The young Totodile had become very quiet once her playmate had taken interest in the Quilava, and ever so slowly she'd inched towards Jasper until she was more or less hiding behind him. While she didn't really know any of the humans here at all, she was somewhat familiar with the green-clad boy, and that made him the safest option in her mind. That, and she still felt bad for biting him earlier. Ditto, on the other hand, looked absolutely thrilled to have become the center of attention while also having forgotten that he and Jasper were supposed to be returning the runaway water type to Professor Elm's lab. The Transform Pokemon closed his eyes and purred a bit as Cindy patted him on the head before he dropped down to his belly and began to roll around in the grass, taking advantage of the fact that he currently had legs. It was no wonder the Ditto often took on the forms of other Pokemon, as it was rarely any fun to remain as a squishy blob of blue goop.
Jasper couldn't help but smirk a bit at the other trainers' reactions, and he remembered then that Ditto were somewhat of a rare Pokemon. "Yeah," he nodded, casting a wary eye at the copycatting fire type. "Ditto and I have been friends for a long, long time now, though he can be a bit of a handful." Ditto got back to his feet and trotted back over to his bandanna-clad trainer, sitting dutifully at the boy's feet before he reverted back to his basic form. Jasper quickly retrieved the appropriate Pokeball from his bag and promptly returned the impish Ditto before anything else were to happen. The Totodile had continued to peek out from behind Jasper's leg, highly curious of the strange, shapeshifting blue Pokemon, yet far too shy to stray away from the human that she had chomped on. When one of the other humans mentioned going back to the lab, she cast him a death glare, a little less fearful of him now that his scary owl-thing had been put back in its ball as well. As much as she liked the professor himself, she hated being confined to the lab (and by extension, her Pokeball) all the time and she was really enjoying the fresh air out here.
Jasper had taken the sphere in question out of his pocket as well and had pointed it at her, but Totodile would have none of that. She puffed out her little gator cheeks and unleashed a fierce stream of water at the boy's hand, sending the offending Pokeball spiraling out of his grasp and landing hard on the ground a few feet away. Blinking in confusion, Jasper stared at his wet hand for a moment or two before looking back at the water type starter, his eyes narrowing in annoyance. "Okay, that wasn't funny," he growled, quickly stooping down to grab the Pokeball. Totodile didn't seem to think it was funny either, as she simply continued to glare at the boy. "What's your problem?" he asked, checking the sphere for damage and finding nothing more than a few scuffed patches. The gator stomped her foot and growled, already preparing to send another Water Gun in Jasper's direction, but this time he saw it coming and sidestepped. "I don't think so," he grumbled, attempting to return the blue Pokemon to its ball, though the gator easily danced out of the way of the red beam, her body glowing with a pale violet aura as she did so. Jasper raised an eyebrow and tried again, his frown growing after three more attempts to recall the gator failed. With every step she seemed to move faster until finally she tripped over a small rock and face-planted the ground, and Jasper quickly capitalized on her mistake, finally returning her to the Pokeball while uttering a mild cuss word. Feeling a little embarrassed though refusing to show it, Jasper turned to the others. "All right, let's go," he said simply before walking quickly back towards the lab in New Bark Town. * * * * * * * * * * 'Spearow is a flying type, and Mya is a normal type with no ranged attacks,' Hayley thought to herself, having withdrawn her Pokedex to study the Rattata's list of attacks. 'Assuming she's as low level as I think she is, I'm guessing she doesn't have access to anything above Quick Attack. This isn't good, I didn't think this through enough. I should have sent out Cynder instead...' The brunette's mind raced as her gaze flickered back and forth between her Rattata, the Spearow, and her Pokedex screen. "Oh well, que será, será," she mumbled to herself, choosing to ignore her self-doubt in favor of trying her best. After all, not only was this her first battle with Mya, but it was her first battle against another trainer, ever. She also tried to forget that she'd only ever managed to defeat one of the wild Pokemon she'd battled with, and she decided to start off easy. "Okay, Mya, let's give your Tail Whip a try." she suggested, having switched over to the Spearow's entry as reference.
The Rattata nodded eagerly and ran towards the Spearow, giving an energetic "Tah!" as she swung her tail around, catching the bird in the beak. Neither it nor Jan were all that impressed by the maneuver, especially seeing as how it hadn't really done anything. "Tail Whip? Seriously?" Jan asked, shaking his head. "How sad. Pathetic, even. Spearow, give 'em a Peck attack." The small bird ruffled its disheveled feathers and dashed at the retreating Rattata, landing several sharp pecks to her back. Mya winced from the pain but didn't cry out, instead turning and throwing all of her tiny weight into the Spearow for a Tackle attack.
"Uh, I wouldn't call that pathetic," Hayley retorted with a smile, though it was short lived as the Spearow quickly retaliated with a flurry of strikes, a Fury Attack. "Get out of there!" the brunette called. "Use Quick Attack!" The Rattata tried her best to evade the attacks, and was able to avoid all but one, which hit her squarely in the shoulder. Squeaking slightly, the mouse Pokemon hobbled away, finding it hard to put pressure on her injured shoulder.
"I would definitely call your little rat pathetic," Jan answered, though there was no malice or venom in his tone, just brutal honesty. Hayley frowned and averted her gaze from the older boy, wanting to pretend like she hadn't heard him. She knew Mya was still very young, inexperienced and weak, but she was quick on her feet, and she intended to use it to her advantage. "Fury Attack, again," Jan ordered, his tone cold and flat.
"Evade with Quick Attack," Hayley countered, her shaky voice giving away the fact that she was quite nervous at the moment. Mya's ears and whiskers twitched and she darted out of the Spearow's reach, glad to find her shoulder ached less the more she moved it. 'Good,' Hayley thought, finding a small amount of confidence. 'If we can keep this up, Mya can tired it out and then we can steal the win!'

