"Yep! It's especially nice if your last home dissolved when it rained..." David commented on Sarah's remark. "Kitchen is this way, okie dokie?" he said, motioning for the two girls to follow him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"This... thing, this symbiont, whatever... It's changed me. I"m different now, than I was before. Similar, but not quite the same. I think I'm... better, now," Morgan said, trying his best to explain what conclusions he'd come to in the past few months.
"I've been thinking a lot these last couple of months. Last time we saw each other, I was... I was still going through those changes. I said things and did things that I'm not proud of. Hindsight being 20/20, I know everyone just wanted to help. But I think I just wanted the change more..."
He paused for a moment, a black tendril extending itself from his shoulder and brushing some of the remaining snow from his hair.
"I know I already said it, but I am sorry. For what I said, and for what I did," he finished. "Wow, I'm glad I got that off my chest," he added, breathing a sigh of relief.

Kara looked over and saw David entering the kitchen. "You fool the guests stay in the living room!" She snarled at him before he could put a foot in the kitchen.

"My word," exclaimed Professor Xavier, softly, and he looked over the scarred wrists that Owen showed him. The cuts were deep, very deep, yet seemed to be healing nicely, especially for someone who had no access to medical supplies. "That is quite impressive," he finished, and settled back into his seat once again. "You seem to have gotten along fairly well on your own, but, Owen, if you are interested, there's an opening for you here at the Institute. Are you at all interested?"
===
"Different....how?" asked Victoria, an eyebrow quirking as she continued to look at Morgan. She was not mad at Morgan anymore, it seemed, but she was simply curious as to what he meant. Of course he was different, he was half of a symbiotic relationship now, where a few months ago he was just Morgan and nothing more.
"Different enough that you want to stay camped out with these losers?" she asked, her eyebrows furrowing a bit by now as she nodded toward the house beside them where Sarah had obviously skipped off too. "Different enough that you don't wanna come home?"

Owen turned slightly pink as he brought his wrists back and pulled his sleeves back down. He didn't like the way the professor looked at them, how concerned he seemed. After having no one like him care much about him for so long, it felt just plain awkward now. He smiled a little sheepishly at the professor's statement. "Yeah I guess so. You'd be surprised how much spiders and other insects can really do." He took another sip of tea, then nearly choked on it at Xavier's open invitation to join him here. He cleared his throat and put his cup down quickly, fearing that his suddenly wobbly hands would drop it. "You mean.....to stay?" He felt almost as though something inside of him had been ripped in half. One part had leaped, wanting so badly to resume what it had been denied for so long; re-interaction with someone who understood him and cared. The part that had not leaped stayed firmly rooted, telling him what he had systematically drilled into his head for all these years; that the life he once had was gone, and could never be reclaimed. Then his thoughts shifted to the only friends he had ever known, and his eyes began to grow moist. "It sounds good....but.........I don't think I could leave my friends behind. I know they're just bugs to most people, but they're the only friends I've ever had. I can't leave them to be squashed; not after all they've done for me." He swallowed a growing lump in his throat and pretended to study his hands.

Becca giggled as David was reprimanded by Kara. She eyed them both for a moment before poking her head around David to look at Kara.
"How long have you two been dating?" she questioned with a rather sincere grin.

"Huh? Dating? What are you talking about?" David said naievely, a confused expression plastered on his face. You almost could see the wheels in his head going over the statement he'd just heard. Then it finally clicked.
"Oh, you think that-? Me and her? HA! Where the heck would you get that idea? I mean, sure we kinda live together, but there's a few other people in the house as well, so it's not like that's any indication of anything, and besides, there's no other evidence to support such an assumption. Think about it: If sharing a house was the proof that I was dating someone, then it could be assumed that everyone in this house was dating everyone else, which would certainly get complicated if you wanted to go out to the movies or something, and furthermore..."
David then proceeded to wander off once more, rambling to himself.

Blade nodded with a determined look on her face. "Alright! Leave it to me!" She marched to the fridge and yanked it open. Grabbing some milk, she scoured the kitchen for coco powder and sugar. Having found them, Blade dug around until she found a glass. "Do you . . . wait . . . you can't have chocolate milk, can you?" Blade frowned as she finished making her glass. "Great, now I feel like a jerk." She muttered to herself. The runaway mutant had seen how Shandra reached when hot chocolate was mentioned. Now she had done it again.

