

((Sorry, had a tech call! ))

((No worries, you are at work after all haha))

*Synge seemed intrigued by Ben's statement and she found herself sitting back down near him.*

Does that mean you've got a ghost of your own? I can't imagine you having any honestly.

(( Yeah...gotta actually work from time to time. wink ))

Ben seems to be very quieted by things this time around, he wasn't all that excited about his own issues and cared not to bring them to light.

No...I'm sorry...err...I meant that if you have ghosts...you can't get away from them. I don't have any...just a boring guy.

*Synge seemed a little let down with Ben's answer, but after a moment she looked up at him, wondering if he was hiding the truth from her. It didn't really seem fair to her, him making her tell him so much, while he told her nothing.*

Oh well, if you say so.

*She stood up again, obviously feeling antsy. She thought about going outside for a bit, but wasn't willing to abandon this time of human interaction.*

Are you doing anything important right now? Or do you want to get some fresh air with me?

*The invitation was very straight forward, and not awkward sounding at all.*

He breathed an internal sigh of relief that he didn't have to explain everything this time around, perhaps if he knew this woman better he would consider discussing things with her.

Yeah, I have a pretty boring existence honestly. Go outside? Sure, sounds like fun.

He got out of his seat and stretched before following Synge. He wasn't sure what was going on with her but he was enjoying what was happening so he didn't complain.

*Synge nodded and walked outside of the tavern, breathing in the fresh spring air with pleasure. She started walking without much idea of where she would go exactly, but turned around to make sure Ben was there with her before going too far.*

It is always good when a new season begins. Even if it is the end of a good season. What do you think? Have a favorite season? I guess working in sailing you might not be too fond of the cold months.

Ben seems to ponder the question with his blank look for a moment.

Well, I really like the spring weather but I love the colors of fall. Working in sailing, I didn't really go on the boats much, I mostly managed the sailors and their freight.

*Synge continued walking as they came to the forest, she lead the two through the trees where she had slept many nights. They stayed on a path so the walking wasn't tough. She wondered if he even liked the outdoors.*

Ah, I guess that makes sense. I don't really know anything about managing things. I have spent a lot of time outside though. You get to understand nature more when you live in it.

*She thought of saying more, but kept silent as they made it to a clearing in the forest that was encircled by tall trees. The sunlight shone through the leaves putting dots of light everywhere, including their bodies. She looked up through the trees. Twilight was approaching, her favorite time. She assumed Ben would be gone off to do something by then, but she thought she might stay here for a while.*

So, have you explored the area around your new business yet?

Ben followed, he was happy to be outside but felt that the creatures might show up sometime soon and that's what he was most concerned about. He didn't want to have to explain this to Synge with little notice.

Yeah, managing is the boring part of the business but it is how you make sure you are successful. I tended to spend more time going over numbers than I did at the docks and perhaps I could have understood my sailors more had I done so but that was the past....

He continues to follow into the circle of trees and one he is there, he realizes that this was a foolish idea.

No, I haven't explored it yet but..uh...hmm...how do I say this...I may have to disappear in a minute if things happen...I am getting a little uneasy so be careful...I just ask you to trust me if I say something.

*Synge had been listening to Ben talk, but was still admiring the beauty around her. His strange words made her turn around and face him though, he was acting weird, even for him.*

What are you talking about? I thought I was the cryptic one here, not you.

*She sighed, wondering what crazy thing he was talking about. Apparently everyone here was a little off after all. She looked around, wondering if he noticed something she had not. But no, nothing was there that she didn't expect to see. Besides, he wouldn't be considered with that anyway.*

If you want to leave, that is fine. I'll be staying here for a bit though.

Ben laughed lightly but Synge could tell it was more out of nervousness than it was out of humor.

Uh...heh...sorry I didn't mean to be cryptic...let's just say I have some people who aren't fond of me and if I am out in public long...they find me...

He felt them here...now he knew that the bastards had followed him. Dammit...why didn't he think before going into the open air like this with someone else. Had there been no one else with him he would be fine...

Synge felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand straight up, something was not feeling good here at the moment.

Ben's eyes seemed to dilate and then return to normal. The next thing that happens is something that Synge could not have been prepared for.

DUCK!

Ben's voice was now very real, not thinking, he had grabbed you and pushed you down to the ground under him. The sound of an arrow whipping through the air could be heard and the shaking of the leaves on a nearby tree mixed with grinding lumber.

The next thing you knew, there is a large arrow in a tree nearby and the impact point on the tree looks like it is destroying the bark. A person stands atop a hill nearby, clothed in all gray and is loading another arrow. Ben's eyes went wild as he looked to you.

This is...^huff^ what I meant! You need to get as far away from this inlet as you can, go back to the tavern if you have to. Don't worry about me...

Ben's eyes were wild and serious.

*Synge raised an eyebrow, wondering how such a seemingly simple person could have enemies here. Before she could voice her concerns she felt that something was indeed wrong, although should couldn't figure out what. She looked around sharply, focusing on one spot of empty air, but figuring nothing out. Then her eyes widened and she was being pushed to the ground by Ben. She was breathing heavily now and saw that the usual air around her was gone, something that rarely happened. She heard his words, but couldn't make sense of what he was saying.*

Leave you here?! Are you crazy? I can't do that!

*She then noticed the intensity in his eyes and considered she would at least stop his worrying about her by getting out of sight. She pushed him off, a bit forcibly, and ran quickly back down the path they had come towards the tavern. Right before clearing the woods she turned and stopped, crouching low behind a tree to wait and listen for what would happen. She couldn't leave completely. Besides, she had nothing to lose.*

As you began running, another arrow shot through the air and Ben leapt to the ground.

s**t! Get out of here!

Not but a few moments after he had said something, Synge could see a man leap out from behind Ben. He was dressed strangely and equipped to kill but very different than the man with the arrows.

SIR! I've got him! Now get the ******** out of here!

The man drew two large weapons on his hands and started heading toward the other man on the hill, another arrow was fired but the new arrival seemed to slice it through the air effortlessly.
