Layna stared at the figure, trying to figure out who knew her. Who had been gone for a long time? The thought struck her as swiftly as a hammer. She stepped back slightly, her eyes wide. "Why are you here..." She whispered, truly mystified. Her whole scalp seemed to tingle as she thought the name. Diego.

He pulled back his hood revealing that she was indeed correct. He wore his same twisted smile but there was something different to him. Diego glanced down at the boy. "Hungery." He said hinting that he would eat her son given the oppertunity. Returning his gaze back to her though his face changed into a humored smile rather than the evil twisted one he had worn when he had found out about the death of his own son Jarex and the death of the young lycan Jeff. "Boredom mostly. I've traveled and seen that the humans are as dumb to the wars as they've always have been. When she took a step back he took one foreward.

Layna bared her teeth at Diego, her arms a cocoon around Gabriel. "Things have changed around New York, Diego. We are no longer able to be as open..." She stepped back again, her silver eyes showing a small light of fear. She had not forgotten Diego at all, or the time he had tried to kill her, but wait, it wasn't just once, but twice. "It is hard to be...unafraid of those Humans who kill us off one by one..."

He raised an eyebrow. "Oh yes I forgot about those random special humans turned hunters. Damn their annoying... But very tasty." He said the last part with an evil grin. Suddenly he was crouching and looking at the little one in her arms. His evil demeanor and smile sudden vanished as though he had always been a puppy at heart. "What's your name little one? I'm glad that atleast you don't fear me."

Gabriel's white-haired head peeked up over his mother's arms. "Gab...riel..." He sounded the words, blinking grey eyes at the man. Layna stared defensively at Diego, careful. "He's nearly two..." She whispered softly, unsure how to act. She had been afraid of this man for such a long time. It felt difficult to push away that guard.

"Where's your mate?" He asked blatantly still looking into Gabriel's eyes. "That's very good Gab-riel." He said not mocking the child but saying his name so that the little one would think he had toubles pronouncing things as well. Diego might have been able to guess he could only remember a few beings that had white hair but most of them weren't lycan and the few that were only one was male. He shifted his weight as he slowly stood up, his body popped at a few joints as they loosened up. Standing at full height he was two heads taller than she was.

Layna's eyes misted as she kept herself from pluging back into the hellish memory that pressed on her. "He is dead..." She muttered simply. What else could she say? It pained her to speak of it, though she knew people would ask. "He died....three days ago..." Her mind whirled that it had been such an oppressively short time. Gabriel, on the other hand, was not as affected, for he did not understand things like that yet. "Graar!" He sounded, mimicking the noise that Steffon the black wolf had made to him when they had played.

Diego sighed and shrugged his shoulders the words came out without even a hint of disgust. "Sorry to hear that Layna." He knelt down again and made a playful face. "Rawrrr." He made the noise in the same tone as the child had. Diego glance up to her eyes for a moment checking that they were puddling with tears. "Don't think on it too hard, you have that little one to deal with now and by the time he reaches his adolesent age... Well..." He laughed slightly.

Gabriel reached forward with small hands, giggling at the man. "Doggie!" Layna blinked back tears from her eyes, surprised. She looked at Diego, and laughed softly, truly relieved that nothing had happened, yet. "I'm sorry for him, Diego." She said, wiping at her eyes with a free hand.

Once the child said doggie Diego grinned and forced his eyes to change into that of a lycan's rather than a humans. "That I am little one." He said gently before standing up. "It's understandable, no little one should grow up missing a parent." He ran his fingers through his hair and looked at the sky. "It's been a long time since I've been here, though I'm not all that sorry about trying to kill you... A couple times but I am sorry that a being that close to you was taken away." He chuckled slightly and sighed. "That vampiric vixen I was with disappeared on me, so she's as good as dead... Well more deader..." His hands moved into what could be considered pockets. "I'll pose you no threat, and even help if I'm around with the little one. Saddly I've changed from what I once was... My concience has come back..." He cursed the little voice inside his head that made him feel bad for some things. "So look even though you don't trust me and I expect you never will, I'll help with what I can." Internally he was cursing left and right for turning into such a bleeding heart. He somewhat wished he would have laughed at her for loosing her mate and made her mad but then when he saw the child he was reminded much of his own offspring and it pained him to know that he took his own childs life on a whim.

Layna nodded, yet again mystified. She thought over his words for a moment, one side telling her that he still was dangerous, but all Lycans were dangerous. And the other was more considerate. People could change, so perhaps he had. Gabriel was squealing, reaching forward, past her arms. She sighed. "Would you like to hold him, Diego? He's dangerously curious." She smiled slightly, her voice forcefully light.

He took a deep breath then sighed. "Sure I'll hold your dangerous child." He gave her a half hazard shrug and knelt down. He would make the child walk to him if he was going to hold the boy. "If he comes to me I'll hold him." He said he held a hand out for the child to grasp. While the other arm rested at his side.

Layna set the child down, the boy squealing the entire time, wanting to be let go. He wanted to play with the man, wanted to run around and be a wolf. But he was not old enough for the change yet. As his feet touched the ground, he fell flat on his face with the first step. He wasn't truly accustomed to walking, he liked to run, like his mother. "Come on, Gabriel. Go on." She coaxed, smiling. The boy looked at her with a giggle, and stood up, taking wobbly steps to the outstretched hand. His little hands took hold of the one that seemed ten times his size. Layna smiled slightly, thoughtfully, but paused, looking about her worriedly. "I didn't want to worry you..." She muttered quickly toward the shadows.

James ran hurriedly through the park, on the verge of a meltdown. He was now the abomination that had bit him the night before. His life was going so well before Laureen. He had given up gangs years ago, and now he was in a gang that no person even knows about. He was going to make that b***h pay for what she did to him. She turned him into a lycan, and he wanted revenge. He cocked his gun and held it at his side. He was going to make Laureen wish she had never met him.
