I managed to wake up shortly after my head went light from that medicine. Zii was pacing back and forth and smiled large as I opened my eyes. My brother was sitting by the window like he always is. I always wondered what would happen if he was in a room with no windows. I bet he'd break a hole in the wall, not to escape, but to see outside. He's daydreaming I know that much.

"Hey." I said while looking at my brother. "Hey." He replied. Yes my family is a family of many words; sarcasm.

"Where did mom and dad go?"

He actually turns to me and smiles. He hasn't done such an action in five years. The last time he did that was when I caused the car to catch on fire. I did not know punching that small square on the side of the car would cause the gas to explode. My eyes grow wide as I am now thinking of the worst possible scenario. Did they get hit by a car? Did a Charizard eat them? Did the cops arrest them for pimping out pokemon? So many questions were shooting through my mind until he looked right back out the window.

"They went home... Your dumbness."

"You know what, I can get out of this bed..." But I stopped, instead of saying it I did it. I got right out of the bed and ran up and punched my brother so hard he broke the window as his head hit against it. I must be slow from the medicines though as my brothers foot meets mine and my chin slams right on the slick floor.

I naturally jump up and cuss at him, as Zii is laughing and rolling on the floor in the corner.

"Hey! I just got over a poisonous incident! I should not be hit." I screamed at him as the doctor enters my room.

"If you did not want to be hit you should not have hit. It's like creating a bomb and not wanting it to explode." He returns as the doctor enters.

The doctor really does not waste much time, "Ms. Ningyo you may leave. Your blood is cleaned from the poisons and all the bacteria has been neutralized. I recommend for your health not to go sewage diving again."

I nod my head understanding, but I did catch a pokemon while doing it. So I shrug and grab my stuff. It's time to find that Onix! ....oh and I thank my brother for staying with me, and teaching me another cool technique in his fighting style.

He may be a Plant and Water enthusiast, but he is a brawler first. He's the best teacher.

While his eyes and ears were busy searching for the AWOL Totodile, Jasper's mind was busily replaying the previous battle with the young bug catcher. He mostly felt annoyed at himself for not noticing Paras and Ditto's round of tag-team, even if he had to admit to himself on some level that it had actually been quite the clever move. Even still, he didn't like the idea of Ditto jumping in and taking over for the Mushroom Pokemon, as the little guy needed to learn to take care of and battle for himself. Hearing Miharu's voice snapped the bandanna-clad boy out of his reverie and he turned to look in the direction she had indicated, grinning sheepishly to himself as he was glad at least one of them had been actually paying attention. Sure enough, however, the missing Totodile from the lab was there, playing with another, and very suspiciously-coloured Totodile. Jasper sighed, and resisted the urge to slap himself in the forehead with his palm. 'So much for being inconspicuous,' he thought. 'But at least Ditto is really getting good at transforming into other Pokemon.'

He wasn't quite sure how to answer Miharu, as her words had sounded more like an accusation than a statement, at least to him. "I did only lose one," he replied finally, shrugging his shoulders. "That doesn't mean there can't be other Totodile out here." At this point the two gators had stopped playing and were watching the humans carefully, though the actual Totodile blinked a few times and looked behind them, where two familiar figures were approaching. 'Oh great, just what we needed, an even bigger audience,' Jasper thought irritably, but he slapped on a smile and simply shrugged again. "Actually, no," he said, eying Scarlet's accusatory finger warily. "I went to see the professor about getting a Pokedex, and there was a bit of an... incident and this little one managed to get away," he explained, nodding to the normal-looking Totodile. "As for the other one, well-"

Jasper wouldn't get a chance to try and explain why a shiny Totodile was running amok around Route 29, because as soon as Ditto saw Cindy, his eyes lit up and he danced over to her, trilling excitedly despite the deathly aura of hatred radiating from the fire type. Before Jasper could stop him, Ditto dropped to all fours and his body began to shimmer. With in seconds he'd transformed into a perfect copy of the Quilava, with the only noticeable difference being that instead of a navy blue, his fur was a roan red. Jasper rolled his eyes and sighed mentally; the jig was definitely up now. Ditto-Quilava gave a short, happy bark, a few small flames shooting up from his back and head before they died down again. "Yeah, he's mine," Jasper finally said, giving an exasperated sigh. 'Honestly, has Ditto forgotten everything I've taught him since we started out on this so-called journey?'