Ryka and her opponent locked eyes for a moment. The two stood in silence, waiting to see who would pull the first move. Before she knew it, Crenu had issued a powerful Brick Break from his Poliwhirl, whom had rushed into action upon hearing the trainer open his mouth.
Before Blitz could even blink, his vision was blocked by the image of a Poliwhirl, arm raised to break him. With very little reaction time, Blitz jumped to the right, narrowly avoiding a direct hit, but still being struck hard nonetheless. Ryka let out a gasp. My, how fast Poliwhirl was! blitz shuddered for a quick moment, but straightened up as to not appear weak. He gave his distraught trainer a reassuring glance before facing his opponent dead on. Ryka sat in silence for a minute, thinking of a strategy. She had never been one to be a quick strategist, after all, but she knew she couldn't spend a lot of time thinking either, or the battle would be fairly short.
Blitz because impatient with the seconds of down time, and lowered his head to prepare for a headbutt. Ryka called out, quickly "No, Blitz! You have to distance yourself from Poliwhirl. He seems to be a short range fighter, so...you have to try to attack from a longer range!" Blitz grimaced a bit at this. why couldn't he just charge in and knock the stupid frog out? "Use Quick Attack to gain some distance!" Blitz, however grudgingly, listened to his trainer's orders. At lightning speed, he sped across the stadium to the point where it looked as if Ryka's pokemon was Poliwhirl, and Crenu's Pikachu.
Being at a considerable distance, safe from harm, Ryka felt a sense of relief. "Blitz, start charging a Thunder Wave! We'll slow him down first..." Now it was getting exciting! Blitz thought. Eagerly, Blitz focused his energy, sparks flying from his cheeks. Suddenly he let go a wave of electricity that spread from his body, which winced a bit as the attack was released, due to the previous Brick Break. But Blitz held on and focused his wave at the Poliwhirl with determination on his brow.

The hitmonchan floats like a butterflree and stings like a beedrill. I am amazed at it's speed, but I noticed something: It's attacks. If I was this kid, I would have hit with a thunder punch; to paralyze my foe, then use fire punch to burn my foe, then ice punch to freeze my foe. If the foe is still unable to move by that time I'd end it with a well placed mach punch. But, this kid is not using any of those, which means this hitmonchan did not evolve from a tyrogue. This hitmonchan is weaker than a well raised one. My expression changes on my face as I realize this. It's time to piss my opponent off, something I'm good at. "Your face changed, Laichi. Am I not showing a good challenge?" The kid shouts as he notices my expression change. "Your hitmonchan was not evolved from a tyrogue." I say with my eyes narrowing on my target, a strategy coming into my mind. "Ho...how did you know this?" the boy asks as my face reads, 'guess!' "Fine, I'll beat you quick then, and show you how strong my Bruiser is." I begin to laugh, "I heard you call him that before but ignored it because I thought your hitmonchan was cool. But, now that I look at the big picture I can see why you call him bruiser! He's a punching bag! He's a fast moving weak hitting punching bag!" That did it, I can see his face growing red of anger. His hitmonchan is also growing expectantly angry. Good. "Icky, end this and lets see his second pokemon! Pound!" The grimer forms a bubble under it's rear and with a fart noise flies into the air and drops with a large hammered fist... it connected! Hitmonchan is smashed into the ground. Did my insults cause it to flinch? That will be a first. In a sudden pulse of energy hitmonchan jumps up and comet punches my grimer into the air. It's like a massive blob float in mid air. "Icky, use protect!" My grimer's purple shield appears and saves him from one of the comet punch's continuous attacks, but the third one connects and if it was not for the harden grimer would have suffered large damage. The hitmonchan coughs up some purple smoke again and begins wobbling. I got it! The poison made it flinched as it got worked up over my insults. I'll have to remember that detail in a future battle. "Again, Icky!" Grimer creates a large brick with his goo and slams it on hitmonchan's right side, causing him to slide ten feet away in the dirt. "Grime!" He shouts while slithering toward the hitmonchan. "Bruiser! Comet Punch again! Make it worth my while!" Hitmonchan becomes a slight blur as grimer is hit on the left side, then on the back, then suddenly flips through the air and lands five feet in front of me. As he lands I see in my peripheral Zii begin to twitch. He's going to make a move. I now see what is going on. Bruiser becomes a blur and he's about to hit Icky into me. I'm no push over! -------------------------------- I rest my hands on the railing as I remain a spectator for this fight. This kid's expression is filled with repulse for the mouse type pokemon. He must be a power hitter type of trainer. I call it that, because in the situations which revolved around my education in the academy there were always the types to only choose pokemon based on their prowess in battles. They did not care for what the pokemon's feelings were. They just wanted to win, and never cared about their pokemon's wellness. That is probably the cause for his spearow's appearance. It's like the philosophy behind a parent screaming at their child for leaving home with messed up hair and bad hygiene; like I would know what that is. I had to learn by fellow students laughing at me and a day in the counselors office.
"A tail whip... interesting." I say while the girl has her mouse type tease the spearow. The idea behind a tail whip is just like a woman wiggling their butts at another girl while flicking them off with a middle finger. It's a taunt. It lowers the defense of the opposing enemy by getting them into a rage. I'm not so sure that was a wise idea knowing that the boy is the type of trainer who wants to win and does not necessarily depends on defense. But, there is always a start for something. She has the correct path made, but she forgot to cover the holes in the path; metaphorically of course.
The boy has insulted the girl for using tail whip. Even I would have never insulted a girl, they are God's greatest creation; they are his or her's best work of art on this planet. But, that's another story. So with my ideals being questioned and knowing who I am, I plan on standing up for what I believe in. So I walk up behind the young girl casually. This is not an official gym battle, nor a contest battle. This battle is just a casual exposition, which has become an show of insults to the girl.
"Hey girl, you're face says you are confused of what type of attack you can use or should use. You have a new generation pokeball in your collection, which you caught your rattata with. If you spin the top you can observe the moves, health, status ailments, and if the pokemon is hungry or not since the last time they were in the ball. You can view the mouse type's moves with that. Oh, I'm sorry to interrupt your battle, but his insults frazzled me. I thought you might want to get an edge. By the way call me Distance; and you are?"
Yes, I did interrupt the battle. I don't care. But, knowing her enemy I'm assuming he'll use this distraction to take advantage, that is why I bring my fingers to my eyes which then points to the battle if she looks at me and takes her attention off the battle.

