Luk smiled widely. "Excellent," he murmured. This time he was the one who held the door for the others, and there was a look of great pleasure on his face. It was clear that he was eager to look at what the shop would have to offer.

Miyuki hopped on through followed by her Mommy. Even though she knew it was a maybe, Miyuki couldn't help but be drawn to the earrings.
She didn't know why, she would have thought maybe she'd want a necklace like Mommy's but she really liked the earrings.

As Miyuki examined the earrings, Earendil took Lin aside to speak with her.
"Miyuki asked earlier if she could have some jewelry," he told her quietly. "I told her I would talk to you about it ... but since we were discussing it in the context of your necklace, I was wondering ... rather than just getting her something, perhaps it could be a reward of some sort? The way you got your necklace from Sir Valdemar for climbing the mountain on your own."
He tilted his head slightly. "What do you think?"

Lin looked thoughtful at that, Miyuki was technically old enough to have jewelery. She didn't see why not, as long as Miyuki earned it.
"I think that's a fine idea, I'm just trying to think of what... maybe if she takes up something herself and learns it well. I have been thinking she needs to learn something that will just appeal to her."
Because the other thing Lin found about Miyuki that she was a normal child, in that she didn't know what she wanted to do yet.

Earendil pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Something with her lessons? Or something ... more?" he asked her. "Maybe an accomplishment with her training? Maybe when she graduates from a wooden sword to a real one or something?"
That would be an accomplishment worth celebrating - at least, it was to the elves.

Lin looked thoughtful, that sounded like something. Even though she didn't know what was the proper age for a child to get a real blade.
"Something like that yes," Lin nodded again.

Earendil nodded. "The equivalent of you climbing the mountain," he smiled. "All right. That way we have an answer for when she asks if she's allowed to get something."
He chuckled softly. She would ask, he was certain.
Luk meanwhile was looking with Miyuki at the earrings and such. "See anything you like?" he asked her with a smile.

Lin chuckled at that, it seemed like Earendil was thinking ahead. She wouldn't have thought of that to be honest.
Miyuki pointed to one earring that looked like ivy and flowers, it was really cute and really pretty.
"That," she admitted, "It's very pretty like those ivy that climbs on a wall or stick."

Luk knelt down to examine the earring Miyuki was looking at. He let out a low whistle. "Wow ... that is very pretty indeed. And the quality is very good. You could wear that at court and look just like any of the royals."
He grinned at her. "Though that of course isn't why you like it. You like it just because it's pretty, right? And it will make you prettier than you already are."

Miyuki didn't get the whole royal thing, or why she would want to look like a royal. She was happy though because it was pretty.
"It's pretty and it would be like having flowers with you always."

"Ah, even in the winter," Luk mused. "Yes ... yes, I hadn't thought of that. That would be nice."
Not quite for him, though.
"I don't think I'll be getting anything here, either," he murmured, looking around briefly once more. "At least not today. Perhaps another time."
When he was more certain of what he could afford. He had brought some money from home, but he didn't know how much it would be worth out here.

Miyuki nodded, though to her it was just looking was nice, even though she did want the earring. Her ada said maybe though, but her ada was also talking to mommy.
She totted over to them to see what they thought.

Earendil smiled when Miyuki came over to them, and held one hand out to her invitingly.
"Well?" he asked her. "Are you finished looking?"

"Uh huh," Miyuki nodded as she took her ada's hand, "I saw a pretty ivy flower earring over there."
She knew that asking for jewelery was a big thing, not because the materials were precious but because she felt it was a grown up thing to have jewelry.

"Oh?" Earendil's smile grew warmer. "Would you like to show it to me?"
If they were going to get something for her, it would be best that it be something she actually wanted. Else it wouldn't be nearly as much of a reward.