Hayley stared up at the older boy, blinking in confusion as she took in his words. He wanted to battle, because she ran into him? It seemed a tad juvenile, which was saying something for the overly-excitable Bennett girl, but at the same time she figured it was better than being challenged to battle simply because she'd walked by someone and made eye contact. "Uh, sure," she said, now noticing the boy from earlier as she stood up and tried to brush the dust from her pants. The bluish-haired boy seemed to have decided to watch the pending battle, and Hayley offered a small smile and, glad to see that he hadn't been carted away to wind up as breakfast for some bird Pokemon's hatchlings, though she quickly realized that being waved at by a total stranger was probably creepy.

"I see you've got two Pokemon, so I'll only use two, as well," the older boy said, already unhooking a sphere from his belt. "The name's Jan," he added, hardly even hesitating before he tossed it out. A small bird appeared on the field, glaring at Hayley with a pair of beady little eyes. Its feathers were ruffled and it looked as though it were constantly in a bad mood. It hopped up and down a few times before giving a grating-sounding squawk.

Hayley stared down at the small creature as her brain kicked itself into Watcher-mode, almost instantly forgetting that she was supposed to be sending out a Pokemon of her own in reply. "You should take better care of your Spearow's feathers," she told the boy almost accusingly. "And you really should be filing down those big cracks and gouges in its talons. It also looks to be a bit underweight, are you sure its getting proper nutrition? What kind of Pokemon food are you feeding it?"

The girl's sudden string of questions made the boy trainer fumble a bit, though instead of answering her he just stared at her, mouth slightly agape. "That's none of your business," he growled once his brain finally did connect with his mouth. "Are you going to send out a Pokemon or not?"

"Oh, that's right! Whoops, my bad!" Hayley giggled sheepishly before she released her recently-acquired Rattata. The Mouse Pokemon shook herself and glanced around quickly, her gaze stopping on the bad-tempered Spearow. Mya got herself into a battle stance, her ears and whiskers twitching excitedly. She was eager to show Hayley and that self-absorbed Charmander what she could do!

Miharu had raised an eyebrow at Jasper when he mentioned it could be a wild Totodile. It wasn't that she totally disagreed with the statement, it was just more that it wasn't likely to be true. After all, Totodile were Water-types, and this area wasn't exactly teeming with watery landscapes. She looked up and followed Jasper's gaze over to the two boys from earlier, and Miharu felt a tremor of guilt shoot through her stomach. Why did it have to be those two? she thought, wanting very much to look away, but she quickly decided against it and simply offered a small wave. "Hello, Jett, Scarlet," she said, noting the growls coming from Scarlet's Quilava. She also noticed the grown-up looking Noctowl perched on Jett's shoulder. "Hey, your Hoothoot evolved? Congratulations," she said with a nod, but then she looked back at the pair of Water-types.

Jasper had already answered Scarlet's question, at least about the regular-coloured gator, and he'd started to mention the other when it ran over to Cindy, seemingly happy about something. Miharu watched with wide eyes as the Totodile then transformed into a Quilava, though again its colouring was quite off. "It can use Transform?" Miharu questioned, looking to Jasper curiously. There were only two Pokemon that Miharu knew of that were able to use the Transform technique, and those two were Ditto, and Mew. Miharu quickly took her PokeDex from her bag and scanned the reddish Quilava, which sure enough showed up as Ditto on the screen. Well, that explains a lot, she thought, thinking back to when she'd first seen Jasper in Violet City. He'd been with a Pikachu, and now she couldn't help but wonder if his Ditto had been masquerading as the electric mouse the entire time. What a cool Pokemon, she thought, having completely zoned out from any conversations that might have been sparked by Ditto's sudden transformation.

"H-how?" the female grunt asked in astonishment as she watched Portabello step out from the smoke untouched.

"Because I'm better than you." Mike replied bluntly. "Good work as always, Portabello." he said with a pleasant smile before recalling his Pokemon. "Now then, are you still going to get in my way, or am I free to go?"

"N-no way!" she shouted.

"Just what I wanted to hear." Mike said to himself. The grunt motioned to her two partners to follow her as she ran towards the boy. The other grunts looked skeptical for a second, but seeing as they outnumbered the scrawny, tattered boy, it gave them the confidence to join in the charge.

"I'm gonna pound your head in, freak!" one of them shouted in a deep, gravely voice.

