Roark cursed slightly under his breath when he saw his attack miss. He watched as his pokemon righted himself back onto his legs stumbling a bit. It must have been a really hard hit if it seemed to phase him a bit through even his thick skull. Still after a second the small dinosaur shook his head and seemed to clear his focus. Seeing that his pokemon was back in action Roark grit his teeth and hoped he wasn't making a mistake with his next move. "Don't let up Crainidos! Charge it again."

Crainidos nodded still feeling slightly dazed from his earlier Headbutt attack but he wasn't going to let that show. Glaring at the Turtwig he dug his talons into the ground and charged forward once more, ready to smash right into the grass starter.

She sat there at the table for just a moment longer in silence before Tony shoo'd her off. "All right Robin its time for you to head out. Its going to be a long night of walking for you. I want you up bright and early to so that you can do your morning exercises, start to learn how to defend yourself with Ampersand and then I want you to take on that gym!"

Feeling determination buzz through her Robin hopped off the seat her party gathering around her as she gave Tony Tony a determined look. "Don't worry Master! I will make sure I win to the best of my abilities!" She felt a fire burn inside her as she said that. The redhead really meant it, she would do anything to make sure her team got the best of the best and that right now meant listening to Tony Tony's advice.

Tony Tony just shook his head at Robin's antics but couldn't help but smile a bit. It had been a while since he had such an eager student to do just about whatever he asked no complaints or to many questions. Granted she wasn't even half as smart as the others. She had something else to her though, a sort of fire that just made him believe in her no matter what stupid thing came out of her mouth. "Call me when you finish all. I want to know how you are doing and give you your next instructions." Was all he said as he watched the troop leave his little restaurant.

Once outside Robin clenched her fists and sent a grin down at Black*Star and Ace who had taken there place by her side. "You ready you two?" She asked them. Ace just looked up at her and gave her a small grin while Black*Star jumped excitedly into the air pumping his fist up. "All right then you two! Were with the others til we get to the forest though." Robin mentioned looking back at the rest of her team and giving them a thumbs up. They all grinned at her and grinned back before she went into her bag and grabbed out their pokeballs. With all of them in her hands she headed over to Ampersand and dumped three of them in his hands. "These are yours right now! For the next few hours your a pokemon trainer!"

Upon hearing her words Ampersand looked a little ill but he carefully took them and stuck them into his pocket anyway. "Thanks..." He muttered wishing he had grabbed one more drink before he left. He had a feeling he was going to need it tonight.

With the air of excitement, and one of dread, the group headed off towards the north exit of the city.

Jake took a quick moment to think when he saw that it took Cranidos a moment to recover from its missed attack - did that mean that it was nearly out of energy to continue battling? It seemed eager to continue once it was back on its feet and again it charged at Turtwig once more. Jake narrowed his eyes and nodded to himself, a determined grin appearing at the corners of his mouth. All things considered, Turtwig was still doing pretty well, and he was quite confident they could walk away from this with a victory.

A strange, familiar feeling seemed to shoot through him just then, but Jake ignored it as he issued his command. "Hold your ground, Turtwig!" he shouted, and watched as the small Grass-type hunkered down. "Wait for an opening and use your Razor Leaf!" Turtwig nodded and stood his ground as he braced for impact. When Cranidos was about a foot away he quickly swung his head, sending a flurry of sharp leaves at the Headbutt Pokemon. He wouldn't get to see how effective his attack had been as he was then slammed into by the full force of Cranidos' Headbutt. The Tiny Leaf Pokemon cried out as he was pushed back by the attack, and though he was a bit shaken he was able to remain standing, and he huffed lightly as he watched his opponent, wondering what would happen next.

"Shinx! Shinx shinx!" came Zaira's enthusiastic cries as she charged eagerly at the Pidgey, though the bird itself seemingly had no intentions of standing there and letting itself get smacked around by this little blue thing. With a single flap of its wings it went airborne, easily dodging out of the way as Zaira jumped at it. However, since there was no longer a target for the Shinx to attack she sailed through the air and made a solid face-plant into the ground. The energetic Shinx didn't seem to care as she quickly regrouped and shook the dirt from her face, whirling around to see the bird land on the ground again. It clicked its beak and raised its wings before sweeping them forward and sending a cloud of sand and dust right into the poor Electric-type's face. Zaira sneezed and coughed and wheezed and pawed at her eyes; the Sand-Attack had done its job quite well as she was hardly able to see the tan-coloured blur as it slammed into her full-force, sending the poor kitten to the ground again.

