Vahn sprinted along, moving down the street, passing skirmish after skirmish. He knew when to call it quits, and when to push ahead, and right now, he couldn't be bothered with tyring to take out an army of lower class demons... it's not like he could just eletrocute them all or something.

He scowled, as he turned his head to the left, seeing several demons catch up to him, running alongside him now as well. s**t...don't these things know anything about 'fatigue'?! After so many moves, normally you'd get tired by now! He turned a sharp corner, leaping off the top of a worn out staircase, aiming to land on the bottom.

However, one of the demons had leapt into the air, and easily roundhoused Vahn away, causing a sharp cry of pain to tear out. The fighter landed onto the floor, only to get pushed to the side by a sliding kick from another demon.

~~

Samuel pushed forward, his bulky frame coming from below Sunstrike, talons aiming to tear right into his legs.

The attack had been nothing but a diversion of course, the resulting explosion and confusion of it which would allow the demon to move forward concealed somewhat, and attack in closer range.

By now, it was no secret that Samuel was the result of a "fusion" with a demon and a lizard. So he rettained the characteristic properties of his race, as well as gaine the bonuses of the other.

Sunstrike made a strangled sound as the large creature came for him, his thoughts becoming truths as Samuel had moved exceedingly fast through all that mess.

Sun''s large form jumped backwards, giving him enough air to plant his hands on the passing Samuel''s back, the demon''s spines raking and cutting the scales off, and throwing himself over the huge monster, to land on his feet from behind.

Then he did the unthinkable...he literally grabbed the tiger by the tail. A huge kind of jolt went through his one hand. He yelped, gritting his sharp teeth as his wings opened. The staff came around and whistled towards the side of Samuels head, mostly in reaction to the pain.

Sunstrike

Shouyin

Previously in Barton Town...
Shouyin hopped lightheartedly off the bus as it pulled into Barton Town. Shouldering his backpack again he bought a fairly detailed road map, giving concise directions to Durem, Latent, Strata, even the Stadium! He shoved it in the bag and got in a taxi to his cheap, but comfortable house in the suburbs. The man fixed himself a dinner and took a nap, waking up with a start.

He'd forgotten to tell Kan.

Picking up the phone in the kitchen he found the line dead. Obvious, considering he barely paid the plumbing and electric bills as it was. A sigh and he gathered his things once again and stepped into the garage, hopping in that monster of a car/SUV/beast and speeding off. The map was open beside him, folded and highlighted slightly in blue pen to show how to get to Strata.

God willing he'd make it. Shou was crap with directions.

And continuing in Strata:

Well, all Hell had certainly found a way to break loose here. More concerned with how he'd achieved reaching this place with such ease then what was going on, Shou simply plowed down the main road, many the unlucky, thing, getting an intimate introduction with the truck's mighty bumper. Following what Kazuo had said on the elevator, he sped out of the East gate, driving out into the desert.

For some reason, he could've sworn he'd seen that Kasuga fellow getting pummeled by some demon-things, but shrugged it off as another well-toned man with red hair, yellow eyes and a rather unique scar across his face being beaten to death. Some might question their morals at this point, Shouyin just realized he was pretty hungry.

There was a sickening crunch, as Samuel's head twisted in a direction it was never meant to go. For a moment, it looked as if gravity had chosen to simply hold the body up there, before letting fall back down tot he ground.

However, the body never fell.

Samuel's throaty laughed started up... as he straightened himself up, and began to actually twist his head properly back in place.

"I'm going to enjoy this..." Samuel's maws opened, and he let loose a shrill shreik, as his tounge whipped about madly, swiping a taloned hand at Sunstrike.

Sunstrike

PostPosted: Sat Sep 03, 2005 3:13 am

There was impact, and with a pathetic sound Sunstrike went rolling and skidding along the ground, actually falling into the crater that Ezekiel and Samuel had made earlier. Blood spattered the ground where his wounded face landed, rents opened in horrible scars, three of the five claws had torn open his skin and scales, barely missing an orange eye.

That had been none too bright, Sunstrike...you're gonna have to get a grip on yourself and stop panicking...stop thinking about the boy, the people, your friend....and use something bigger...you stupid lizard.

Earth and fire...what could you do...

Suddenly the ground shook throughout the city.

