The volcano? Ah yes, that's where she remembered him from. A pressed smile hit the furry again, and she felt herself rather glad when he noticed Blanche lying upon the tabletop. Etching one paw out as silently as she could, she nudged the fridge door open. Happily, the machine swung upon - revealing the top shelves packed as always, with the bottom two completely vacant apart from quite a few white hairs: which were, as always, littering the fridge bottom.

"Ah yes, the volcano, wow - a giraffe and flamingo mix?" She chimed, glimpsing down at the frightened yet curious gryphon behind his knees. Kala reminded her of Blanche: she almost held a similiar expression to that of Blanche meeting Rawiya. Bending down a little, as not to frighten the gryphon more, she smiled fully towards Kalarune.
"She won't hurt you, I promise," The words were soft in the light of the flamingo mix, Emi pulling herself back up onto her feet shortly after. Gradually, her tail released itself from the back of one paw.

Blanche however, lifted her head up to the noise. Her tail swished along the back of the top, Kala didn't look dangerous at all. Deciding that the flamingo was no one to be scared of, she tilted her head to one side - replying in her own sweet crooning way. Clicking in her black beak, she barely even noticed the man watching her.

She noticed the fridge though.

Pulling herself up onto four paws, her orbital head tilted up to watch both man and woman. She clicked, just the once, at the man- golden eyes watching him. He didn't look that bad. If she'd have smiled, she would have done, except - with a beak it made smiling a rather difficult prospect. Instead, she dropped onto her front paws, leaping off the side of the tabletop.

Wings extending, she flew a silent flight back down to the opening of the fridge. Fridge or meeting this new gryphon? It was a hard choice, so Blanche just plopped down onto her stomach where she was, tail continuing to sweep the floor with its leisurely sweeps.

Progolo was relieved at the ease with which the woman spoke; it was contagious. He found himself smiling gently as the other Keeper comforted Kala. "Yes, flamingo and giraffe. Her name is Kalarune," he said. "And...she is a...fox and an owl, I'm guessing?" he asked, gesturing to the white gryphon. "She's absolutely gorgeous."

Kala watched as Blanche lept nimbly of the table, making a move as if to warn her not to. The last time she'd jumped off a table, she'd almost broken an ankle. But Blanche landed flawlessly on silent paws.

Sincerely impressed, Kala ached for a better view. She clip-clopped out from behind Progolo and extended her neck towards the other Aerandir. A distance of about three feet seperated her long hooked beak from Blanche's curved mouth.

"Do you?" Progolo asked conversationally. "I've never even seen a real giraffe...that wasn't a photo, that is. I'm assuming they aren't native to the Gaia..."

As Emi stood, he got a good view of the object she had placed in the fridge. "Blanche's shelf?" he read, grinning. "She moust love sitting in there. I wouldn't imagine she's well suited to Ar'Idil, hm? All that fur..."

Kala, on the other hand, liked the island weather. Feeling the cold air of the fridge wafting in her direction made a shiver run through her slightly humped back, and she retracted her long neck. Her feathers puffed up for added warmth--an odd look for what was normally such a sleek bird.

"Cwaw," she complained to Blanche, as if to say it's too cold!

Too cold? Nothing was ever too cold for the white Arctic gryphon. Her tail brushed the floor once behind her: to go to the fridge or not to go to the fridge? Emi would let her go there later, right? Pulling her body up onto four paws, she pawed reluctantly away from the fridge, away from the cold air swirling around her fur.

"Oh, I've not ever seen a real giraffe either. When I was a child, I had a picture book with African animals," Emi continued on, leaning up against the cupboard side top. Would he mind if she rambled on the way she did? Watching the man for any signs of discomfort, she flushed through her next sentence.
"Sorry for being silly. Well, she doesn't seem to mind the heat. Though I sincerely doubt she'll be able to sit in the fridge much longer, she's all ready to grow," Despite her not wanting to bore the man silly with her rambles, she started it again. Her fingers curled around the slip of paper in her hand, and the proud parent couldn't help but grin to herself.