That bird is clever, Karrigan thought somewhat admirably, even though interest in capturing a Pidgey or any members of its evolutionary line. "Get up, Zaira," she said, keeping her voice somewhat firm. "Shake it off, and use Charge." Zaira got to her feet once more and growled sharply before she started to run, though she didn't run towards the Pidgey. A current of electricity started to build up in her forelegs, and it intensified with every step she took until the blue in her fur was shimmering with electricity. Despite her small stature, the Shinx looked downright intimidating while she wore the cloak of static. The Pidgey must have had quite the brave disposition to it, because it didn't appear to be all that impressed as it once again flapped its wings, this time sending a small twister of wind spinning towards the Shinx. Karrigan frowned at this, though as the Gust attack hit she remembered that Electric-types resisted Flying-type attacks. "Fight back with a Spark attack," Karrigan said, still watching the small bird warily.

Zaira crouched low to the ground, her rear end and tail waggling back and forth as she tried to watch her opponent, though the fact that her eyes were still stinging and watery made that somewhat difficult. Finally, she pounced, static crackling loudly as she jumped at her target. Unfortunately, her aim was off by quite a bit and she only just missed grazing the Pidgey's tail feathers by the slightest of margins. The small bird whirled around and unleashed another gust of fierce (yet relatively ineffective) wind at the Shinx. Zaira growled again and charged through the Gust, jumping forward and slamming her electrified body into the suddenly very shocked Pidgey. It crashed hard to the ground but picked itself up before uttering an indignant squawk and starting to amble away.

Karrigan was just about to congratulate her Pokemon on her first win when the Shinx decided it would be a good idea to chase after the already-defeated bird, and with a soft rustling of leaves both the Pidgey and Shinx disappeared into the underbrush. "Ugh. Why me?" Karrigan muttered, gritting her teeth as she prepared to follow after her overly-excited Pokemon. That's it... no more Electric-types for me, she thought irritably.

Hayley's green eyes flickered back and forth between her tiny Rattata, and the older trainer's disheveled Spearow. As she watched the bird, she quickly came to the realization that it didn't really seem to care about anything other than fighting. Its beady, malicious little eyes were fixed solidly on Mya, and Hayley felt a surge of anger towards the creature. She was also now choosing to ignore Jan, as he seemed more intent on throwing her off than actually battling properly. She'd puffed out her chest a little and was preparing to give her next order to Mya when the bluish-haired boy from before approached her from behind. She didn't really know how to respond as her gaze shifted back and forth between her battle and the boy, who'd introduced himself as Distance. "Um, Hayley, Hayley Bennett," she answered finally.

Jan, as predicted, didn't care that the brunette was now somewhat distracted, and set his mangy Spearow on the attack again. Mya was seemingly a fast learner as she used her Quick Attack to avoid the flurry of oncoming strikes from the beak of her opponent. The bird was quite relentless with its attacks, as almost as soon as one set of Fury Attacks ended, it began another. Mya continued to evade as best she could, but it was becoming obvious that the Rattata was getting tired.

Hayley looked quickly at Distance. "Um, excuse me a moment," she said, flashing a smile before she looked back to her Pokemon. "Try a Tackle," she called to the Mouse Pokemon, deciding it best for them to try and fight back. Mya had just hoped out of the way of a vicious Peck attack, and using her momentum she quickly turned on the spot and threw herself into the bird. The sudden strike caught the Spearow off guard and it staggered back from the hit, noticeably shaken. "All right!" Hayley cheered, looking back to Distance and smiling again. "You were saying?"

Train nodded slightly, Growlithe's PokéBall now in her hand. She maximized it and rolled it back and forth in her hand for a moment before pressing the button and releasing the Fire-type, bending down a little and placing her hands on her thighs to hold her balance.