Shandra shrugged, "Well I could but my kind would be really expensive so I've asked that he not buy the hand made chocolates...I mean he already has someone take me to the local farm about every month or two weeks. He's just cool like that..."

Blade smiled while her eyes had a distant look in them. 'Sounds like something my dad would do . . .' Shaking her head, Blade laughed and nodded. "Sounds very cool." Taking the chocolate milk and downing in it one go, she slammed the cup onto the counter with a sigh. "Alright! Let's do . . . something . . ." Blade laughed again. "Sorry, haven't been around long enough to really know things around here." She shrugged, mostly to herself.

"Yes, of course to stay," corrected the Professor easily, nodding as he set his cup down along with Owen's. He had picked up on the boy's nervousness, it was rather obvious, so he paused a second before finishing his statement. "But...only if you wanted too, of course." Looking back up at the young boy, he listened to Owen's concerned attentively before speaking again. "No one said you had to leave your 'friends' behind, Owen," he said honestly. "So long as they don't get into any trouble, and stay out of the way, for health reasons and for the comfort of your fellow students, I see no problem with them coming along with you, if that would make you feel at home."

Oniongirl "Different....how?" asked Victoria, an eyebrow quirking as she continued to look at Morgan. She was not mad at Morgan anymore, it seemed, but she was simply curious as to what he meant. Of course he was different, he was half of a symbiotic relationship now, where a few months ago he was just Morgan and nothing more. "Different enough that you don't wanna come home?" "Right now? I don't know. I've finally, truly, become used to this thing-," he said, as his clothing gave another ripple,"-and I don't know if I'm ready to go back just yet. For the moment, this is my home. Next week, who knows? And the week afterwards? No idea. All I know is that being here for the past few months has been just what I needed. It's given me time to think. And so far, living in this place is closer to being in an actual home that at the mansion," he added.
"Here, I've got housemates, rather than classmates. I doesn't look like much, but this disfunctional family is closer than anything I saw at the mansion. Answer me honestly. How many students at the mansion do you know by name? A dozen? Maybe a little more? How many are you actually close to?" Morgan asked calmly, cocking his head to the side.

As Morgan's clothing gave another ripple, Victoria glanced at it for a second, but physically bit her lip to keep from making another comment concerning it. No, much like Dr. McCoy and anyone else she knew with a degree or a gut feeling, she still did not like the thing, but what could she do? Nothing she could say would change Morgan's mind...at the moment, at least...so for once, she really listened to what he had to say. For a moment, she ticked off names in her head, matching them to faces before her eyes focused on Morgan once again. He was right. Her eyebrows perked faintly as she debated the answer to Morgan's very last question.
"I was close to you," she admitted, with completely honestly and she gave a bit of a shrug as the comment sunk in, unsure if she should say more or not.

It was those words that hit Morgan harder than anything else. He paused for a moment, considering his next words carefully.
"I know. And I hurt you. That's a big part of why I left. What if I had done it again? What if it was worse than a couple scrapes? If I had done something like that..." He trailed off, falling silent. From the look on his face, it was quite obvious what such an event would've done to him.
He didn't know what else to say at this point, so he just kept his mouth shut. This was one of the most difficult moments of his life, finally coming to terms with what had happened, and everything he'd left behind when he'd chosen to leave, and join up with the dysfunctional little family that he was currently a part of.
So for now, Morgan was silent, his gaze meeting Victoria's, neither of them truly sure where to go from there.

Victoria bobbed her head slowly at Morgan's response, and like him, she was mildly taken aback by them. Things seemed to finally coming to a close for the both of them. Everything that needed to be said had been said, it seemed, yet it still left them with the question of where to go from here.
"So," started Victoria slowly, looking at Morgan still and silently wondering why she was having a hard saying what she wanted to say. "You left because you hurt me?" she asked, wanting to be sure, and for a few reasons. "Because you didn't want to do it again? Not because I provoked you into leaving?"

{Here comes a hug! Morgan's a big softy at heart.}
"You mean, that all this time... you've been blaming yourself?" Morgan asked, his expression changing once again. He finally understood just how much of an impact his departure had left on Victoria.
"I didn't think... That you thought it was your fault..." he said, his voice dropping a few decibels, a tinge of regret audible in his words. "I'm so sorry..." Morgan added, his voice barely a whisper. He couldn't think of any more words to say, so he simply let his actions speak for themselves.
He moved forward, arms outstretched, and pulled the petite girl into a hug. Not a bearhug between good friends, but a hug between two people who cared about each other more than they would admit to anyone else.