Earlier, when Nahara had used her magic a bit, it was explained that earth magic was the tedious task of telling the rock it would be better off moving from the place it was, to somewhere else. It was a gentle kind of magic, made for moving rocks out of peoples way, tilling earth and generally home grown purposes.

When added with fire, it became one of the most destructive properties on the planet. As it was, Sunstrike didn't have enough power to call a full blown volcano to form in the middle of a city, and that wasn't really what he was going for, as the ground suddenly rent open. The earth-quakes would be felt in the city, but the fire damage would only be centered at the circle that had appeared before North Gate.

These guys wanted a fire bringer it seemed, well ******** if they weren't gonna get one of the two that landed in Strata. Sunstrike rose to his full eight foot height, balanced himself, and began to move full on towards Samuel. Even as another rent tore open with a molten explosion. The earth around him turned as black as his scales, and the blood from his face hissed as it made impact with the super heated ground he walked on.

It was interesting to note, that around Hibon, the ground never changed. Something reflective and black tinged with red seemed to surround him, shivering like a mirage in the heat.

You are weak, Sunstrike...

The lizard grinned emotionlessly, and got in a defensive stance as the very air began to turn dark with ash, little sparks of light floating through as the fire got caught up in the desert wind. This was the last chance...and if he didn't make things at least as flashy as his previous tutor on the way out, he'd never be able to look at Vahn in the face again.

Samuel's tail smacked against the ground in morbid satisfaction. His yellowed eyes slanted intensely, as his nostrils flared out. Less and less consice by the minute, the partially masked hybrid seemed to be falling into his more primal side.

There was a distinct hunger in those eyes, and the way that its body moved along, likea predator taunting a wounded prey. Needless to say, Samuel had let the blood rush to his head. As usual.

"Idiot." Ezekiel remained merely an observer, his righ thand lfited and resting on the zipper of his white coat. He watched with curiousity how the human was never harmed at all, even as the landscape changed visibly. However the display did little to change their disposition, let alone Samuel's.

"Hungrrrrry.... so verrrry hungrrry..." That gorilla face snarled down at the lizard, before pouncing forward, ready to rip limb from limb.

Sunstrike

Sunstrike collided full on with a snarl and a scattering of sparks, as both bodies went flying, the crack of the two meeting could be heard for miles.

Even as more rents were opened along his arms and legs, his opponant clawing into them, Sunstrike used the closeness to clamp his mouth around Samuels neck. Teeth bit into rock hard skin with a screetching sound and more sparks, but Sun was stubborn, wanting this creature to bleed as he was bleeding.

The fact that he was smaller was actually a bonus, as he brought one of his own clawed feet to jam into the demons stomach, his own wings flapping to keep him on top of the other...something in him knew that if Samuel managed to pin him down he'd be done for.

Maybe...there was something the full grown salamander could do...and there was a soft rumble as Sun reached into himself, then he hacked up a fireball, the impact exploding against Samuels neck and throwing Sunstrike back a few yards, a few of his teeth ripped out, and covered in blood from where Sam had made contact in their brief close-quarter struggle.

Rolling backwards, Samuel hit the ground pretty rough. A chortled yell sounded out, and Samuel lost ability to form words, let alone breath for quite a while, his windpipe damaged.

The dust and sand settled down, revealing large rows in the ground from where Samuel's feet had gone, his body already standing up, eyes a furious shade of yellow. Wasting no time at all, his arm pistoed forward, the heavy set demon aiming to squeeze Sunstrike's head like a watermellon.

There was a visible blur, and kick up of dust, and Susntrike' vision would be obscured, as a figure now stood in front of him. The soft dripping of blood could be heard, even as Samuel's eyes widened.

The demon's whole body froze, it's outstretched hand, just barely avoiding impaling itself on the business end of a blackened blade.

"Wh..." Samuel stared down, as his eyes trailed over the blade, a rapier in fact, until they reached the owner. "Who the hell are you?!"

Standing in front of Sunstrike, not exactly looking any better than Sunstrike himself, was Vahn. However, the sheer intencity that emanated off of him was nearly suffocating. "Sorry." He turned his head to the side, looking down at Sunstrike. His voice was purely sincerely, seeing the state his friend was in.