"Growlithe, I need you to use Odor Sleuth for me," She said to the Pokémon, who wagged his tail and look up at her. She smiled a bit at the puppy, before standing up and glancing into the alley. She quickly looked back down at the Pokémon, however, really not enjoying staring into the pitch black, though her eyes had adjusted almost completely and she could actually see fairly decently now.

When Growlithe remained standing, Train shifted awkwardly and bit her lip for a moment.
"Growlithe," She said a bit firmly, hoping to catch her Pokémon's attention a bit better. Use Odor Sleuth!"

Growlithe blinked and looked around for an opponent, but didn't see anything that seemed to be threatening. At least not at the moment. Train shook her head a little and added, "No, no--on me." Growlithe seemed a bit confused, but complied after a moment, catching the girl's scent rather quickly.

Leon stepped through the sliding doors of the Pokémon Center and waited rather nonchalantly for his turn. He dropped his only two occupied PokéBalls into a tray and slid it to the Nurse before moving away from the counter to take a seat. It wasn't very long at all before his Pokémon were ready, though, and he accepted the PokéBalls with a monotone acknowledgment of his gratitude to the Nurse.

Now armed with a pretty decent amount of a cash, Leon debated adding a move to Muuma's arsenal, but ultimately decided against it; he would rather wait until they got to the next town or city with a gym, and make sure he was prepared for that particular challenge, rather than just selecting a move that seemed pretty powerful. What good was a new move--even if it was strong--if it wouldn't be useful in his next gym challenge? Instead, Leon pulled out his map and began figuring out where they'd have to go next.

Carlos watched as Train brought out her happy little Growlith, who was at first confused as to her request. The young sombrero'd man chuckled a bit as he backed away slowly, this seemed like as good a time as any. The young Train had gotten a new drive in her training, having taken a liking to Suicune and deciding to go to Johto to find it, Maz was simply being Maz, and it seemed the missing pokemon crisis was coming to an end. With Growlith out and using Odor Sleuth it would only be a matter of time before the trainer and her pokemon were reunited, and if there was any trouble Maz and his pokemon would be enough to get them out of it. besides, Train was surely stronger than she thought, hopefully she'd realize that soon. yes it was a short meeting, but Carlos wasn't one to hang around one place for too long and it was about the right time for him to get moving on to his next adventure. He didn't want to leave so suddenly without a word but it was probably best this way, he was never big on good byes because it always felt like you were never gonna see each other again. Would he meet either of these two again? Maybe, maybe not, it was up to fate really. Carlos tipped his sombrero forward and smiled as he turned, walking away silently as his poncho blew in the cold night wind. "...heh heh heh. Una noche bella. La luna tan brillante en el cielo...el cielito lindo." He couldn't help but chuckle as he brought his guitar around to the front and started to strum, singing as he disappeared into the distance.

"De la Sierra Morena, cielito lindo,
vienen bajando
un par de ojitos negros, cielito lindo,
de, contrabando.

Aaaay, aaay, aay, ay,
canta y no llores
porque cantando se alegran cielito lindo,
los corazones!"

Ryka winced a bit as Crenu spoke to her. His words cut through her confidence like a sharp knife. She wouldn't deny that they stung, but Ryka tried her hardest to stay calm, knowing that her Pokemon's attitude depended on her own. Ryka may not have been an expert in Pokemon Contests, but she knew how to connect with her Pokemon well enough!

"Patience, dear Crenu!" Ryka said, calmly, across the battlefield. "We've only begun. Hopefully we will be able to give you a good battle..right, Blitz?" Ryka gave a wink to her Pikachu, who simply sparked his cheeks in approval. But as soon as Poliwhirl began to unleash his Ice Beam, Ryka was in awe. She stared up at the Poliwhirl, who was climbing higher and higher as his icy pillar grew. What a brilliant way to use that move! Ryka thought. She tried not to let the appeal get her spirits down, and instead racked her brain for a way to combat the situation creatively. When Poliwhirl began to use Rain Dance, it struck Ryka. Water conducts electricity...of course. But wouldn't Crenu recognize that..? Ryka pondered. Her first instinct was that he was setting up a trap, but she brushed that aside, for her Pokemon was really urging for action.

