Ceon was on the ground before he even knew what had happened. An immense surge of pain shot up through his chest and blood seeped from his wound and his mouth. The bottom of his heart had been punctured, and his breathing immediately became labored as he tried to rip the bullet out. He gasped for air as a pool of dark red blood formed around him.

Janine watched as they were both hit with the silver bullets. ((Only silver, not nitrate, so it won't kill you))
She knew the chances they survived the shots were high, but any more shots would draw attention to their position, and give them away.
With a silent order, she ordered the men away, to find their next target.

Layna blinked, her eyes blurring. Pain slammed into her shoulder, but she stayed standing, her eyes staring down at Ceon, her hands clenched into fists. She turned her gaze toward the broken glass window, her eyes roving through the darkness. The pain was making it hard to concentrate. "Ceon, please...concentrate on healing...." She muttered, her tone rigid. Her grey eyes flashed a platinum sheen, waiting for movement.

Ceon insides burned as the silver bullet touched it, his extended his nails into claws and cut at his skin, but the bullet was too deep to obtain. His breathing was now quick and short, unable to obtain a breath lasting for more than half of a second. Blood now encircled Ceon's body as it kept seeping out.

Layna looked away from the streets and knelt quickly beside her mate. She was suddenly glad that she was a healer. "Hold absolutely still, beloved." She whispered, her nails digging deep into flesh. She could already hear sirens in the distance. She had to be quick. The bullet was close to the heart."Stay still, please...." She continued to whisper. Pain was making concentration nearly impossible, but if she didn't she would lose Ceon, and she would be alone all over again. She continued her searching, carefully avoiding where major arteries and organs were.
She knew she was close when her fingertips began to burn slightly. She steeled herself, and wrapped her fingers delicately around the bullet, before she began to extract it. She didn't realize her hand was out until she heard the gentle clink of metal onto the floor. "Ceon! Please don't you dare give up!" She snarled, tears now flowing freely down her cheeks.

Ceon's face became almost completely white and his vision was hazy. He looked at Layna, and a smile came across his face. "Layna...it's quiet now....and it's............cold..." Ceon sniffeled slightly, his breathing became less audible by the second.

Layna whimpered, "You promised me you wouldn't die. So don't even think about it. I don't want to be alone...don't leave me alone..." She said, stroking his cheek gently. Tears coursed down her pale cheeks. She didn't even want to think of what she would do if he died. She knew she wouldn't be far behind; she had already decided. Some of the braver humans had ventured forward to help, but were quickly snarled at. A keening howl was building in her chest, and she didn't know whether she could hold it in much longer.

Ceon weakly lifted a hand to Layna's cheek. "I...lo...love..you..." Ceon lost grip and he fell unconscious, now falling towards death at a rapid pace. His chest rose ever so slowly and the bullet hole closed over.

Layna continued to stroke his cheek, her form shivering. She was crying harder than she had in a long time, since.... She dared not remember. But the tears did not last. She reached up, claws digging into the flesh of her shoulder. Her face was rigid, not showing the pain that it caused her. Her hand wrapped around the bullet, and yanked it out of her body. She threw it away, her eyes staring at detested bullet. Her hands stung from the contact, her breathing fast. Whoever did this, Layna thought acidly, I'll find them, or hope to dear god that someone else does before I do.

Ceon, in his uncoscious state, tried to suck air into his feeble body. He had lost so much blood, the only thing that was keeping him alive was the thought of his son being born. His eyes fluttered for a moment and then closed again. His mouth formed words, but he was too weak to speak them.

Layna kissed his cheek gently. "Heal..." She whispered. "Just heal." She was afraid to move, afraid to barely breathe. She was afraid of so much at the moment. But she wouldn't let it get to her. She couldn't let herself be overcome.

"I...I'm never....clothes shopping....again..." said Ceon sarcastically in a raspy voice. His cheeks turned a light pink, blood returning back to his body. He took in a long, deep breath and sighed in relief.

Layna couldn't help but laugh darkly at Ceon's humor returning. Tears were dripping from her cheeks again, and she leaned down to kiss his forehead. "Don't ever worry me again, Ceon Dorvuun, you hear me?" She said, growling into his ear.

Ceon panted heavily, "I'll try...my best, love." Ceon slowly got up and placed his jacket over the hole in his shirt. "Let's get to the baby store. Who knows? Maybe someone will fire a shotgun at us there." said Ceon sarcastically. He didn't want to go to another store, but Layna had one month to go until it was time for their son to be born, and there was still so much to do.

Layna snarled, and grabbed the undamaged clothes from the counter. She shoved them gently into his arms. "Change." She said firmly, her eyes showing there was no question against it.