Katie held tightly to her Pokedex as she moved back even further, her ruby coloured eyes sparing only a second to glance at the pair of fleeing Starly. Something in the back of her mind was warning her of the fact that Mai's chuckle had been enough to startle nearby Pokemon into fleeing away from the area, but the orange haired girl was far too excited about seeing the woman's Aerodactyl to really pay attention. Katie was already in the process of scanning the Pokemon even before it could take shape other than a blur of white light, and she let out a soft 'ooh!' once the Pokemon had fully materialized in front of her. The Aerodactyl had quite an impressive wingspan, though that wasn't nearly as impressive of the rows of jagged, saw-like teeth lining its mouth. Almost instantly the ancient Pokemon had turned to look at her, and Katie felt compelled to stake yet another step back. "Uh, yup, I believe you," she said, keeping her tone firm despite her nervousness. It was also difficult not to be impressed at how calm and obedient the Aerodactyl seemed to be, and only after it had decided to use a rock for a throne did she speak up again. "Uh, you're not going to use him for training, are you?" she asked, her voice wavering a little. Her mind had been suddenly flooded with images of the fossil Pokemon roaring and chasing down her Pokemon, razor-sharp teeth bared in preparation to eat them. "I mean, uh, well, he seems to be a bit out of my league."

Crenu watched the match closely, mindful of Ryka's synchronization with her pokemon and the flow of their combination as Blitz barely evaded Poliwhirl's attack. He was impressed with Poliwhirl's execution, having half expected the attack to come out crooked and weird as his usual demeanor portrayed him to be. However Poliwhirl was quick and direct, something he'd carried over from his time as a Poliwag under Crenu's command before he evolved and became unstable. Of course, it could always simply have been Poliwhirl's determination to break the Pikachu's yellow frame with his first, one would never truly know. The opponent and her pokemon shared a glance and it seemed as if they had read each other for Blitz appeared to be setting up his counter attack, but Ryka quickly put a stop to it and ordered her Pikachu to retreat, a sound strategy but one that Blitz did not appear to approve of. As Crenu took in every bit of information from the field as quickly as he could his expression, his posture, and his gaze never changed or even faltered. Instead he only waited for the next opening, after opening a gap like that between Blitz and Poliwhirl an electric attack had to be next.
"Tch, is that all? Where is the creativity that you displayed during the appeals? Your strategy is sound but your execution is lack luster. Perhaps this will be boring after all. Hand standing Ice Beam Poliwhirl." Crenu said simply as he watched Blitz's cheeks spark up as Ryka issued the command for a Thunder Wave. Poliwhirl was quick to roll onto his hands as he blasted out freezing cold energy from both of his palms, they practiced this move so many times Poliwhirl was seriously getting bored of it, it was still kinda cool though. As the blasts of ice continued to pour out of his palms into the ground the ice quickly build up vertically, shooting up into a pillar of ice with Poliwhirl perched on both hands at it's peek, giggling tauntingly at Blitz from his high inverted view. The wave of electricity his the column of ice and dissipated through it, some running down into the stage floor and the rest up the pillar, up one of Poliwhirl's hands and down through the other back down to the floor. He felt only a slight tingle and shook it off as he kicked his legs playfully still laughing. Although it wouldn't cause Poliwhirl any immediate damage, the wave of electricity that was just released would ensure paralysis which was more more trouble than anything against a fast opponent like a Pikachu. The body halted by the pulses of electricity making it sluggish and hard to move, even going as far as stopping one in their tracks all together from time to time making them essentially useless, it was something they would definitely want to avoid this early into the game.
"Stop laughing so much Poliwhirl, this isn't a game." So far so good, but Poliwhirl was too much of a clown and things could still to awry if he lost his focus. Poliwhirl glanced at Crenu as he hopped around on the ice column, jumping back onto his feet. He simply shrugged his shoulders however and kept laughing, he was having too much fun to care. Instead his attention was now on the Pikachu whom he glared at menacingly. Crenu shook his head and sighed, he'd have to deal with Poliwhirl after the contest. "Taunt him all you want later, get your act together long enough to set up a Rain Dance at least." Crenu said firmly as he shot Poliwhirl a piercing glare that was sharper than any dagger, and Poliwhirl shuddered slightly without looking back at his trainer. Arms raised to the sky, or the stage ceiling in this case, Poliwhirl started to shake in a very odd way as he gazed upwards and dark black clouds started to form over the battle field.