Urging he was. The taunts from Poliwhirl sent Blitz into a tizzy, sparkling and sending electric waves in every which direction, enraged. At least he's excited to battle! "Blitz! Send a Thunderbolt right up into those clouds!" Ryka called out, pointing a finger towards the dark cluster forming near the ceiling. With sparks already flying, Blitz shot a bolt filled with rage towards the clouds. Ryka wasn't quite sure what would happen, but she knew that something was better than waiting around.

At first Crenu brushed off Ryka's words as the esperate bluff of a cornered child, but he had to admit that she held her compusure quite well. It seemed rattling her would not be quite so easy. Crenu was expecting an attack of course, and there were several strategies already in motion, but what he was not expecting at all was for what came next. Into the clouds? That was all Crenu had time to think as Blitz fired off an angry Thunderbolt high up into the dark rain clouds that Poliwhirl had summoned, drops of rain already starting to pour out from the fluffy black mass and covering the field. There was no time to react, especially with Poliwhirl so high up and near the very clouds he was forming. Before either of them knew it, the entire cloud was enveloped in an electrical aura and bolts fired out in every which way, the biggest of which struck Poliwhirl directly and send a mighty jolt through his body. "Tch, not bad." Poliwhirl, of course was not as impressed as his body jerked around from the electricity that pounded into him and through his body, trickles of static electricity running down the ice pillar. Crenu didn't glance at his points yet, but he was sure a move like that would take a good chunk away from him.

Using the dark water riddled cloud for electrical moves wasn't unheard of, using Thunder in a rainstorm pretty much guaranteed a hit as the electricity would shoot out from all over the cloud, so was this a smaller version of that? Whatever the case, it was a miscalculation on his part and a very smart move by Ryka. "Perhaps I have underestimated your abilities. But this is no time to celebrate, for now that I know you are a threat to my victory, I will not hesitate in crushing you." Though his tone did not changed and remained rather calm, he gazed across the field into Ryka's eyes with a whole new intensity, a gaze full of killing intent. "Shake it off Poliwhirl, Body Slam that Pikachu into oblivion." Poliwhirl, who was still atop the pillar striking an exaggerated pose, shook himself back into focus and slapped it's face, giggling menacingly down at the Blitz as the water drenched the field running down his slippery rubbery skin. He pointed at Blitz with one finger, then suddenly vanished. He was no longer standing atop the pillar, but was instead sliding down it's side at an incredible velocity picking up speed as his wet feet glided down the already slippery ice with almost no friction, hitting the wet stage floor and zooming directly for the Pikachu like a missile. His body brimming with destructive force he was more than ready to smash his opponent into dust. That electricity hurt like hell and Poliwhirl was gonna make sure that stupid mouse felt every bit of in times 10!

Miharu listened quietly as the three boys took turns speaking, feeling quite out of place among them. She couldn't help but giggle a little as the little Totodile put up quite a resistance to going back into her PokeBall, but who could blame her? It was quite a beautiful day, after all. As the little gator continued to elude being put inside her ball, Miharu's hand instinctively reached for Lily's, figuring that if necessary, the Ivysaur's potent Sleep Powder could stop the Totodile in her tracks and give the exasperated-looking Jasper a break. However, a few moments later, fate intervened and the Water-type found herself face-down on the ground. Miharu smiled kindly at the Pokemon as it vanished inside its sphere, and looked up in time to see Jasper already heading back towards New Bark Town.

"Actually," Miharu stated quietly, continuing to avert her gaze from Scarlet and Jett, "I have some things I need to do, so I'll let you guys go on ahead. Um, again, I'm very sorry." She gave a slight bow and turned and headed back along the route, trying to keep her pace a normal one in order to not look suspicious to the boys. She also felt a little bad for leaving Sam behind, but her new friend had her phone number, and Miharu had a speedy Pidgeot that could easily return her to this place should the need arise. Maybe we'll do some training, she thought as she walked, remembering that she still needed to prepare for her upcoming gym match in Olivine City.

