Welcome to Ravenclaw, EcoGeek. It was rare for me to not be the smartest person in my muggle courses, but it happened on occasion.
I'm sorry I haven't really been around. Muggle life has been biting me in the butt. I still have bills to pay, four different social work things to fill out and some of them need photocopies of random stuff.
I had a new adventure today: I took a substitute call for Middle School "Applied Technology". It was a late call (after school had started) and it was the 'emergency' (ie movie day) substitute plan, so it was pretty easy in that regard... however the most awkward part was how ambiguous I look that I kept getting mistaken for a student.
The 'babysitter' that was with the class until I arrived asked how old I was (24). When the first period filed out I heard alot of them saying "Man, she's short!" etc. I couldn't help but raising my voice and retorting "And with over 6 years experience as an IT professional!"
During break I sat on the sidewalk outside of my classroom listening to my ipod. A teacher came up said hi to me, then confessed a moment later she thought I was a student.
During lunchtime, I seemed to confuse the cashier lady by saying I was paying for an "Adult Lunch". Then when I was sitting alone on a bench eating my cheese and bread sticks with Marinara sauce (the only vegetarian option), a girl and two flunkies of sorts came up to me and asked if I was new. I responded that I was a teacher.
I did get all sorts of questions in the late afternoon of "How old are you?" and "What's your first name?", both of which I refused to answer by trying to keep some shred of professionalism.
I don't think I'll be taking any more middle school jobs anytime soon, but it was quite an experience. My back hurt pretty bad and I probably won't be able to get out of bed tomorrow without taking my DUI-level painkillers ~_~; Welcome to my life.

Ouch, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes meatball, substituting for middle school. I'm a shorty too and people are always amazed that I'm not in high school, at least I don't get asked if I want a kids menu at restaurants anymore. I used to be asked till I was 16.
I have one test left to go tomorrow! Spanish, going to be a piece of cake. Goodnight everybody!

Oh wow meatball, that's quite something, being mistaken for a student. My cousin is like that. She's 21, and she's going to college for nursing, and she's really short, like not even 5' tall. So when she was in high school, people always asked her what grade she was in because she was so short and they never believed her when she said she was in high school. But now she's doing her clinicals where she works at the hospital and she was working in the delivery room last year, and all these people who were having babies always asked her how many kids she had, and she would say that she's still in college. So it went from people not believing that she was in high school or college, to people asking her how many kids she has, so I found that amusing.
Well, we had conference today for tennis. We were supposed to have it last Saturday but the courts were wet and it rained off and on all day, so finally at 10:00 a.m. they cancelled it and rescheduled it for today. Because we had the option to play it on Monday but all the principals of the schools in conference had to approve, and only one didn't (our sister school might I add). So we had to play it today. And the warmest it got was 45 degrees. And it was really windy. So before some of us went on to play our first round, we all curled up in sleeping bags and blankets and such. So basically if you were looking at us, all you would see would be lumps underneath blankets and sleeping bags, and maybe some hair. And I was still cold. Overall, my partner and I got 3rd place (we shouldn't have lost our second round match). But overall, I think we still won. It was fun, but it was really exhausting and cold.
Homecoming last Saturday was amazing. The decorations were awesome. Since our theme was Enchanted Forest, they put up this huge forest made of balloons in the middle of the dance floor, and they had ponds and waterfalls, etc. all made out of balloons. It was really fun. Cold and windy, but fun.

Congratulations, narikoxneji26! I just read that you won the Summer Recruiting Raffle! And your homecoming sounds fantastic! We were in Tucson for the summer, and I barely had a chance to get to the computer. Now I'm back in San Diego, and I love it. I have a Severus Snape FF I've been saving now that the October contest is open.
Have you all voted in the James Potter Fan Fiction? I'd like to win, but I think TonksAsKid's story was the best - except for Minerva's but we can't vote for hers.
Minerva, have you heard if there is going to be any Haven Halloween events?

Rose: Thank you! I was glad that I could win Ravenclaw some extra points. How was Tucson? I'm thinking about writing a Severus Snape Fanfic, I just have to figure out what it'll be about. Plus, I have issues with plot. I can go in depth with the scenery and characters, but I absolutely stink at plot, because I can go on and on and on for hours about the plot and get no where with my story.
And of course, as you guys can tell, I've changed my username to Jedi Knight26. There's really no reasoning to it, I was just tired of my old username, but I couldn't decide what to change it to. But as I was watching the Star Wars marathon on Spike today, the new name suddenly came to me, and so Jedi Knight26 is now my new username.

Hello everyone! Long time that I haven't been on here. It seems that all my professors decided to assign papers for each class all due this week to next week! I even have a paper due for math, which is a bit odd don't you think?
So, I probably will not be online here for a while, until school cools down, I can't wait for thanksgiving vacation!