Again, Mai found herself unable to suppress her smirk as she saw Katie's reaction to the Aerodactyl, and she scoffed when the girl mentioned that Giggles would be too tough for her. "Katie, honey," she said, shaking her head sadly. "Unfortunately for you, all of my Pokemon are out of your league." She carefully tucked a lock of pale blonde hair behind her ear and offered a polite smile to the orange-haired girl. "However, we're here because we're going to work on changing that, correct?" Her smile lingered despite the harshness of her words, and she glanced over at her Aerodactyl as she took a second Pokeball from her belt. "Your training partner will be none other than my most loyal and faithful Pokemon, Serenity!"
With a flick of her wrist, the red and white sphere went spiraling onto the field, revealing a much smaller and sleeker Pokemon than before - Mai's signature Espeon. The feline-like Eeveelution took a moment to survey her surroundings before she sat down, her gaze fixed on Katie. Her body was still as a statue, save for the occasional flick of her pronged tail and twitch of her ear. "Send out whatever Pokemon you'd like," Mai called over to the orange-haired girl. "Send out two, if you want. Let's make this training worthwhile."

As both pokemon regrouped the Sandstorm swirled to an end, only small traces of weak wind and sand everywhere were traces that it ever was. The bright gym lights now shown down hard on the arena casting interesting shadows due to the floating Stealth Rocks. "All right Cranidos its time to strike again! Use your Headbutt once more! Lets try to take that Turtwig down!" Even with the sandstorm gone Roark was a bit happy to be able to issue commands and not get sand in his mouth.
Picking himself up Cranidos's sharp eyes gleamed in a fierce preditory way as it eyed the grass starter across from him. Leaping up Cranidos landed on one of the Stealth Rocks his talons gripping the rock and giving him a good running grip. The ancient pokemon took off leaping from rock to rock making a zigzag charge towards the Turtwig. When he was close enough he let out an angry growl and using his powerful legs he launched himself at the other pokemon.

Not wanting to upset her Master, Robin gobbled down the rest of her food a little upset that she and her team were being separated. When she finished she watched gave Tony Tony an upset look.
It seemed that as tough as Tony Tony was he had a soft spot for Robins upset look. He finally sighed and put down the knife he had in his hand. "Ok fine, you and Ampersand will travel together until the forest. Once you get there though you need to separate, only Black*Star and Ace will go with you through that." When he finished he watched as Robins face lite up and he felt himself feel a little better as well. Geez when did he become such a sap for his stupid student? He shook his head, there was just something about the girl that brightened up the room around her.
"Thank you so much Master!" Robin cheered as she got off of her stool. Next to her Luffy had eaten more food then all of her pokemon, though Ace and Black*Star had put up a good fight, Raz, Brook and Slowpoke had just eaten enough to fill them up like Robin had.
In his corner Ampersand was on his third bottle of sake and his face was pretty flushed while he cast some furtive glances towards Robins team. Looking over at Ampersand Robin gave him a concerned look before looking over at Tony Tony. "Is he going to be ok?"
Looking over at Ampersand, Tony Tony rolled his eyes before looking back at Robin. "He is going to be ok. Since he doesn't spend a lot of time around pokemon he gets pretty nervous around Luffy, that and I am sticking him with the rest of your team he is having a little breakdown."
Robin blinked a few times not quite understanding why he would be afraid of her pokemon. He had always been fine around Luffy, well other then a bit shell shocked he didn't fall asleep near him. Now that she thought about it the rest of her team was awake and they were next to him. "Um, why are my pokemon awake anyway?"
At Robin's question Tony actually laughed. "Well, you see his little problem goes away if he is under some kind of medication or if he is intoxicated. Really its not to hard to get his little problem to stop working."
"Oh." Robin muttered not really quite sure what else to say.