((Again, terribly sorry for the holdup. Keegan post coming as soon as I figure out what the hell it is I'm going to write.))

Jett smiled fondly at the Totodile's antics, reminded of his early days with River. Once the little gator had been caught, it seemed like it was time to depart, and Jasper was heading off to New Bark while Miharu was heading off somewhere. He didn't particularly say anything to her, only offering a slight nod in response.

"Shall we?" he asked his redheaded companion quietly, beginning to follow the path to New Bark. He kept his pace brisk, trusting Scarlet to keep up, and the bandana-clad boy was always in sight in case the Totodile escaped again. But Jett also got the feeling that he needed some distance, and he probably wanted to get to the lab first.

Thankfully, the path to New Bark from that point was relatively short, and it seemed very quick to Jett when he arrived upon the small, peaceful town. He admired it for a few moments before catching sight of the lab, an noticeably bigger building than the rest, and waited for Scarlet before he spoke again: "We should probably just wait outside until Jasper returns the Pokemon. Wouldn't want to crowd them, right?"
PostPosted: Wed May 18, 2011 4:51 pm

Scarlet watched bemusedly as he watched the Totodile reveal her apparent hatred for people who even spoke about dragging her off to labs. The glare she shot Jett almost scared him. Then she started shooting people with water and dodging laser beams. It was a sight he figured he could look back at and giggle. Then he realized how not-hilarious it would be if that were a charmander and it were spitting fire instead, and it sort of killed his buzz.

“Alright, Miharu! See yah around! Good luck with whatever you’re up to!” With a cheerful wave, he bounded on off after Jett, who himself was generally a far better mood reader than Scarlet. So when Jett hung back, so did he. In the mean time, Cindy trotted right next to him, still staring at the odd bandana clad child whose pokemon could apparently be anything it wanted to be.

After a few moments of apparent silence, the group arrived outside New Bark, specifically at the rather small research facility from which Scarlet had gotten his egg. Scarlet scanned the building with a sense of nostalgia, the slightest grin passing his face. After all, if he’d never come here…

“Huh?” He looked over at Jett while his brain processed the question. “Oh. Sure. Fine by me.” After all, there was no real need to bug Professor Elm about pokedexes when he has a missing Totodile to file. If he had files on them, anyway. So there Scarlet waited, kneeling down to pet Cindy.

It wasn't until the small group had arrived in New Bark Town that Jasper looked back at them, and only then did he realize they were minus one person. The green-haired girl, Miharu, was nowhere in sight, and Jasper wondered at what point she had left them, feeling slightly sheepish for not having noticed right away. He reasoned that she probably needed her space, as hanging around with the three of them was probably cramping the experienced trainer's style, though he couldn't help but hope to meet up with her again sometime, as perhaps by then he'd be confident enough to challenge the girl. He approached the lab, also noticing that Jett and Scarlet were choosing to hang back; something he found to be a little odd considering they'd journeyed here to get a Pokedex from the professor. Deciding not to dwell on it much longer, he entered the lab, Pokeball in hand, trying to figure out what he'd do now that he'd retrieved the Totodile.

It hadn't taken very long for Elm and a few of his aides to clean up the mess the Totodile escapee had made, though the two younger people in white coats were still busy sorting through and rearranging a stack of loose papers and seemingly arguing about the proper order, or something to that effect. The professor himself was seated at his desk, busily typing away at his keyboard, though he'd occasionally stop and push his glasses back up his nose. It took a few moments for him to notice Jasper, and he stood up, eying the sphere in the boy's hand carefully. "I trust you retrieved the Totodile then?" he asked, a look of relief spreading across his face when Jasper nodded. "Ah, good. That's the third time this week she's made a run for it." His computer made a beeping sound and he quickly sat back down, peering at the screen. "Fascinating! Jasper, did you know that some baby Pokemon can only be hatched from eggs if their parents are holding specific items? For instance, one can only hatch a Bonsly if the parent Sudowoodo is holding onto an item called Rock Incense..."