Now to see what this long-necked gryphon could play. Pounce? No, that might hurt her. Wriggling her tail in almost a puppy-like wag, Blanche clicked her beak together. Her click fell into a higher range than the ones before it, seeming like a welcoming click for Kala to play. What they would play deemed to fall upon the flamingo's shoulders however.

A thoughtful notion suddenly perked Emi's interest, wait - in the volcano both Blanche and Kala we're in two jars. Put two on two together, and Kala must be about the same age as Blanche. With a smile, she posed the question.
"Have you received a letter from Anthony about collecting items?"

Progolo was a better listener than a speaker, so he didn't mind the rambling. He too rested his weight against a cupboard, placing his palms loosely on its top and assuming the look of a polite audience. At the mention of the letter, Progolo shook his head.

"No, not yet. Kala needs to improve her motor skills a bit more before she moves on, I think. She's still a tad clumsy. Aren't you, Kala?" he said, turning a gentle smile on his charge. She glanced over at him, looking suddenly like a confused puppy then anything else, but then her attention went back to the other Aerandir. She was WAY more interesting.

The man chuckled lightly, before resuming the conversation. "Blanche ought to be a wisp soon, right? Has her job been decided?" he asked, not knowing the new nature of Aerandir growth.

Kala had been in the act of rubbing at her ears again when Blanche stood and invited her to play. Her head bobbed around like a snake's for a moment while she considered. What could they play? Swimming? No....there wasn't any water. Besides, a fox-owl mix probably wouldn't be crazy about gettting her fur wet. How about tag? Tag was fun, but this Aerandir didn't have nice hard feet for running, just soft squishy ones that didn't make any noise. But maybe she'd like to play tag anyway?

Kala uttered another, unmusical syllable before making her way carefully over to Blanche and nuzzling her round face.

Large ears flickered lightly away from her head as he spoke, her long extensive tail swishing against the cupboard behind her. She too shook her head for the last question, bringing the papers up to sift through what she'd brought with her. It was sods law, she only had with her the original list and her own.
"When she does grow I'm sure she'll be stunning," Emi commented, chuckling a little herself at Kala's antics. Back to the subject, wisps.

"Apparently the wisp stage is actually dangerous for the Aerandir, I'd show you the letter Anthony sent- but, typically it's sitting at home on my coffee table," Emi explained. Hm, so anyone sent a letter would be the first to realize about the nature of the new growths then.

Blanche wasn't quite as conversational as her parent. Large golden eyes closed instinctively as Kala nuzzled her round face, the arctic Aerandir finding herself gently rubbing her feathered cheek back to Kala's smaller head. Tag, so she wanted to play tag then?

Cracking one eye open, Blanche gave the larger gryphon's legs one look. Now they would be hard to beat - especially as the grip on the kitchen floor wouldn't be marvelous with fur covered pads. Sa la vie, pulling her back paws up before her front, the lithe gryphon wriggled up onto her feet. She could only but try. Clicking her beak together in answer, she readied herself to set off.
Pulling her front paws before the back, the gryphon bounded down into the lodge - soft paws never touching the floor for very long in fear of slipping. She may not have been fast, but her muscles allowed for a smooth and almost graceful dash into the main room.

Watching her gryphon take off, Emi's eyes followed the pair of them into the room. What were they up to? She could only assume it was a game of tag by the haste Blanche had put into her marathon. Her ears flickered back against her skull for a moment, before turning back to the question in hand.
"So we've been asked to gather items before hand. I can only assume the wisp stage then only lasts for a few seconds, I'm sure we'll see soon enough." Finishing off, the shorter woman smiled up towards Progolo, waiting for his reaction.

Kala might have clapped with joy if she'd had any hands, but she settled for an excited toss of the head before setting off after Blanche.

If Blanche had any advantage, it was being able to change directions at the drop of a hat. Kala nearly ran into a wall on several occaisions, and her grip on the hard floor was possibly even worse than that of the artic fox/owl. Kala had to skid to a complete stop on her hooves before turning.