Jason was really at a loss for words, he'd never seen anything like Jubilife City before and was simply struck dumb by it's sheer size. The buildings, the people, the signs, it was simply impossible to take it all in with only one glance. "What do you think Zeus? Your kinda town?" Jason said with a chuckle as he looked up at his magnemite who was too busy gazing all around with it's one eye at the bustling city. So many electrical devices sending out all sorts of frequencies, every phone street sign neon sign portable devices of every kind and just about everything collecting wifi signals was simply unreal to the the magnet pokemon who was busy picking up all these signals with it's screws. Magnets spinning wildly Zeus was lost in his own electrical world, unknowingly shooting out sparks of electricity in every which direction. "...you alright buddy?" Jason said with a worried look on his face as he reached up and tapped Zeus's cold metal body lightly, a powerful jolt of electricity jumping through his body and shooting him back several feet from a crazed Zeus who rocketed towards the nearest power box. Latching onto the device with it's magnets Zeus started to feed on the current within draining power and causing the nearby lights and signs to flicker. "Ouch...maybe you should hang out in your pokeball until we're clear of the city Zeus..." Jason said as he slowly sat up, returning Zeus to it's pokeball before he could cause any real damage. Jason waisted no time however, jotting down the experience in his notebook, oblivious to the little flame burning at the tip of his hat. "When exposed to massive amounts of electrical signals and cellular frequencies for the first time Zeus, my Magnemite, started acting erratically and lost control. I haven't heard of this happening in mass with other Magnemite so I'm not sure if it is just a Zeus thing or if it is due to the fact that we come from an area of far less electrical activity than a big city like Jubilife city. It's possible that being exposed to such activity all at once caused him to act so strangely, and perhaps given time to get use to the various signals in this city Zeus will return to normal. I will have to collect more data before I'm able to make a suitable claim." Sticking the pen back into the rings of the notebook Jason stashed it away, licking his fingers and putting out the little flame atop his hat as if it were normal to him and got back up, unaware of the stares that a boy sitting in the middle of a busy sidewalk jotting down notes and talking would attract. "Now then, let's see if we can't fine something interesting." He said plainly with a big smile as he headed off in a random direction.

Sasha looked away from Kilik's battle just in time to see Mitsu engage a grunt of her own. With the help of her Gengar she had just narrowly escaped getting blasted by Signal Beam attack. "Mitsu, are you alright?" Before she even got her answer, Kilik called out for her to join his battle, the odds now stacked in a 2v1 against him. "Uh, oui!" she said, her voice trembling slightly. Both of the grunts Pokemon looked extremely mean spirited, and it was no surprise that Sasha was a little frightened. After a second or two of quick strategics, the pink haired girl unclipped a Pokeball from her belt and released her newest capture: Roulette. "Roulette, gardez ce chameau distrait!" she ordered, pointing at the Camerupt. "Hâte! Vite vite!" The Fearow took a moment to let the onslaught of commands from the panicked girl set in, showing no signs of actually agreeing to any of it. "NOW!" Sasha screamed, not in the mood for unresponsive birds when their lives are on the line.
That last one did it. Roulette tucked in its wings and dove straight for the Camerupt, who lowered himself to the ground to dodge. "I'll keep z'hat one distracted, you deal with z'he Houndoom!" she said to her battle partner before returning her focus to the fight, where her Fearow was still dive-bombing the Camerupt, not giving it any time to do anything but dodge, and even then it was not doing that very well.

Winona jumped at the distant explosion. "What was that?" she asked, concerned. "You know, what, nevermind. I'm sure if it was bad we'd-" the Gym leader was cut off by the sound of far off echoing laughter. Winona clenched her fist and took in a deep breath. "Well," she said quietly, turning around. "At least...we know Mike is fine." She was silent for a moment. When she finished exhaling, Winona let out a loud shout and drove her foot into the side of a nearby trash can, kicking it over and spilling garbage everywhere. "What happened to him?" Winona turned to Kasiya. "You traveled with him! Was he-I mean, did this all come out of nowhere for you, too? He was never like this! Sure, he was a little out there, and a bit obsessed at times, but nothing like this." The Gym Leader fought back tears as she stood over the now fallen trash can. "Did we have any warning signs? Could we have stopped him becoming like this?"

Katie's smile very quickly shifted downwards into a frown, her brow creasing as her breath caught sharply in her throat. Her small hands clenched into tight fists but she remained calm, blinking slowly and trying to steady her breathing, which wasn't the easiest of tasks considering just how offended she felt. She swallowed the lump in her throat and forced a smile. "Yup, everyone starts at the bottom, right?" she asked, working hard to keep the shakiness out of her tone. After all, it was obvious that this Mai character had been training Pokemon a lot longer than she had, and as she watched the older trainer release her Pokemon, a rather gorgeous Espeon, she decided it didn't matter if Mai was trying to be offensive or not, and that it would be best if she focused on getting stronger so that one day she could at least be on par with, and perhaps able to defeat the blonde haired woman before her.
"Your Espeon is lovely," Katie called, not bothering to use her Pokedex to check up on the feline-esque Pokemon, as they'd done a unit on Eevee and its possible evolutions a while back when she was in trainer's school. Their teacher had brought in trainers that specialized in training the Eevee-lutions and they'd even shown off their skills in battle demonstrations. They'd all been quite impressive, and Katie recalled wondering if she'd someday capture an Eevee of her own. Right now, however, wasn't the time for thinking about the past and she quickly selected two pokeballs. "Miles, Nell, double Quick Attack," she called, deciding not to waste any time in getting started. That, and she didn't want to dwell on Mai's previous comments towards her.
The energetic Buizel and Buneary appeared side by side in dual flashes of light. The pair took only a second to exchange glances before they both rocketed off towards the Espeon, a trail of white light streaming from behind each as they aimed to strike the psychic-type Eevee-evolution in an X pattern.