"I was late again." Turning his head back towards Samuel, and the far-standing Ezekiel, his whole demeanor shifted gear, eyes narrowing. "You don't have to worry anymore. From here on out..." Vahn lowered his sword, sliding his hand along the length of the rapier, his blood putting splotches of crimson; the air starting to ripple wildly, as a great hot flame sprouted. "You can leave these bastards to me!!"

The Fang visibly shifted it's form, chagning shape and forming into it's second state, growing longer, harder, and heavier. "Ain't that right... EFREET!"

Sunstrike

PostPosted: Sat Sep 03, 2005 4:14 pm

Sunstrike growled a bit and hauled himself up, shaking himself and spattering blood all over the place, little hissings popping up where they exploded on the ground. His size loomed up next to Vahn, and he snorted, spitting blood out of his large mouth.

"Always gotta show up late forrr the parrrty dontchya...these guys been lookin forrr you...I told them you werrrn't available...now how do I look, you all showin up like this? Gonna give me a bad name, boyo...they'll be callin me a liarrr and all sorrrrts...."

The back of a clawed hand smacked Vahn's upper bicept to accentuate his point, almost kiddingly. In reality he was cursing mentally and fighting back everything primal that screamed at him to go after the growling presence that was Samuel...why hadn't Nahara gotten Vahn out?!

The flame that engulfed the blade forged itself. It thinned and cut until it lost all semblance of flame itself. The once jagged rapier blade now only served as the core of a large, straight Flamberge. The sword grew now instead of being 3.5 ft long and 2inchs wide it was a full 4.5 ft long and 5 inches wide. The soot and ash had burned cleaned off the rapier blade leaving it as the shining and powerful core of this new Fang mode. With enough effort one could still wield the blade with one hand, only much slower. But, there was still room on the hilt for another hand if need be. The new flaming blade had the appearance of constantly, and yet sluggishly moving molten magma and yet it was still quite solid. It would scald the hand of anyone who touched with over 1000 degrees. But to Vahn it would have no more warmth than any other blade.

This Fang was now held downwards, with Vahn's right hand, his head body straight still. His head lowered to the ground, eyes scanning over the sword. His attention was brought back, as Sunstrike smacked Vahn's arm.

"Yea...sorry." Yellowed eyes stared towards Samuel, intensity like never before seen focused in them. "But I can't turn down a good fight..." Or just run away. Being so close to Vahn and his Fang.. it woas an exhilirtaing and incredible feeling. However...it felt different this time. The very presence about him, his aura...was violent. A thick, heavy air seemed to wrap itself about him continually. It would seem like this was not Vahn at all...

"...Sunstrike." Vahn kept his back to his companion, the muscles on his back tightening. The tone in his voice was a like slowly building rumble, something that even Sunstrike in all the time he'd known the fighter, to be sound like. "Get away from me."

Sunstrike

PostPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2005 1:47 pm

Sunstrike snatched his hand away as if it were burned, cringing slightly. This wasn't right...

His eyes swerved to the boy on the ground, back to the man that was Vahn...and not Vahn at the same time, and then to Samuel. This was not a choice he would have liked to make again...Lucind...that monster...it was happening again...

Gods....I'll have to leave someone behind...

No.

He moved so fast it was almost unreal...but then again, he'd learned from the best. There was a clash of sparks as his weapon met Vahn's. Something alien screamed at the back of his mind in protest, but he moved forward, forcing the other man back, one step, two...orange eyes ablaze. ******** orders...he wasn't a child that needed protection anymore.

"You go...I have something I need to finish." More sparks and suddenly he was right up against the other man. There was a crack as his forehead met Vahn's, not enough for permenant damage, but certainly a wake up call. And then a foot raised up and slamed against Vahn's chest, shoving him back another few paces. An instinctual reaction to someone enroaching on his territory...HIS kill...he hissed softly.

"Wake up and back off, Vahn. Narrrra needs you...the townspeople need you....they arrren't worth the lives, you fool."

The other two continued watching, Samuel the closest one still, and Ezekiel farthest off, but within hearing range. Samuel raised his hand, scratching his head, as he didn't quite understand why the two were now fighting amongst each other.

"Efreet..huh? Hey, Ezekial, this b*****d..."