Jasper blinked and furrowed his brow. No, he hadn't known that, but since he wasn't a Pokemon Breeder by any standards, he didn't exactly care, either. "Yes, Professor, that's... fascinating," he said, hoping he didn't sound as unenthusiastic as he felt. "But yes," he went on, setting the sphere on the desk. "Back safe and sound. Again, I'm very sorry for the trouble."

"Don't worry about it," Elm said, not looking away from his computer screen. "You brought her back, that's all that matters-" before the bespectacled man could finish his sentence, the Pokeball had begun to rock back and forth on the desk, and finally it burst open. The little Totodile appeared on the floor, and immediately she ran over to Jasper and clung to his leg. This got the professor's attention, and he stood up again, taking off his glasses to polish them. "It seems she's become attached to you," he observed with a slight nod. "Did anything happen while you were bringing her back?"

Jasper shook his head. "No, not really. Though, she did put up a really big fuss about going in her Pokeball and coming back here. I guess she kinda likes my Ditto, too."

Elm nodded again. "Ah, I see." He seemed to ponder something for a moment before he picked up the gator's Pokeball from the desk, and he walked around to where Jasper and the water type were standing. He knelt down in front of the little blue Pokemon. "I think it would be best if you went with this boy," he told the creature, and she replied with a toothy grin. "You're far too energetic for me to handle, after all." He smiled and patted the now-happy Totodile's head before standing up. "That is, if you're up for it, Jasper?"

He then tossed the Pokeball gently towards the bandanna-clad boy, who caught it sheerly on instinct. "Wait, what? You're giving me this Totodile?" he asked, a bit awestruck. "That's just... wow."

"Well, it's only logical. She likes you. You're a new trainer, and she's fairly young as well, so I think it's a perfect match."

"Wow," Jasper repeated, attempting to shake the creature from his leg, to no avail. "Thanks, Professor, I promise I'll take good care of her." He bid farewell to the strange man, and exited the lab, Totodile still clinging stubbornly to his leg. The fact that she was now his still hadn't quite sunk in yet, though he couldn't help but grin at Scarlet and Jett once he saw them outside. "I got a new Pokemon," he said simply, though the smile he wore was more than enough to give away just how happy he felt.

The wind blows across the street as some trash rolls by. My challenger stands tall, even though his hitmonchan has fallen. I seem to have gained some viewers to this battle. Many kids from the city streets ride up on bikes, or simply walk by and see our battle. A few women holding groceries also stop to look. Some kids even flip out some cell phones and take pictures of me and the boy. I glance over to a small child adoring Zii, but that does not seem to phase him one bit.

My challenger flips out his pokeball. This pokeball has a shiny blue tint to it with red grips to it; a great ball. Does this kid have everything I would like? The ball glows and reveals his next choice in pokemon.

My eyes gasp before my mouth could: A Riolu!

"CUTE! A Riolu! How does such a lame trainer get so many good fighting type pokemon?" I ask.

"Okay lass, that is enough of your insults! I know you are trying to fluster me, trying to stop me from thinking right. I am a man, and I am fed up with you. After this fight you will realize...." He began to say until my eyes went down to Riolu's attention to Zii. Something is weird about this Riolu. Could it be... yes it is. Riolu has never seen battle.

"Okay kid, I stop listening to you around Okay Lass. Anyway, your hitmonchan seemed tough, but this pokemon seems inexperienced. Did you find this or did you steal it? Riolu should be a proud and strong pokemon. How did such an feebas like you get that kind of pokemon?"

The kid did not say anything further other than, "Reveal your pokemon."

An inexperienced Riolu... I'm not much of the 'kind' fighter so I'm going to show him some merciless beating. I signal for Zii to step up to the plate. A fighting type should be strong against Zii, but Zii has fought me on many occasions.

Zii jumps into the field as the crowd claps, somehow they wanted to see a Zangoose fight.

---------------------------------

The girl is very attentive. She saw the fierceness in the Spearows eyes, as well as the warmonger in her opponent. The guy only enjoys fighting, and does not care much for his opponents or feelings of pokemon. From experience it's best to understand how your opponent treats their pokemon, because it tells how far they will go to win. Will her opponent go all out, with no care for his pokemon; or will he take care to make sure his pokemon are in good health. I don't see her opponent being the type to hold punches, which means he is lucky to be in front of a pokemon center, just in case he does lose.