Ooh-hoohoo! I'm so excited! Milo cheered, clapping his hands together in anticipation. Mike inhaled in a deep breath through his nose, taking in the smell of burned cloth, hair and fur and let it out softly. He stood in place as the larger of the two male grunts reared back a fist and drove it into the side of his cheek. The initial jolt of pain shot a rush of adrenaline through the boy's body, and he found himself smiling widely as the electric sensation of both pain and pleasure coursed through his veins. He coughed out a small chuckle, ducking the grunt's second swing but catching the girl's punch to the other side of his face. Before Mike could retaliate, the remaining grunt swung around behind him and grabbed his arms, pressing them against his back. In the boy's confused state, the other male grunt dove to the ground and grabbed his legs, effectively freezing the boy in place.

The female grunt looked at her friend that lie on the ground, battered and unconscious. She took in a sharp breath and averted her eyes to Mike, who stared right back. "Why? What did he ever do to you?" she asked, slapping him across the face.

"He was in my way." Mike replied simply. "If it makes you feel any better, I knocked him out so he wouldn't feel it anymore." It didn't, and the girl began slapping Mike across the face repeatedly. With each slap, Mike began to laugh louder and louder. This only drove the girl into a deeper rage.

"What! Is! So! Goddamn! Funny!?" she screamed as she hit him over and over.

"It's just-ah-ha-ha! I'm sorry! It's just-your! Your! Your hair is on fire!" The girl stopped and looked at Mike in confusion as he took in a breath as Milo watched on with delight, knowing what was about to happen.

"What the hell are you talking about? My hair isn't on fire. Are you-" In a brilliant flash of orange, Mike spewed a short burst of flames in the girl's face. It incinerated her eyebrows and eyelashes and proved that Mike was not a liar. The female grunt screamed at the top of her lungs as she smacked the top of her hood to try to put it out. Using the distraction, Mike threw his head backwards into the grunt's nose and kicked the other in the face. The grunt that was behind him stumbled back and held his nose. Mike jumped free of the other's grip and pounced, landing in front of the arm-holder's chest. The grunt lowered his hand and tried to take a swing, but Mike was too fast. The boy clawed the grunt across the face and spun around, raking his nails against the grunt's skin. He cried out in beautiful agony as Mike elbowed him in the stomach, and then put all his might into a kick to the shin. With a final resounding snap, he was on the ground.

Yes! YES! More! Milo cheered. The one on the ground! Hurry! The phantom pointed an elongated finger to the man holding his heavily bleeding nose. Rather than waste his energy, Mike decided that it would be both time-conserving and much more entertaining to watch him tire himself out, and elected to simply set his clothes on fire and laugh as he tried to put them out.

Soon all that was left was the girl, who had managed to stop the fire but at the expense of nearly all her hair. Her scalp was burned very badly, as was her forehead, but it was nothing permanent. She screamed as she saw Mike draw near, and tried to run away. As luck would have it, she tripped, and twisted her ankle. All she could do was cry and plead as the boy drew closer, swinging wildly in his direction. Mike caught her wrist and leg and leaned in close. She cried out in pain as the heat from the boy's hands beg to burn her skin.

"Shhh..." he said as he let go and put a finger to her lip for just a second. "The worst is over." he said softly, putting what was left of her hood over her face. "I'm not going to hurt you any more." His words did little to put the girl at ease. "I just wanted her to love me, is that too much to ask? Is it?" The grunt shook her head frantically as tears began streaming down her face.

Awww! Poor baby! Milo laughed. I just want her to love me! To hold me! Someone please feel bad for me and how I feel! Why doesn't anyone care about me? he said, imitating Mike's voice, albeit at an insultingly whiny tone. Why does no one with red-hair ever put my needs in front of theirs like I do with them!

"Shut up!" Mike shouted, gnashing his teeth at the shadow, who only laughed in reply. The girl looked over in the direction to where he yelled, but didn't see or hear anything. She was far too afraid to even ask. Mike looked down into the girl's eyes. They were filled with an unrivaled sense of fear. Looking at her he could tell that she had never been this terrified in her entire life, and that was all he needed. Mike took in a deep breath and stood up. "Go. Get out of here and don't you dare think of coming back. As of today, Team Magma is finished. Now leave." The girl did not need to be told twice, and got to her feet, hobbling away as fast as she could.

Milo loomed over Mike's shoulder and hissed. Why did you let that one get away? I would have liked to play with her. Mike grit his teeth and swung at the phantom. His fist went right through him, cutting him in half. Milo disappeared like smoke in the wind with a sinister chuckle.

Nice try.