"Yes." Already knowing what his larger companion was going to say, Ezekiel stared in the direction of the two. "Although it's hard to believe he was drawn out from such a weak display of power, there is no mistake... Red hair...Fang of Efreet..." Ezekiel nodded towards Samuel.

"Everything checks out pefectly. Now grab our target, Samuel."

"SUERTE!" Samuel bellowed out, that big gorilla face of his smiling largely, as he stepped forward into the midst of the quarelling two, pistoning hsi right arm forward. "That means we don't have to...waste any more time playin' with ya!!!"

~~

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" At first he didn't know what to think, and then he became annoyed. Now he was close to actually being pissed off. "I go through hell to come to you, and this is how you thank me!?" Vahn returned the headbutt in kind, not so thoughtful as to hold back.

"I came here for you, jerk-- so get it through your head!" He straightened up, eyes uncertain as of right now. However it was at that same time that Samuel had pushed himself forward, fist out. The ground rose up in short slabs all around Vahn and Sunstrike, as the shockwave of the fist was sent hurtling harmlessly on either side. With a single hand, Vahn held his Fang aloft, the hilt pointing skywards. Samuel's entire fist was stopped in place, blocked by the fang.

"Hibon's right arm... The one who did that to him was this guy...right?" The intteruption doing more than quelling the fight between them from growing anymore, Vahn didn't care if Susntrike wanted him gone or not. He wasn't going. And apparently neither was Sunstrike.

"You owe him... YOUR arm." The words came out of Vahn's mouth coldly, and rumbled out from his throat in a low voice.

Alarmed, Samuel reared back his arm, even as felt the weight of Vahn's foot on his shoulder. Samuel could only stare forward, wide-eyed and looking like he was about to have a heart attack. His entire right arm had been severed in half, the limb sailing through the air, even as Vahn landed behind the demon brute.

"WHA..." Samuel stared at the stump that was his arm now, eyes widened as far as they could possibly go. Even Ezekiel was visibly surprised.

Sunstrike

Sunstrike snarled at the headbutt, god this guys got a thick head sometimes.

"You've gone thrrrrrough hell... YOU'VE GONE THROUGH HELL??!! LOOK at me!! What the heck do you think I've been doing, Vahn? Twiddling my frrrrreakish thumbs?!!"

And then the shockwave, but it wasn't only the sword that had stopped Samuel, keeping him rooted the the spot. Lower on the abdomin a clawed foot had imbedded itself into the rockhard skin. Sunstrike barely even flinched, most of the impact had been taken by the sword after all. And then Sun just left Vahn to it, sniffing as though personally insulted, glaring at Ezekiel.

"I coulda taken him...if I'd had a bit more time..."

Samuel wailed out, a cry of pain mixed with disbelief within his primal eyes. The stubb of his right arm was raised high into the air, gouts of blood gushing out, and pink colored muscle as well as white bone showing.

Vahn calmly landed on the opossite site of Samuel, or as calmly as someone who'd gotten peirced with a spear, could land. His Fang was held downward and to his side, his left arm pressed against his waist to keep the worst of his wound from flowing.

Idiot...if only you'd taken the second to sense his aura. If you had only done that much, you might have been ready for the attack. Ezekiel stared without sympathy at the dismembered brute, hands still casually within his pockets. Still, though...for that guy to cut through Samuel's steel skin... Samuel roared out with anger, bringing his left arm back to slam it into Vahn, completely forgetting about Sunstrike, who was now behind him-- making himself completely vunerable.

I also hear he brought out his "other" side in such a short period of time. Not too mention a troublesome kid like this might prove problematic to Master Victor... His eyes settled on the seemingly un-trash like Sunstrike.

Sunstrike

PostPosted: Wed Sep 07, 2005 2:16 pm

Claws suddenly came from nowhere and dug into Samuels face, and eyes. Sunstrike had jumped onto his back and, bleeding from sliced finger/claws, was slowly forcing the demons big mouth open.

"Open....wide....you....frrrrreak...."
Sunstrike wrenched again, tail swinging to maintain balance as his feet dug into the skin, clawing their way up the broad back, to actually help with the opening of the sharp mouth.

Then Sunstrike chuckled darkly, getting it enough open, even as the left claw suddenly ripped across his scaled chest. He hacked and spat a fire ball straight down the bastards throat, letting the mouth snap shut as he dove off.
