It was in a small tea-shop Yumi first heard about the murder and the message. All the publicity was alarming and the name made it even more so. But for some reason, Yumi only smiled. This is the way, this I can use.
She started directly, she knew where to start too and on the way to the bar her plan only got better. She entered the bar and secretly waved the barkeeper to her.
"Juicy news?" The old womans eyes sparkled and she smiled widely. This woman was well known for being well informed when it came to rumours and it was from this bar, where she worked, the freshest rumours always could be heard.
"Yes, I think you'll like this!" Yumi grinned. "I've done some research and I've heard a little about this Yumi everyone's been talking so much about... in fact I even know the woman." Yumi nodded slowly, with a very serious look on her face.
Now the old woman seemed to get terribly exited, "Yes, yes?"
Yumi paused dramatically, "Well, I've heard that she's in fact a Meiji assassin, she's just changed sides... you know, they payed her more. And she was ordered to write the message on the table! Isn't that chocking? I mean, what does that message really mean, what was the point?" Now Yumi stopped talking and let the old woman make her own version of what Yumi just had told her, since she always did. Then Yumi just quickly waved good bye to the woman and left the bar. Now let's see what the Shinsengumi does as revenge, she chuckled.

Chaos walked into the manor and straight to his room. He entered closing the door behind him and locking it. He walked to the window and looked out from it. Yumi was out there somewhere. He knew she'd find the name placement interesting and even expected people to start twisting about who the person worked for. He wouldn't be surprised...after all he knew Yumi was a smart woman. He had written it to let her know someone was there who knew her and would find her. He opened the window slowly looking out and resting his hands on the weapons at his sides. The silver weapons sat resting and waiting to be used. Neither wished to draw blood...but they would destroy. It almost seemed...as if they had a mind of their own. He stares at the ground below and then turns walking to the desk and writing in kanji a bit. Not the best looking but readable. It basically said that he was leaving...that if Yoshimitsu wished to find him he'd know where...He wrote to Lotus telling her he was sorry but he needed time out...to think or move about on his own. He folded the note and laid it on his bed as he walked to the window and held the edges. He leapt out pushing the window panes back and closing as he landed, rolling and rising, almost in the same movement. He began walking away from that manor where he had been so many times before. He walked slowly his eyes golden and cold. He was slowly striding with his straw hat low over his head and hidden from notice. A man creating chaos in the shadows...Hikage Konton as many named the Meiji assasain...

Lotus dried her hair, which was quite difficult because it was so thick. It finally cooperated and she combed it until it shined. She didn't put it up in her accustom two horse tails but left it down so it cascaded down her shoulders and hung down the small of her back. She put on a dress/pant suit of golden and black that matched her eyes and walked to Chaos room. She wasn't surprised that the door was locked. She looked down the hallway, both directions and then leaned down so she was level with the mechenism and proceeded to pick it.
IT took longer than it usually did but she finally opened the door to an empty room. She poked her head in cautiously then stepped in and closed the door. It clicked locked behind her. She saw the open window and the note. It was on his bed. SHe sat down and read it. She blushed, he must have expected her to break in, how funny, That's nice he left me a note! She snorted and put it in her pocket and crossed her legs, still sitting on his bed.

Chaos walked...and walked and walked until he found the coast. He stopped there looking down at the water as it washed up under his wooden sandals. He stares at it without feeling and closes his eyes sighing slightly. He then turns his head slowly to look over at the forest and then back again to the setting sun...a beautiful thing...sad that he had it alone...He hated to watch the sun rise or set alone...but if it was doing so he'd watch...as long as he wasn't preoccupied though of course...
Yoshimitsu found his way to Chaos' room and knocked on the door. "Chaos?...are you there?...We've got an assignment for you to take care of tommorow...think you can handle it?" The slightly tall man stood flipping through a folder and yawning a bit.

Lotus, who had fallen asleep at the foot of Chaos' bed roused only a bit to listen but she didn't say anything. She stood adn looked out the window, her movement silent and looked out at the setting sun. SHe smiled at the golden disk as it sank below the horizon. She took a slow deep breath and crawled back on the bed and went to sleep.