Scarlet nodded as Jasper explained that the Big Jaw pokemon dashed off from Elm’s lab. It was really too bad. If it was Jasper’s it would’ve been one monstrous beast of a pokemon later. The trainer had begun to continue his explanation, this time about the one the redhead noted was most definitely not the color most Totodiles were when it trotted over to Cindy all chipper-like, decidedly immune to the death glare she cast at it.

Then it started glowing and shapeshifted into an off-color-but-damn-near-perfect replica of Scarlet’s quilava.

“Dude, that’s awesome! Is that what I think it is!?” According to Scarlet’s father, there was a pokemon in Kanto capable of transforming anything it laid eyes on, copying its moves and abilities at the same time. Ditto would be an awesome addition to any team, and the red haired trainer was totally jealous Jasper managed to get his hands on one.

In the mean time, Cindy hopped back with a squeak from sheer shock, relatively sure, after multiple battles with her arch nemesis Vector, that Totodiles most definitely could not do what that one Totodile just did. As she did so, the patches on her head and back blazed up before settling back down. She eyed Ditto for a moment before gingerly reaching out to pat him on the head. Just to make sure he was real.

Jett remained fairly quiet during the exchange, gazing curiously at the Water-type Pokemon. He looked up when Miharu addressed him, as if he had forgotten that there was a Noctowl perching on him. As if he had forgotten that the Noctowl was his. The thought brought a smile to his lips, albeit a small one.

"Thank you," he murmured softly, not quite sure that the girl could hear him. His words seemed to die out as he watched, like the rest of the group, the uniquely colored Big Jaw Pokemon approach Cindy. His lips parted, a warning on the tip of his tongue, but then the Pokemon changed shape. Athena's head slowly canted to the right, and a soft hoot escaped her. Jett's surprise seemed fairly mild; he, like his fellow well-read or experienced trainers, knew the capabilities of a Ditto, but its strange hue still intrigued him.

Jett recalled Jasper's story, and slowly looked to the actual Totodile. He didn't want to be an annoyance—already, he could feel a strong bout of insecurity weighing down on him—and he calmly recalled Athena so she wouldn't go off startling the little Totodile.

"Well, why don't you get this little guy back to the lab?" he proposed cheerfully, tone not betraying how self-conscious he felt. He didn't want to force his company on the two, but they were heading in the exact same direction, so he continued, "and Scarlet and I will be right behind you in case he gets away again. We're heading to the lab to get our Pokedexes, too!" Jett finished with a kind smile aimed at Miharu and Jasper, somewhat glad he had gotten the courage to talk to everyone at once. Note to self, work on people skills...

I managed to leave the hospital without the nurses seeing me. I can only assume the medicine they used on me was expensive. My brother also realized, and then told me, that they filtered a lot of bacteria from my blood through a machine which screams more money for me to own. Why is it that Pokemon can be blasted by solar beams or get cut up by cut attacks, and they get to be treated to full health, but us humans have to pay for our medicines and health care? I really do not understand that. Zii does not mind this, but it bothers me. I'm just glad I got out of there before they charged me.

Zii looks at my devious grin and lays his forehead into his palm while shaking his head. I think he disagrees with my dishonesty. I don't care, I'm going to keep running from the hospitals. I can only imagine how much they would have charged me. Anyway, I was getting to a decent distance until this kid runs up to my side. He has got to be under ten years of age... Then why is he still taller than me!?

"What is it kid? I'm not feeling up to knocking you out right now. It wouldn't be fair for a younger person than me." I said, trying to be the bigger person. Big...sigh.

"Hey I see you have three pokeballs! How about I challenge you? I can also use three pokemon! How about it lassy?" the kid says.

"What the, I don't have three pokeballs!?" I look at my belt and notice the three balls. Oh yeah, I just remembered; Treecko. "Yes, I have three, but I will only use two on you. That's all I need."

The kid smiles and nods. He's awfully happy to be challenging me. Does he not feel intimidated by me!?

The kid throws out his ball, the light flashes and a...Oh My Gawd! A Hitmonchan appears in front of my face! Not literally, he appears about fifty feet in front of me. My mouth opens and I pull on my bangs in enthusiasm!

"I want that Hitmonchan!" I scream in excitement.

"Bruiser is not for trade! Now, you're pokemon lass." The kid said. What does lass mean anyway!?

"Zii, stand out of this one. This is a fighting type, and a strong one at that." I say as the kid smirks.

"You must know your fighting pokemon lassy." The kid says while rubbing his nose like a street fighter. I do the same thing and put on a smile.