Which was quite fun, actually. In fact, she enjoyed sliding more than chasing, for the time being. She let out a call to Blanche, to inform her that she'd found an even better game.

Progolo tsk'd as Kala chased yet another gryphon off. If Progolo didn't know any better, he'd think Kala was quite the bully. Ah well. As long as she didn't hurt anybody...

"No wisp stage?" Progolo repeated. "Hm...I can see how that might be dangerous. Do you remember what you need?"

"What we need? I've got the list with me to put it up onto the board," Pulling out her piece of paper, she offered the list to Progolo, watching the two Aerandir gryphon's out of the corner of her eye. As always, the list conformed to Emi's standards: a crisp cream sheet of paper with curly writing etched onto the page.

Blanche, not quite realizing that both Aerandir were on even playing grounds, turning abruptly at the sudden noise behind her. Her tail whipped around on the spot, turning her body a full one hundred and eighty degrees to face Kala.
It might have been good news for Kala's new game, but it wasn't for Blanche. The quick spin sent the lithe gryphon flying across the floor towards the other gryphon, eyes shut tightly. Luckily, she was far enough away as not to hit little Kala.

Glancing up at the cork board in the other room, Emi peered discreetly over Progolo's hands to read through the list again. They'd managed to get all the ribbons, so it was just a matter of six more items. Six more items and Blanche would grow.

Flopping out onto her stomach to slide the last little way, Blanche un-folded her wings at either side of her. It worked. Her simple tax pulled the gryphon to a halt on the floor a little way from Kala, tail swishing along the floor behind her. Slowly one golden eye cracked open to peer up at the Flamingo Aerandir.

Progolo scanned over the list until something caught his eye. A feather...? Hm, It seemed all the Aerandir needed feathers to grow...Fortunately, Progolo had a practically endless supply of them. His little menagerie of charges shed them constantly.

"I can give you a feather if you don't want to rip one of Blanche's out," he offered. "In fact...the way Kala's carrying on, she's probably lost several anyway."

Kala had indeed, managed to accidentally loosen a wing feather and several pink down feathers in one of her near collisions with the wall. She'd been trying to preen the feather out of her wing when Blanche got into the game a little faster that expected.

She took a shaky half-leap backwards, clacking her beak in mild surprise. As Blanche peered up at her, she bobbed her head in amusement--the closest she could come to a full grin. Wow, she'd figured it out quickly! Satisfied, Kala made sure Blanche was watcing before dashing past her and buckling her knees to skid again.

Figured it out was one matter, but finding herself sliding along the floor was something completely different. Cracking her other eye open, Blanche watched the tall gryphon dash past her: buckling her knees to skid along the floor a little way down. She could do that easily! Fur covered pads came in handy sometimes after all.

With a brief flap of her wings to settle them back at her sides, the gryphon almost daintily dragged herself up onto four paws. Looking like a puppy about to join another game, Blanche flew down a little way on her paws (making sure this time to linger a little longer on the slippery wooden flooring).

Then, just when she was satisfied she'd picked up enough space, the gryphon did her best to slide along on all four paws. Not quite having any grip on the flooring at all, her paws spayed out at either side of her body: the gryphon ending up sliding back over towards Kala on her stomach. Well, as long as she could still slide.

"A feather? If you could that would be great," Emi lit up, Blanche had dropped quite a few feathers in her time - but the black and white feathers were so pretty under light, that and she sent all the ones she had lying around the house back home. Plus, would a feather from the gryphon turning into a child work?
"Mind scribbling it off the list?" She questioned, turning her full attention back to the list for a moment. That made five items. Letting her tail swish along the floor behind her, the tips of Emi's ears seemed to twitch in excitement.

Once she had come to a stop, Kala had once again resumed trying to preen her wing, her long serpentine neck twisted flexibly over her back. That stupid feather was itchy when it wasn't smoothed down properly! Frustrated, she took it in her beak and pulled it out. It was one of her primary feathers, expedient for flying, but Kala didn't care. She didn't even know how to fly. She liked to have all four hooves on the ground, in a manner of speaking.

