Ambrose nodded. "I've been... spending a lot of time in my thoughts. Too much perhaps, but the slow pace of life around here has really thrown me for a loop. I always used to think too much - because for most of my life I didn't really have people I felt I could voice them to. Now I have people... which is wonderful... but so much going on up here." He tapped his temple with a finger. "And many of them pessimistic thoughts that I don't feel right dumping on people who are all going through their own issues as well."
"But" He redoubled. "I am so thankful for the others here... I know I would not have been able to stay as, well, sane without people to share my feelings with." He eyed her meaningfully. "You bottle fears up too much and they eat you from the inside. THat was a problem of mine for a while... and the problems I had back then were nowhere near as significant as they are now."

"Well, until I know for sure that their experiment hasn't failed, I will continue to maintain hope... slender thread though it may be." She smiled wryly at Ambrose, then stood up. "I should be going, I do need to put in a requsition for windowboxes now that I know the size is completely constant between all the duplexes. I can thank your window for that at least - and for your company." She nodded pleasantly. "It has been a pleasure, Ambrose. Perhaps you can come by for tea, sometime - one of the traditions I never plan on losing no matter what may become!"

Ambrose rose as she made to stand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Anjali. You have no need to thank me for the company. I wish you best of luck with the landscape design. It will be nice to see the changes wrought by your hand as opposed to the scientists." He winked and reached out to shake her hand again.
"And I would love to come by for tea - that sounds really nice. Good luck with your hopefulness - I hope that it gets you farther than it did me."

"Maybe it will, maybe it won't." Anjali slipped her notebook and tape measure into her pants pockets as she got up and headed for the door. "I have never yet been hurt by hope - disillusioned, perhaps, but never hurt. Let us hope that continues. It was good to meet you, Ambrose" With that, and a smile, she headed out towards the community center, mentally preparing the list of items she would need to request for this phase of the project.

Ambrose followed Anjali to the door and waved her off. He had been there... not a few weeks ago. Admittedly, She did have a brighter hope than he - not only was her serum more experimental, but she hadn't even had her first transformation yet. Then again, as she had pointed out, if the scientists could do this... why couldn't they do what they intended on doing to her?
But he had been honest about him rooting for her. Time would tell, he supposed.
He closed the door and walked over to his desk, pulling out the books on wolves, rescuing them from their imprisonment under the lamp.

It was about 11:45 in the morning when there was a insistant knocking on Ambrose's door.
"AMBROSE!" Vasile's voice called, "Ambrose, are you there? Hurry! Hurry!"

Since his change, Ambrose had been finding it harder and harder to get up at his usual crack of dawn, and so Vasile's flurry at his door woke him with a start, followed shortly thereafter by a groan as he noticed how late he had slept in.
"I"m coming!" Ambrose called out with a gravely voice, getting to his feet and making it to the door as fast as his sleep-dredged legs could carry him.
He opened it to a frantic Vasile, Ambrose's eyes still sleep-blurry, his hair tangled, and wearing 3/4 length pants.
"Vasile..? What's going on? What's so important?"

Vasile stopped and stared at his friend for a moment. "What happened to you?! " Ambrose looked... drastically different than they last time he saw him, and it caught him very off-guard.

Ambrose suddenly felt very awake as he realized with a sinking feeling that Vasile had yet to see him since his transformation. His eyes widened and his eyes looked down at his furry chest, his ears visably drooping to the sides. "I..." He winced, looking back to Vasile's eyes - masked fear behind his own "They gave me... the next injection... a couple of days ago..." He swallowed. "I know it looks bad" He said quickly thereafter.
He could deal with this.... he could deal with others' reactions here. They understood - they were just startled... he would be too.

Vasile just kind of stared at him, slack jawed, for a few moments. It wasn't that Ambrose looked particuarly... bad, just he looked so different. He swallowed as he realized he looked... just as much animal now, than human. Before it was still definately human.. just with some small changes. And, unlike some people on the island, Vasile hadn't met Ambrose until he was at his 25%, so this was the first time he saw Ambrose changed at all.
But he shook those thoughts away. Those were for later. For now.. "BOAT!
There's a boat! About a mile down the beach! With a lady, a lady looking for me! Come on! Let's go!" He reached forward and grabbed Ambrose by the shoulder.

Ambrose's eyes widened even further, and suddedly the enthusiasm became very contagious, as well as the need for speed. "A BOAT!! You're kidding!" No, it was very obvious that Vasile was very serious. Ambrose nodded. "Yes! My god!"
He turned to his room for just a moment, grabbing his wallet out of his sock drawer, in hopes that it might help his claim to his own identity if they did miraculously make it out. As much as Ambrose had sour grapes'd the scenario of leaving, when presented with this actual opportunity, this hope, Ambrose didn't think twice about trying to make a break for it. To believe that somewhere, back home, doctors could help him.
"Well what are you waiting for?!" HE grinned, as he ran back to the door, putting his own furry hand on Vasile's shoulder. "lead the way! Let's go!"
A small thought occurred to him in the back of his mind.... Vasile had come to him... Above anyone else...
But what about the others? Emelyn? Cassidy? Greer...? Maybe... Maybe if they could stop the boat - get there in time before the doctors found it.... regardless... time was of the essence.

Vasile gave a fanged grin back at his friend and turned his tail and started to run. The boy was quickly, that was sure, running only in a pair of shorts, he gracefully, almost efortlessly, would jump over rocks and driftwood, never missing a beat.
It was a distance a way, but soon a figure in the horizon in the water - yes, a boat!
The sight made his spirits lift even farther, and he looked over his shoulder at Ambrose. But as they got closer, he felt his stomach began to tie in knots. There were people there.. on the boat. People in uniform. Feral Labs uniforms...
As they approched, Vasile slowed down, chest heaving, as he noticed a particular figure on the beach, overseeing the men crawling all over the boat.

Ambrose followed right along with Vasile, not even thinking about the path between him and the beach, just getting there. Thus, he didn't think about how his changed muscles helped him with the dash to the beach, or the fact that while it wasn't far to the beach, that the sprint was barely winding him.
His spirits soared so high as he saw the shape in the water from far off, spurning his legs to fly even faster.... until those lifted spirits set up for an even harder fall as Ambrose spied the other figures on the beach as well. There was no cheery young female rescuer there... just... men in uniform... and....
Ambrose's dash slowed, being edged by a mix between fear and bitter frustration.

Moreau was making sure that the boat was taken apart. He still found it odd that they had suffered from so many boats comming near here lately. He had chosen this island for it's remoteness and the reefs around it and was getting... quite annoyed.
Moreau's men were in the process of dismantling it, they hadn't gotten too far yet though but they were working fast. Moreau couldn't allow the islanders to leave, besides it would be a risk to their health to even try.
He wasn't worried about it. Since everyone on the island was chipped there was nothing they could really do. He saw Vasile and Ambrose running towards the boat. How interesting, two of the canines seem to have bonded. Moreau also found it interesting that Vasile hadn't gone and gotten anyone else.
"Hello boys. Nice weather?"

Vasile didn't know what to saw, he just stood there, gawking. His tail hung dead limp behind him as his shoulder's slumped. "What are you doing?" he demanded. "Who the hell are you?" He looked back towards the boat. "Where's the chick?"
He turned and looked helplessly at Ambrose. "Is this him? Where's the girl? He's destroying the boat!" His eyes were wide and paniced.