"So much to do so much to do, and what to do when there's so much to do?" Jason mused to himself as he walked about the city far from sure of what he wanted to do. The nice nurse at the pokecenter told him that a lot of people new to the game started off by going to battle the gym leader in Oreburgh. Jason wasn't all that interested in badges and such, but he'd never pass up a chance to study someone's pokemon. And a gym leader here in a region he was new too would be a great way to see some tough well raised pokemon and get a feel for the battle styles of Sinnoh. Still, he was in Jubilife and Oreburgh was to the east. There was no hurry so Jason decided it may be best to hang around and explore the city some more, that way Zeus could get accustomed to filtering out the extra electrical noise and not go crazy the next time they entered a city like Jubilife. Ah but what to do when there was so much to do? Before long Jason's random traveling brought him to the particular area of the city that had a small building labeled 'Trainer School' and had some kids filtering in and out of it. One particular girl of about his age was exiting the school in what seemed to be a hurry, and Jason walking around in his usual oblivious daze, a collision was simply unavoidable. The girl stumbled back several feet and fell flat on her rear where as Jason didn't really move much as if he were oblivious to the fact that he had even bumped into someone. "Huh?" he said as he looked around to see what the disturbance was, noticing a rather furious girl on the floor glaring up at him. "Why you sitting on the floor like that in the middle of the sidewalk? That's not very smart." He said with a cocked head, which only infuriated the girl even more. She screeched loudly as a guy ran to her side and helped her up, he was a little bigger than Jason but looked about as sharp as a butter knife.
"Hey what's the big ide'er?" You tryin to muss up my girl friend's purdy dress?" The boyfriend bellowed out as he he stepped up to Jason, the girl screeching in his ear about how the kid in the blue hat had disrespected her and if he was just gonna let him get away with all that and that she thought he cared about her but maybe not. All the while the boyfriend just looked like he was getting angrier at Jason.
Jason however, was lost. He just looked at the bigger guy confused, head still cocked to the side. "What are you two talking about? You guys stupid or something?" He was genuinely confused and crossed his arms trying to figure out what game these two were playing, not really paying attention to the looming boyfriend who looked like he was going to blow a gasket. Seeing his red face Jason just laughed as he pointed at the guy's face, he couldn't help it. "Hee hee hee, you look funny. I wanna play too!" He said as he laughed, imitating the guy's face as he puffed out his chest and glared right back. The girlfriend continued to shriek as the boyfriend gritted his teeth more furious than ever. He grabbed Jason by the collar of his shirt and lifted him up into the air, but Jason just continued to laugh. "Eh? Are we gonna play something else now? Oh I know!" He exclaimed as he tapped the second pokeball on his belt, light flooding out of it as Atlas took shape behind Jason. The Onix, much larger now than when he hatched, rose up towering over the three of them and let out an aggressive roar. "Atlas loves playing games, mind if he joins? Oo maybe your pokemon can join in too and we'll have a real fun time!" Atlas roared out again, unlike Jason he actually had a pretty good grasp of the situation even though he'd just come out of his pokeball. Clearly the guy holding Jason meant him harm and Atlas loved nothing more than a fight.
Seeing the large Rock Snake Pokemon rise up from behind the blue hatted twerp the boyfriend started to tremble a bit as it roared, letting go of the kid and taking a few shaky steps back. He slowly looked at Jason, then at the cranky Onix. "Play? Pokemon? Oh you mean you wanna battle. Huh, a small fry like you has to settle things with pokemon I guess. Ok sure. I'll crush you!" He said with a stupid grin as he took a few more steps back and threw his own pokeball out in front of him. From within erupted a white light and a blue pokemon took form with lots of fur and a big mouth, glaring at the kid and his Onix menacingly. "Let's do it Munchlax!"
Atlas slither around from behind Jason to the front ready for battle, looking down at the Munchlax as he coiled himself up a bit to take up less room. "Huh, a battle? Sure ok, that sounds fun too!" Jason said excitedly, taking out his pokedex to scan the new pokemon before him.
"Munchlax, the Big EaterPokemon. Munchlax is the pre-evolution of Snorlax. It wolfs down its weight in food once a day, swallowing the food whole with barely any chewing. Munchlax often hides foot in it's long fur, though it tends to forget that it has hidden food."

How should I end this game? I can either end it fairly by having Icky, my grimer beat his hitmonchan, or I can have Icky take the hit as a distraction for me to run over there and punch that trainer in the face multiple times so he can bleed all over the ground. Oh! I know a solution!
"Icky roll into a ball and harden! This is going to hurt you more than it's going to hurt me!" I scream a few seconds before hitmonchan connects. I'm no tactician but I know how to fight. I also know something else, I know how to play football! The water and plant types love to kick a ball around all day to get rid of boredom. I did join in when I was young.
Hitmonchan connects as Icky turns into the ball and hardens. He is propelled right toward me where I am ready with a roundhouse kick. Icky slams into my heel as I spin, and the force is very heavy! The harden does keep Icky together, but his smell is so foul it's as if I'm kicking a large piece of crap. I use all the strength I can and slam at Icky. I succeed as Icky shoots toward the hitmonchan!
His trainer was giving him orders but the trainer is too slow. Hitmonchan connects with the hardened slime ball! He is projected fifty feet away and it's trainer has his mouth open in awe.
My foot and leg hurts after that recoil. I can not stand on it very well without feeling a slight pinch in my heel. I think I sprained something with that hit. But to my amazement Icky unrolls himself and waddles a bit before looking at me with a weak smile. He's still good, but barely. Hitmonchan on the other hand is laying in a small dirt pile, built up from the combination of speed and power, and it's own feet digging into the dirt; which pushed him into a pile of dirt created by himself.
I recall Icky, as I believe he is useless for another fight. He's probably floating on that magical one hit point many villains in famous video games like to use. You know the one, where you beat them to that last one hit point and they somehow dodge every hit, but connect with every strike. Yeah, that miserable cheap trick video game designers love to put in their games to tick off the players. But, anyway, the boy refuses to believe his hitmonchan lost to a grimer. But, after a moment he recalls his hitmonchan back into it's ball and reveals another pokeball.
"Crap, you did say three on three..." I mutter as I lean against a small tree. Damn, my foot hurts! "Okay, get on with it boy." I say as I'm tired of his want to be fighting type specialty.

