Kai Leaped up again as the dragon tried to swat him aside again. but was met with The silver blade slicing through his rocky claws as they fell too the floor shattering into small boulders. He continued past the attack and landed on the dragon's skull. "So, it looks like I'm going to have to resolve this the old fashion way." He smirked and stabbed his sword into the rocky skin and flew over it's back dodging the trees and shrubs that swung towards him. Kai flew up into the air as a giant gold and white hammer formed in his hands. "This is going to hurt... alot" He muttered folding his wings falling towards The dragon's head. He was less then a few feet away when the earthen dragon saw him and tilted it's head up swallowing his whole. "... well this is inconvenient."

At Alec's words, Danni's eyes darkened a bit, narrowing as she considered. She thought back, digging deep for memories she'd rarely bothered to remember before.

Her mother, a perfectly arched brow raised in cool disinterest as she looked down at her youngest child. Passing her off to the housekeeper, her nose wrinkled in disgust on the occassions when Danni reached out, looking for the comfort of her mother's arms.

The stinging swat of a brush across her backside when she wouldn't sit still and let her mother stick painful pins in her hair, trying to keep the thick curls in place.

The crushing disappointment that had her running to her father's lap as her mother took Lia by the hand with a stern warning that proper little angels didn't play with dirty heathens.

The utter terror as her mother's fingers had wrapped around her throat, bruising, punishing, absolute fury and disgust in her icy eyes.

When her eyes cleared, she looked Alec square in the eye again, and her lips curved in a hard smile. Her eyes, though, seemed ancient, dark and deep and gleaming with a knowledge she wouldn't share.

"Birthing unit, huh? Yeah, that suits her. Right down to the ground." She scrunched her nose a bit at the thought of giving birth.

"Right, child birth...Glad I got to skip that with the Spawn Man..." She muttered, shaking her head as she found a paperclip on the desk, absently twisting it into a heart shape.

Alec decided to use that reference to Danni's quarine to move on to one of the other things she had been stressing over. "Aaaaaaaand on THAT note... care to explain this quarine business? What's eating you about that exactly?"

((Haha, thank you. I'm not even supposed to be online right now razz I had rehearsal today but I overslept. Tomorrow we have off and then Monday and Tuesday-- the days we have no school-- I also have rehearsal. So HOORAY. FOR. ME. neutral lol and that's good, I'm glad you're not constantly waiting up on me because then I'd truly feel miserable whenever I logged on D: ))

Dymetri's head emerged from the water quickly, hair completely obscuring his face. He pushed his hair back with a hand and gave her a sideways grin, one eyebrow slightly higher than the other. "It feels wet," he said, his usual lilting voice now deeper than usual. His smile brightened his entire face and it seemed for a moment that he'd disappeared.
He let a few moments pass, let Lin get closer to the edge to try and find him. His hands sprung out of the water, directly under her, and pulled her down with him.
As her head arose, his did too. His arms were around her and Dymetri's forehead was against her own. His sheer platinum eyes looked down in her own and his smile grew soft. "I love you too. I also think a lake party is fantastic."

Some moments passed, Dymetri absorbing and equally giving the warmth from their bodies as they floated together. The sky grew dark, however, and the temperature of the air chilled. They were in the middle of a forest, Dymetri realized, the sudden thought coming to him late because he hadn't been the one to guide them here. "Time is irrelevant when we are together. I'm beginning to wonder if that is good or bad," he said under his breath, aware that anything could be watching them.
Small fluttering was heard, branches were being moved. "Lin, my love, we must go home," he said quickly, beginning to move out of the water with Lin still in his arms. It was freezing above the water!
Then suddenly, the sky above them brightened.

Hundreds-- no, thousands-- of blue morphos butterflies appeared above the lake. They began to fly downward, but not toward Dymetri or Lin. They dipped down at the edge of the lake, at the wet mud that surrounded them.
"Holy s**t," Dymetri breathed, still carrying Lin over the threshold. "Were you aware of this?" The sight was beautiful; it almost left him speechless.

Danni jerked her shoulders, and her frown returned. "My quareen's name is Poopsie. He wears overalls, runs around barefoot, sucks his thumb, and carries around a Raggedy Andy doll. I don't have the faintest clue what the hell to do with him. I don't know how to deal with the boy, how to make him see I can't be what he needs me to be. But if I don't take care of him, bad things happen, so I've been told. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?" She demanded, more irritated than upset by this subject at the moment.

