Heh, it was a pretty fun little gimmick. Amusingly enough the director of that episode who called DC to get the covers made was the screenwriter of Joel Shoemacher's Batman movies. He might not have done both, my memory is fuzzy.

I watched Avatar earlier, though this time it was on Blu-Ray with a nice 1080p screen.... yeah, it looked better (in parts) than when I saw it in IMAX 3D. Then again, I hate those stupid glasses.
It makes for good fun when you provide your own commentary (with friends). Ferrari Dragons, Gaia Ex Machina, Final Fantasy XI references... good times, good times.

Seriously, if they're going with the Sub Diego idea, it makes sense there'd be another kid willing to take the name Aqualad.

If they wanted a more diverse group why didn't they just use Static? Hell, he's on the current roster of Teen Titans. And why would they use Artemis of Wonder Girl?

Oh the characters and ethnicities have been visited so many times in the talks about this cartoon...
We have no working theories as to why they didn't use Wonder Girl. I know Artemis is her stand in.
As for Aqualad...I don't care for this. I know why they picked an "Aqualad." The name carries with it a certain ammount of recognition. The girls selected don't carry a lot of weight for that (should have chosen some that did!), so I can see them trying a spin on a known franchise. My problem with it is...Static. Empress. Blue Beetle.
These poor characters don't get a lot of play. Static did have his own cartoon (woo!) and Beetle has gotten some screen time recently, but mostly, I wish they'd included another girl.
Cartoons seem to max out at two girls. One will be girly/sweet/happy and one will be toyboy/tough/bitchy. They could have just gone with Lorena Marquez. Then they'd have covered all the bases.

Thoughts on the Glee finale:
- I am really pleased that they didn't go the anti-adoption route. I dislike intensly when the all-consuming power of teenage love convinces people to be morons. So much of pop culture these days is about the glorification of teenage motherhood, it's nice to see something other than the typical "keep the baby because of lurv" story.
- JENNA GOT TO SING! 'Bout ******** time.
- Puck got to sing, yay, but I actually don't care much for that song, so...moot.
- Am I the only one who thought Schu was just a little too afterschoolspecialy here? The ending too, was just too convenient.
- Props for the BoyGlam. I know they wanted to go all macho, so Bowie was out of the question, but I still approve.
- I am repeatedly impressed by the acting chops on Mike O'Malley. Good show, sir. Good show.