Kasiya's gaze drifted up to the ceiling, from which fine particles of dust had started to fall. The echoing, yet eerily familiar laughter sent chills tingling up and down her spine and she shivered, despite the fact that the Magma Base was situated deep in the side of an active volcano. She scoffed a little at Winona's comment, mentally shaking her head. I suppose that would depend on your definition of 'fine, she thought, pretending to be interested in her fingernails, though when Winona kicked the garbage can she practically jumped three feet off the ground. Shaking slightly, she slowly shook her head. "I d-don't, I d-don't th-think..." She gulped, and forced herself to regain her composure. "I never saw it coming," she admitted finally, biting her lower lip. "After everything we've done, everything we've been through together, I had no idea something like this was lurking just beneath the surface. I always wondered why he acted so brave and vigilant and heroic all the time, and now it's easy to see he was trying to atone, even back then. We... we couldn't have known. We couldn't have. I should have... I could've... I wish..." Her sentences became garbled and hard to understand as once again tears had begun to flow down the girl's cheeks. A few strangled sobs escaped her throat and she sank to the ground, not even caring that she was sitting in garbage as she covered her face with her hands. She inhaled deeply a few times, her sobs quickly dying down as she leaned forward and slammed her fist on the ground, sending an empty pop can skittering across the floor. "Why didn't he tell me?" she demanded, though she knew Winona couldn't possibly answer her. "Why didn't he let me in? I could have helped him!" Her small frame now shook with rage as she stumbled to her feet, grabbing a Pokeball in each of her hands. "I've had enough of this! Let's go," she said, shooting a stern look at Winona before she marched out of the room and into the next hallway, intent on ending this as soon as possible.
=-=-=-=-= Jake let out a small sight of relief as the Sandstorm finally came to a much-welcomed end, and he shook his head fiercely, sand flying from his hair in all directions. "Whew," he murmured, pushing the goggles up from his eyes and blinking a few times. It sure felt nice to be able to breathe without taking in a lungful of sand at the same time. Upon hearing that Roark had called for another Headbutt from Cranidos, he looked to Turtwig. "Watch him closely and dodge!" he called, wondering what kind of shape the ancient Pokemon was in after having suffered that powerful Absorb attack.
Turtwig eyed Cranidos as well, the leaves on his head twitching as he carefully followed the Pokemon's movements. He remembered well how much that last Headbutt had hurt, and he had no desire to feel it again any time soon. He crouched down as Cranidos neared him, waiting for the last possible second before he hopped back, watching with wide eyes as Cranidos' skull slammed hard into the ground where he'd just been standing. His dodge had been quite successful, but being pelted by the small rocks kicked up from the sheer force of the impact was something Turtwig had not considered.

