My school has a jazz band too, but they claim only saxes and trumpets, the brass people, get to be in it. evil There was one flute in it, but of course it was the only boy flute player in the band, and he has been playing flute for six years, since he's from South Korea. Then for some wierd reason he quit jazz and stayed in regular... confused

I play both, the flute for concert season, and the piccolo for marching season, and i love it. I'm in the 10th grade and I've been in band for5 years now and i wouldn't trade it for anything.

Anyone ever hear of a piece called Rush? It's so awesome!^^ It sounds oriental and goes relly fast. I can't play much of it (I've had it for like four days), but I'm in love with it!

Keltzy oggywoggy222 *dashes through, changing the thread topic to conform to accepted BNG standards* Did I do something wrong? Sorry!! Hmm, must repress erge to kill section leader. Grrr. Last year I was section leader in my band, and considering 3/4 of the flutes in wind ensemble came from my band last year, I should be second chair. Miss prissy 'though is buddy buddy with one of the other flutes, so she stuck me as temporary 3rd chair. I moved to this band to escape easy parts, not to be stuck with more of them. But I managed to actually play in tune for the first time in my life. Yay!! Good Job for You! I just got an open-hole Emerson flute, and a tuner...i swear the girl who sit's next to me is tone deaf! She can't determine if she's flat or sharp so she makes the whole flute section sound like it sucks! I want to smack her, good thing I'm first chair though!

Except I don't want to smack the girl next to me (who's nickname, ironically, is Smac! blaugh ) I want to beat the entire 3rd flute section behind me with any instrument I can get my hands on; tubas, base drums, bass clarinets, a basson... No! The gong!!! twisted

My school surprsingly does not have that many pics we only have about five of them and the flutes outnumber them by thirty. Yes, our school is just that big, but we're nothing compared to the Clarinet section. @.@

i have played flute for 3 years. i would have continued in the flute but my parents took me out of school so my private class was only once a week, whereas my in school one was everyday (except weekends). in elementary school we didn't have chairs, but when i got into middle school i was seccond chair flute. first chair flute was a short blond chic and third chair was this ugly chick that had nasty fingernails and lookd and smelld like she bathed mayb once a month