Alec looked off into space for a moment as he thought about Danni's blunt (but honest) question. What COULD she do about that? From the sounds of things Danni's quareene was... just about the complete opposite of Danni. Or at least... the opposite of her now. But then again, the Danni sitting before him had a lot of tendencies that arrived out of necessity and necessarily want. Was Danni even sure of who she was anymore?

Alec decided to find out. "Danni, maybe the problem is that you're looking for a way to escape... uh.. Poopsie," even the name sounded weird, "and instead, maybe you should be thinking about yourself. Are you SURE you're not right for Poopsie? That you can't be what he needs?"

"Because he wants me to be his mother. His mother, for Christ's sake. I can't be a mother. I'm not maternal. I don't have that in me." She shook her head, twisted the paperclip from a heart into a star with restless fingers.

"He terrifies me," She shook her head, let out a breath at the admission. "God, he terrifies me. And Jesus, I don't see why he won't just go away. The point of him was for me to accept my 'inner spirit' or some s**t. Well, I've accepted it. Before I learned better, I was a clingy, naive little child who laughed when there was absolutely no God damned reason to laugh. But I'm not anymore. And I can't be, not ever again. So he needs to go away.' She shook her head, narrowed her eyes at the paperclip and tossed it impatiently across the room.

Alec sighed as he turned around and put one hand on Danni's shoulder, and the other on the side of her face, turning it up gently so she was looking him in the eyes. "Danni, the point of a quareen is to see who you are and come to terms with it. A quareen does this by not only becoming that which you want to be, but also causing you to do things that you wish you could do. Whether you like it or not, there's a part of you that wants to be a mother. And if your quareen wants you to be it's mother THAT bad, then there's still plenty of hope for you to become the person he wants you to be. That YOU want you to be. A quareen never asks more than it's host can give, otherwise they'd destroy themselves in the process."

Alec let go of Danni's face, but still held on to her shoulder as he spoke again. "Remember what I said before? How I see only Danni here in front of me? It's the same for Poopsie. He sees only you, because he IS you. Shadowrunner may not be able to be a mother, Isadora may not be able to either. But Danni... Danni's a whole different animal. Danni's got the potential, the drive, and vision to be what Poopsie feels is best for you." Alec let go of Danni's shoulder now as he got up from the desk and began to wander around in front of the desk a bit. "Not that's not to say that you HAVE to give up who you are now. If you really like being a sadistic, methodical killer then go ahead. But I've known killers that have been exceptionally good parents too."

Danni froze for a moment when Alec touched her, and her eyes darkened as he spoke. "Do you think it's that easy?" She demanded suddenly, anger flashing. She shouldn't have thought he'd understood. Nobody understood.

"That I can stop something I've been working towards my whole life just because some sentimental part of my soul wants me to be better?" She got to her feet then, unable to explain even to herself why his words had touched such a chord in her.

"You say Shadow Runner's not a mother, that Isadora's not, but Danni is. How the hell is that possible? They're all me! All of them. Isadora is who I was, the cowering little child looking to please mother. Shadow Runner is...God, do you realize how long I've been working to make that name mean something? Shadow Runner is respect. Shadow is power, Shadow is intimidation. Shadow is somebody that makes demons cower in the Realms and gods take a second glance. Danni...Danni's a suicidal nobody who can't do basic math or keeo her God damned anger issues under control. She's weak, and she's flawed, and she's...Damn it, I don't know!" She was pacing now, her hands stuffed in her pockets, back and forth across the front of the room.

She turned one accusing glare at Alec, her eyes narrowed, confusion and desperation swirling in them. "You say you look at me and you see Danni, only Danni. But how can you? How do you know that? Hell, most of the time I don't know who the hell I'm looking at when I stand in front of a mirror. I. Don't. Know." She kicked the desk then, the only physical act of anger she indulged in at the moment.

For a long minute, she stared out the window, her teeth clenched, her eyes hot. And then she let out a long, slow breath, and returned to the seat, settling down in it and folding her hands on her lap.

"...I'm sorry I snapped at you. It was inexcusable." She said, her eyes blank again now, her voice calm.

