My problem is, is it treats people like horses or something... even if they do keep themselves from over inbreeding.. it's still very much like breeding animals in terms of the main reason why it's done.
Daemon personally couldn't see the attraction, but he did know the historical reasoning behind it.

Personally, Gion replied flatly, I don't understand why anyone would want to do it in the first place. It truly does cause weakness! And for each time that it happens, the offspring lack more and more intelligence. So really, by inbreeding, they're only making their clan stupider and stupider.

Too much inbreeding yes, families that do, do so, do it because there are qualities they still wish to keep, especially true wtih races where certain gifts are rare you'd be suprised.
Daemon chuckled.
It reminded me of those stick in the mud elders that Yume once debated with, I don't know why though... no one in her clan really listen to them.

Debates? Gion raised one eyebrow, interested. What about?

Those little get togethers her clan has are normally with other clans, after all they often have magic, sometimes the gift and it strengthens clan relations. Besides the fact that I was an outsider, I was from the West and my culture and beliefs... or lack of... are completely different from Yume's. Granted I'm more likely to see the East's way of things about spirits and other creatures... seeing threads all the time does that to you. Anyhow.... I digress.... the elders had a fit when I asked her to marry me because Yume was one of the strongest spiritualists they had. I didn't even have mage linage... since techically I'm the first generation of my family to have a gift.
Daemon seemed to shrugg.
They argued all of this, Yume took me by the neck and pointed at the elders and told me to tell them what I saw. Their auras and threads she meant... well that certainly took the wind of their proverbial sails... I thought they were going to dislocate their jaws.

Daemon chuckled a bit.
You're not the only one.. .Yume's grandmother was thrilled, she never did like those particular elders anyhow. Then again she didn't like my father neither, I think she wanted great grandchildren to spite him.

Daemon laughed a bit.
Yes, it is kind of funny when I think about it. Ah well.. her grandmother was a witty person.
Then again he realized the females of the clan tended to be like that for some reason.

Wit is a great skill, Gion grinned. Not everyone has it.
The green was coming closer now, and he was looking forward to the river ...

It is true... Daemon repleid back.
So where are we and what's the time? These conversations always make it pass by so quickly.

We are about a day's journey from the river, Gion replied happily. I can see the green already ... and it's nearing the dinner hour, though the sun is still hot. It won't cool til nightfall, but that's all right.
And suddenly he thought of something.
Do you ever feel hungry in there? he questioned curiously. I mean, I know you can't eat and don't have to ... but do you ever want to? Do you miss it?

I don't feel hungry... or thirsty.. probably because I don't have a body.
Daemon replied.
Though I miss tea.... tea time in general....

Gaian tea, I would assume, Gion chuckled. I don't think anyone would miss our tea.

Why? Is there something different about your tea?
Daemon asked very curious, he liked tea, though not fond of the tea his wife liked... not without honey.
