A dissertation is something you normally do in your final year of university (although I believe some courses don't have them) and it is a very long essay (between 8-10 thousand words I believe) of your own choosing. You have to do all the research, read up on the historical arguments concerning your subject, find first hand contemporary sources and then write it. But it's essentially your own thinking so you compare and contrast, argue and agree with other historians views, analyse the sources and contemporary thinking yourself and so on 3nodding
My essay is on the political influence of women during the English Civil Wars (1642-1649) 3nodding
I wrote a similar sort of essay while I was at school as part of my A Level exams concerning the emancipation of women and whether it was the Suffragettes or the Suffragists who got women the vote 3nodding I just find female history fascinating because not a lot has been done on it 3nodding
So I've been trawling through historical articles, attempting to deciphre 17th Century petitions and writing up all my notes and stuff. But I'm taking a break now cause I'm hungry ninja

Ah, what we call a "bachelor's essay" 3nodding Your subject sounds really interesting! I am most likely doing one on "how politics has influenced British literature from the 1600s till today" or something similar. But that's two years away, as I am doing an extra year to improve my grades.

I'd write mine on how males would've discovered how to reproduce with eachother if it weren't for female naggings.