With a raspy gurgle, she placed the handsome red feather aside, flicking her tail in annoyance. Holding her head in that position had reminded her that her ears still hurt. She rubbed her head against her wing fussily.

Just then, Blanche came sliding up to her, on her belly once again. Hm...a little unorthodox, but, then again, Blanche didn't have smooth, hard feet to slide on. She indicated her approval with a gleeful squawk.

Progolo nodded, his hand instinctively going to his ear for the pencil he often tucked there, but there was none to be had. Frowning, he heaved his weight away from the cupboard and opened a few drawers, looking for something to write with.

"Do you have a pen?" he asked over his shoulder. As he opened another drawer, he flinched. Well, he'd found the sugar he'd come to plunder...

Pen, pen. Patting her pockets on either side of her patchwork skirt, Emi's dark furry fingers curled around the very wooden lead pencil she'd been after. Fishing the stubby pencil out from it's folds of fabric, she offered the pencil out towards the taller man.

Her tail twitched lightly as he flinched: what exactly was wrong? Better not be nosy, it wasn't a good thing. Her metallic blue eyes did flick to the contents of the cupboard however, or what little contents she could see. The baking drawer?

Blanche would have frowned if she could, what exactly was wrong with Kala's ears? Coming to a complete halt, the Arctic Aerandir watched the other rub her head against her large pink wings. Her tail flinched in itself, its wagging falling to a complete halt. Rather, her tail swished behind her, reminising Emi's as it curled partly against her furry paws.

Shuffling her wings, she gradually pawed her way to Kala. When her ears hurt (or any part of her for that matter), which they rarely did, she'd just preen it with her beak - or better yet, get Emi to rub the very same spot.
Just before she got there, Blanche stopped in her tracks. She clicked in reply, a much shorter reply than before. Carefully making her way over, she stood up on her back paws with some difficulty: her wings un-folding at either side of herself to steady her stand. Once up, she gently nuzzled her white cheek to Kala's ear for a second- it was only momentarily, as she quickly found herself flopping back onto the floor.

Blanche wasn't quite made to stand on two paws yet.

"Are you ok?" Emi questioned. She'd hate to prod the man into telling her what was wrong, but still felt it her duty to ask incase he needed help.

Kala was surprised when Blanche tried to help out, and she flinched away slightly. The pressure of her beak was more direct than Kala's rubbing and, mercifully, it was enough to provoke a small trickle of the trapped fluid to dribble out of her ear. She gurgled and wiped her head on her wing. Yuck. Ear slime. Her ear felt much better, however. She flicked her ear experimentally, to see if she could get any more out, but what remained was deep down. Ah well. That small amount was still a relief.

She clacked her beak in graditude, giving Blanche a nuzzle.

Progolo was taken off-guard by Emi's question, not knowing she had seen his reaction to the sight of the sugar. "Um...yes...why...?" With an inquisituve look on his face, he scratched off 1 feather from the list with the pencil he'd been given. His long fingers found difficulty holding onto the splintery stub, but he, fortunately, wasn't exactly doing calligraphy here.

Emi flushed on the spot. Doing her best to stay on one paw, instead of shuffling along the floor (as was her usual habit), the twenty three year old shook her head. She felt like such a child, she should have known he might have been on edge about the baking cupboard: he might not even have wanted to mention it.

"It's nothing, really, my imagination. You just flinched when you looked in the baking cupboard," If Progolo had managed to keep up with the flustered Emi, he would have been lucky. Rather embarrassed, her voice sped up - to a point where Progolo would have had to be listening intently to catch the last few words.

Sitting carefully on her heels, Blanche watched as Kala flicked her ear - removing the 'ear-slime' onto her wing. Thank goodness she didn't ever get liquids in her ears, it looked painful!
If she could have chuckled at the nuzzle, she would have done. Crooning happily as the Flamingo nuzzled the pristine gryphon, Blanche found herself nuzzling her furry cheek back to Kala's feathered.

Her own ears flicked back to her head, protectively pressing them back to the white fur. No boy, Blanche didn't want water anywhere near her delicate ears. No thank you.