The dragon let out a Roar and turned to the goblins still attacking him with sharp sticks. raising his claw to kill them all he stopped and put the claw up to his throat as Two daggers ripped through the middle of it's neck. Kai climbed out as the Dragon began to flail, spread his wings and took flight as his hammer formed in his hand once again. "Well that was a trip I never want to go on again ... So I won't." He smirked and fell from the sky once again. this time slamming the hammer into the sword in it's head. Kai waited a moment as the dragon stood perfectly still, then leapt into the air as it collapsed with a thundering *thud!*. "Well this was random, wonder what he meant by a ice dragon."

{{LOL! I love it when you sneak on here. wink Do you think that even though you have rehearsal on Monday and Tuesday, you might be able to come online since you don't have school? I don't work Tuesday, so we could RP for awhile together if you wanted! biggrin And no, I'm not waiting constantly, so don't feel miserable! XD It's a treat when I see your posts!}}

Lin had yelped when Dymetri suddenly pulled her into the lake. When he had disappeared from the surface of the lake, she had not been worried about him. She knew he could take care of himself, but she was awfully curious. Well, curiosity didn't kill the cat this time, but it sure got her wet. After the shock of the cold water wore off, though, she actually found herself enjoying being in the lake with Dymetri quite a bit! He also looked so very handsome in the moonlight with water dripping down his face, his hair plastered to his forehead.

When he leaned his forehead against hers and spoke, she grinned brightly and tightened her arms around his waist under the water. She never got tired of hearing him say that he loved her, especially after having believed that she'd never be able to hear him say it to her again. She also was quite pleased that Dymetri was enthusiastic about the lake party idea.

"We should have it this evening, then! I will ask the secretary to announce it over the speaker system so that everyone can come if they wish. It might be a good chance for me to meet some more fellow classmates as well."

When Dymetri spoke and told her that time seemed to be irrelevant when they were together, her breath was nearly taken away. He had managed to put into words exactly how she was feeling! She, however, knew exactly how to think of it.

"I think it is absolutely wonderful! Not only can we be in our own little world, but time also seems to stand still for us. I do not believe that there can be any greater gift we could have to help us share our love and lives together."

She leaned forward to kiss him gently, but then she felt Dymetri tense under her hands. She pulled back and looked at him curiously, but before she could ask, she heard him say that they needed to get back and he quickly brought them out of the water.

It did not take long for her to hear what had made Dymetri nervous. When a loud rustling came from the forest, she quickly tensed up as well and drew herself closer to Dymetri. This way, her pendant could protect both of them. However, her nervousness did not last long. Soon, a large group of amazing blue butterflies came out from the den of trees and started flying toward the lake. Lin's eyes were large with wonder and amazement as she took in the sight before her and Dymetri. It was truly magical and perfect for this moment. She almost hadn't heard Dymetri's question in her haze of wonder, but luckily she had elven ears that picked up almost anything.

She turned to him and shook her head with a soft, amazed smile on her face. "No, I was not. Usually, if I am focused enough, I can sense creation all around me. However, this time, my focus was on someone else. I did not realize they were nearby."

She did not know if this was a good thing or a bad thing, that she could become so absorbed in Dymetri that she lost sight and focus of anything else around her. However, she did not want to think about that right now. She was so happy and she wanted to stay that way.

Lin smiled lovingly down at Dymetri, kissed his lips slowly and gently, and then looked back at the butterflies. Her eyes began to glow softly and then her voice became low as ancient elven words began to flow from her lips.

Moments later, the butterflies began to float toward Lin and Dymetri and then started to fly around them in an enchanted circle. It was absolutely beautiful. She whispered her thanks and appreciation to the butterflies around her, once again in elvish, and then looked at Dymetri with a bright smile on her face.

Alec stared at the spot where Danni had kicked his desk, noticing a sizable dent and several splinters in the wood. Alec would fix that later though, it would only take a minute at most. For now though Alec turned around to look Danni in the eyes, speaking calmly as he tried to carefully organize his thoughts. "...It's alright. ...Look, Danni, I never expected you to change overnight. In fact, I don't think I'm expecting you to change at all really. The potential to be the good person Poopsie sees you as is already in you, it's just dormant. It's up to you what you want to do with it."