The Larvitar stared at the near quivering Charmander for a moment, blinking to herself. Why exactly was the super serious fire lizard almost quaking in his metaphorical boots, if only for a moment?
“Roll! I think it would be a very good idea to maybe take advantage of this! Use bite!”
Roll’s eyes narrowed as she fiercely nodded in agreement with Alex, and with surprising quickness, she charged down her chosen foe. The bulbasaur. With the whips. Made of grass.
“No! No! Not that one! The charmander!” Alex screamed, waving her arms. But it seemed to be too late.
See, Blossom didn’t like getting hit, especially by bipedal rock monsters that had just been ordered to take a chomp out of her. So, naturally, she didn’t hesitate to loose the bright green vine whips from the bulb on her back. The terrified bulbasaur flailed the two around, one just happening to rocket toward Roll, who just happened to start her turn toward the shaken charmander.
She would’ve gotten hit, and it would’ve hurt really badly, had Roll not somehow magically appeared a couple of feet away from Blaze, her mouth already unhinged. Roll herself didn’t even seem to notice. Honestly, she just thought she moved a lot faster.
Danny started to yell for his charmander to dodge, but by the time his brain processed that order and his voice reached his throat, Blaze let out a cry of pain, staggering backward and wincing. T “W-Where did she even-”
“The Abra used Teleport, I bet. Snatched up the Larvitar and moved her, then disappeared again,” Tara noted with not a small bit of annoyance. It could almost literally take forever to find it, and she really didn’t wanna waste time worrying about that. Her eyes narrowed, her eyebrows furrowed, and she began slamming her palm against her forehead. Within a couple of seconds, while Blues reappeared seated next to his trainer, and Blaze and Roll were slapping blindly at each other with their heads turned, Tara had a brain blast. It was all she could do not to leap in the air and scream ‘Eureka!’ Instead, she looked up and went with the more subtle “Danny, I have an idea. We need to be able to keep some distance between us and them. Blossom, use Poison Powder. Danny, you have to use something to keep that Abra from just finding you!”
A purple burst of toxic spores blasted up from the bud on Blossom’s back, surrounding her in a poisonous haze that she hoped very much would keep teleporting foes from materializing in her general vicinity, especially the psychic kind. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw the Abra’s face shift in minor annoyance.
In the mean time, Danny and Alex were staring at Blaze and Roll’s fight. The flailing arms were moving in a blur, the Charmander’s scratches almost uselessly sliding off Roll’s rock hard hide, while the few of the larvitar’s spastic flailing blows that did connect were sad glancing blows with little actual power behind them. It probably would’ve gone on forever if Blaze didn’t snap and spit out a flaming orb directly into Roll’s face. The tiny exploding fireball was enough to send her back scrambling again. Blaze smirked, snorting a line of smoke, utterly pleased with his small victory.
“Yeah! You go, Blaze! Push that enemy back!” Danny exclaimed with a grin, offering a thumbs up, which Blaze stoically returned.
Roll swatted at her face to brush away some ash, and she was equally thrilled that she hadn’t been set aflame. Alex almost squee’d when the larvitar giggled with the realization, and actually squee’d when her adorable Roll spun on her heels and waved with cheerful abandon at her trainer, pointing at her face to prove it wasn’t so horribly scorched.
As Alexis returned the wave with a giggle, Danny looked over at Roll. And he’d be darned if that wasn’t just the cutest thing he’d ever seen. “Aww, she is just adorable!”
“T-Thanks!” Alex beamed. “And your charmander is really cool! I bet he’ll be the most… Well… Coolest Charizard ever!”
Roll would’ve blushed if she could’ve, flashing a super cheerful grin. Meanwhile, Blaze simply closed his eyes, the subtlest shadow of a smirk passing his face. It was clear that both of them were incredibly proud of the complements they’d made. In fact, they’d apparently completely forgotten about the battle.
Tara and Blues hadn’t. They weren’t super amused. If fact, if Blues could so express himself, he’d have the same incredibly annoyed expression that Tara had. The lowered eyelids, the irritated scowl, the folded arms…
And poor Blossom just felt left out. Everyone else was getting called adorable and cool, and here she was, sitting in a cloud of poison, pouting. It was pretty depressing. Unfortunately, no one noticed.

Mai chuckled quietly to herself as she observed Katie's response to her previous comments, but she said nothing more on the subject. Though she was not consciously aware of it, Mai had inherited her estranged father's talent for unnerving and belittling his opponents before and during battle. She simply nodded at the compliment towards her Espeon, curious as to what (or which, if Katie did indeed choose to use two) Pokemon would be sent out for the first portion of the training match. She raised an eyebrow when she saw the Buneary and Buizel appear, and Katie quickly set them on the attack. "She's ambitious, that's for sure," the Rocket murmured before giving the nod to Serenity, as the Espeon would know what to do.
Serenity's gaze shifted quickly between the two advancing Pokemon - they were pretty fast despite the fact that they were so young - and she let out a sharp cry. The jewel in her forehead shone with a brilliant energy as a shimmering, green protective barrier formed around her. She remained still even as the attacking Buizel and Buneary slammed into the sides of her Protect before bouncing off harmlessly. The shield flickered a few times and faded, and the Espeon gave a soft trill and took a more defensive stance than before, still watching her two opponents quite closely.
=-=-=-=-= It was about an hour or so after her battle with Venerax had ended, and Karrigan was quietly reflecting on it as she made her way west from Bill's Lighthouse, intent on returning to Cerulean City. The match had ended with her Sneasel, Ikouma, claiming victory, but Callistra the Beedrill had not made it easy for them. The redheaded girl smiled to herself as she replayed the Poison Bee Pokemon's deadly Twineedle attacks in her mind, and how deftly Ikouma had dodged them. It had been a great learning experience for all of them. After that, Bill had healed the two tired Pokemon before uploading some of his research on Pokemon and evolution to Karrigan's PokeDex, and then she was on her way once more. Karrigan didn't have any particular plans after meeting with the famous researcher, though Venerax had mentioned something about a Pokemon Contest taking place in Cerulean that evening, and Karrigan decided it would be interesting to see how much different contests in Kanto were compared to Sinnoh. Bill had even given her his ticket for the event, as he'd wanted to go but would end up being too busy to attend.
Karrigan then bid her new acquaintances farewell and went on her way. It was a nice, scenic walk along Route 25, and she could hear a bunch of Pidgey chirping away in the trees. One of the tiny birds landed in front of her and pecked at the ground, occasionally looking up at her with curious eyes. Remembering Bill's advice about letting Zaira battle more to help her use up some of her abundant energy, she took the Shinx's Pokeball from her belt and released the small blue and black Electric-type. "Alright, Zaira, time to work off some of your energy. Tackle attack." The kitten-like Pokemon shook herself and looked around, quickly spotting the Pidgey that was now looking at her intently. She took an offensive position and growled sharply, activating her Intimidate ability and unnerving the Pidgey somewhat before she charged at it. It gave a chirp and flapped its wings, narrowing its beady little eyes at the charging Shinx, apparently quite willing to battle.