"Hayley, what a sweet name... and a smile to match. I will not bother you further. But, I do want you to know, even though Spearow is a flying type he's not using any useful attack other than peck types. Assume he has a gust attack, but abuse the fact that Jan is not using it. Spearow has to come down to the ground and when it does it's in a straight line. Which means, Spearow's attack is flawed due to it's predictability. Now I will sit on the side lines."

I'd really love for this girl to win. But, both challengers seem to have equal experience in battle, just different types. I step behind Hayley a few yards and lean to one knee observing the fight. The mouse type is still at a disadvantage. This is when Mach-Ni jumps from his ball to watch the battle too. The small orange trapinch smiles as the mouse pokemon seems to jump from being hit. I smile as he gave me inspiration.

"Hayley, you're doing good. Defense is your best offense in this battle. Trapinch has agreed." I say, as she seemed in a focus. I wonder if she heard me. I really need to speak louder sometimes.

"Hmm, so this little fellow evolves into the titan Snorlax eh? Wow man that's so cool!" Jason said with a big grin, he was really enjoying himself here in Sinnoh. "Ok Atlas, it may not be a super huge Snorlax yet but we can't underestimate this Munchlax either. Let's start off with a Rock Throw!" The mighty rock snake roared out with power it grabbed up chunks of earth with his tail, whipping them at his opponent with great force. The Munchlax hadn't picked a fight with his trainer, but that didn't matter right now. Atlas was more than happy to just be in a match, wanting to get a handle for his new size in a real battle scenario.

The larger kid watched as rocks rained down on Munchlax who took a rather hard hit from some of the big ones, not sure what to do next. Meanwhile his girlfriend screeched at him about dodging and counter attacking all the while calling him all sorts of names, which really didn't improve his mood at all. "Uh, right! Munchlax use ummm, use tackle!" The Munchlax, who had been knocked over by a few rocks rolled up onto his feet, slapping his face and getting back into focus. Looking at Atlas angrily the Munchlax charged, putting all his weight into hid gut as he kicked off the ground hard to throw himself into the Onix.

Atlas held his ground and did nothing at the small Munchlax threw itself at him. The Big Eater Pokemon connected square on Onix's mid section, the little guy was pretty heavy and managed to knock Onix back a bit, but his tackle really didn't damage his rock hard body. "Hey hey, normal attacks aren't effective against rock type pokemon you know. Well I guess Onix aren't really found here in Hoenn but still..." Jason said scratching his head as the girl kept yelling at her boyfriend, chuckling at the whole thing. "Man you guys are funny. Let's show them our tackle Atlas!" Atlas roared wasting no time in the attack, hitting the ground with a large thud as the big pokemon tore up the ground shooting at Munchlax like a freight train.

Karrigan was very not impressed with the situation as she made her way through the underbrush of the woods, only just able to hear the cries of her excited Shinx in the distance. She had no idea why Zaira had taken off so suddenly, but she knew she had to catch up with the energetic Electric-type before she got herself into too much trouble. "Zaira... get back here!" she hissed, parting branches and pushing aside leaves to keep them out of her face, but the smaller Pokemon was having a much easier time navigating her way through the underbrush than the human. Finally she pushed her way into a small clearing in the woods, her cheeks stinging with a few tiny scratches. Some leaves and twigs had also gotten stuck in her hair, and she tried to brush them away as she looked around for the Shinx.

Zaira wasn't too hard to find, as she'd stopped in front of a tree and was poking excitedly at something she'd discovered. Karrigan ran over to her, ready to give the kitten an earful for running away, but upon spotting what the Shinx was playing with, all her fury quickly fizzled out like a candle that had been snuffed out by a strong gust of wind. "Zaira, th-that's a... that's a Kakuna," she whispered, her eyes quickly darting to the trees around them. She could see more of the cocoons dotting branches around them, and though there currently were no Beedrill in sight, she knew they wouldn't stray too far from their nest. "Come on, let's get out of here," she whispered, slowly bending down and picking up the curious kitten. Zaira gave an inquisitive mew, but Karrigan shushed her, not wanting to attract the attention of any nearby Beedrill. Karrigan began to take a few cautious steps back, trying very hard not to make a sound. She'd managed to back about ten feet away from the Kakuna that Zaira had poked at when she stumbled over a root that was sticking up out of the ground, and she fell backwards, landing hard on her left hip and giving poor Zaira a good jostle in the meantime.