"Yes I do, that is why I had to catch this lil stain! Icky go!" I say as I release Grimer from his pokeball. My fascination with Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee has given me the understanding that Grimer does not take any attacks at full force. Grimer appears and lets out a fart noise and then his infamous, 'Grime' dialogue.

----------------------------------------------------------

Well well well, the girl is looking at me. I'm really hoping she does not become a crazed fan of mine like my army of nuisances. I do want to see what she uses. I recall seeing a Rattata and a fire type before running away for my life. The male who challenged her seems intent on challenging her. Well, it is better than walking randomly through the brush and being poked in the rear and turn around to see a man with a fishing net who challenges you. It only happened once, but it was still disturbing. The challenge never continued due to me not having any pokemon. I was still young in the academy.

I lean against a railing near the pokecenter and watch while analyzing the challengers. The girl seems distracted once the Spearow is revealed. The look on her face says it all. She looks to be in a trance; like staring at a diamond which has one contaminated crack along it's ridge. Perhaps it's the Spearows coat. It is a bit rough. I find some trainers only care about the fight, and not the pokemon. It would not pass me up if Jan is this type of person. Hmm, I wonder where he received the Spearow from. It still looks a bit amateurish. I ponder if he just caught it and not realized how much he roughed it up. Either the bird's coat is roughed up due to the lack of care for it, or Jan just caught it and has yet to heal the pokemon. Either way, the vigor from the girl's rattata shows a strength that the Spearow should take into caution.

The rattata on the other hand still has a child like nature to it. It may have that logical relation to a human child who has dedicated themselves to one thing and then finds a shiny stone, which distracts them from their goal. The rattata seems eager to prove something though I do not know.

On another note, the girl seems like a casual trainer. Her way of talking is not stuck up or fierce. She cares for pokemon and how they are treated. I can see her holding or cuddling her pokemon if they succeed in this battle. I also deduct, if the spearow is not weakened the rat type will be over powered, and will not be able to prove what he has to prove. The skies are clear and there is a weak wind. If the spearow can attain aerial combat the rattata will not succeed. Though she still has a charmander, the boy also has a second pokemon which still remains a mystery. The second pokemon though is sure to be a vigilant one due to it being Jan's first pokemon. His other pokemon in terms is his original, so thus being the strongest. I would love it to not be a water type. I'd like to see this girl win. I really don't know why, I guess I can call it self interest.

Katie had followed along quietly after Mai into the forest, also amazed at how quickly the daylight seemed to disappear as they went deeper and deeper into the trees. The forest felt the same as it had when she'd entered it the first time, but at least now she could hope she wouldn't have her stuff stolen by a thieving Pokemon. Katie had considered starting a conversation to help pass the travel time, but she wasn't exactly sure of what to say. She was still wondering about the possibility of Mai having an Aerodactyl when they stopped in the clearing, and right away Katie noticed the Old Chateau nearby. She herself had never been inside, but she'd heard stories of the place being not only a playground for various ghost-type Pokemon, but for spirits in general.

"Hmm? How easy?" she repeated, turning to face the blonde haired woman. "Oh uh. Well, tough enough, but you know, not too tough?" she answered, shrugging. "I want my Pokemon to gain experience and learn something, but not get utterly destroyed in the process, y'know?" Her gaze drifted to Mai's hand, which seemed to have chosen a poke ball. "Ooh, is that your Aerodactyl? Can I see it now?" she asked, taking a few steps back. She'd read that they could be quite vicious, and she didn't feel like taking any chances by being too close to it.

Mitsu ran after Kilik and Sasha, very glad that she had changed her attire to include shorts instead of a skirt. I couldn't have been very comfortable for Sasha at all Mitsu thought, averting her eyes from the pink haired girl's choice in clothing. She eventually caught up with her partners and just in time for a few more grunts to appear from the dark.

"Heh. Let's get the girl," one of the male grunts called out, throwing a sloppy hand towards Mitsu. It wasn't hard to pick her from the group, she clearly looked the most scared and vulnerable. Therefore, she was the weakest link, the most obvious target.

"I-I wouldn't underestimate me," Mitsu said, her shout not really one at all. She had been silent the whole time until now, the trip to the base and through the base had been thoroughly unnerving and more than enough to silence her.

"Volbeat, Signal Beam!" The order was thrown out. The grunt didn't even have the decency to wait for Mitsu to release her own Pokemon. But I guess that was the kind of people who did menial work for an evil organization.

Mitsu covered her head with one hand, grabbing a random Pokeball from her belt with the other and throwing it forward. "D-do something!" Mitsu shouted, eyes clenched shut.