'Ellu everyone! I'm messaging from Oslo! biggrin
It's awesome. We're four people camping in a livingroom. Two of are Norwegian, the other two are Danish.
It was awesome meeting with my Danish friend again. And her boyfriend is as awesome as she is.
I found out that now that Desucon is not only an anime and manga convention, but also a fantasy and sci-fi convention.. There'll be Hogwarts! biggrin People can have classes and stuff, be able to take a test to see how well you know Harry Potter and stuff. I can't wait <3 I hope they'll be selling some wicked merchendise! biggrin
To think that when I intended to leave somewhere to nerd over anime, I get to nerd over Harry Potter as well. Now that is really wicked.
Jedi, that sounds like an awesome homecoming! I'm kinda envious since we don't have homecomings here.
Aww,, That's a pity Para. Evil teachers giving you way to many assignments.
Poor me. I don't have any vacations till Christmas. The only reason why I'm not sitting at school right now, is because I took some days off.
Edit: Desucon was awesome. Absolutely awesome. And somehow, I've managed to spent 10 000 kr, which is about 2000 dollars, in one week.
The second day was even more awesome though. A Harry Potter thingy in Norway, called "Galtvortskolen" (Meaning Hogwarts school) was there... And there were some adults dressed at some of the teachers! There was Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore, Rolanda Hooch, Pomona Sprout and even Rita Skeeter! biggrin
Snape was awesome. The Hogwarts people actually sat in the front row at the Cosplay competition... When one of the cosplayers got too close, Snape pointed his wand at him, before putting it back into his sleeve...
A guy cosplaying Howl from Howl's Moving Castle said something about the other cosplayers being devils, then handed Snape the Devils Arcana Card.. Which was kinda epic.
Someone in the crowd said something about Snape that I don't really remember... But it caused him to show off the Devil Arcana Card as an answer.
Kinda freaky how when you looked from behind, you'd mistake the man for Alan Rickman as Snape. Which was awesome.
I REALLY wanna find the picture someone was talking about, which was Snape posing together with Darth Vader...

Hey guys! Life has been crazy hectic, I just can't get a break. (And I got the flu. Sigh.)
Meatball: Wow, being a MS sub sounds definitely trying. But hey, sounds like a good learning experience.
Speaking of cosplaying (that event sounds so crazy cool, wish we had those in Washington), Halloween is fast approaching! I'm definitely excited--I'll be dressing up as Draco Malfoy, hahah. Does anyone have temporary hair dying experience to share? Are you guys doing anything fun for Halloween?

Have fun, Turayza! whee My hair is such a light blonde that if I used "temporary" dye, I'd risk permanently staining it, so I've never tried it.Check out the 2009 Trick and Name your Treat event! pirate

Hiya, everyone! Sorry I kind of seemed to have died for awhile. School started to pick up with homework and everything.
Meatball: I can't say that I ever been mistaken for a student but I have been mistaken for a teacher before. Apparently, my dress made one of the 8th graders (my high school expanded to include a 7th and 8th grade) think I was a teacher. Though I have mistaken teachers for students is very common at my school, since the teachers are either in the 40's and above or 20's.
Turaya: The only experience I had with temporary hair dye was a pink streak for a day that refused to show up because of how dark my hair was. However now I can't mess around with temporary hair dye because I bleached my hair gold blonde and anything would leave a semi-perment color to it. I have to finish getting my costume together for Halloween. My school lets us all come dressed up and my group decided to be demented Alice in Wonderland characters. I get to be the Mad hatter for the day.
A question to the everyone in the common room. Could anyone give me tips to help with chemistry? The math part has really messed me up and I might actually be failing the class at the moment. Granted it is the start of a new nine weeks for us but I can't afford to fall behind. The policy with our school is that if you have a low grade in the class at the end of the nine weeks, the option to ask you to leave the school is on the table. I'm in my junior year and I would hate to have to leave now.

Wow what kind of school makes you leave after 9 weeks? Is it a private school? Public school doesn't do that, you have to be enrolled in school until at least 16 in the state of California.
So, I'm back! Well temporarily because my weekend starts today. I'm so happy for halloween, I'm going to be a lolita, well what I was supposed to be for comic con, but since I didn't go (went on a trip to san francisco) then I will be that.
I have jury duty all next week at the federal court, its so annoying, God I hate jury duty.
Your convention sounded like fun kitsune! You should have taken pictures. I love Snape and alan rickman, did you hear btw, that alan rickman is in a new movie?
I wish I could help you with chemistry, but I got a C in chemistry in high school and in college a B+, what are you having problems with the formulas or balancing equations?

Its a private high school. I just have issues with math in general so the formulas throw me off big time. I might have a little leeway where I'm one of the older students.

Demonic: Sorry, I can't help you with Chemistry. I won't have it until next semester because my high school does block scheduling where you have four 90 minute classes, and classes either last a term or a semester. But I am really good in math.
Turayza: Last year for Halloween, my friend temporarily dyed my hair blue (didn't show up the greatest because my hair is REALLY dark brown). If you're using the stuff that comes in a spray can, you probably will want someone else to do it for you, and put an old towel around your neck so you don't spray your skin, because it says on the bottle not to get it on your skin (I accidentally did that to my friend once-she got mad because it was a giant black spot on her neck)
Kitsune: Your trip sounded like a blast.
As for Halloween, two of my friends and myself decided to dress up as Death Eaters for Halloween. So we are going to go shopping on Sunday for black cloaks and silver masks.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we could use to draw the Dark Marks on our arms? Because we're not sure yet as to what to use.