For a moment, Karrigan just sat there, too scared to even breathe as she was certain a swarm of angry Beedrill were going to rise up out of nowhere and attack her and Zaira, but nothing seemed to happen. Karrigan let out a shaky breath and stood up, wincing from the painful bruise she'd suffered on her hip. She turned and took a single step, though chills raced up and down her spine as she stepped on a single twig that snapped under her foot. All at once an angry buzzing sound filled the air, and Karrigan turned to see half a dozen Beedrill rocketing down from the trees towards them. The redheaded girl let out a frightened squeal and turned and bolted, still clutching the poor Shinx tightly to her chest. Running back through the underbrush would prove to be much more difficult now that she was in a hurry, and she did her best to ignore the scratches and scrapes she received as she ran, wanting nothing more to escape this madness.

The gruff Spearow didn't take too kindly to being slammed into by the smaller Mouse Pokemon, and it ruffled its wings and gave a crude-sounding squawk. Hayley giggled to herself and looked behind as her observer had backed away from the battle, and he was momentarily joined by a Pokemon that Hayley had only seen before in books. 'Wow, is that a Trapinch?' she thought to herself as she looked back to her tiny Rattata, who was currently busily evading another set of Peck attacks from the mangy bird. Hayley kept Distance's advice in mind, as he'd been correct in pointing out that the Spearow's attacks, while vicious and relentless, were also staggeringly predictable. Its level must have also been on par with, or at least somewhere around where Mya's was, as it didn't seem to have access to many more moves other than Peck and Furry Attack.

"Dodge, and try to Tackle him again," Hayley said, her tone a lot more confident now than when the battle had first started. The Rattata gave an eager nod and bolted out of the way, ready to try and take this opponent down for good.

"Predictable, am I?" Jan smirked, shaking his head. "I'll show you predictable! Spearow, attack!" His voice, while firm, was still considerably calm. He either had the utmost faith in his Pokemon, or was simply confident in his own abilities. The small bird spun around on the spot, lashing out with a claw and catching a surprised Mya in its grasp. It unleashed several vicious Peck attacks before tossing her to the ground, though the poor mouse tried her hardest to get up again.

Hayley's confidence took a dive, but she bit her lip and quickly recalled her Rattata, as it seemed as though the Spearow had been preparing to attack her even though she was already down. "That's okay," the girl whispered, hugging the sphere to her chest. "That's our first battle together, and I think we did pretty well." She put the Pokeball back in its slot on her belt, and took up a second one, as they had declared it to be a two-Pokemon-each battle. "All right, Cynder! Let's wrap this one up!" she called, giving the sphere a toss which revealed the girl's loyal yet antsy Charmander. The fire type quickly sized up his opponent and snorted out a small puff of smoke as he gave a toothy grin. Surely this one would be an easy win for him!

Jan hadn't even blinked when Hayley switched her Pokemon, and instead was already commanding his Spearow into attacking again. The bird raced towards Cynder, a malicious glint in its beady eyes and all at once Hayley wondered if the poor condition of the birds wings would even enable it to fly. 'Time to test that out,' Hayley thought, pointing at the bird. "Cynder, Ember attack, go!" Flames were already spilling from the Charmander's mouth as he reared back and unleashed a series of small fireballs at the oncoming Spearow.

As predicted, the bird wasn't quick enough to feint either left or right, nor did it have the strength to lift itself into the air, and it found itself bathed in intense fire. Unable to stand it, the bird quickly succumbed to the damage and collapsed, and after a silent moment or two, Jan recalled it. "Hmm, not bad," he said, nodding slowly. "But I'm not finished just yet."