Alec's eyes got a bit harder though as his comments touched on other matters. "But all this talk about respect and who you were, who you are now. Honestly I think you've got a few misconceptions. You say you got respect as Shadowrunner, and that's true. But respect from who? A bunch of murdering demons that take pleasure in other people's pain? Beings that are on, or at least near, the same level as your mother? What's to be gained from their respect? Why would you even want it?" Alec looked out the window as he thought back to his own past, his own mistakes and struggles. "I found out a long time ago that the only person who needs to respect you is yourself. And the only people's respect you should want are those that you yourself respect."

Alec looked back at Danni as he continued. "And this 'weak self', this old self you're talking about. You're right, Isadora was weak. Because you were a kid! You only wanted what was pure in your eyes, a mother's affection. There's nothing wrong with that. That sentiment is something you should carry with you to this day. It's good to want things like that. The problem comes when people expect or chase blindly after such things. But you're smart, you know you can't always get what you want. But it's okay to still want it."

Alec's eyes softened now, his voice as well as he touched on the last subject Danni brought up. "And as for you, Danni. I know that I see Danni because I look at you for who you are as a person. I know that you are kind at heart, you wish to protect those that matter to you. And if you're willing to give your life for those people, then that is the greatest form of love there is. But if you don't know who you are, it's because you're going through a strange time. Think about it. You're free the puppet strings of..." Alec stopped himself before he kept going on. He remembered how Danni had made a pact with Riser, of all people, to borrow his power and use it to learn how to grow stronger. The pact had infuriated Alec, but it was Danni's choice in the end. "Well, most everyone's puppet strings anyway. Right now you have the freedom to do as you wish without any expectations, bargains, or 'fated' outcomes. You can be you. You just don't know how yet, because you've never been able to just do what you want. You've always had someone telling you what must be done, what you must do, what has to happen. But not anymore."

Danni's anger faded to weariness slowly, the confused fury simply leaking out of her, leaving her eyes tired, so dark and sad. "Do you always have to be right? You and Arzol have that annoying habit..." She shook her head, curved her lips into what may have passed for a smile.

"And you are right. Respect from a bunch of eternally burning assholes...I wanted it because it was either be respected or be eaten alive, most likely very literally. But I got that respect by hunting down murdering bastards, dragging them down to hell. I got respect by downing demon blood like a determined Irishman and lounging around on a throne like Satan's favored pet." Those gray eyes darkened with self-annoyance, and she pushed her hair back.

"But once again, you're right. I'm used to having somebody trying to pull my strings. I've got one more puppet master to deal with, but I put myself into that situation by myself. He's giving me a chance to protect someone who matters." She smiled again then, but there was no warmth in the movement, no humor. It was cold, her thoughts seemingly hundreds of miles away.

"I don't know if its this 'great love' you're spouting off about, but he matters, which is just plain annoying, really." She scratched her chin, her finger staying there, just below her lower lip, as her eyes narrowed in thought.

"Riser's got some notion that I have to prove myself worthy first. Damn if I'll ever give him a reason to doubt me. I love having a purpose. Protector, guardian...avenging warrior...Whatever works. Gave my word, after all. It means something." It was like she wasn't even talking to Alec anymore, more to herself, staring past him at the wall, her eyes dark.

Alec saw that Danni was becoming more and more detached from the conversation as she talked. She was no longer talking to Alec, she was talking to herself. Something most people did in private. And often times when people did that, they tended to talk out their problems on their own. Finding truths they were usually too stressed to think about on their own.

Alec saw where the conversation was going, and rather than snap Danni out of it, he decided to play off of it. Alec's voice was quieter now, almost like it wasn't there. And yet it was. With a bit of magic and soft, tender tendencies, Alec was able to make his voice sound like that little voice you hear in the back of your head, asking you simple questions you already know the answers too. "Yes, of course. It does mean something. But what does it mean exactly?"

Danni blinked at the soft voice in her head, and her hands spread out in front of her, palms up as they moved, as though encompassing the room.

"Everything," She murmured, then said it again, firmer this time. "Everything. It means everything. It's my word, isn't it? It's not something to be given lightly. If people can't trust me to keep a promise, how can they trust me to speak the truth any other time?" She asked, tapping her fingers idly on the desk.

"I'm not usually big on promises. But when it matters enough, when the person's important enough, it's not something you have to think about. There's only a handful of people who would trust my word, which is why there's only a handful of people who matter. Arzol, Cook, Alec...Ialo." She frowned at this name, blinked and focused on Alec for the first time in a few minutes.

"I wouldn't lie to you. You're one of the handful." She said, offering a smile.