What happened next, she hardly expected. A big, wet, pink tongue licked the side of her face and an eeriely comforting laugh echoed off the walls. "Ebony!" Mitsu cried, half laughing. The Gengar winked at her, patting her head a bit too hard after having easily deflected the attack with a Shadow Ball. That's right! If they were going to get through this, she couldn't be scared. She had to make sure that she was strong and ready to fight, just like her friends. They, too, were counting on her! And she was strong too!

Mitsu grinned, giving her Ghost type a high five, "Ebony, let's play."

Amy was on edge that night; that was certainly the understatement of the week. The girl had her door locked, made sure the phones were fully capable, and was preparing for hours in the well-lit room to calm down. This was, of course, after the scalding hot shower that she took while Flora patrolled outside the bathroom.

Her resolve was ever strong, perhaps even strengthened by the horrific events of the evening. From now on, Amy would be prepared for battle and she wouldn't be afraid because she had her Pokemon. Calmed slightly by these thoughts, the girl fell into a slumber of tossing and turning.

Nightmares plagued her dreams; actually, her dreams were nothing but nightmares. Her father's back, perhaps her last image of him before he left, only grew smaller and smaller as he continued into the darkness of the pupil of a single pitch black eye. It loomed over the girl, stealing her breath as it neared, finally overtaking her in its darkness.

Amy was falling, falling further and further into the abyss. Her head tilted back, and when she tried to breathe, just breathe for one moment, she was gone. Drowning in cold waters, watching as Scarlet and Cyan and her mother loomed over her, watching with pity in their eyes. One by one, they all walked away, and she remained in the water's depths, writhing and trying to call for help.

Her eyes snapped open only to find more darkness, and panic flooded her brain. Her fingernails clawed at the sheets of the bed, and the sound of her shuddering breath shocked her. Someone, most likely Nurse Joy, had switched off the lights, or maybe the lightbulb just blew out. Amy carefully looked around the room after her eyes adjusted to the darkness, staring at the silhouette beside her on the bed for a few moments. Flora was on the bed, sleeping soundly beside her, and her heart seemed to settle a bit. She wriggled closer to the Pokemon, hoping that her Bayleef's presence would stop any more nightmares in their tracks. At the very least, she would know Flora was there when she woke up.

After a few more moments of calming down, Amy let her head fall back on the pillow, hugging the Leaf Pokemon slightly. Soon, she was falling back into a very fitful sleep.

A pair of little grey birds darted up and out of the underbrush as Mai chuckled in response to Katie's answer. "Yes, I understand," she said, nodding. "My Pokemon, well, most of my Pokemon are trained well enough for that." The Rocket Admin continued to smile, knowing that her Typhlosion and Seviper would both be sidelined for the duration of this training session. "Sure thing," she added in response to Katie's question about her Aerodactyl, and she motioned for the girl to take a few more steps back before she gently clicked open the Pokeball belonging to the ancient Pokemon. White light spilled from the sphere and quickly took form, shaping into the winged Pokemon that was Mai's Aerodactyl.

Giggles took a few steps forward and stretched out his wings, surveying the area around him. He quickly noticed the unfamiliar orange-haired human, and his nostrils flared a little as he took in her scent. She didn't appear to be a threat, but that didn't make him any less wary of her. The Aerodactyl looked back over his shoulder at Mai, who nodded. "Don't worry, she's a friend," she told the ancient Pokemon. Giggles blinked once before going back to studying Katie, having taken Mai's words to heart even though he was itching for a good fight. The dual Rock and Flying-type ambled away from the two humans before perching atop a nearby rock. Mai was grateful for the Pokemon's good behavior, as it reflected well on her as a trainer. She made a mental note to get the Aerodactyl a treat later as she looked over at Katie. "Believe me now?" she asked, smirking.

Ryka clapped gleefully with the mass of contestants backstage. She had made it through! With a breath of relief, Ryka watched the screen to see that both Riza and Crenu had made it to the next round as well. Riza had tied for first with herself, as well. Glancing towards her opponents, she sent a warm smile of congratulations their way. What's more, her next opponent would be none other than Crenu. What a challenge! Mag asserted to this notion, though adding encouraging words.

"Thank you, Mag." Ryka said with a great smile. "Of course, it will only work once. But all the more reason to think of better strategies, yes?" She bent down to scratch behind the ear of her newly-evolved Delcatty, who purred quite happily. "Crenu...he will definitely not give up. We viewed his training earlier. He will be quite a challenge..but yes. I'm sure we can give him a good battle!" Ryka said her final thanks to her supporter before heading out to take her place on stage.