The evening Yumi didn't know what to do, she had to wait for the Shinsengumi to act in some way and first the rumour had to spread. Without knowing what to do Yumi continued walking, like she usually did when bored. Suddenly she stopped, she didn't know why. She looked up and saw a girl looking out from a window. Somehow the girl seemed familiar, but Yumi couldn't quite put her finger on where she had seen her. It had to be a long time ago, since all the girls she had seen recently were dead. Or were they? Yumi started to seriously doubt her work. It's not possible. Countless images of bloodstained corpses flashed through her brain, so many that it even started worrying Yumi, the cold, insensitive Yumi. She was not used to the feeling, before she had been able to keep track of her victims, but now...

Chaos sighs deeply putting a hand to his face. He could remember his first kill...the eyes...they were the biggest thing...They had bulged when his blade had sliced into the neck. Those beautiful green eyes...shining and wanting...Those green eyes that seemed to haunt him. He sighed slowly before spitting at the sun. "You've only cursed me...hardly any help have you given me. He then turns his back on the sun and stands staring at the land...He breathed deeply and began walking forward his feet shifting slowly as he walked in silence. He moved slower than before and with thought. He had to keep on going...that was all life was after all...a series of movements...movements to make it through...and finish it off...

In her sleep she was hit by a wave of sadness, pain and emptiness. She figited in her sleep, moaning and muttering. She tossed a turned a bit also, the note fell to the floor. Then she was still.

Yoshimitsu slipped the folder under the door after Chaos not answering...he figured he needed rest. He then went back to his room.
Chaos simply walked in thought...he didn't want anything else.

She slept. She was tired and probably wouldn't wake unless someone entered the room.

((Ok I was trying to wait for Mou to post and I'll give it just a bit more time through this post <.< come on Mou @_@)) Chaos slowly sees the town on the horizon. He sighed as he lowered his straw hat just a bit. His golden eyes stared, he seemed to not be able to rid himself of them for now, maybe later though. He sighed once again and continued his long walk toward the town. He moved his head back and forth under the hat searching for something. He could feel Lotus sleeping, that was a good thing at least. Maybe he should sneak in and out to grab any mission he may have.

((I've been here lurking all the time... I just don't feel like posting when I don't have anything to say sweatdrop ))
Without noticing Yumi had walked through the whole city. She stopped when she noticed she was surrounded by only fields. With a sigh she sank to the ground underneath a tree. Yumi was feeling tired, very tired, she had been thinking too much, she wasn't used to thinking this much. Only a few people walked past her, everyone thinking she was just an old exhausted woman. Yumi's before so shiny and well cared for hair was now hanging gray and lifeless with only a few still straight parts reminding Yumi of her before so beautiful hair. Her clothes were grey of dust from walking the whole day, the fine material had been ripped in multiple places. At the moment Yumi looked about 20 years older than she actually was.

Chaos noticed somebody by a tree, a sakura blossom. He slowly walks over and stops a few feet away from her. He didn't know why but he seemed worried for this woman, this old looking woman. He spoke slowly seeming to recognize her but not seeing her face quite yet. "Are you alright Miss Rurouni-dono?" He kept his head still watching her with those golden eyes in wonder of what she was doing...she looked tired from the back, and seemed to be wanting something.

Yumi's whole body tensed. Why was someone talking to her? What did he want from her? Go away, leave me alone! she wanted to scream. This voice? That presence... why was it so familiar to me?
"Who are you?" Yumi mumbled as an answer to the man, without once looking up. Just as Yumi uttered those words she got a sudden flashback and at once she knew who she was speaking to.
"Why do you have to keep on bothering me, can't you just leave me alone Chaos?" At once she looked up and glared straight into his golden eyes. "What do you want from me?"

Chaos didn't budge when he heard the familiar voice. His hand didn't even tense around the handle of the blade. His golden eyes stare down at hers in silence for a long time before he spoke. "I apoligize for ruining your day, but I have time at least to see if a person who seems like an old woman is doing alright...Yumi I no longer care about your well-being...you are a person known to me. If you die I'm sorry, if you live I'm sorry. I learned something when I was training Yumi. Grudges don't matter, never have never will. Why am I here? I am here because I saw an ailing body, but obviously I mistook need for fear and hate...forgive me Yumi...I shall leave you be then." His golden eyes lingered on her as he bowed before turning and slowly making his way toward the city. To head and wake up Lotus...she needed it anyways.