Across from her stood the man himself: Crenu. Looking almost sinister, he held a gaze that could freeze any person in their place. Ryka offered a smile to him before reaching for Blitz's Pokeball. She gracefully tossed it into the air, a red flash releasing the frisky Pikachu. As he did a little wake-up shake, electricity and static sparked from his fur. He glanced around, happy to see all the people watching his every move. And then he laid his eyes on his opponent. A Poliwhirl! How exciting!, he thought, pairing his narrowed eyes with his mischievous smile.

"Best of luck to you, Crenu!" Ryka called across the stage, her hands cupped at her mouth. "Let us have a wonderful battle!" With a final wave, Ryka awaited the first move from her opponent with a smile (what a competitive opponent Ryka was!).

Crenu watched as Ryka took her spot on stage, tossing her pokeball into the air and releasing her pokemon. He didn't know any of her pokemon other than the cat thing she used in appeals, but he was still a little surprised to see a Pikachu on the other end of the stage staring down his Poliwhirl. An electric type, this was bad for a water type like Poliwhirl. Would he get extra points taken away for getting struck with an electric attack? Maybe not, but if Poliwhirl was knocked out during battle it was an automatic loss regardless of point total, and one to many electric attacks would ensure that would be the outcome. Still, Crenu did not falter, barely nodding at Ryka as she wished him luck returning the sentiment. This was the moment they had trained for, and this was what Poliwhirl had been wanting from the get go. He was excited, he stared at the Pikachu from his hand stand glaring back at it with great blood lust hardly able to wait for the first command to flow from Crenu's throat. There was a moment of silence as the two stood there, until without warning Crenu's arm shot forward, waisting no time now and going right for the crushing blow. "Brick Break!" He had barely finished saying the first half of the command before Poliwhirl was off, rolling onto his feet and shooting for the Pikachu. But just as he appeared to be coming in directly from the front Poliwhirl shot up, bouncing up with his powerful leg muscles and coming down at Pikachu from above. Fist aglow with power Poliwhirl's fist left a streak of white as he shot down at Pikachu like a meteor ready to crush it to dust with it's attack.

"What is that pokemon?" The kid asks as his pokedex flips up and informs him of my poison type pokemon: Icky.

"So is this ding ding ready to fight kid?" I ask while he nods while listening to the pokedex's description.

"Bruiser," The kid yells. "Revenge, make sure if Grimer hits you hit back harder!"

The hitmonchan flexes it's muscles and begins growling in anger, getting ready for the physical attack to occur. Now, I'm no idiot. Grimer does know how to use pound, but if it's fighting pokemon I know how to defend against them.

"Icky, Poison Gas!" I say as Icky nods his head.

The kid is surprised I would use such an attack on a pokemon I love. But, in the end that is not my pokemon. He is an opponent and I want him to lose. Icky's poisonous gas spreads like a cone of smoke towards Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan attempts to jump out of the way but becomes enveloped before he jumps. He does manage to make it away from the smoke substance, but Hitmonchan coughs a bit as purple smoke appears from his lungs. Attack was successful, and his revenge does not work! Victory for me, yay!

"Hitmonchan! Fine if she wants to play it that way, Comet Punch! Keep punching until grimer is a wet stain." the boy says, a bit aggravated.

"Icky, wait for it..."

Hitmonchan lowers his upper body and shoots forward like a bolt of lightning. He is twenty feet away, now ten feet away.

"Protect!" I command as Hitmonchan is five feet away.

The purple shield rises around Icky as Hitmonchan's comet punch meets. A spark of purple appears and Icky is struck back a bit. Another punch lands on the shield and Icky is pushed back once more. The third attack of comet punch lands on the shield and Icky remains where he is smiling his drool like smile.

"Three hits," I mutter under my breath. This Hitmonchan is strong. This trainer knows what he is doing. Hitmonchan does grab his chest as the poison is affecting him, but unless Icky lands some attacks Icky is in for a loss.

"Icky he's close! Pound him into the ground!" I command and Icky listens. "Grime" he says as a blubbery arm reaches into the air and turns into a hammer like object. He slams downward missing Hitmonchan by a lot of space. This hitmonchan is fast.

The kid manages to see what is going on. I flinch as I notice he notices.

"Hitmonchan, agility! Do not let the grimer hit you!" The kid says while feeling a victory coming on.

Hitmonchan's speed rises a lot as he is getting to the point of blurs. Every move he makes seems like a blur. Do not get me wrong, I've seen faster; but this is the beginning of a very fast pokemon. If this kid raises hitmonchan correctly, hitmonchan can be the best fighter on his team with multiple attacks of every element. Luckily for me the poison is still causing Hitmonchan problems.

"I know you can beat him Icky, Harden so his attacks do not strike you as hard." I say while Grimer's gooey self gets a bit harder. Now it'll be like punching a bag filled with goo. I get tired just thinking about it.

"What is your name lassy? I would like to know who you are, because you are also a fighting enthusiast and know what you are to do with one and against one." The kid says.

"I am Laichi Ningyo!"

As Kilik was about to issue another order to his Electivire, he noticed that Mitsu was immediately caught up in her own battle, blindsided by a Volbeat's Signal Beam. He growled and turned his attention to his own battle, clenching his fist. So the Magmas played dirty, just like Rockets. He was certainly used to this; he knew the inner workings of these kinds of organizations having busted Team Aqua and worked for Team Rocket, it was a regrettable skill to have, yet it was also invaluable. The boy tilted his head and popped his neck. "Alright, Cable! We've got the upper hand! There's no way he could outrun you now!" He threw his arm out in front of him, hand forward and fingers open. "Give him whatever you got!"

Cable nodded and looped his long tails around his shoulders. He got down on one knee as if he were about to break into a sprint, and shot off like a rocket towards the paralyzed Machoke. As he started to run, he curled up into a ball and electricity covered his entire body. Electivire slammed himself right into the Fighting-type's chest, then dashed to the right, crashing into Machoke's side. Cable was darting about like a pinball, leaving a few bolts of lightning in his wake. He skid to a halt a few feet away, grinning proudly.

"What in the world was that?" Kilik questioned out loud, pulling out his Pokedex and holding it up to his Electivire just as the electric aura around him was disappearing.

"Electro Ball: This move gains power the faster it is than the opponent"

Kilik burst out into a small laugh. "Ahah! And with his already incredible speed, coupled with the Paralysis from the Machoke, it would've been really powerful!"

"Enough of this!" The man roared, clenching both of his fists. Machoke took a step forward and fell flat on it's face, completely knocked out. Growling and glaring at both Kilik and his Electivire, he grabbed two Pokeballs from his belt and let them fly. "Camerupt! Smash him to bits! And you too, Houndoom!" The two spheres burst open and out came the two Pokemon. One looked like a dual-humped camel, only the humps were volcanoes. The other was a pitch-black hound with curved horns on its head and the appearance of ribs along its back. Camerupt took a heavy step forward and the ground shook beneath him. Houndoom lout out a howl, followed by a few puffs of fire.

Kilik took a slight step back, his eyes darting from one opponent to the other. Electivire could handle the Houndoom with relative ease; it was a Dark and Fire type, and had no resistances against Cable's attacks. The Camerupt on the other hand...It's a Ground-type, and essentially shuts down every one of Cable's best moves!

Cable gave a hearty thumbs up to his trainer. He would be able to handle it! Certainly...he turned his head to face his two opponents, digging his heel into the dirt and holding his arms out at his sides, like a sumo wrestler ready for its opponent.

"Cable, wait! We can't risk it." Kilik sighed. He looked over his shoulder at Sasha. "Well, mademoiselle? Care to lend a hand?" He smiled. It would be the first time he'd battle alongside Sasha. Mike had put the three of them into a group and they had to work together; Mitsu had a problem of her own to deal with - he'd help her if she needed it too.

"Great idea, Carmen!" Maz nodded, looking over at Train. "In the mean time, I'll have Murkrow do a search. He can always see better at night!" He tossed a ball up into the air and let the Murkrow free. "You're looking for a...what was it again?" he tapped his foot in thought and snapped his fingers. "An Oddish and uhh...Raticate! The Raticate should be easy to point out, they don't show up in the wild 'round Cerulean. The Oddish, hopefully, should be near by! Go, Murkrow, go!" The bird rolled it's eyes and flew up into the night sky and towards the trees.

"We got eyes in the sky," he gave a big thumbs up and a hearty grin to the other two. "If he finds anything, he'll let me know! Now Carry's idea of having the Growlithe sniff their Pokeballs is grand. It'd give him just what he needs to seek 'em out." Mazarin punched the air and laughed. "Beautimous, this whole idea!"
